The best ROM for my Infuse? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I'm looking for a good stable FAST rom. Only main things that have to work is Wifi / Bluetooth / 720p recording / All camera stuff. ( I will give up the camera stuff for a huge performance increase if need be. From GB to ICS)
Thats it, I'd prefer a ICS ROM but I can't find ANY of them that doesn't have at least a few bugs with the camera. I would also like a OC'd Kernel. I'd be mostly using the phone for Gaming. and stuff like that...Right now I'm running ZEUS. Im about to flash with AEON 1.4 right now...
Let me know if anyone has a suggestion, And sorry if this is in the wrong section...

If camera is an issue for you, stay on gingerbread.

The best ROM really depends on individual user preference; however, I have used various GB, ICS, and JB ROMs and my favorite and the one I'm using now is CypherROM Build 2.

Personal preference really. If you want GB stability, I would suggest trying Mind of Mac v1.4. If you want JB, I have run the unofficial CM10 4.1.1 which was really good. Now I'm on ParanoidAndroid 2.12, which, for me, is the best I have used. Try different ones, find out which one you like and suits your needs. I think for your requirements, I would stay with GB. Going from GB to JB requires some extra steps also. Have fun!

I agree with what Trickster03 said, but on Paranoid Android I flashed UCKL2 and the wifi speeds are wonderful, for the recording, youll need to stay on stock

ics vs gingerbread?

hey, i have been running an ics rom for a while. Its been super laggy and i havnt had time to flash a new one. My reason for making this post is to ask whether or not the ics roms are stable and fast, or should i just use cm7 if im looking for a fast rom with great features. thankyou in advance.
There are different builds of ICS, like nightly and AOKP. You just gotta try and the different ones and see which ones you like best. Changing ROMs is all about preferences and what you feel comfortable with.

After using Slim for the past few months, I would not go back to a non-ICS ROM (this ROM will probably influence my choice of the next phone I buy, i.e. I will make sure it's available on that device).
While I agree the SlimICS is very quick and runs fairly smoothly, it does lack in other departments. In order to have a slimmer and smother build they had to cut certain things. The main thing I noticed is not all languages are supported.
SlimICS has been the best experience of the ICS roms, or any rom for me. It's very fast, stable, and feature packed. I've had zero problems through the two different builds I've been using for the last week. I highly recommend it.

Thanks guys. I'm currently running cm7 again. But it sounds like I should definitely try the slim rom.

SlimICS is definitely worth the time investment to get it installed and running. I came from Cognition 4.5.x and my phone is running better than it ever has using any previous ROM I've tried (and I tried a lot of them!). Granted, my IMEI paid the ultimate price for using all those different ROMs (EFS folder wiped/corrupted), but I'll have that sorted out soon enough with any luck.
Can't say enough about Slim though, granted I didn't care for the Lightening launcher that's included. I am using the standard ICS launcher, which works fine and is plenty fast for me.
SlimICS or Nostalgia (SlimICS based) - runs faster than S3.
But I'm rooting my S3. So boajuicing comes...
Give AOKP a shot. I'm running it and love it.
Sent from my SGH-I897
I find that the CM9 ROM I use isn't always the fastest but the features pretty much balance it out when compared with Gingerbread.
ICS is fast and sleek, but I'll choose GB KK4 for the meantime until they fix the unsuccessful encryption bug on ICS. Still waiting though :silly:
I've never liked GB but then again, I didn't give it that much of a chance. I was extremely satisfied with di11igaf's Rom [2.2.1] on my Captivate, flashed to stock GB, then flashed immediately back.
Currently running TiramiSlim RC 2.0 [Based on SlimICS 3.9] after being somewhat of a crazy flash-aholic as far as ICS Roms are concerned. It is super-fast & extremely smooth.

I would say it is: EAGLESBLOOD™ ICS "AOSP". I have bounced around using different ROMs but always end up with EB. Besides the Devs are there for you when issues come up.
Search and try
There are any number of "good" ROMs out there Some prefer CM7, or CM9. Some Prefer AOKP. SOme like to stick to close to stock because it has fewer potential problems. Your mileage will vary based on your needs and you should try some until you find one that matches your needs. There is no single generic answer to your question. If it were specific it would be more likely that one ROM best fits your needs though. For example, if you are seeking video capture and playback then stear clear of CM9 and ICS. If you are seeking a safer ROM than try CM7 or stockish. If you are seeking massive customization than go with some that have those choices(eaglesblood AOKP is a good choice). If you are looking for an iphone-like interface than Muiu might be your thing. So, sorry, but there is no one answer to this question. Many members of this site will just tell you to search and stop posting this question, but I thought I might help.
If you want stable, then get a modded stock ROM.
ICS doesn't have working video.
Cm7 has Bluetooth issues (I never use Bluetooth so I am on Cm7).

Other options
If you get tired of Eaglesblood (not like it's bad or anything) go for AOKP. I had it on my Fascinate before I switched to the G2X and the features are simply astounding.
At this point, most of the developers are using the same performance mods (making most of the ICS roms run nearly the same in general use). So it comes down to features!
Get a SD card for Nandroids, then try many.
gpmartinson and buru898 offered great advice.
Best thing to do IMHO is to read, mostly the development threads. You'll see lots of posts regarding what works and what the current issues are with particular ROMs (and kernels).
Then get an SD card for all your flashing curiosities. I usually keep this separate from my kids' movies and all my photos that I like to keep on a different SD card. I keep Nandroid backups of each ROM I try (usually between 300 - 700 MB) and remember to rename them so I can keep 'em all straight (that's the only thing I use Rom Manager for). Also finding a good launcher set-up nicely makes a huge difference. ADW EX works so well for me on that even on stock based ROM's my G2x seems snappier than a stock Samsung GS2 or SkyRocket. I bounce back and forth all the time as it takes less than 5 minutes to restore from a backup once I have a ROM set-up the way I like.
Buru, you're on CM7? WTF? I love BuruROM 2.3.4! For reliability and battery life I too like CM7, but I'll put in a vote for Buru too :good: since that rooted stock version is awesome for battery, great GPS, and I prefer using LG Cam 3.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1166531) to the CM7 camera mod ported from LG Camera.

Which TW Rom?

I haven't rooted my phone yet, but i've been following the cm10 forums and it seems its still pretty buggy right now. I haven't seen much about the tw roms like synergy or beans. Which would you guys prefer and recommend for the most stable and best performance tw rom.

also interested. i havent flashed roms in a while but i like soem of the touchwiz features.
CM10 wont have motion control support, right?
No, CM10 does not have Motion Control support right now, though the Alpha build for CM10 works well, I wasn't pleased with the battery life. So, I'm about to ty CleanROM. Synergy wasn't for me, but it is a solid ROM. For 4.1 and Motion support, best bet is to wait for Samsung to release 4.1 for the GSIII, eventually somebody will root it, and that should include motion support.
I prefer Synergy, its always been great for me, and i get amazing battery life with it. I haven't tried beans so i can't comment on his, but it really boils down to personal preference. Some will say synergy and some will say beans.
Does synergy have any big bugs that someone would not flash because of it? And how is the data reception, i haven't been getting that good of reception even with stock.

The latest nightly appears to have everything worked out and data reception for me has been great.
Personally, I use SynergyROM (currently nightly R50).
I have yet to encounter any significant bugs. The Samsung Motion controls seem a bit off, but I'm not sure if that's how stock is or if it's just the ROM.
As for your questions about reception, SynergyROM has increased WiFi and Data transmit power. It supposedly means faster speeds, which I assume is achieved through a stronger connection?
Running Scott's CleanRom and it runs great. I see new version 2.0 is out now.
Cleanrom IS the only ROM I haven't tried as it wasn't out yet, but of all the others I kept returning to root66 as everything Single thing works perfectly, it is the fastest set-up I have ever used on ANY phone and battery life is as good as any other ROM (regardless of some of the ludicrous claims posters make for battery life)
Bean 8 with imosyeons LeanKernel 2.2 > Root66>Synergy 1.7...have not tried clean rom.
I've seen no bugs so far in the latest Synergy nightly (r50). Synergy has been my daily driver for a while now and is very stable with excellent support from the developer. Highly recommend.
CleanROM 2.0 just came out today and from the description sounds great. However, several of the bloatware apps appeared after installation (VZ Navigator, Color, etc) even though I de-selected them in the installer. I'm trying to get my post count to 10 so I can let the dev know in his own thread.
Seems people are saying different ones are the best. Still not sure so i'll probably look more into each one.
They didnt appear in mines
VERIZON GALAXY S 3 (CM10)
The NoSympathy ROM is pretty dang awesome. Pretty much just root, deodexed, and zip-aligned. I ran it with lean kernel and it was very happy with performance. I honestly think it is a great combination of performance and stock TW.

Is the "VRALF2 vs G1" referring to the kernel, the ROM, or the radio/modem. I get so confused with all the conflicting terminology on these forums.

All of the above, in each context. F2 and G1 are two different builds (official ones from Samsung), which each have their own kernel, system base, and radios. You wouldn't mix and match kernels with system bases, but radios are interchangeable. I recommend the latest G1 radio, for the record.
Most TW ROMs get built off the latest base (and get ported over to new bases when they are released), because they tend to add bug fixes. You should know which build your ROM is based off, because in some cases third-party kernels can be compatible with one base and not another. Read carefully.

ICS or GB?

I want to know from you guys the experience of using GB and ICS roms, so which one is stable for you as a daily driver.
ICS has come a long way for our phone, and I'd say it gives really good performance now. I especially liked MIUIv4 port, which works like a charm. And ICS based ROMs are almost bug free now, I can use tethering, camera etc without any problems. Gingerbread is also really good, but I have to say ICS is more aesthetically pleasing, and I feel no need to go back to GB based ROMs.
I agree, the ICS based ROMs are the best right now. There are new ROMs based on Jelly Bean (Cyanogen Mod 10 Unofficial) that, from my experience, are as stable as you could ask for our phone, but it's also having problems with Google Apps. Definitely go for the ICS ROMs though; they run faster, look better, and have more features when compared to the stock ROM or lower grade Cyanogenm Mod ROMs.

I tried ICS for a while but got a frequent bug where my screen went dead every now and then. The System kept on running but with no display. Some people mentioned that it is a known bug with no solution except to reboot phone every time. So I went back to GB another member told me he set he processor mix and Max values to something like 420-600ish and it seemed to fix the problem. So I guess ICS does not support overclocking on the P500. I've been thinking to try it for myself but I'm lazy and GB works fine.

Im looking for gud ICS roms...But still no good rom....I still prefer neko95s' ginger snap and CM7.2 they are still best on race..
The lack of HQ YouTube and video is unfortunately a deal breaker for me, so it's Gingerbread for me right now. Fix that and I'll happily switch to ICS in a heartbeat.

I use ics, but I rather come back to GB this week. Battery life is shorter than on gb and i can' t watch yt videos .
> ics is good, jellybean is better, both are fantastic if only we met hardware requirements , read my signiture.. you'll find the fastest rom ever for Optimus one, just click on the link
What makes me choose gingerbread over ics is mainly due to the battery life. On gingerbread with my usage, I can probably squeeze out two days of battery life. With that same usage on ics, I get less than a day. And as a moderate gamer, kernels matter a lot to me; the gingerbread kernels give me more performance than any ics kernel. Also sucks to have choppy video recording and playback
But the one thing that I like about ics is that it is aesthetically pleasing (but that is the only pro)
GB is battery friendly ICS sucks
try oxygen rom You cant customize like CM but....very good battery life:good:
Though I have a derivative device (LS670, the Optimus One for Sprint), I've run both GB and ICS and found a lot of good, stable, well supported ROMs that get great battery life. If you're doing heavy use, you'll likely get slightly better battery life out of a GB ROM, but I find the customization options and overall aesthetic of ICS to be much better.
In the end, it comes down to preference. ICS Roms are hot right now, but JB is on the rise, and I hear some people manage to get a day or two out of JB as well.
We shall see.
Apps are better in ICS
The gmail app is way too better in ICS. I like the widgets too.. Can't seem to go back to GB. Missing the aesthetics of ICS a lot..!
That's a question that will have many different opinions. Most of my devices I've had was running 2.2 and 2.3 (CM7). I have little experience with 4.0/CM10 but I am getting use to 4.1.
If you want your phone to be very easy and simple to use I would recommend 2.3. If you just use your phone for calls and texts and some web browsing then 2.3 is for you IMO. 2.3 just has a really simple layout that its just so easy to use and it runs very smooth on the optimus v. ICS is a lot more customizable and has more bells and whistles. But in the end, it just depends what your looking to get out of your device

If u r looking for a longer battery life, GB and if not ICS! Its that simple. And also hephappy s final 9.1.1 is very simple and handy and easy to use ICS Rom.. Not much customization hassels.. great ics Rom indeed..

Thinking of re-Flashing but is it worth it?

Hey all...
My original Infuse had to be sent back to the Warranty dep because of the micro usb issues a lot of people had...it had Zeus v6 which I did love however I had to figure out how to hard brick it because I couldn't go back to stock....
So here I am with my new (Most likely refurbished) Infuse and it actually came pre-loaded with Gingerbread (Holy crap right?) and it seems to run well...in fact better than Zeus did....my battery life is better although it still sucks....it hasn't crashed yet so so far no known issues....
However, I miss the extra features Rooting/Flashing can do whether they're just for fun or not....but I'm worried I'm going to have the same USB issue right and never get back to stock again if something dire goes wrong....I almost felt like flashing caused the problem because it happened the same week....
So here's my question...
A lot of these new ICS/JB Roms are obviously ports of one another which is cool but everywhere I look they all seem to have the same issues with BT not working...wifi issues...signal issues and videocamera issues....I realize people have fixes with these with different kernels etc....but is there a more stable ROM than others? I used to have CM7 before Zeus and it was really slick and stable however I hated that it was missing some TouchWiz features that love and Zeus kept them....But when it comes to ICS I do like that "Vanilla" look because it doesn't really seem stock Samsung phones have it because of Touchwiz...
So what's the most stable ROM most of you know works best...
What's the flashiest ROM (all the bells and whistles)
And do any of them incorporate some TouchWiz features like swiping right or left on contacts for calling or messaging..(I don't know why I just love that feature)
So far from the looks like the updated Unofficial CM10 is the way to go....anyone want to steer me clear from this?
The only issue at the moment with ics/jb is 720p recording. Everything else is running completely fine.
Most of the jb roms are really smooth and stable. Try a few of them out and stick with the one you prefer.

Great post from andros here. No one can really make up your mind on what ROM to go with as some may have features you don't want, like, or need and/or is missing features you want/need. The most anybody can really do is throw a few recommendations out there (which i will do) but the rest is up to you.
Some ROMs i would personally recommend would first of all be andros's LiquidSmooth (click picture in my sig).
Some others from the JellyBean line-up would be RemICS-JB, SlimBean, and the unofficial CM10.
The only ICS ROM i have used is RemICS (not the same as RemICS-JB) so can't give any recommendations there (same goes for GB ROMs).
Those are the ROMs i have personally tried and are in my opinion the best 4.x ROMs for the infuse. But like i said earlier, it's your decision which one to go with. Research each ROM's features list, bug list, and update intervals to see which one is best for you.
-DD
You listed bt first so I assuming that is important. I'm using liquid smooth and it works flawlessly with bt. And battery life is great
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
I checked out that video of Liquid Smooth and it looks very promising.....on the video he said that everything on the camera works....is the 720p issue have to do with crappy resolution or the video and audio not matching up? Because the video/audio is what I had issues with on CM7....
The guy on the video is using an sg3. The video is mostly for people to see how it looks, its features and functionality.
Our only issue with our Infuse is choppy 720p recording.
Sent from my LiquidSmooth Infuse
If you are going to upgrade past GB I recommend skipping ICS. To my knowledge development on ICS has stopped for the infuse. I could be wrong but last I checked most of the ICS ROMs are still less functional than the jellybean ROMs.
I've tried most of the jb ROMs and from my own experiences, Slim, liquid, and Paranoid are the best. I haven't tried remics or miui though.
Flash one of them and you should be happy. And actually I have the 4.2 camera and took a video at a wedding (in low light) and it was the best video I've taken since stock.
Again it's all personal preference. But stability wise I think jb is pretty awesome.
