Hey there,
Im looking for an Android phone for my girlfriend.
Specs:
- 3" till 4"
- Good cam (better than Htc Desire would be nice)
- Not ugly
- Smooth UI
I've found the Xperia Sola and the Optimus Speed. Does someone got a good choice?
Thanks a lot!

Did you consider Galaxy Ace 2? It's not too expensive, the camera is 5 Mpixels, but can shoot 720p video+Jelly Bean coming soon too.

The HTC EVO 3D has a CDMA and GSM variant and neither is too pricey. It features 2 5mp cameras on the rear and one forward facing camera (1.2 MP I believe). Hardware specs are nice and it features the same Snapdragon S3 chip as the One S (the One S is overclocked from Qualcomm default clock speed to 1.7 GHz). I have had my CDMA 3D for nearly a year and have been happy with it and ROM/Development support is definitely there.

Thanks a lot for your answers!
The EVO is too big and a bit too expensive. But the Ace looks quite interesting.

I'm not sure if it's available everywhere, but the Galaxy S Advance should have slightly better specs than the Ace 2 for almost the same price.

Not sure what you consider Mid class, i assume less expensive? I would look into the droid Razr (original or Maxx) you can get the original for around $50 if you are doing an upgrade and i have seen it go refurbed for $99. It has an 8mp camera and a 1.3mp front facing camera, dual-core processor and the whole thing is thin and beautiful. Battery isnt the best but still get about 8 hours normal usage 12 hours low usage. It comes with 8GB built in storage and an 8GB sd card for a total of 16GB which is awesome if you use the camcorder or camera a lot. You can check out and compare a few prices on Amazon or verizonwireless.com

Galaxy R (Dual-core 1Ghz ARM-Cortex A8/9 with Tegra 2)
LG Optimus 2x (This one is obvious)
Motorola Defy (I think it's not sold anymore - TI OMAP 3630 Dual-core 800Mhz with PowerVR SGX530)
Galaxy S Advance (Not very sure about phone specs)
Nokia Lumia 808 Pureview (Don't get me started)
Herpderp Defy.
Thanks man. Had a quick look at your suggestions:
R is bigger (i personally find Ace size optimal for a phone rather than PDA) and more expensive (another £60), so the Ace2 = more bang for buck.
Optimus, very similar, better spec(?) - dislike the 4 hardbuttons layout.
S Advance appears to have 1ghz dual core. But at this stage looks like a 295£ phone.
Wouldn't touch a Nokia smartphone.
Ace 2 it is then!
The new acepta Its really Cool !! ;D

The 2x is almost similar to the R , with Tegra 2 as well
Herpderp Defy.
More suggestions:
Samsung Galaxy W (Probably a smaller version of Note)
Galaxy Note (Quite huge)
Galaxy SII (everyone's favourite)
Galaxy Ace Plus (LOL it's not that bad)
HTC Sensation XE/XL (XE = beats , XL = bigger screen)
HTC Edge (is it out yet ? Lol)
Motorola Defy+ (An upgraded version of my phone)
The badass Xiaomi phone (LOL)
Samsung Focus S (WP7 variant of SII)
Herpderp Defy.
Note really is massive.
W is a good equivalent, but prefer dual-core.
Sensation is another 100£ more. S II another 200£
Edge seemingly not available yet.
Xiaomi doesn't look too bad at all!!! - http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/27/xiaomi-phone-review/
Defy+ 4 buttons, sorry just not for me.
Ace + should be Ace pointless.
Focus S is a Windows phone...aka yuck.
Sony solo. 3.7 bravia screen. 1ghz dual core. 5mp camera. Floating touch (just move your finger over the screen). Will get ics.

1gig dual-core with a 1350mah battery sounds...interesting.
And guess what....this is a succesor season.S2 gets a successor--The samsung Galaxy S3...behold.The 1.8 Ghz Quad core processor phone...Now available as pre-order:
The Galaxy S III will come with a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280. This means a ‘retina’ quality pixel density of 319ppi.Specifications include an Exynos 4212 quad-core 1.8GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 12MP rear facing camera, a 2MP front facing camera and 4G LTE connectivity. It will also have version 4.0 of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface and we understand that it will run Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
My ACE is better than all phones
Other phones sucks! GO AHEAD GALAXY ACE!

[Q] QWERTY/QWERTZ keyboard android

Hi,
Im looking for an android phone with qwerty keyboard. I recently purchased Xperia Pro but it doesnt fullfill my expectations - what annoys me the most is the constant (and kinda slow) refresh of (any) launcher connected with sliding the keyboard out or in.
So, my next target is Motorola Pro+. Im a bit nervous of how is it unsupported and about the shape of the keyboard but apart from this I like the bar construction with qwerty front-facing keyboard and portrait screen (better for me than landscape).
But Im pretty much disappointed with the small number of android bar-style qwerty phones there is - ie. with acceptable screen size and resolution and performance.
Are there really no (say) bar-style qwerty android phones with 1GHz cpu and 3,5" 800x480 screen and some acceptable amount of internal memory, ICS compatible?
If there are, please, write me about it. Or write me about how great and cool the Morotola Pro Plus is, despite the GB version of android.
EDIT: JUST WANT TO STRESS OUT I DONT WANT A SLIDER. IM LOOKING FOR A BAR-STYLE PHONE. OR, IF IT WAS A SLIDER, SOMETHING SLIDING DOWNWARDS, LIKE BB TORCH. THANKS.
Im looking for something like this:

Samsung captive glide is a good keyboard phone. It has s 5mp camera and a 1.1 dual core prosesor.

C'mon, I believe I specifically wrote I'm looking for a "bar-style" phone ... Not a slider! And IF I wanted a slider, then sliding down, something like a BB Torch.
Now I found something called Motorola XPRT. However, it looks like Motorola Pro Plus is better. Am I right?
What about galaxy y pro. It looks good. Don't know much about it but you can find out.

The only thing I can think of is the Samsung Galaxy Chat, with ICS. However, it has a very low res screen (320x240) and its only 3 inches diagonal. But its biggest selling point is ICS.
It has a single core 850 MHz processor and 4 GB of internal storage.

Yeah, youre right about the ICS being the biggest selling point - Id be afraid of the speed of the system though. And the resolution clearly sucks ... :cyclops:
Looks like Im ending with the Motorola Pro Plus, back to gingerbread ...
Just bumped into this - Samsung Galaxy M Pro B8700. Better-than-****ty resolution, 1GHz CPU ... looks worth checking ...

Got Pro Plus and it's a great device. As I went through other similar devices (qwerty, android, touch screen), this one offers the most (processor, higher resolution) :victory:

Samsung or Sony

hey people which phone would you prefer
sony xperia p
-1gb ram
-dual-core with mali 400 singlecore
-very good screen with qhd
Samsung galaxy s advance
-only 700-800mb
-dual-core with mali 400 singlecore (the same chipset)
-amoled screen with 800x480 pixel
for me is a good xda community very important so which would you prefer
Idk if everything is as easy for Samsung as Sony I say Samsung but never played with a Sony phone
Meh Fascinating Unicorn Devil
Don't buy any of them the flagship phone from last year ( sgs2 and xperia S) are far superior at the same price.

There are not many ROMs available for Xperia P.....you should also consider checking Arc S. It has not dual core proccessor, but its speed is decent. Xperia P's disadvantage is that there is no separate forum on XDA. If you dont mind it, then buy Sony Xperia P because it has better specs(higher resolution, more of RAM, better camera-Exmor R, better design)

I agree. Also, the previous year's models will have a lot more choices for ROMs and customizations.

sorry but im now in germany and here you cant get the s2 without the g and the xperia is over my budget (the s2 also)
BTW i have a budget of max 300 euro
both phones (s advance and xp) are pretty new so the community is surely not so big.
And i want to play games like mc3 with it:
both have the same chipset so both have almost the same performance. are they good enough to play those games??
If you are considering just SGA and Xperia P I would definitely go for Xperia.
better screen rseolution, a bit more RAM, probably officaial ICS (samsung sucks with upgrades), better camera, HDMI port.

A goodbye Story :)

Okay after owning a year I finally sold my Optimus 3D [P925]. Its quite a great phone, but sadly I never used the 3D feature . Anyway Thanks to every one who help me on making the Optimus 3D experience more pleasure. The only reason I am selling this phone is because of its weight, thickness and 2D camera quality [Photos, but the Full HD videos are good ].
Anyway cause I don't like bigger screens, I will stick with another 4.3" screen [Maybe I will purchase a HTC One S, Galaxy S2], but I didn't decided yet.
I will come back to this forum though to help others with as much as I know
Thanks Again to all contributors in this Section/Thread
hey good luck btw consider the nexus 4 ..

Sony xperia S (CPU 1.5GHz ,, dual core) or xperia SL (1.7GHz dual core)
they have 362 ppi with BRAVIA Engine that means better than galaxy S3 or other HD screen phones .
it has 8 M or 13 M camera (I can't remeber )

[Q] Best Mid-Range Devices With Great Dev Support?

I'm currently searching for a new mid-range device but I am having trouble finding a great device with dev support. I was hoping that the fine people of this forum will assist me in this search.
My preferences:
- 5.0 - 5.5in screen (5.5 is generally preferred)
- At least a quad-core Snap Dragon 400 processor or equivalent (even higher if available)
- At least a 720P screen with over 240 DPI
- Custom Lolipop Roms (not a lot, just a stable one.)
- Can be found new on Amazon for $200 - $300
- Nice UI
- Great Battery Life
I know I am asking a lot here, but any help will be appreciated!

I have the LG L90 which I feel is a midrange device at a decent price. Dev activity for this phone is booming.
I got it from T-Mobile for $55. Battery lasts all day (2540 mAh I believe). IR blaster, 720P recording on rear camera. Only thing is, the screen is about 4.7 inches or so and the resolution is only qHD. However, the screen still looks great.
EDIT: MORE SPECS!!!
Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset, Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU, Adreno 305 GPU, SD card slot, 8GB internal storage, Corning Gorilla Glass 2, Bluetooth 4.0. There are 3 variants: D405, 410, 415. D415 is the variant T-Mobile sells. D405 has slightly better specs with an 8MP and 1080p camera, and FM Radio with RDS. Not sure about D410. Currently there are Lollipop ROMs for D405 and D415, might be one for D410 as well.
