Hello fellow forumers! I'd like to make a question regarding rooting. I wanted to know if it was possible to root my Motorola Lead i940. I haven't seen any tutorials on this device anywhere, and I couldn't even find it on the drop-down list on this site.
I'd post a link to the specs/images but seems like I can't until I have 10 posts...
Android OS is v2.1-update 1. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, is it advisable to upgrade to v4.0?

Hello xda peeps,
This is my first post on the site so here's to hoping I don't break any rules .
I have recently upgraded to firmware 2.3.3 on my Samsung Galaxy S I9000 with above mentioned Kernel - XWJVN. I know there is a related post in the development section but I am yet to find a simplistic explanation of:
1. How I would firstly root the phone to access superuser rights.
2. What the most useful changes would be to make to my phone once it is rooted, considering I am still relatively noob.
3. Pretty much anything else I would need to know, ie. basic explanations of rooting, roms, flashing etc.
I apologise in advance if aforementioned have been answered to suit a newbie such as myself but I was not able to locate them anywhere on the site.
Any help would be apprecaited peeps.
Thanks
Aurnen
Hey everyone, I apologize in advance for my ignorance here. Mods, I searched for this to the best of my limited ability, and I don't think this exact thing is covered elsewhere (and I can't post in the Developers forums with a new account). If I'm mistaken and this is addressed, or if this is not the right place for this question, I apologize--please move it accordingly.
I have an ASUS ME127V which I rooted and installed Clockworkmod Recovery following the guides here in the Dev forums (this was about a year ago, so things may have changed in the interim).
Recently I've become aware of the SSL issues with Android 4.1.1, so I'd like to restore my tablet to stock and upgrade my Android version, but unfortunately I'm just coming up short every time I try to do this. I've tried the AMPC beta app that's linked to in the dev forum, but haven't managed to get it to work, partly because I'm not certain what other files I need.
Can anybody point me toward a simple step-by-step for unrooting/removing CWM/returning to stock?
Thanks for your help and patience.
Hello, Ron here.
I have a Cricket Galaxy S4 (i337z)
I am wanting to upgrade to a new OS (right?) other than the one that came with my Cricket phone. (4.4.2 kit kat ?)
I would like to see what Lolipop is like and if possible with out rooting.
I saw some threads about just that but it was for AT&T.
Since AT&T and Cricket are the same now (I think) would that be the same.
I also am not sure what would be better operating system than the 4.4.2 that is OEM on my phone.
I don't know if I want to root or keep it stock.
All I have read just gets me more confused .
From what I have seen the difference between kitkat and lolipop is like Windows 7 and Windows 8 and I absolutely hate Windows 8 . (worst os ever)
Which threads show in depth with step by step by step ( yes I am totally phone IT challenged) how to do this and what are the risks in doing so.
What are the bells and whistles available that are worth it for the upgrade.
Please use layman's terms and no acronyms because I probably would not understand what you are trying to tell my newbie brain.
I am really wanting to learn how to do this stuff and I figure you guys are the ones to point me in the right direction.
Thank you so much for your time and efforts on my behalf.
Ron
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best place to find answers is in your device's specific forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att Although it's not specific to the 1337z there are users of that device here. Start by asking here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320430
Good luck!

I bought a Motorola XT1031 Moto G (System version 210.12.57.flacon_cdma.Boost.en.US sprint - Build KXB21.14-L1.57) with Kitkat 4.4.4 from TextNow and I want to root the phone but it comes with special software from them that I don't want to lose. That software basically integrates the TextNow VoIP service seamlessly with the native dial-pad and controls of the phone. It also lets the owner conveniently know how much cellular data is remaining out of the monthly allowance. It's basically a re-branded Boost Mobile CDMA phone (not GSM).
I'm not used to writing in forums so I apologize in advance for anything I did wrong.
Can I back up what's on it or do I need to do something special?
I'm planning to use an OTG drive but I think I have to root the phone to use it.
This is my first Andriod phone and I could use some help.
What's the safest approach to root the phone that allows me to undo any damage I cause in the process?
Hi there,
All you need for your device is here: [RC-FAQ] >> Frequently Asked Questions for Motorola Moto G [Updated : 2014/02/08]. Read part where is about root, see post 2, Q8 ...
For other questions use same forum for Q&A.
Good luck
Thank you, R_a_z_v_a_n.
This thread you posted has a lot of helpful information but I haven't found anything specifically related to the special TextNow software described in post #1 (or maybe I missed it?). I tried using the thread 'Search' feature with the keywords 'TextNow' and 'Text Now'. I'm hoping to find another TextNow user on this thread with the same situation I'm in and a successful story to learn from his or her experience, assuming I'm not the first person to root a phone with the specifications I mentioned above.
Rooting an Android looks like a risky procedure because I've seen many threads where people complain about stuff not working properly after their attempts. From the lessons learned from other posts it seems to me that I will have to compromise something to root the phone and I want to know what it is before I begin. Thanks again
I'm also curious to know if anyone out there is interested in the result I'm trying to achieve in this thread.

Hello, new member here. Let me start with I apologize if there is a general tutorial explaining everything I am about to ask, I have looked and cant seem to find one. I know and understand how to root and what the basics are that it allows. I have rooted several phones for the sole reason of cleaning preinstalled apps to make more space. The problem is I bricked my last phone and am now using my new LG G Stylo. I have no real idea about what or how recoveries work. Also kernels and roms. I am looking for a general tutorial explaining pretty much everything about rooting. Like how to mAke and use a recovery, what roms are and how to use them, same with kernels. Nothing too in depth, just the basics so that when I do root this phone I can have a recovery ready and set up, and get the full potential of rooting.
Also if anyone knows of a tutorial for the LG G Stylo by metro (LGMS631) that goes over the best setup for this phone for speed, space, an functionality.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Thank You, Nikkon

Thank you, I thought about there first but figured that doesnt make sense. My questio.s are mainly general. I was only stating my new phone and asking a quick aquestion abbout that, but the main gist of this post has nothing to do with the LG G Stylo. The main questions and even topic of post is general questions just explaining what it means to root and what kernels, roms, etc. actually are. In general. Thank you for some type of feedback tho. Its appreciated.
