I need help! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hey everyone I've been flashing different ROMs trying to fox this problem but nothing seems to help. My phone gets the black screen and random reboots probably every 20 mins or so. Its pissing me off bad! Wiped everything possible 3x before I flash any ROM jb/ics and even dark side wipe 3x too and nothing helps. It still does it. I'm almost to the point of throwing this thing against the wall and using some pos go phone lol. Can someone please help me! Thanks

Without knowing what ROM you're using no one can help you. Random reboots still happen in Jellybean but they aren't every 20 minutes. Download the stable CM9 for your phone and try installing that. If you still get random reboots you have either a defective phone (not likely) or you're doing something wrong.

I'm on orthus one and it happens to me one literally every ROM I try including the stable cm9. Idk what I'd be doing wrong. I'm on sk8s latest recovery if that helps. Should I just odin back to stock and go from there?

What was your original ROM? Are you coming straight from stock ICS to the customized ROMs or are you coming from an older android version?

Make sure you're on a higher version of CWM or get on TWRP, the recovery may have had a lot to do with it
Cheers, hope it works.

I'm running Liquid rc1 v2 myself - it's buttah smooth! Check out TWRP recovery - it's a must for flashaholics. You can download the goo manager from playstore and install the recovery or flashable version available in dev section. Try it and you'll be hooked.

Skyrocket Bricked

OK you guys I have two skyrockets and one of whick was running CM9 and I loved it but I tried flashing CWM touch on Rom manager but it tried to reboot but was stuck at the first Samsung boot logo for a few secs then shuts off. Is there anyway I can I fix it or am I f*cked?
As for the second phone its not rooted yet but I am switching from Att to a different carrier but it doesn't need unlocking but my question is if I root it can I still use CM9 with out using a different radio? Im still a newb so please go easy on me.

For skyrocket #1, have you tried using Odin to go back to stock?
Also, might take a look at your power button. I've seen several posts about what appears to be a bootloop, but its just that the power button got stuck.
As for the question on skyrocket #2, you can flash roms and root to your heart's content and it won't mess with your radio.

Thanks for your help but for #1 It won't stay powered on long enough for Odin to read it.

Try doing it like in the video, if you get the same result its a stuck power key. Look for vincom's signature I think he got solutions in his second link.
Nope it just doesn't make it to the second logo but I think I'll send it to samsung its happened before and they fixed it but its would make it all the way to the art logo

Others have covered #1 pretty well, but I will say that using ROM Manager to do anything other than fix permissions is a risky proposition. I prefer to use ODIN to get CWM in place/updated.
As for the second phone, a new ROM won't change your radio, but make sure you update to 4.0.4 stock via Kies first to get an ICS radio before jumping to CM9.

i agree with the rom manager, never use it for anything other than fixing perms, but twrp does that pretty well so we actually dont need rom manager
you can get the ics radio by flashing back to stock, the prob is it might not stick the first time if coming from another radio as no recovery wipes the radio when wiping the system, but you can flash the radio(twice) seperatly in any rom to check which radio works best for the user, ics radios for ics roms, dont think you can flash gb radios on ics or vice versa

[Q] [SOLVED] HELP installing ics rom

I have had this phone before but i just got another one.
i used stock one click to get it to stock and then used antonX no oc uv one click to get cwm.
im trying to get RR rom but i cant do that if im not on ics before flashing RR rom.
i try and install cm9 but it just stops at the logo screen (left it there for about 25 min just to make sure). so i thought about using slim rom since i can just get cm7 then install slim then finally RR rom, but cm7 gives me a boot loop. i went back to stock and got cwm before installing cm7 and it still gives me a boot loop. plus i can't seem to get into cwm when in boot loop ( ik that u need to flash cm7 twice to get it working )
any help on getting cm7 or cm9 on my phone??
if anyone can help me on getting RR rom on my phone that would just be great!
EDIT: just a bad motherboard...switched it and it works fine
what is the RR rom. Never heard of it.

when you installed cm9 do you have to manually pick reboot or does it just reboot for u automatically? reason i ask is that when i try flashing cm7 or cm9 it just checks bml/mtd (i think thats what it says i can't remember) then it just goes black and reboots to the logo. when i flash cm7 it gives me a boot loop from the galaxy s 4g logo to team acid logo then loops it but when i flash cm9 it just gets stuck on galaxy s 4g logo.
i don't see whats wrong with this phone, it seems like it doesn't want to flash anything cm related..or aokp but valhalla final worked fine

Re: [Q] HELP installing ics rom
What version of cwm are you using? I thought AntonX has 5.x.x but I can't remember anymore.. anyway it has to be 5.x.x in order to work, if it's 3.x.x then it will fail. If you're using heimdall one-clicks the one I like is Eollie's cuz it works every time, I don't even boot the rom. Just until I see pink stuff and battery pull then from recovery flash whatever.

Oh and it should reboot itself into the new recovery in the middle of flashing

that should be it if not just copy paste it. its a little down the line and it has all 4 carriers.
big red is in green and make sure you get the touchwiz JB 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 download
install:
1) flash your rom and get it started
2) Back to recovery and flash KT747
3) After it install stay in recovery and wipe dalvik and cache
4) Fix Permissions
all of this at the same time you flash kt747
hope it works
Flash any kernel that has been updated to md3 source and up, just so you aren't just left with Ktoonsez as your only option, Lean kernel also works.

Flashoholics!!

Just trying to be helpful here, here is a faster way to get from stock one-click to JB goodness.....
After you flash to stock with antonx kernel reboot into recovery and flash bhundvens blastoff kernel, reboot recovery, now you should be in blue 5.0.2.8....flash the newest cm9, it will reboot automatically into recovery for you to flash a second time, but don't, instead flash a JB Rom, (I flashed chaos from dao) once it rebooted into recovery...jellybean recovery, I flashed the Rom plus gapps. Rom booted just fine.
So.....save a little time from completely flashing the whole rom, waiting for it to boot and rebooting into recovery just to do it again till you get where you want.....cheers
hopefully it saves you some time
************************just like everyone else says "I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE"*****************
just one-click back and start over hee hee!!!!
If you're saying flashing a kernel with CWM 5.x and then flashing a JB ROM is faster, we all know that already.
You are not flashing the kernel first technically. What you are doing is converting the file system.
However I thought all the JB roms had the mtd conversion script included. If they dont I would ask the person that ported them to update it with that script. There should never be a reason to flash to ics then jb.

Reboot Issue

Okay so I bought a Blaze a few days ago and I was messing around with it and I rooted it. When I rooted it I flashed a ROM and when the ROM booted up and got to the welcome screen it instantly turned rebooted itself, so I let it boot up again but it constantly reboots. Then I went back to a backup of the stock ROM and it still does the same thing. So I followed a guide that updated me to the ICS update in hopes of it fixing it but it still does the same thing! Now I don't know what to do with it. I was hoping maybe someone can help or if this has happened to anyone? Thanks in advance

Yes, the miui we have has a link to racing's blue lightning. I would try miui or another ROM again, but make sure to format /system along with wiping data, cache, and davlik. Or use black hole wipe. If you don't have anything important on the internal SD (or back it up) it might be worth it to format the emmc also.
