[ROM]tvall's cm7 - G1 Android Development

For a while I've been randomly uploading pure cm7 builds for the dream and sapphire as cm made cool changes. At this point, cm7 seems "finished" (the cm team is focusing entirely on cm10 it seems), so I stopped making pure builds. Instead, I will be pulling useful features in and attempt to make a stable, yet feature packed rom.
Release 0.01 (released on September 17 at 00:05) is just cyanogenmod 7.2 with launcher2 and magpie. More features to come.
Requirements:
A htc dream or sapphire 32b with at least danger spl (1.33.0013d spl and 2.22.28.25 radio recommended) or an old radio 32a. I test on a mytouch 3g 1.2 with 1.33.0013d and 2.22.28.25.
Flashing instructions.
1. Download the rom, kernel, and optionally gapps to your sdcard.
2. Make sure you are in recovery mode with a custom recovery.
3. If you are coming from any other rom besides the pure cm7 builds on dw9906's thread, wipe userdata, cache, sd-ext, and system.
4. Apply any custom mtd setup you wish. I don't use custom mtd so I don't know what sizes are best for this rom. (Optional)
5. Flash the rom
6. Feed the cat. he's very hungry. Neglecting your animals so you can flash roms constantly is bad.
7. Flash the kernel.
8. Flash gapps
9. Reboot.
10. Enjoy.

Sources coming soon. My current setup is a little messed up. Need to fix it.
Note: rules on using this rom for other projects
Most of android is under the apache2 license. just don't violate that and we're good.
more specific rules: source is on my github, do whatever you want within the terms of the licences. make your own rom, use it to port other devices, release a rom that is exactly the same with a new name and a shiny theme, I don't care as long as you are building from source.
If you use prebuilt anything from releases of this rom, please be nice and send me a pm asking for permission. this is supposed to be an open community, but i hate seeing 20+ cm7 roms with nothing different except name and bundled apps. If you don't ask, and you havent made something different enough from this rom to be worth having its own thread, it may or may not get reported.

is it still the same with the "original" cm 7.2?

Does this ROM support 32A devices with old radio (3.22)?

it has magpie and it uses launcher2 instead of adw. other than that it's almost the same as pure cm7 at this point.

Mytouch 3g 1.2 (the one with the headphone Jack and more ram)

new kernel. might or might not help speed things up. built with the linaro toolchain

Link not working on Opera Mini
That's weird, using Opera Mini the ROM download on MediaFire isn't working... left it for ages but remained on "0/52.46Mb". The kernel downloaded fine though
Oh well, working now, gonna try it as Cronmod is being slow on me

i was wondering, what's the difference between the "linaro" and the usual kernel build?

The linaro toolchain has a ton of arm optimizations that should make stuff compiled with it perform better. Cm was considering using it to build pretty much all of cm9, but found it caused random stability issues.
My girlfriend has been running the kernel for days and has yet to have any major issues. She also hasn't said if it helps..

and is it really the Linaro make cm7 faster? sorry for asking, just curious bout the linaro after i watched it on youtube

haven't tested thoroughly enough to confirm. This rom also uses launcher2, which is a lot faster than adw

**ONLY FOR NEW RADIO MAGIC-6.35**
Well I messed up the last update zip(updater script actually) and i have a new kernel with modules(the modules were not getting flashed before) and version is updated also.
You must use my recovery or seo's recovery, this kernel is for gingerbread AOSP based roms not for HTCsense, I'm working on getting a fully working kernel for that.
New!
Updated usb gadget
reworked overclocking tables
boots at 245/528, can overclock to 710 (depending on phone)
fix camera/audio bug
audio updated (regressed) to stock htc .29 kernel it should be ok with sense roms now
I also incorporated the 10mb ramhack, I didn't think we needed it but people wanted it and it seems good so far
some other small fixes
github is updated also, use the ramhack or gingerbread branch
carz-2.6.34.4-6355-07052011-signed.zip for rom cookers the modules are in squashfs format, you can use the unsquashfs command to decompress.
----------------------------------
Ok, I finally have great news in case you have not seen my diet gingerbread thread.
Everything is working in AOSP Gingerbread from ezterry's sources.
Updated usb to be GB compatable. Git is updated
Updated comp to 2.6.34.2 code, mic works, power issue is gone, I believe only camera now...maybe, test it out for me.
Here is a flashable zip, it's koushes anykernel version so the zImage is there for you modders as is the wlan and gps
I added the modules now also as of v0.67
Not working: camera/video
Working:
everything else?
Install cm6
Install gapps (if you want them) (also if you want maps go get it a market)
Install my port
This has been fun to learn and so far I'm really slow at it but I've managed to fix charging, power drain, sound, recording, the camera starts but has no preview (update, it takes pics).
Oh yes, It runs on all flavors of eclair and froyo, I've been testing on cm 508 and cm6 rc2 and rc3 and also on Froyorider. To install CM 5 or 6 you need to modify the install script (because of hero recovery)
------------
update: v0.70
updated v4l2 to latest
updated msm/video to latest
new camera libs instead of old legacy
cm6 hero camera
sense eclair2.1 liboemcamera.so
fixed mt9t013 driver
1/2 fixed camera
the camera starts, you get no preview...but! it does take pictures at all resolutions, we are getting closer.
Everything else is the same in this kernel, I've included all necessary files in the zip.
I didn't wipe so if you already have cm6 just flash the new kernel, if it's a new install, flash the CM6 I linked, flash the gapps, flash the kernel.
kernel v0.70 (cam takes pictures, no preview, no video yet)
kernel v0.67 (no camera)
CM6 (CM6 competly stock except will install on RA hero recovery)
Google apps (same as from link at CyanogenMod)

Good
Other functions are working? (wifi, bt, gps, etc) ?
waiting for test!
I havent compiled the wifi yet, but all other stuff is working including gps, 3d, bt, have usb and battery issue to work out, running stable for a few hours now.

carz12,
That's awesome news on what sounds like a great job.
I'm not sure if you heard the news, but Rogers Canada is currently testing 2.1 on the 32a Magic and plans on releasing the rom in late June. In January when they forced everyone to "upgrade" to their patched 1.5 version to fix the 911 emergency call bug, they also updated people's phones to 6.35. I think it's a fair assumption that the 2.1 rom they release hopefully within 1 month will run on 6.35.
Who knows what kernel they roll out, but I thought I would mention it in case you or others were not aware.
It will be good to update the Froyo port I did (or start from scratch) with the .34 kernel. Supposedly the .34 kernel is supposed to fix a bunch of stuff.
Hopefully it won't be difficult to adapt the changes to the .33 kernel (or to the .32)

In froyo source, a same change as this commit has been made. If the updates of kernel can adapt that change, then I don't think this tweak is needed anymore, but I'm not sure that tweak really wouldn't help.
This flashable contains the same kernel & modules as above, additionally comments out the tweak in init.[board].rc file in boot image. If you flash this one more time, the change to init.[board].rc will be reverted, so you can compare.

ladios, would it be possible to make use of koush's AnyKernal like drowningchild is? Or are you modding other aspects of the ROM too?
It was suggested to build a kernal update.zip here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11717285&postcount=21
If it is too much to bite off or you are too close to merging with master don't bother, I'd be more likely to test if it was kernal only.

I didn't study the code deeply. What I've done is to find out which files are new, merge them into the current source, and avoid the previous changes/hacks being reverted.

I didn't mod the rom, and of course I know about AnyKernel. I even forked AnyKernel to AnyBootImage. ( To whom who cares, I'm sorry that it's not well documented.) The problem is that the last few times when I packed a kernel, the wifi module was unaccessible. Haven't sorted out the reason yet, so I rather build the whole thing.
@all: How about battery life? mine's a little bit shorter.
mines about the same
-i could never get the wifi that builded along side to work either
My battery seems to last a little longer with this kernel...although a cannot emulate the same usage from day to day because this is my daily driver and I may get more emails and fewer calls one day then more calls and fewer emails the next...but so far it seems a tad bit more efficient. I would be interested to see what has actually changed...just curious.
Also, WiFi seemed to connect a little bit quicker, and everything else worked as normal (as in not a noticeable difference).
Battery doing good here also. Some web, plume, emails, tapatalk, few calls, screen on auto within cm7 display, auto allow decrease.

SalvageMod is a AOSP project developed by myself, Barnacles10, and echoside.
This software is built from the Android open source project 2.3.5 branch.
We are offering 1.4 both odex and deodex. Keep in mind, most themers theme deodex ROMs.
Make sure to choose what the google add-on that corresponds with your ROM choice.

Its aosp. They all work.
Downloading now.
I achieved a Quadrant score of 1460 with the last build. I'll report back after flash and restore.
Great job man. I'm just curious. Did you odex post-build or did you compile Rom with an odex option? Ive been playing with Rom building for some time now and have only messed with sense. I managed to build a stock aosp Rom the other day but would like to learn more about aosp building. Feel free to pm because I feel this post is off-topic. Thanks man.
Now that I have root again I might have to give this a go (would be first aosp Rom).

will there be any updates to the kernal? I'm not sure if HTC releasing source code changes anything...
Also does this rom still have the problem with the sensors that plagued the cm and deck roms?
Hmmm... No Go. After several attempts installing the fedex version; I restored V1.3. I was never able to boot past the htc EVO 4G screen.

Being an AOSP ROM, these do not rely on the HTC kernel code release. There are any of several fine kernels to choose from, so its virtually always possible to find one that your phone likes.
Regarding the 'problem with the sensors', can you elaborate on that? I've used a couple versions of the Evo-deck ROM and have yet to experience any issue.
I look forward to trying this ROM! For some reason, I couldn't get the 1.3 to run on my phone, but that could have been a bad download or similar issue. I was just too busy at that time. But I read so much good about the SalvageMod...I gotta give it a go!
Thank you for your time.
P.S: Thank you for offering the community both odex and deodex versions! I love themes, but the odex ROMs run way quicker on my phone.
Looks good I'll give it a try later.
Thanks lit.

I noticed there was a 1.4 deodexed Gapps package, but I didn't see one for 1.4 odexed.

Ah, I did run into this problem occasionally. I also found that when I would press the power button to wake the phone up when asleep I had to hold the power button down for a few seconds or it wouldn't wake up. I was using the SZ 2.2.1 kernel at the time, and later found that I experienced these things when using the smartass or SavageZen governors. I switched to InteractiveX and didn't experience them any more.
Thank you for your time.

MIUI v4.1 For HTC EVO 4GAs of 2.8.10, miui.com has stopped producing ICS builds that are based on AOSP. Only ICS builds now are patchrom which is a stock sense or touchwiz ROM with miui patched in. Since I port from the Nexus S, which is now built on Jellybean, all future builds will be Jellybean for the foreseeable future.

Thanks:
preludedrew and the Evervolv team. I built evervolv ROM from source to use as a base, if you want that build you can get it here
The kernel source used for this ROM can be found at https://github.com/Evervolv/android_kernel_htc_qsd8k
This ROM is now part of the MIUI.us buildbot and will be built automatically each week. You can find the EVO 4G download at roms.miui.us. When the build is synced and ready to go the roms.miui.us page will reflect the new build for the EVO 4G.
Please keep the comments on topic with regards to this ROM. If you find a bug or have an issue, please provide as much detail as possible. I'll be actively supporting this ROM on the EVO 4G so your input will be a big help in improving this ROM week after week.
With that said, I hope you enjoy it!
Downloading now...will report back later tonight after I get a chance to run through it.

What's the difference between this build and swipperrats build ?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
This build is the official MIUI.us release. I've built this ROM from the ground up using my Nexus One build as a base.
This includes MIUI.us translations in the apks as well as some minor modifications I have made to the launcher which allows you to customize the grid size and remove the icon text.
Consider this another choice for custom ROM users. After all, android is all about customization and choices.

Will flash tonight after I test swiperrats build.. will report back with any bugs..
DOES ANYONE wanna tell me what the main difference between MIUIandroid and MIUIus is?
To my knowledge miuiandroid is the official UK website and miui.us is for the United States.

The biggest difference is in the translations. MIUI.us uses US english while miuiandroid uses british english.
Then there are going to be differences in the way the ROM is ported. I take a minimalist approach and make sure not to include crap that is for other devices as that tends to cause more issues in the long run.
Oh and I also use a different kernel in this build. I tend to prefer Tiamat kernels as I know they are thoroughly tested and work quite well.
Even though to a T, Mason v0.14 No HWA No FSO is now getting solid reports of ebing better?? I know it's based on Tiamat, but having used both, Mason is def the way to go.
Not to tell you what to do with your ROM

Ok i see it now thanks, I just over looked that
I am always for further development of the work done on the infuse, but i am a little confused. Is this a theme or a Rom? From just the way the the OP reads it simply had a few theme items anyone can do off of an old CM10 base made by Scott. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I would pull your build if its base off of 9/23 ( Scott pulled it the was a problem of android os draining battery) and wait till Scott puts new build out(cause he figured it out) I'm sure u will have people complaining about the issue

His is based off the 8/23 according to his post
Based from: Scott's Cyanogen Mod 10 8/23
Firmware: 4.1.1
Baseband: UCLB3
Well I just saying I would pull it till next release(might be today) or people will complain. Just read last few pages of cm10 development thread.

Is there something wrong with Scott's CM10 8/23? I'm waiting for him to put out 9/26 anyway though

It's CM10 with minor tweaks & included apps, I'm adding much more as time progresses.
"had a few theme items anyone can do off of an old CM10 base made by Scott" Umm... Isn't that what other ROM's are also doing right now lol?

Actually not at all. I don't think you are understanding the difference at all in the roms. AOKP is built at source that had a number of features built in. CM is alos built at source and both are and AOSP rom base. PAranoid is a completely different animal also, you guessed it, built at source. The other roms on the thread are ports from work done by other devs. There are a number of jar files and kernal repos that are needed to get the roms up and running, but I fail to find anyone that has a Infuse that could create any of these roms on their phone, while this one you can.
I apologize if this comes out negative, but it is quite disrespectful in the last statement that you believe this to be true and end it with an LOL. If you truly believe you are developing a rom and advancing the community, then you will build at source or get proper authorization from the original dev to do a port and advance from there.

I was talking about CM based ROM's. And I never said I was developing a ROM just adding a few minor tweaks and included apps on top of CM10...
