I am facing some problem with my camera flash. every time I put it on and then take a pic, then my camera get crashed. I am currently on 2.3.5. Anyone else facing same problem or does anyone have any solution for it, then kindly help..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same issue on the same version. At some point the flash doesn't work (even with a flashlight app) and when using the camera the flash doesn't come on and the app crashes. I haven't figured out when or why it happens though.. A reboot fixes the problem for a while but at some point the flash stops responding again.

1. Try another Kernel or
2. If you are using a custom rom you could try to flash it again. Remember to do a Backup and do a factory Reset.
Most of times reflashing a custom rom fixes most of the bugs.

Hi, i've bought an unlocked T-Mobile HTC Sensation and was running Android Revolution HD for Sensation gingerbread. my Camera app has suddenly stopped working... I've tried updating to latest ICS from Android Revolution HD 6.5.1 but still the camera is not working. when i start the app... the screen flashes and then again I'm back on the home screen. Strangely, when using application "mirror" it starts the front camera... and that is working fine... and i've tried multiple apps from market for back camera...but its not working using any of them... can you please help me out with this... any help in this would be deeply appreciated.

Got exactly the same thing happening with me guys...any ideas?
Have updated to the latest firmware etc and wiped everything several times and tried installing it with different options but still cannot get the camera to work

this is weird did you tried other camera apps?
if its still not working then
do a superwipe and flash rom again and see(this method erases data ..so backp them before hand)
Similar problem, if i click the camera or camcorder icon the screen goes black, it either stays black until i take the battery out or it crashes and restarts?! Weird, cant use it to take pics in any other apps either. front camera is fine on skype though...!? everything is uptodate nothing was updated recently?! Anyone

This happened to me once when i was stock. I would do a battery pull and it would work again..but finally did a hard restore through recovery and cleared all the caches and that worked. Now im rooted and on energy GB rom and I have not had that problem anymore.
Just flashing a new rom did not help. I actually had to do a factory reset on the ROM as well..in the Setting/storage.

Go to Task Manager>>Advanced>>All apps>>Find the Camera app and select it>>Force Close if it is running & then Clear Data.
This should fix it.
If not, get this app. Go to primary and secondary camera, & check if they both work.
If it works, then there's a problem with the stock app.
If not, there is either a problem with the camera or with camera access.
I would suggest reflashing your current ROM, since this seems to solve issues, many a time.
Try installing another pyramid
have you tried to download a special or customized pyramid from the sensation android development department and then tried out your 4g??? a customized pyramid + tweaks will allow the htc camera to work because the htc family usually creates htc's like as if they were real babies.. the htc's adapt to you and then little by little all the problems like "over-heating reset, camera faults and random keyboard touches" are common problems with the htc... installing a different pyramid or returning it for another new one will usually fix this..

Thanks for this mate...As I said I have re-flashed the rom several times but get the same issue!
the main Camera has a red cross through it on that app..I guess it is broken?
Any help would be much appreciated!

and download the one that suits ur sense 3.6 or 4 and flash it over clock work recovery it will reflash ur camera apk with moded working fine apk i hope this will fix it peace

okay done that....took about 2 seconds to flash and when rebooted it said "android is upgrading"...
Is the camera working!?

I guess I will have to take it back to vodaphone shop now?

As far as I can tell, your camera is not being detected.
I would recommend that you do this:
1>NANDROID backup
2>SuperWipe (it can be found in this post at the very end)
3>Re-install ROM (Remember to check MD5 before installing)
4>Check if the Camera works.
If not, then Super Wipe and restore your previous backup.
If it works, get back to me. (PM me if I don't reply)
If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

Stock or moded defrrent kernel from development section there's allot of

After reboot, a tap on the camera icon crashes the phones....
I try factory reset.... But no effects , the camera and flashlight seems to be dead !!
After this, i try a full Cyanogen reflash (via fastboot), the Official CM system files are taken on Official Cyanogen Website.
During this reflash, the XMPH22R version was restored and updated to XMPH25R , but the issues stay unsolved ( tested on each time).
Please help me for to resolve this issue.

That seems to be a hardware issue because you had the sames issue on XMPH22R & now on XMPH25R.
One more thing I'd try before we rule out software is doing a DATA WIPE in Recovery Mode. Usually DATA WIPE fixes 98% of the issues most people have with a phone.

Hi,
I try data wipe into the recovery but when phones reboot, the issue is not solved.
I try many camera fix, the issues stay.
According with you, i'm thinking too that this issues is an Hardware issue.
I've contacted Oneplus Support and i'm waiting their response ( they are replied to my ticket, please try to wipe data...) for the exchange process.
When I was using stock rom 4.2.2 .17 I tried to open my camera. then suddenly I got Error! Camera not Available. I tried Third Party Applications but that did not help, but it turned out that the front camera, the back camera and the flash light not working at all. I did a factory reset and reflashed the stock rom and I formatted my SD card but still the issues not solved. So I flashed CM11 then the back camera and the flash light work again :good: .. but the front camera still not working at all. any ideas gays?

Maybe try flashing older rom, and then via USB just update software.?
I've got cm11 and it's not same camera .apk as Sony.
If that does not help, try to extract that camer .apk from cm11 and just put it in your phone (remove stock camera apk).

Hi I am using the latest update of marshmallow. Unfortunately the camera and proximity sensor doesn't work. I faced similar problem in last update also. But it started to work fine in between and one fine day it stopped again. This kind of proved that there is no hardware issue. Kindly help me resolve this issue as i have tried everything available online line clear cache, safe mode, delete third party applications, factory reset.
what OS are you using? I sometimes have similar issues on CM13 (Camera, flashlight not available suddenly), a reboot mostly fixes it
I too face this issue. Simple reboot fixes it every time. Try stock ROM.

I've been facing a problem with my j7 camera since i bought it i guess. I can't replace the phone though as i bought it from KSA and i'm currently in Egypt
whenever i use the camera the phone restarts, sometimes it says kernel panic upload and sometimes it stuck to the camera and i had to pull off the battery some other times it work when i take off the battery for awhile and i faced a strange problem due to the camera failure: when the phone restarts and i try to draw the pattern it tells me that the pattern is wrong and then i have to take off the battery and put it back sometimes the camera gives me camera failure message and whenever i open it apps start to force close automatically such as android core process , google apps, calendar , camera , contacts . i guess all the apps force close , and a few times the camera app just close without phone restarting or anything else
i tried all possible solutions and nothing seemed to be working
1-cleared camera app cache and data
2-took off the battery and put it back
3-wiped cache and dalvik cache
4-tried other camera apps
5-tried the camera debugging codes from the dialer
6-updated phone to marshmallow
7-stopped all google apps and services and other apps with the disable ability
8-and finally flashed the latest stock firmware available online
the phone ain't rooted , no cwm, and no custom kernels, other than the camera the phone is working great without a single problem
is there anything else i should try? thanks in advance

Nope didn't try any custom rom , i don't think flashing a custom rom would fix what the stock firmware didn't manage to
