CM10 - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have installed CM10 rom and I want to change it. It will not let me can someone tell me what I can do

Change to what? Another jb Rom or an ics or gb Rom?
If another jb then download your Rom to your phone, boot to recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvic then flash
If ics or gb you will have to Odin or heimdall back to stock...jellybean is in a different format (MTD) then ics and gb currently the only way back is heimdall or Odin to a stock firmware

I'm assuming you want to downgrade from an MTD version of CM10? If so, you're going to want to revert to stock and install a custom kernel and CWM recovery so you can start flashing again.
Here's how:

Easy flashing

Im kinda a noob. I have flashed to several roms (currently on serendipity and loving it.) Everytime to change roms I flash back to stock with ODIN. Is there a faster/easier way to flash? Cuz right now it takes me like twenty mins to completely change roms (not counting reloading apps and system data.) Thanks in advance

Not sure if there are faster ways, but when I flash roms I usually never flash back to stock.

If you don't flash back to stock...what do u do?

Flash the new rom over my current rom.

U still need to clear data/ factory reset and clear cache right?

normally u can just flash over previous ROMs w/o goin to stock when dealing with froyo ROMs sometimes u need to disable voodoo lagfix depending if the included kernel doesnt support it. but if u were to go to a i9000 gingerbread ROM then flash a froyo you would need to flash to stock with odin oneclick JF6(non 3 button fix only) because gingerbread bootloader and secondary boot from froyo ROMs will brick you
if its a full wipe ROM then no need to wipe as the ROM install will do that itself
But I couldn't figure out how to make Captivate Recovery 3e work....so just use Eclair to flash to roms...

Have you checked the extended power button menu? Recovery might be right there then that's all you would do to get into clockworkmod recovery- which is what you want for flashing ROMs over one another. And like you said, wipe your caches and stuff. But this goes for 2.2, or 2.2.1, not to be done between froyo and gingerbread ROMs. There might be a way to do that, but for the now the safest way is to not do that. Stick to one firmware at a time.. that's the easiest safest way for a noob to get around and try different ROMs.
any self-respecting rom chef will make the update script wipe cache, system, data, and dalvik cache.....

cognition is the only rom with a bootloader in it (perhaps the froyo perception) ... All other froyo roms are fine.

Just to clarify, if flashing to froyo from gingerbread, make sure the froyo package you are flashing doesn't contain any bootloaders. You do not need to go to stock jf6.
Froyo ROMs can run on gingerbread bootloaders, but if you mix a gingerbread bootloader with a froyo bootloader, you will brick your phone.
studacris said:
To check the rom for a secondary bootloader, open up the zip look in the updates folder if you see "sbl.bin" that would be the secondary bootloader. Don't flash that rom.

It's my understanding that the only way to flash a bootloader is through odin. Flashing a rom safely should only be done through CWM after flashing stock 2.1 or flashing a 2.2 kernal that has both CWM and 3e.
You can flash any 2.2 rom while maintaining your gingerbread bootloaders.
Correct me if I am FACTUALLY incorrect.

As studacris said, cognition flashes a bootloader (i assume sbl.bin). So it seems that odin is not the only way to flash a bootloader.

You're incorrect on several points: 1.Cognition has a bootloader in a cwm zip, you can flash a bootloader without odin.
2.you can flash a rom with odin, going to stock is still a rom.
3. It can't have 3e AT ALL or you will get a signature error and the flash will fail.
4. You don't have both 2e/3e and cwm st the same time. cwm replaces stock recovery.
5. Like I mentioned before cognition has a froyo bootloader so you can't flash that with gingerbread ones or it is guaranteed to brick, you can all other roms though just not cog.

Problems flashing ddtk3

I have cm7.2 rc0 that I flash on cm 7.2 rc5.5 that I directly flashed on ddtk3(without actually using it even once) that I flashed over stock gb 2.3.4 . Now I used Odin and wiped cache /data on the stock recovery (as well as cwm) but the phone still goes into boot loop. I want the stock rom but can't install it. Help!
Also how to root it? Don't want to use rajrocks deoxed thing cause I don't like the colour scheme and stuff.
Thanks
itworks awsome
May be you Can try this on your own risk
The stock rom links are also available there

[Q] Any preparations before flashing stock or leaks using ODIN ?

Hello
I am currently using the ICS stock leak UCLE3 , all stock and NO CWM ...
If I decide to return to stock at&t 2.3.5 (from Sammobile tar) or flash the next ICS stock leak UCLF5 when it comes , Do I have to do any wipes or cleans before flashing using ODIN ? like factory reset , format /cache , format /data or dalvik or sd card ????
I assume the stock tar files are factory images which would wipe clean anything before starting to install ... is that correct ?
Thanks
Mostly, you will have to flash the stock radio before stock Odin to return to complete stock. Other wise you won't be able to receive ota updates. Flashing stock via Odin formats everything to make a fresh install.
Another note early ics leaks formatted sd card. So make a backup before you flash them.

Thanks for replying
Shouldn't the stock ODIN also flash the package WITH the radio (modem) ? I hear that sammobile.com stock 2.3.5 tar (not konane tar) has everything (system, recovery, kernel, radio) ??
Yes...it will install everything......stock.....
read this first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26056924#post26056924
Just for anybody who might need this ...
I successfully installed CWM recovery just to do all the formats and resets for /data /cache /dalvik /system
Used ODIN to flash the stock Sammobile.com UCKJ2
Set up everything OK
Checked to updates , found the UCLA3 which was then installed ...
Everything took an hour or so ..
Thanks everybody..

Jb v4 unofficial back to ics

I'm currently on jb and I'm trying to go back to ICS. But every time I try to flash it I get stuck on the boot image? Do I have to flash ICS boot loaders?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
Are you trying to restore a nandroid backup or just install an ics ROM? Which ROM are you trying to go to?
I went from JB back to slim and remics. I had to make sure I wiped everything, and I did a fresh install instead of a restore.
When moving from a newer rom to an older rom you usually have to flash twice. In your case once from the JB CWM and then again from the ICS CWM.
I had same problem. I do full wipes and flash ICS.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
I made it so:
1) Flashed Semaphore ICS kernel with Odin
2) Viped data and cache
3) Restored nandroid backup with Semaphore CWM
4) Restored apps with Titanium backup

wont let me downgrade from 4.0.4

Im trying to downgrade my Galaxy S 4G Back to GB but when i flash GB Rom threw CWM and i boot my phone back up i got 4.0.4 rom still but wiped clean...
You have to one-click back to GB.

Like said above gotta use the one click. The partitioning is different ics roms are mtd and I believe most if not all gb roms are bml and the stock one-click will correct the partitioning on your phones memory before it installs stock firmware and then you can root and install the gb rom of your choice

I was able to return to 2.3.6 Gingerbread from 4.04 ICS by using one click.
