No camera !!!!! - Thunderbolt General

I woke up and my camera app would not open. Didn't force close, screen just went back and back to home screen. Installed camera fx and same thing. On ics leak with leaked radio since the day it dropped. I rebooted a backup and superwiped and installed nusense and newts 4.0 + 3.6. All the same result "no camera apps work" any ideas on a fix.. also flashed the camera patch

What rom are you on right now? And when you installed Newts 4.0 or Santods NuSense did you format in ext3 in 4EXT recovery??

If your on a ics ROM still, you can hold the home button and when camera pops up on the right, try holding that in. Should let you wipe its cache . I'm not in ics right now, but I pretty sure you can do that . Just don't know if I said that right lol

I would just say wipe everything make a back up of your sdcard on your pc reformat it then partition it to ext3 redownload what ever Rom you want to run, and basically start from scratch. It sounds like a lot, but I did it about 4 times today and isn't too bad the longest part is backing up your sd card. Give that a shot, I wasn't getting force closes, my app just wouldn't open.

Got this running, had to flash back to stock first, was running the previous release of miui.us, my phone didn't like the 3 button recovery loading and boot looped, looks like the in call audio was fixed though as I didn't have to factory reset after it installed and its working fine. Thanks for the work and for fixing the Verizon labeling, I know it was cosmetic but its nice that it says my provider.

Problems with liquid ics MR3

Hello guys I'm new, but have been looking at the forums for over a year. My problem is when I flash the newest liquid ics mr3, my stock camera always force closes, and sometimes it will work but the front camera will take pics upside down, also when I try to use camera zoom fx the picture will have distorted color lines at the top of the picture. Is there any fix to this. I'm tired of 2.3.7 lol. Thanks in advance!
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using xda app-developers app
Sounds like you didn't actually get the update downloaded.
The updated one can be found here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?tc4qkf7ut3z2bn6
Make sure before you install, you do a full wipe. Wipe data 3x, cache, and then dalvik.
Flash and enjoy.
And if the problem persists, run a fix permissions.
And if that still doesn't work out, let us know.

More than likely to sell more phones though I won't say HTC is completely innocent. This OTA should have been out about a year ago.
As for the formatting part.. yes. format cache, data, and dalvik but they forgot to mention it never hurts to format system. A Factory reset does not touch the system partition as that's where the OS resides. If you don't format that as well then you're just flashing one rom over another leaving extra files that could either conflict with the rom or flat out cause Force Closes.

Little Help...

This is the second time this has happened. I'm using 4.2 camera working fine. But want to install the Samsung camera and galary as well. So I pull the camera app that I want from a zip move it to system apps with es file explorer. Change permissions. Reboot. Clear cache, delvic. Then both times I get stuck in bootloop. Have to pull battery then flash a nandroid. What am I doing wrong?

So you're trying to have both at the same time? It shouldn't be but I wonder if it's causing some kind of conflict. Try deleting the 4.2 camera reboot, then install the normal camera and reboot. If that works then try reinstalling the 4.2 camera and see if it does it again

Beans ROM causing major issues!!!!!

I never had a problem with anything until I flashed beans build 6. I did a clean install but ever since my phone has been freezing nonstop. I have to battery pull every time and it is getting frustrating. I went back to build 5 on a clean install and the same thing occurs. I even tried downloading my apps one by one from the play store instead of restoring from titanium and I still get this issue. Someone please give me some enlightenment I'm desperate!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
1) What does a full wipe consist of in your case?
2) Freezing as in you can't do anything at all or freezing as in laggy? How long did you have Beans Build 5 and/or 6 installed?
3) did you have the AOSP Lockscreen installed via Aroma (when you first flash the rom)? if so, did you deselect ALL the TW options under Settings/Lockscreen?
4) Do you check the md5 before flashing build 5 or build 6? If not, what do they say when you check now?
AOSP lock screen was the culprit that required me to pull my battery. I have no problems with the tw lock screen on B6. Battery life, GPS, performance is great on B6.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
When you enable AOSP lock screen you must disable all other functions in the same settings menu. Everything must be off. I'm running it flawlessly after doing so.

Full wipe for me would be factory reset/system/cache/dalvic
It would freeze and I wouldn't be able to do anything so I had to battery pull
I had some settings turned on for touch wiz lock screen and I've turned them off since and I think that may have been the culprit. They were there as default however.

I was using cwm and switched to twrp actually and I think that may have helped... There is no telling though. I would go back to cm10 but I have constant call issues with it even with late builds. Probably my phone being temperamental though. I am one that believes in doing clean installs though so I know my problems aren't from a so called dirty flash. I wish I could import my desktop layout into trebuchet because I always feel that it was the fasted launcher for me.

Weird stucks on 4.1.2

Ever since I uploaded from 4.0.3 ICS my phone has been getting "stuck"... The screen gets crazy if I touch it, the other buttons won't respond. The only way I seem to fix it for like 2 minutes is by locking it and unlocking it... When I bough it, it came with 4.0.3... Since then I moved from ROM to ROM...
4.0.3=>4.1.2
4.1.2=>4.2 Cyanogenmod
4.2=>4.1.2
4.1.2=>4.0.4
4.0.4=>4.3.1 BeanStalk
4.3.1 BeanStalk=>4.3 PAC
4.3 PAC=>4.3.1 BeanStalk
4.3.1 BeanStalk=>4.1.2
I left cyanogenmod because I didn't liked the look of my phone and because I wasn't able to play some of my favorite games.
I left BeanStalk because the camera.app kept crashing and forcing reboot.
I left PAC because the keyboard wouldn't show up and I wasn't able to finish the set up.
I left 4.0.4 because some apps were too new for it.
On 4.1.2 I get a lot of times stuck, but in other ROMs (even on Stock 4.0.4) the frequency of stucks were less...
I'm sorry for my awful english. I am from Argentina.
I'm really freaking out because each day my cellphone gets stuck even more!

They are saying do it again. Either something went wrong or your phones screwed quit being so hard headed about the advice we're giving. You came to us asking for answers remember that.

Oh sorry I didn't understood before. Maybe it's screwed but the thing is that in BeanStalk it didn't got stuck but I wasn't able to use the camera. Also it didn't got stuck in PAC but the keyboard wouldn't show up and display error messages all the time. I might go back to 4.0.4 since it works better than 4.1.2 (in my case).

Move all your files(pics,movies,music etc) to your computer. Format everything and try Odin again. Make it like the phone was new right out of the box never used. Troubleshoot from there.

Thanks!! So far my phone is working perfectly! I'm going to download my old apps one-by-one to see which doesn't work or could cause a problem.

I think it's cache/data from previous rom that was causing your full "stuck".

You think it's clean I'll bet there are some artifacts, also I'm doubting you format your SD cards.
