is there any other ways to unlock the note 10.1 without using power button? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

as title, is there any alternative ways to unlock the devices without using the power button? for now, i am using screen off and lock which is able to switch off and lock the note screen, but still need to use the power button to wake it up. so just wonder is there any kind of apps like tap tap which is using the proximity sensor or another physical key to unlock the device?

With CM10 you can unlock with volume buttons. But it's not ready to use on Note 10.1 yet.

Pull out the s-pen, it's work!

Then save and reboot, now you can't open camera with the button , but you can close and open screen with it (include power off)

So the power button calls the camera, and the camera button calls screen on/off and power on/off?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Kinda cool but why do that?..now you have to be left handed and push the power button on the side of the phone to take a picture ,right?
Unless u feel like tapping the screen which is hard to do while trying to keep the phone steady..

Maybe he's left-handed? lol Maybe a "I can do this am I'm gonna" thing... dunno.

Camera key Atrix 2 is suck, hard to press --> shake -> blur image
thanks! it really makes life much easier for the incipio case - where the power button is a finger killer , damn too hard to push.
I'll try it soon
edit: seems that it doesn't works for mine :\ btw there are a few more files in that folder that have the key 212 CAMERA line, should i try changing them also?
Would it be possible to map it so the camera key works as the power on/off with a short press but still start the camera app with a long press?
I agree with the Incipio case. I ended up placing some small chunks of tape on the buttons before getting it in the case. It makes it so there's less travel needed to make contact.

Sometimes it will happen, perhaps camera button is working on wake time.
So, you can use camera btn to close screen.

Can we have slide to wake like htc does?
I guess it will save our hard button.

I think the camera button (after some time on sleep) still wants to call for camera, rather than wake. If I use the power button to wake, then sleep via camera button, that works. I can then wake via camera button and sleep, but if left in sleep more than 5 minutes or so, the camera button won't wake....

[Q] On screen keys

When you use the on screen keys how do you take of the other ones I use nstools but they still light up when I start it up and I have to touch them to turn off the light how I permanently turn them off?

Why you would want to use the on screen buttons with the Nexus S? If you do this, than what are you doing with the real buttons on the bottom of the phone? Isn't that just wasting more screen real estate by using the on screen buttons?

What's the current problem? Setting BLN to 0 turns my cap buttons off (effectively) permanently while using the phone.

Manually through sysfs or NSTools (same thing). You may need NSTools or an init.d script to do it each boot though.
I used nstools but with nstools everytime I turn off the screen and turn it back on the touch keys would light up still and I have to touch them again to turn of the light I want them to stay off

I just tried myself using the latest stable Trinity 1320 and with timeout set to 0 and bln on the buttons stay off even after switching the screen on and off multiple times. Unsure what's going on there. What kernel and version are you using?
I was trying it on the maxr1x 19.5 I haven't tryed on v20.0?

Now that the kernel source is released is it possible to unlock with volume buttons? Is this being worked on?
Also, is it possible to take pictures using volume buttons?

To take a screen shot, go into settings - dislplay and there should be an option saying quick launch, tap that and select screen capture.
Hope i helped.

the quick launch setting was removed in the jelly bean update. so yea use power and volume to take snapshots you need to get the timing right as you need to hit both at the same time not one then the other.
