A1cs fusion5 premium+ - Android General

Morning all,
I am looking for tablets for both my boys as they currently have ipods.
I love android currently owning the zopo zp200 phone.
After few days of reviews, videos etc i was going for the google nexus 7 then i came across this which is on amazon:- A1CS FUSION5 PREMIUM+
Does anyone have the plus version and were you able to root it?
Looking for a decent tablet for round 200 mark instead of buying overpriced ipad's, being used for odd game, surfing, youtube and xbmc.
Best wishes
Pete :good:

What Tablet should I get?

Hi all,
First let me say I want to stay away from the iPad. After getting royally burned with the 4.0 iOS upgrade on my iPhone 3G and now having to live with the degraded performance on it and lack of future support past 4.2, I doubt I'll ever buy another apple product. I was never one to drink their cool-aid anyway.
But now to the question at hand. What Tablet should I buy?
The main reason for the purchase is so I can watch videos without having to drag out my laptop. I don't want to have to convert the video to be able to play it. I just want to watch 350Mb/1.1Gb TV shows on it without having to worry about planning ahead of time.
Ideally, I would like GPS capabilities on it. 3G is not really required, I can tether it to my phone (i have a plan for that) or will be using it in areas where wifi is available.
I've been looking at a few tablets, namely the Motorolla Xoom and the Viewsonic Viewpad 10. The Xoom seemed like a nice enough device, especially with honeycomb, but it seems to have issues with HD video. The reason I picked the viewpad 10 was for Windows 7, but android 1.6 and the little disk space available left on it after windows installation makes me wonder how effective it will be as a tablet. Having windows 7 on a tablet would be amazing. I would love the flexibility it would afford on the tablet.
So does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks for the help!
Do you want to have 7" or 10" ?
For watching Video it will be better with 10".
How about Galaxy Tab 10" ? It's honeycomb and very light.
I am running the Acer A500 right now and am very impressed. It got some poor reviews compared to the Asus Transformer in terms of the battery life and screen quality... I have been off the charger for almost 15 hours, watched an entire episode of Stargate: Universe (streaming btw), a few hours of web browsing casually, a few rounds of Let's Play Golf, and of course the good old forums and I am still at 40%. Pretty damn good I think. Tablet and Win7 really is a cumbersome ui and the battery life terrible there (I own one). Honeycomb has quite a few MINOR bugs to work out, but I am only considering the Asus if the screen is really a lot better. Just my opinion but ihth

depends what you want to do with it, first 7 or 10 inch
If you say seven and don't mind messing around with a tablet and enjoy rooting and modding the nookcolor is nice and a lot of fun. that being said if you want working honeycomb out of the box look elsewhere. Also the nook tablet won't be as smooth as it's not a dual core or anything like that, but i still love mine.
If your TV rips are 24p (and most of them probaly are) then they will not play smoothly on the G-Slate at the moment.
Tegra-2 does not do advanced profile, so if your rips are from the net they will most likely not play well and require re-encoding. Tegra2 does not do 8x8 transforms, cabac or p-frames all of which are generally used in "scene rips."

Post 1 of 10 for posting on dev thread
I'd have to agree with Skyfox99 on the newer Acer recommendation, or if you're ok with waiting a bit, the HTC Flyer looks pretty good too.
Sadly, the i-Devices have the fastest graphics processing at the moment, but soon there's going to be new chips released to top it again.
I did forget to mention it, but I was looking at 10" Tablets.
I was digging around a little after I posted this and did see the Acer A500 and the transformer. Both seemed to be great machines. I was actually aiming for the 16GB transformer. 16GB would be plenty and would only cost about 400$ plus tax and S&H, and I can always add a MicroSD.
I'm in Canada though, and it seems both the A500 and Transformer are either unavailable as of yet or back-order. But I'm willing to wait for those since the price seems to be right and so far I'm reading positive reviews.
I've read about the Tegra not being the best at doing video, another reason why I was looking at the viewpad 10 that has an atom cpu.
I dont mind putting down 300-400$ on a tablet, as long as it does what I want from it.
Thanks for all the answers so far!
wait for sony s1 and s2!
buy iPad 2
A friend of mine got the XOOM and he was happy with it for a couple of days. When it comes to productivity the Xoom doesn't really stand out. It's really just a enhanced version of a phone without the calls if you get the wifi only version. He returned it a week later for a refund and is getting a Ipad 2.
I think Samsung Galaxt Tab2 is a good choice.
I'd recommend WeTab with MeeGo
If I had the money: ipad 2 because of Netflix support.
But for affordability: Asus

Palms new tablet looks pretty cool, but is only if you are rockin a pre 3 with it because of the touch to share innovation.
I agree with groe. The new Palm or should I say HP tablet looks pretty beastly, with the Pre3 along side it that is. Otherwise I'd say go iPad 2.
Persoanlly i wouldn't get any right now since they're all coming out with tegra 2. And as stated before, tegra doesn't do very well with high profile videos/real HD videos. But if I had to, I'd get the Asus transformer since I fancy the lappy dock. But we all know how "limited" in supply it is. =.=
Galaxy Tab
I would get the Asus with the tegra 3 cpu... yum!

[Q] Tablet 7 inch advice

Hello guys
Im looking at purchasing a 7 inch tablet for the wife, i would just buy her a gtab, but she wants something small enough to fit in her bag, so ive been looking at 7 inch tablets. Here are some that ive looked at so far.
NOOK Color (bezel is prob gonna be too large for her bag)
Elocity A7 (looks good, but prob wont be getting HC)
Viewpad 7 (this looks good)
So thats what ive looked at so far, im sure im missing plenty of other good 7 inch tablets out in the market that i just dont know about.
If you guys could pass on some suggestions and comments on the ones ive looked at, i would be truly thankful.
NOOK Color is 7" I have one it's really good lots of rom but I upgraded to the G Tablet for the 10 inch. I would recommend going with NOOK Color and I have one for sell lol .
+1 for the Nook Color. With the latest stable CyanogenMod rom on it the thing is pretty cool and it has really good build quality and it's cheaper than the Viewpad 7".
I got the Color Nook for my wife and now she can read her books, play most android games, and watch movies on the Netflix app.
You can likely find the 7" Galaxy Tab for cheap with a bit of looking. Woot had them last week for about $270 shipped. Not much developer support for it, but Samsung is rolling out a 2.3 update, and that may be all you need. I bought the Sprint version for my gf off of Craigslist for $250, and it's a solid little tablet. I keep it in Airplane Mode to conserve battery and just use the Wifi part of it.
Thanks guys for the feedback, i like the look of the Nook, how big is that bezel ? looks kind of large.
Actually compared to some 7" builds, IMO, the bezel adds to the solid-ness of the NC. (just under 2cm each side) I have two (one to tinker and a daily driver) and enjoy both. Load the CM7 (7.0), netflix and Aldiko you're good to go. Very very simple to root/flash.

First tablet running ICS for $99

Couldn't find any topics about the Ainol Novo 7 here. It's been on the news the past week for being the first tablet unofficially running ICS but I think there's bugs, I saw their topics over at slatedroid and news articles lately have been saying it's coming to the US.
Apparently there are two versions of it
Ainol Novo 7 Basic: ~$99 US (their MSRP)
JZ4770 Xburst 1.0 GHz Processor (MIPS)
GPU: GC860
512MB DDR2
7" Capacitive 5 points Multitouch Screen
800 x 480 pixel resolution
8GB Nandflash built in
Camera: Front 0.3MP, Black 2MP
Ainol Novo 7 Advanced: ~$149 US (their MSRP)
Allwinner A10 (Cortex A8) 1.5 GHz Processor (underclocked to 1.0)
512MB DDR2
7" Capacitive 5 points Multitouch Screen
800 x 480 pixel resolution
8GB Nandflash built in
Camera: Front 0.3MP, Black 2MP
Youtube of it running ICS "trial version"

Runs a bit slow with some bugs, but looks like a good deal it's going to be for $99.
Looks interesting. I guess we'll see ICS on just about any kind of device in the coming weeks.
As with this one, finding out if the device itself is good and of quality is often difficult. I guess most people will still go for the bigger manufacturers and pay more because of it.
But it's companies like this one which will help push tablet prices down and become accessible for the masses.

yeah and thats the main thing... Look at the $99 Fire sale HP had. They had no idea how good that would be for them. Now they are looking into more frequent fire sales.
And even if it is a bit "laggy" these youtube videos I've been watching make this thing look almost as good as the other tabs. I mean no one expects a Xoom to eber be $99 bucks, but these companies will make them lose out on sales if they don't drop prices a smidge..
by the way, ordered this bad boy few days ago, should get it a week after Christmas.... if anyones interested, will post a real detailed video. if anyone would like me to test anything in particular let me know.
i think it is superb..
Let us know how you like it and post some pictures.
THANKS IN ADVANCED.

Yup so true. I own the 32GB Touchpad ($149 bought during first firesale) and it's great for what I want to do, which is mainly web surfing, watching a lot of YouTube, email, and a few games. Although I have not yet put on CM7 on it, it's still a decent tablet for me. I was trying to score another Touchpad during the last firesall on eBay last Sunday, but the servers were hit so hard, I missed out on the chance. I want to give something cheap to my 2 little kids since they hog up my Touchpad watching YouTube videos (mainly YouTube playthroughs of Wii games like Super Mario), and I was taking a look at this Ainol, and for $99 each, if it can stream YouTube vids and play Angry Birds and other kiddie games, I will gladly buy my kids 2 of these for Christmas.
NOVO 7 running ICS beta
I bought my NOVO 7 ADVANCED about 3 weeks ago, and I'm really happy with mine. I popped ICS on it and it is fantastic. The script someone here posted to make the market work is nice. Of course there are issues with the video during screen orientation changes that I'm told is due to the video processor used in the tablet. My initial reaction is that it's not ready for prime time, but really close.
c
I ordered one for my wife for Christmas and I have been playing with it for a couple of days before wrapping it. I Ordered mine from TopNotchTablets and they provide a service http://topnotchtablets.com/node/113 that installs full market and a few other things for free before they ship to you, if you want it. Nathan provides great support and has a great rep on Slatedroid. So far it will meet all of my wifes needs and more. It has a long battery life and is fast. For the price and support you can not beat it. Jump on it.

[Q] Trying to find the right tablet

Hello XDA community
I've been trolling the forums for a while now and finally made an account.
I've been searching (very, very hard) for a android tablet for about a month now and it seems like I wait a week to buy one and then when it comes to buying it, a new one is coming out in another week. (EVERY TIME!!!) It's very frustrating. I just want to get one and like it.
So, I was wondering the recommendations you guys and girls can give me. What is a good tablet right now based on my needs for < $300?
Features that I would like would be -
Android 3, 4 upgradeable
GPS
HDMI output
USB 2/3.0 socket
9.7"
Good flash playback
Netflix
Games
Support from community? custom ROMs?
Right now I'm set on buying the Le Pan II (Quick Amazon search will show it + specs) when it restocks, despite the low support for modding. I really like the layout, it isn't too widescreen nor is it too square.
I was looking at the Iconia A500 and the Iconia A200, but the price is a little bit out of budget.
Thanks,
Shea

New to Android, looking for a good gaming tablet with decent size

Longtime apple user looking to make the switch. I updated my firmware on my old ipad 2 think hey its only going to 9.3.5 it should be jailbreakable still.....WRONG. Now its stuck on a crappy OS that should have never been put on that old of an ipad.
So I purchased an ASUS Zenpad 8.0 z380m thinking all tablets were the same(yes im a dumb ass for not doing my research first.) Its a decent table but lags on playing minecraft pe with my kids. Its not rootable and from what ive seen there are no custom roms for it. I want to get the full android experience.
I was looking at a few different tablets and not even sure if im in the right ball park
Xiaomi Mi Pad - tegra k1 should be enough power?
Shield K1 - its kinda small and hard to find, one thing I loved about my iPad was the size. I got really big hands.
Samsung galaxy tab s3 - I can hold out for a couple months and get this threw purchasing power but its price is a little steep for me.
Google Pixel C - Birthday is this saturday so depending on what the family decides, I might talk everyone into chipping in and helping me get this
In the mean time I just bought an asus nexus 7 (2012) used on ebay to tinker with just so I can play with roms and what not.
Any other suggestions?
