[Q] Question about SCV7 ROM - Motorola Atrix 2

Sorry for my English because i come from Taiwan
Does the following steps are correct?
1. I am on ics 4.0.4 leak and rooted
2. Boot menu installed
3. Click “Custom Recovery” on BootMenu Manager into BootMenu
4. Wipe data
5. Click “Install zip from sd card”, not restore, because 1st post has mentioned that this is a FLASHABLE ZIP. NOT a RESTORE
6. Flash scv7leak2fixed.zip (download form 1 st post on UPDATE 9/13/12/ changelog)
7. Enjoy
I have some questions hope that someone can help me
1. I found that there are many ics leak version for Atrix2, which one should I flash? Is it the latest version (ICS.672.1.18.en.03.zip (08/27/2012) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1758824
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779968
2. Do I need to root my device before flashing ICS leak? Because I am using Asia version, so I need to flash AT&T 2.3.5 and then update it to 2.3.6 via OTA. As I know, I will lose the root after OTA update
I could not found some information about that in above link(link on question 1)
3. Where should I put the ics leak .zip file onto sd card? Is the the root of the sd card?
4. Where should I put scv7 rom .zip onto sd card? Is the the root of the sd card?

Congrats, your english is better than 80% of the people who grew up with it....
But back to the point, are you currently living in Taiwan?
I am asking because as I was reading through the SCV7 I remember someone saying that it was for AT&T only. This may not be true though as I didn't follow that issue.

Yes,I currently living in Taiwan
As question 2 mentioned, I will flashing at&t 2.3.5 and then upgrade it to 2.3.6 via OTA.
At the moment, I just want to know which ice leak verson for atrix2 is suitable ? Becasue I found that there are more than five leak version

simple question. I9020A rooted running ICS rom. Do I accept OTA update?

Hi there,
Since my phone is a I9020A on Fido I rooted and currently running CM9 ICS rom, should I accept any OTA update or do I have to manually install it through CWM?
No, it can screw up your device if you do it like that. Just do it manually like everyone is doing.

Only difference between odex and deodex is that deodex is for theming. Odex boots faster.... And if the radio you're using right bow is working properly you don't need to flash another radio

Ok so I flashed 2.3.6 back stock for OTA rom from the thread in this section and now for some odd reason I cant access my CWM. Whenever I try to it shows some box and triangle thing flashing
tried to reflash CWM using Rom Manager and kept getting an error.
Doh!
To the handful of people getting OTA update on i9020a, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get either:
a) name of ZIP file
b) URL of ZIP file
c) copy ZIP file and upload (should be in /cache folder I think)
(preferably all three)
Once you install it the file is deleted and you lost your chance, so please if you downloaded update don't apply until you get at least one of the above...but preferably all three, you would be a hero to all of us in this thread with i9020a wanting update. This is AT&T/Rogers model.

The OP states he is running CM9 Kangs... He isn't getting the update since he is not on stock -- I think he is just asking how to actually take the OTA when it comes.
I am on Fido too in Canada and I can assure you, I have not received the OTA for my I9020A yet... Once it is available for my I9020A, I will post all the information here (if the I9020A official OTA is not already posted, that is...)
if i flash back to stock with root will i still receive OTA on ns4g?? even if with a different kernal?

I think the kernel has to be stock as well.
I just downloaded OTARootKeeper app and have reverted completely back to stock; I am patiently waiting for the i9020A OTA.
Hopefully we get it soon.
I don't mind a little wait though... by then all the other bugs and such with SuperUser app will be figured out for ICS.

I downloaded Voodoo OTARootKeeper from the android market. The description of the program claims it should hide your root during the ota and according to the apps latest reviews, it works on this ics upgrade. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works and hopefully the super user app from the market will be updated by then to handle ics.

Also, Superuser has been officially updated for ICS, so you don't really need to use OTARootKeeper. The new SU works just like before.

I'm pretty sure that it's going to take a long time for KT to update to JB. M200's update is from KT not Google. That's why it takes more time for M200 than other variants. But you can always root and flash custom ROMs like me.

Thanks for all guidance.
I have managed to update my Nexus-S (M200-Korean) to Jelly Bean.
First I updated with the stock image of international version using this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...20&postcount=1
This changed the baseband version from M200 to XXXKl1
After reboot I was able to get 4.1.1 via OTA
I haven't seen any problems so far
Are there any that I may not have experienced yet?

Radio compatitability depends on where u live.
If you experienced problem, look for this thread

If it's not compatitable, it can cause sudden signal drops and low mobile data speed.(afaik)

This is the link. Follow only the first procedure. Then you would automatically get JB via OTA.

I am from Kolkata,India.Using m200 korean model.Have the same problem as the threadstarter.I guess when you're using it smoothly then inshallah,i too would.
Just to be pretty sure, you're telling me to follow ONLY this:
First up, let me tell you that doing this is not necessay to get the OTA or having a smooth JB experience. The JB OTA installs without a wipe which means the data is preserved.
UPDATE: Google has put up the full image for 4.1.1 [i9023, i9020a and i9020t] . Now you do not need to clean flash ICS and then JB. Follow the part 1 of the guide below and flash the JB image instead of ICS. Nothing more to it.
Thanks anshumandash for pointing it out
That being said, I wanted to have the real stock image on my Nexus S and then Upgrade to JellyBean. Below are the steps that I took.
Go to this GoogleAndroidImages page and download the appropriate image for your phone & download. Since mine is an international version a.k.a I9023, I chose that ROM.
The download will be a tar.gz file. Use a utility like 7Zip to uncompress it. The tar.gz will have a .tar file inside and the /tar file will have a folder. Extract the folder to your PC. For my download, the folder was named soju-imm76d
Next Steps will wipe your phone, completely
Reboot your phone into bootloader mode.
Open a command prompt, navigate to the folder in step 2.
Enter the below commands, the image file names are for my download, modify it to the file names in your folder before running (I assume that you have fastboot working)
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-crespo-i9020xxkl1.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-crespo-i9020xxki1.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update image-soju-imm76d.zip

Yes you too can try..
for me, after the first step , I rebooted a couple of times and automatically got JB via OTA.
Insha-Allah you should also get the same.
But proceed with caution and download factory ICS image from google.

I don't believe you can go to ICS with out FXZ back to 2.3.5. Read the below thread to get started. Its for AT&T Version, if you use different version phone make sure you FXZ back the correct Image to get started.

Yes, the easiest thing would be to fxz back to stock first, then install ICS.
For AT&T only:

The 2nd from the bottom (InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID285.zip) is the AT&T 2.3.5 fxz (you would need to use the 2.3.6 "replace" files from the beginner's thread with this one)

[Q] ICS Update Fail Error?

The ICS update isn't installing on my Atrix 2. The download process will finish and the installation will start, but it stops just a little into it and the phone will restart saying that the software update failed. I purchased the phone used and it was already rooted when I bought it. Will that keep the update from installing? How can I unroot or flash back? I'm new to all this, so I'm not entirely sure what to do and I don't want to try anything without knowing anything for sure. I don't want to mess up my phone. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Ok, I'm assuming you bought it used? And if so, why firmware are you on?

Have the same problem. Have rooted Atrix 2 on 2.3.6, official update is downloaded, but after "install" it just boots back to 2.3.6, and in About device section it says "Update failed."
General question now, how to officially update rooted phone?
Well all of you have modified or removed some of the stock system apps.of you are rooted go into cache/recovery and see the last_log it will give you the reason why the update is failing.
If you are not rooted just fxz back to stock and then try.

Also thanks ashwasah for providing link.
Dears i like to tell u guys i am absolutely new with Android this is my first android phone.
I have experience of updating windows phone, i had HTC touchpro 2 and HTC hd2 several time i update custom rom on it. And off course all this i learn via xda and helpful memberz like you guys.
So therefore kindly guide me as new student. I have few questions
1. How i get into cache /recovery to see last log coz i did see any option in cell to find log.
2. If i am able to get stock 2.3.5, can phone starts normally and can i use it because this is at&t phone and i am using in in pakistan with other gsm carrier.
3. Can cell update via OTA to 2.3.6 and ICS after stock.
4. Kindly mention link how to downgrade to stock, i mean procedure.
any other thing which is helpful in this regard.
Thanking you.

Well first of all you need to be rooted to see the cache folder.if you are rooted download root explorer or es file explorer.using that you can go into cache folder and see the last_log
Anyways if you wanna return to stock use the procedure from here and you'll be good to go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29560267
And yes if you fxz back to 2.3.5 you can OTA to 2.3.6 and then to ICS but in the link above now you can directly goto 2.3.6 just read the post and follow the instructions carefully

I did see that one (along with the many others, lol) but moved on after seeing "2.3.6". Will go back and read thread more closely.
Thanks again.
