I just sent 4 attached pictures through my gmail app and it is going on 5 minutes now. Im using my wifi(optimum) at home right now and its going on 5 minutes now, still sending. It does this when i use my service provider too(simple mobile). Still i see the sync icon on the top of my phone and if i go into mail, its still in the outbox and sending. Is something wrong? Each photo is about 6mb.
If something is wrong its on my phone too im on tmobile and frequently after waiting for a long time it just fails to send altogether. Yahoo mail is a little better

It's because the FBI is backlogged with work because of all the data flowing through the internet they have to review.
I think Gmail freaks out if you try to send more than 10mb

I am running the infused 1.5.3 rom and go sms. When I try to send a picture to my friend who has the exact phone I do and also my wife who has the iphone 4. They are both receiving this message
"Your phone is not compatible with this message type or size. Portions of this message will not be displayed."
Yet pics I send to my friend who has verizon go just fine. Is there some setting I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

does your phone ask you if you would like to resize them when you try and send...if so are you selecting yes
are there any other changes that you have made like:
freezing thesms/mms app
using a different sms app
etc etc
and then the same goes for their end...
have they made any changes, do they receive pics from others and only not yours

I am using go sms and I've tried stock sms. I haven't froze any sms apps. It doesn't ask me to resize, just the usual compressing or resizing message it normally gives without prompting for a user response. My friends infuse is stock and not rooted and my wifes iphone 4 is jailbroken but nothing has changed anytime recently with it. The apps I have frozen is just media hub. Yes they can receive pics from others and send them as well.
Edit: I have media hub, maps, and news & weather frozen.
Actually it just reads "converting to multimedia message" no prompt for anything. Very frustrating as to why mainly verizon people are getting my pics and not others. Thats how it seems anyway.
As far as trying to send pics that I actually took with my phone then forget about it. Longest I've had it sit is about 15 minutes before I get pissed and just delete the send. Those stay stuck on "sending" and never go anywhere.

I use handcent...in the settings there is an option of "max mms message size limit"
I believe you want that to be 2mb...anything over that will not send to some phones.
that has been the only instance where some people did not receive my msgs.
Have you tried on wifi and network? I have not noticed the issue on att, but on sprint you could not send or receive mms while on wifi
those are the only things I can think of

I do currently have it set to 4g 5M for the photo size. I could give that a shot. Still odd that it would not send to my friends infuse I have tried wifi and att network and home I have the 3g microcell which is NOT worth the $200. I'm kinda pissed I bought it.
If you want full bars yet calls cut in and out and you want to resend each text about 4 times cause they will instantly fail (happens no where but when I'm connected to microcell) then pick one up lol
But yea the mms issue happens elsewhere as well.

I kept the size the same for now but unchecked preserve image size and now it seems the pics send. Yesterday it would be stuck on sending. I can only test with people at work. The ones with issues are asleep right now. Hopefully that or the 2m image size fixes the issue

I have an issue with my texting that recently happened, I for some reason can't send Pictures anymore, I was able to do it 2 days ago but I can't today and part of yesterday, I was wondering if some settings I need to check or something, Its really frustrating since I need to send Picture texts a lot. Right now the only way I can is using Whatsapp!
Its weird it really started after I went into apple to complain about my moms Iphone... I think apple did something...lol
What APN is in your phone?
The apn is the Att pta

I fixed it. Now I can send pictures and text messages .. This is what i did.. On the APN just reset it to default . And it will work again. It works.

Hi all -
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727 and I have just rooted last night. This morning, I am unable to receive MMS picture as I usually can from my girlfriend, who is an iphone user. If I send an MMS pictures to myself, it works fine. I read somewhere you have to reset your APN settings, which I've done but it doesn't seem to have changed anything. I've also rebooted a few times. I should tell you that I have backed-up and uninstalled the stock messaging app, since I use Go SMS exclusively. I tried to restore it but was unable to. Could this be the problem or do I need to make more changes to my APN settings?
Thanks in advance
If you search for skyrocket APN's you should get an idea of the settings (PTA is the only one I use)
If you long press the message, does it let you see the attachment/recognize the message as a mms?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
na
it just shows the text - no mms. I got one successfully from my brother (who's on an android), so i'm waiting to see if I can get one from the iphone
take a look at GO SMS in the market and what it supports; it may not support MMS. A lot of apps don't process MMS texts just fyi.
So message details only recognizes it as a SMS, but only when sent from an iPhone? Can you have them turn off imessage? I'm going to guess that's part of the issue
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
Just thought id mention this, my mom, dad and sister all have iphones and tried sending me MMSs yesterday, did not work just continuously say downloading.
however i called my mom and while on the phone she sent me the mms again, i checked it while on the phone and it successfully downloaded.
could it have been a fluke? or is there something that changed while i was on the phone?
I had constant moms problems with family/clients using iPhones with imessage enabled
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
If you turn off DATA or momentarily don't have data on; MMS will stick at "downloading...."
you have to disable "Auto Retrive" in Messaging settings then attempt to download the MMS again.
hm if android receives android, I bother it is the problem of your phone.
What you should do is a simple delete and install from the market, to start again.
If nothing changes, I should throw you girlfriends iPhone in a lake and take care she will get an SGS2
Any solution?
Hi all,
Has there been any sign of a solution for this issue yet? I just rooted my GS2 LTE and can not seem to send or receive MMS to anyone at all. I do not want to download any other aps to do it for me, I just want to figure this out. I've also read a lot about changing APNs, any ideas on that?
Thanks in advance.
Guys how can you expect any help if you don't include a carrier in your post?
I know that for rogers when I flash a new rom I have about 4-5 APNs in my list. I actually have to remove one labeled MMS from the bottom of the list and leave the one that is marked as LTE. Then after a reboot I can get MMS no problem. BTW GoSMS does do MMS, I used to use it but have since been using the stock SMS/MMS app.

Sorry, it was late at night/ early in the morning. Thought I included he fact that I was with Rogers. I also have a few APNs. I've played around with a few of them and now I seem to sometimes be sending pictures. It's entirely inconsistent and still takes over 5 minutes to send on the rare occasions it decides to.

I may have found the solution to my issue. I deleted all APNs and made one Rogers APN to act as all of them. I used the instructions I found on a website which I am apparently too new to link to. So far I have managed to send and receive picture texts to myself 100% of the time within a reasonable timeframe. I will be back if that changes when I message other people. Thank you all again for your help.

My dad recently updated to ICS (Thanks Team Acid) but when someone sends him a picture a box comes up that says download as opposed to the picture just being there like on my phone which also has ICS. Can anyone help me fix this? It's important as he needs the pictures for work.
P.S. Nothing happens when you hit download. Just says downloading and nothing happens. Checked his gallery for download pictures and nothing new was there.
Help is much appreciated!

If your talking about MMS then you need to check something on your side, MMS works fine on my side, my friend sent me a picture of his Math Homework
Check settings in the messaging app and see if auto retrieve is checked.
Make Sure Data is turned on.

If his data was turned off, then he wouldn't even receive the message. His problem is that he could not see/view the picture that was sent to him.

Actually that's wrong, he will still receive mms but he would have to "download" it to view the picture.

@OP Google "TMOB MMS APN" and see if your APN matches. If all that is good I'd call TMOB.

Can you explain this further. When I had Virgin Mobile they had many growing pains when they started selling the optimus v and with that several data outages. When data was out you couldnt ever get mms pictures. I got a couple free months of service because of that. I was told by sprints level three techs mms would not be transmitted. As in you would never get the message unless data was on.
If I am misreading what you are saying please ignore. But I am almost positive you still need data to get the mms. Not just to download but to receive it.

I don't know if its just the way t mobile handles mms but when I have my data off I will still receive a text message with the subject of the mms and an option to download (obviously it won't download it unless I have data enabled)

Does anyone else have issues with Gmail not sending attachments, particularly pictures and videos? I've always had this issue across multiple phones/ROMs/carriers, and it's very frustrating. The only solution I get that works is to reboot my phone. What does that mean?
I've tried over WiFi and mobile internet connection. Both just sit in my outbox until I restart the phone.
Currently on Liquid Smooth 2.8 (official) paired with the latest ktoonz kernel. Latest version of Gmail.
Ideas anyone? Anyone else experience this?

You're definitely not the only one bud, I've had it happen to me. I gave up on it since I noticed it wasn't working regardless of what I did to Gmail. For me, I realized it would be easier to transfer it to my computer and send rather than to mess around with the Gmail apps limitations. It wasn't pressing enough for me since I don't send files from my phone via email.

is it only attachments that don't send? if they sit in outbox go into your app list and wipe the data and cache for gmail..I usually have to do it after I restore a ROM..I've sent 10mg byte multiple pics with no problems...
sent from a violated Vzw Galaxy s3
The other day I tried to email myself 8 pics and the message sat in my outbox. I tried rebooting and clearing data/cache nothing worked. I finally got them to send by splitting it into 2 emails with 4 pics each. Maybe a size limitation?
