Since Verizon is going to release a new update soon is there anyway we can keep root on update or should I just flash the stock image to prevent any problems?
dont flash any update till the devs approve as the update may bork our unlocked bootloader method.
Agreed, you may have difficulty rooting after the update. There will be an active version of the OTA jb released here. Stock one and modified ones. Plus you could be waiting a long time for vzw to release it. We'll probably have it well before everyone else.

I messed with one the other day. It needed to have an increase in the animation speeds. Seemed a little slow. That should be an easy fix. See if Spare Parts works.

From there you can install either Rom manager or goo manager to flash recovery. Goo manager gives you TWRP and Rom Manager CWM. I prefer TWRP.
Also some folks complain of looking their emei but that can be restored so far I had no issue.

If you want official ota! Just wipe the data from Google framework in settings and then go to system update and it should pull up that you have a android update and promote you to download. Not hard at all!.

Because official is the same build number as the leak k3. If it was different than the build number would be changed.

Try it again. You may have been down a rev on ICS. Since these are differential upgrades: If you're on A, you have to be on B before you can go to C.

Hello I've just bought a note 10.1 and wondering how to root it and if I will lose any functions as I saw something about that somewhere? All I want the rooting for is to access system files (I want my saved game data from my phone on my tablet haha ) and I just like the fact I have the option to do anything on it but I'm not looking to change the rom or anything as I'm very happy with it at the moment and since its new it will hey official updates of the latest software so could someone offer any advice and a guide please? Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Rooting is pretty easy because of the exploit and with this method you will not increase your binary count so no issues and you will not lose any functions.
Just install this app on your not
Run the app and click on Root device and you are done
No worries no hassels
The credit goes to the developer of the app !!
Wow that's got to be the most simple way ofbrooting a device ever thanks a lot!

Hi,
I have bought just today one Galaxy Note 10.1 16GB, then I have upgraded it to JB 4.1.1 and now rooted it with simply two click, WoW! Formidable!
Now, I check for alternate kernels similar to Syiah, Speeedmod ...just for curiosity for now.
Thank you for the quick link and thanks to Chainfire!
Be careful when flashing a new kernel on the new stock roms make sure they are compatible

Anyone know the answer to this? While this seems like a gloriously easy method to achieve root it would be cool to still receive OTA updates. On the other hand, I already got the JB update so maybe I shouldn't expect any more OTAs anyway?
You will still receive ota. And jb won't be the last upgrade for this tablet haha we will get 5.0. Samsung is getting really good at updates.

It doesn't have one if you use the exploit. The easiest why to add a recover is using team win recovery. You can install it via app on the play store. The app is called goo manager. That's what i use and I personally like it better than clock work mod.
