Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum. I hav just got HTC Desire S and facing problems from the first day. The problem with my fone is that it freezes every now and then in approx everythng like calling, messaging, browsing r even watching movies/pictures. Sometimes, i have to press the touchscreen for a longtime and it starts working while at some moments this technique doesn't work and i have to lock the screen using power button and then unlocking it restore the previous work that i was doing on it. this situation is very much annoying for me and making me crazy:crying:. I am new to android and this is my first android fone. when i bought it it was on:
Android Version: 2.3.5
HTC Sense: 3.0
Software No: 2.10.161.3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.10-g9ac6c7a
Baseband Version: 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M
Build No: 2.10.161.3 CL156318 release-keys
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
I updated it via RUU to ICS and thought that the screen problem will be gone but my bad luck that it is still there. After update:
Android Version: 4.0.4
HTC Sense: 3.6
Software No: 14.01.401.2 710RD
Kernel Version: 3.0.16-gce03037
Baseband Version: 20.76.30.0835U_3831.19.00.110
Build No: 4.01.401.2 CL434411 release-keys
RADIO-3831.19.00.110
Plz help me guys as to how should i be able to get rid of this problem.
Another question is:
This problem is hardware related or software related???? and if software related either the HTC Sense is creating this mess or the ROM.
Waiting for your helpful advices....

My first thought would be HW issue, because you have updated your ROM with a newer version and the issue still persist. In that case I would call the HTC service desk or the store where you purchased the phone and sent it for RMA.
As you mentioned your phone is new so make use of the warranty.
BTW if this issue occured the first day then you should sent it as a DOA. That way you should receive immidiate a new phone.

Thnx for ur early response. Actually it is not a new fone. I have bought it from a second hand market on check warranty so the warranty is ruled out. I didnt knew that it will create problems afterwards. At that time, it worked perfectly. Even now, sometimes it works really fine but sometimes just freezes and i either have to wait or press the power button twice to make it usable. One thing more that i need to share is that when it freezes the process which is running doesnt stop only the touch screen doesnt respond and the soft keys. e.g. during call, the touchscreen freezes but the call continues and if i need to activiate loudspkr it doesnt respond as the touchscreen is freezed. One i checked it during video. i was watching a video song on it and the screen froze but the song was still playing. i rotate the fone, the display also rotated and the screen began to work. I am not sure, what is the problem with this set...

I'll add a screenieView attachment 827857
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
I have been having issues getting text messages on my phone too. I was sent a replacement phone last week for the static in calls issue and now randomly miss text messages from people with this one.
I'll be calling Verizon to complain today as well. I think I'm done with Samsung phones after this and the bum Fascinate...
The about phone information is the same on a ROMed phone as a stock (at least it is on Infinity). If they try to make you do a master reset, be careful! On my last phone they did it and it soft bricked my phone on the reboot (screen stopped responding and I had to Odin back to stock to fix it).
Hi there,
I was recently given a htc desire S so i could work on android app development some more, but for some reason its stuck on no service/emergency calls only.
In searching google i landed back at xda developers after some years (used to have many xda's/htc phones), and discovered the "rcmix3d runny s v2.1" rom, but as i've not installed the custom rom myself, i don't really know much.
I'm very new to android and was hoping someone could help me to resolve the issue?
What i know is the following info about the phone, what i don't know is the original network provider;
---------------------------------------
Desire S S510e
Android Version: 2.3.5
HTC Sense version: 3.5
Software Number: RCMix3D Runny S v2.1 [proxuser]
Kernel version:
2.6.35.10-g71db9d1
[email protected] #1
Fri Aug 12 12:39:13 CST 2011
Baseband:
20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M
Build:
1.01.401.1 CL176843 test-keys
Browser:
Webkit/533.1
---------------------------------------
I'm not sure of some of the technical states, though i do know the phone is rooted as the Root Check Basic app reported this.
I guess ideally i'd like to just restore to a working android rom - i think the factory version was 2.35 Gingerbread, however, i don't know (1) what network the phone was originally on, or (2) whether the current state might prevent or cause problems in trying to restore an alternative rom.
Note that when i was given the phone i used an online service to provide me with an unlock code which i think was successful, though i've not been able to test.
I'd be real grateful if anyone could provide some guidance or pointers with getting the phone working! - At present it works perfectly outside of being able to make calls.
If there's anything further i can provide, please let me know!
Thanks very much,
Ant.
Just wondering if the phone is locked to one carrier while your SIM is from a different carrier.
Hey BillGoss,
When i was given the handset, i used an online service to provide an unlock code.
I entered this and i believe the hendset is now unlocked to all networks - I have tried tmobile, voda, o2 and orange sims, but all show 'no service'.
I'm pretty sure the unlock code worked, because prior to entering this, certain network's sim cards would result in a message asking me for the unlock code - since entering the code this doesn't show.
Though i'm not sure as i don't know too much on the android side, i think this could be a baseband issue... Just don't have a clue how to go about changing this or identifying the real problem.
thanks for your reply/suggestion though, appreciated.
Anyone else have any ideas? - thanks!
Hello everyone, i would like to ask 2 questions, if you could please help me with that:
1- I'm living in Asia, and i'm thinking to move to Europe. I've got the Asia Baseband, can I install the Europe Baseband ? (I'bought my ChaCha in Dubai, with English and Arabic Qwerty Keyboard.)
2- I've got a battery drainage problem when the mobile is connected to the mobile Network (No Data On, Only voice Network) If i got the phone charged to 100% at night, when i wake up in the morning I find it 20% - 15%. And when i put it in "Offline" mode and leave all the Wi-Fi on ecc. I dont get this problem, I can charge it to 100% at night and find it 100% in the morning. The question is what it could be ? It does happen with my mobile Network on (No Data, only voice)
Note: I've got the Arabic HTC ChaCha A810e and Iv'e installed this Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500866

about 1st question : NO!
but for ur 2nd question i guess ur battery is not original one!!! i have chacha for 2 years , i leave it in night with 100% and give it at sunlight also with 100%. look around for a new battery... if u change ur chacha ROM please go back to your original ROM , Bcoz most of ROM such as Cyanogen change your battery usage.

Thank you for your reply, but about my question 2, i've got the original battery and when i use it in "Airplane Mode" (offline) i don't get battery problems, example, i can browse the internet with a Wi-Fi connection for hours, but then i cant use it to make phone calls It happen only when the phone is connected to the network And for the stock Rom, i stupidly forgot the backup my Stock Rom, but anyway the Stock Rom was crap because of the lack of memory, with this Rom with the Ext4 support (To expand the memory) i can install so much many apps, but i get this problem of the battery when the phone is online that others didn't have, i still can not fix the problem :/

Hello,
I am confuse on how to update my HTC One S right now, since I have rooted my phone with SuperSU and have TWPP v2.4.3.0 .
The software update kept popping up in my phone and is really annoying for my HTC One S T-mobile.
How can I update my phone? since when I choose to update, it restarts my phone and went to the TWPP screen and I couldn't do anything about it. I'm new to rooting phones, so please help.
I want to get the new software versions and other new things for my phone.
Thank you.
EDIT:
My Andriod Version: 4.1.1
HTC Sense Version : 4+
HTC SDK API: 4.63
Kernel Ver: 3.4.10 SMP
I just got a HTC m7 801e 16gb version which seems to be for the middle east (dubai especially ) . The phone during set up somewhere states that it is a "test device " and that htc Tell is installed and turned on which helps htc collect information and reports about the phone and can't be turned off. My major grudge is that there is no option for a software update (even under the settings -About submenu) on the phone. The phone comes with:
android 4.1.2 ,
htc sense 5.0
kernel version is [email protected]#1
1.29.1402.25.CL190183 release-keys (build number)
5.12 (HTC SDK API level)
The camera has the horrible purple tint in low light which i just cant seem to get rid of.
Please guys , i need to know if it is possible to run a software update to lollipop or even kit kat on this phone and how i can activate or check for software/firmware update on it since it ( software update ) is not in any options currently on the phone.
Or is it possible to totally root this phone and install a stable custom ROM on it?
Or am i just jinxed because i got a device for "testing purposes" even though it came in a retail box et al ?
Hi, the best place to ask about your device is here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/help Also see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one
