Resetting flash counter - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

That day i read in an article that every time we flash something which is not samsung,a binary counter detects it...and may result in void of warranty(many of u already know it) .My question is...what happens to that flash counter after we flash a stock firmware again over a custom one(say cm-9)....is it resetted to zero again???

No flash counter in SL
Its in S2 note and other devices
So don't worry happy flashing

to factory reset rooted Samsung galaxy y running on stock Rom

hi my friend have Samsung galaxy y recently rooted only rooted no custom Rom he uses stock Roms now he gets so much hangs so he decided factory reset it. i want to know is it safe or he will brick it?? please help we both are noobs

With the information provided i think it is unlikely that you will brick the device by factory reseting it.
thanks.. here someone said me that never factory reset a rooted phone running on custom Rom.. so i little afraid but mine friends one is still on custom Rom so is it safe right?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using XDA App
Maybe if the custom rom was using somekind of partition , but generally i would say reseting a custom rom won't brick a device.
Reseting a custom rom does not restore the factory rom, but reset the custom rom to its install state.
Its virtually im possible to really BRICK (a real BRICK is something that needs a JTAG device in order to get it working again) a device by reseting it, the worst case scenario is that you have to reflash the rom.
but i have stock Rom so what happened if i factory reset? what i will get after reset a rooted phone or unrooted phone? please help

The device should still remain rooted since the su binary was placed in the system area which factory resetting does not affect (you will just have to re-install the Superuser app). See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17348395&postcount=2.
thanks
so in other words you mean we should not to play with system file right?

by d way where is thanks button? i don't see it in my official app
Sent from my GT-S5360 using XDA App
Sadly its not in the free version of the xda app.
i have other query! in our unrooted phone apps can't access root.
so if i root it so it is possible that after rooting i make my phone more damageble by malware coz now they can change my system setting also!
Sent from my GT-S5360 using XDA App
is somebody there for help???
Sent from my GT-S5360 using XDA App
Theoreticly yes, but the SuperUser app is there to prevent that.
thanks if any malware crashes my system than what should i do? factory reset or anything else?
Sent from my GT-S5360 using XDA App
Safest would be to flash new ROM / same ROM again.
thanks if i factory reset does it automatically flash ROM Also? please don't angry i.m just a little curious and want to learn something better from a master like you!

You could say so, but you have control over what gets root access and what doesn't. Apps can only use root access if you allow it (you have to grant it Superuser permission).
can someone answer my last question?

I've even bought this program: Triangle Away to run on my N7000 but the I9070, says the Triangle Away is not compatible ... and now?
Send Chainfire (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=631273) a PM. He is OP/ Dev of this app. He maybe tell you wat to do. Maybe is a chance that after bypass the compatibility test soft handle your device with your kind of custom rom.

[Q] Reset Bin Counter

Hello, has anyone tried to use the USB Jig to reset the bin counter on 4.1.2 ?
My display stopped working after some time and i need to give it for warrant.
What i've read in other threads is that the usb jig won't work on JB.
Do you think that the counter would reset if i would install a custom rom like CM10 or just use the bootloader, use the jig to reset it and then just install the samsung stock 4.1.2 firmware from sammobile?

There is an app called triangle away
It resets your binary counter. But if u boot into custom recovery again the counter will increase again. So use this app right before you flash stock via Odin.

The problem is that my screen is not working and i cant see what i'm doing. Dev mode is not enable so i could do it over the pc.
I'm kinda out of options. I dont know if they will notice the counter if the gpu is broken, cause the screen is in tact.
Well if you have lost your display completely then it's going to be a problem. Im still confused. You lost your Display due to Software issue or Hardware?
If software try flashing firmware. If hardware like lcd is dead.. try connecting via hdmi, wlan, samsung play etc if ONLY our phone supports it.

Its a HW fault. Installed stock etc, nothing helped. the screen turns only sometimes on. Even while booting its off. You think HDMI will show my screen on my pc or tv so i can try to use triangle away?
Anyone able to guide me how to enable adb while in recovery mode so i have access to my screen over the PC. I've found a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2238286
but it doesn't help me much out.
Solved
So, i've managed to use the ADB while in recovery and enable it in the settings files when the phone is booted. After that i've managed to install triangle away and reset the bin counter to 0. Dropped the stock and now going for my warranty
Took me some time to do that. Had a lot to read, but it was worth it.
Well done, good to know that adb can help in such cases

According to this, it does http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23951568&postcount=15
But, there are also others who say from experience of sending their device with a different country's official Rom, that it doesn't.
Depends on one's luck?

It should not void it cause its original samsung firmware, but i'd suggest to get back to the stock of your country.
Just to add that i got a brand new phone after a few days. They did not tell what got broken tho.....
