[Request] Please guide me through pimping my HTC Sensation 4G - HTC Sensation

First of all, thank you to all the people on these forums that are patient enough to guide noobs like myself to achieve the best from our devices. :good:
I have a HTC Sensation 4G on official version of ICS updated via the OTA update. HBoot Version is 1.27 & S-ON.
I have been reading a lot and I'm finding that I'm overloaded with information that I'm totally confused. I would like to achieve the following and I have no idea in which order it should be carried out.
1) Root, S-OFF, Clockwork, SuperCID (I believe this would be the first step, also I initially thought that to Root was same as getting S-OFF, but after reading it seems they are not. Also not sure of advantages/disadvantages of SuperCID)
2) SIM Unlock phone for all GSM bands
3) update to latest stable version of HTC Sense 4.?
4) Get Beats Audio
5) Install custom Rom (Don't know which one would be best)
6) Any other suggestion to get the most out the HTC Sensation.
There are so many guides that I'm lost on where to start so I would like to take baby steps by doing one thing at a time and making sure that it works before moving to the next step. I have seen 1-click tools/utilities but not sure if that is the best approach. I would be very grateful if someone can please guide me to the most latest (and hopefully easy to follow) guides to my HTC Sensation 4G pimped. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance

Thanks very much elvisypi. Looking at the info on the first link it seems soo complicated, but I try and follow it once I get a chance. The second link is not working for me. Third link looks good.

Thanks for the beer.
My bad. HERE is the second link. Don't worry, just be patient and follow the threads strictly and you'll have no probs. I myself found it a bit difficult, but they are all one-time procedures. Then, things will be easier
To make things simpler for you. You should:
1)Unlock bootloader (go to the htcdev website and follow the instructions)
2)Install recovery(when it says to put the phone in fastboot turn the phone off, pull the battery then push the vol down + power button)
3)Root (go to recovery and flash SuperSU)
4)S-Off with Juopunutbear. I found the wire-trick a bit difficult myself, but just keep trying untill you make it
5)Super CID (It's easy)
6)Now you can flash every ROM for the Sensation, with every CID, you have unlocked all the capabilities for your phone. You can flash kernels, radios, RILs, whatever you want
Forgot: First install HTC fastboot driver from HERE.

How-To
Click on Step 1 and you have Root!
Click on Step 2 to flash recovery! You must flash a ROM manually after rooting!!! For whatever reason it is, ROM Manager does not operate correctly after the downgrade.
Remove all the file not need after you've completed all the step by clicking Extras > Clean root-files

What recovery is this going to use?
Lets you choose
After I just finished a few hours ago reading every post in the other thread and following all those steps!
Way to go, jiqqaman! This will help out quite a few folks on here.
Awesome. I rooted my phone earlier (at least I think I did) and I can't get any rom to install. I think it has to do with the amon-ra recovery so I'm glad this will let me choose.
Does it matter that my evo may already be rooted?
Damn your quick.
Wow Amazing if this works I like very much. Great work put up a more prominent donation button
Such a tease!
so this will root a phone that did the 6/29 OTA? just by following these steps?
Where do I get this util?

Jiggaman, you are DA MAN! BTW, check your PM. =)
also jigga, i noticed the first step is a factory reset. is there any way to back up any of my apps and/or data before doing this considering i dont have root privileges at the moment.
Will this do full NAND unlock?
Sorry if that is a noob question.

Its alittle more difficult to do without TitaniumBackup which requires root... you might wanna checkout MyBackup on the market see if it works or not...

I dunno anything bout unrevoked , but this doesnt give you the latest radio/wimax that the 1.47.651.1 OTA has. Theres a guide that shows you how to add the latest radio/wimax somewhere on the forum.
I'm using this as my very first post here.
On my old evo I used simple root and it was amazing! I had to return the old evo and get a new one, and as luck would have it it came with the new update.
I can't wait for this new simple root to be uploaded, I keep checking this thread every 5 minutes.
Anyway, one this program is up, running and working I assure you I will be clicking the donate button.
Thank you for the work and effort you are putting into this.

well unrevoked basically let you do anything root would except remove bloatware and flash roms
cuz what i was planning to do was install the update directly from my phone and then root with this method .. if i do that will my phone have the latest radio wimax added on to it already?

[Q] How to downgrade my Desire s from ICS back to GB

Hey all im new to posting here so if I have posted in the wrong section I do apologise in advance also im not very technically minded when it comes to Android so if i seem quite newbish please don't hate, I recently upgraded my desire s to ICS using HTC ruu becuase vodaphone UK where taking the absolute mick in rolling out the ICS update so i did it myself but now i want to re root my phone but am unable to find any infomation on how to root a ICS desire s the only info i can come up with is if i am on gingerbread so i see no alternative then downgrading back to GB to root my phone i have a gingerbread vodaphone uk kernal but have no idea how to flash my phone with it so i was wondering if anyone could help me either root my ICS desire s or downgrade my desire s back to GB so then i can root it easily cheers for the help in advance

reading the index thread is highly recommended before proceeding as to know what is it exactly u are doing at each step.
I agree that ubadito should have read and make sure he understood what he was doing and where he was going before blindly proceeding to flash the ICS RUU. Too many people go headfirst into flashing a RUU or a custom ROM without asking themselves a minimum set of questions and make sure they have the answers before proceeding : Will I loose my data, and how to avoid it if I don't want to ? Will I be able to go back to my previous ROM in case of problems with the new one ? Will I loose my warranty ? What is the best path to follow for me ?
I sometimes think that SimonTS is a bit rude with is answers, but I must agree with him on the substance of is message. If there were less people asking the same basic questions again and again it would be easier for everyone to find the information they are looking for instead of wasting time reading the same questions again and again.
That said, @ubadito you can indeed gain root without having to go back to GB first. Here are the steps to follow :
- HTCdev unlock your bootloader. This is now mandatory for you as your on ICS ; even if you'd want to go back to GB you'd have to unlock your hboot. You had the choice to S-OFF without HTCdev unlock before flashing the ICS RUU but now it's too late and, if your DS is still under warranty, you will loose it.
- flash 4ext recovery by using fastboot ; you can use 4ext Recovery Updater in order to download the recovery image on your DS, but it won't be able to install it. You'll have to copy it on your PC and flash it with fastboot.
- flash SuperSU from 4ext recovery.
You'll then be able to get root access on your DS and modify your build.prop in order to correct the link issue.
All those steps are explained in detail on XDA. All you have to do is read the stickies and make sure you understand before going on.

You've only been a member here for a month so I really don't think that you are in a position to do something like that - I quite willingly take criticism from some of the people on here (they are well aware who they are) and admit when I am wrong.
I have had enough of trying to point people in the right direction when they refuse to search or read first. I'll leave it for all the recent comers to the forum who haven't got annoyed enough yet with the same repeated questions over and over again, or who actually feel that they look good by getting a "Thanks" on their meter.
I will continue to attempt to help those who have a genuine question which couldn't be answered quickly by searching, but the others can flounder in whatever mess they get themselves into as far as I'm concerned.
When I first joined XDA it was to assist in gaining S-Off and root on my DS - back then the only way to achieve this was with a piece of hardware called an XTC-Clip - and if you didn't follow the instructions perfectly and know/understand EXACTLY what you were doing then you were almost guaranteed to end up with a brick. I didn't go posting stupid questions or asking people to tell me step-for-step what I had to do. I read the stickies, read the threads, found out what the pitfalls were, what I needed to prepare in advance, what might happen, how to get round it - and then after about 3 weeks of solid reading I went ahead and gained S-Off and root with no problems.
There are some really good people on the DS forums still, but the majority have moved on to new devices, as I have. I despair for the future of XDA if the current trend continues - it's not just on the DS forums, but is widespread across the entire site and the Mods don't seem to be willing/able to clamp down and do what should be done to prevent this place destroying itself.
I didn't mean to offend you. My apologies if I did. As I tried to say I agree with you and I really appreciate your contributions. English is not my mother tongue and I may have used inappropriate words.

Htc Sensation Xe - Cyanogenmod 10 install guide - HELP!

Does somone has a updated guide for this. I have done nothing to my phone yet its running on the standard rom.
this post might help
So your wanting to root, s off, and install this custom rom? To direct you to proper guide first you need to know your H boot version. To find your H boot version you pull battery, put battery back in, press volume down and power at the same time, a white screen with information will pop up. At the top of the screen will be your H boot version. Please list your H boot version here then we can refer you to the proper guide for your version.

Thx for the post, if read trough kind a. And its more of a explanation of why and how things work. And at the end there are 3 options i can choose which would you recommend?
I would install 4 Ext cause with it you can flash custom Rom with S-On.
just followed ganesh's guide.....
new to HTC Sensation XE (previous Samsung)
New to ADB/Fastboot (had nice ODIN before)
Wire Hack - not that bad
Just download all files needed and FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Literally just did it in about 30-40 minutes. NOT hard, but not easy either
I did the S-off (bear version)(also did auggie2k CID mod) and then his one click root

I unlocked my phone via the htcdev site wich went fine but the fastboot and -bear are not working properly?
Is it maybe because of a update from htc??

Seeing as this is Pinned and I See no point in creating a thread just to get it lost in the Cluster.
if you want to add this
All_IN_ONE.zip - 22.59 MB
To the OP for resources
its a zip containing drivers/recoveries/adb.exe/fastboot.exe and most importantly a nice script to allow end user to do anything booting different recovery, flashing different recovery, reboot tools, and steps and links on how to Root and S-Off
If you feel its useful add to OP, if not no hard feelings.

Yes please! I need this as well.
Asked in another thread and got a response from someone saying to get back to stock recovery you "do the same thing you did to get the custom recovery, just use the stock image instead".
Not so helpful without a link to a stock recovery image

Look through QBKings videos found here. Please note, his videos, on the M8, are all listed in the black box on the right.
All of his videos regarding the M8 can be found in this link. You may find what you need in his tutorials.

Great Information
:good:
I'm wondering if "how to videos" that discuss rooting, custom recoveries, custom ROMs, etc. should also include a warning about accepting OTA updates?
Lots of Galaxy S3 and S4 users unknowingly accepted OTA updates to find their phones were now hopelessly locked down and no custom recoveries could be installed.
I personally believe ALL carriers want their phones locked down securely and do NOT want anyone to be able to mod a phone in any way and with this belief comes the thought that any phone such as the M8 will sooner or later receive an OTA that will lock the bootloader.
A warning about OTAs couldn't hurt anything...

You'd have to spend $$ to purchase "sunshine" and judging by your lack of experience you could blow your phone up and kill everyone in a 10 meter radius.
Unless you know what you're doing don't mess with s off.

You don't need s off to install a custom rom.
Since your rooted and have TWRP installed you just need to download the custom rom of your choice and flash it per the developers instructions.
I suggest @LeeDroid 's rom it's the best of the best IMHO.
LeeDroid U11 ROM thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/development/rom-leedroid-v1-0-0-beta-fast-stable-t3623657
Read and re-read the OP carefully and you'll be fine.
About halfway (or more) down the OP you'll see "A quick whistle stop tour of flashing a custom build". It'll tell you how to flash the rom. Search the thread for answers to any questions before asking. During installation of LeeDroid you'll have many choices... choose carefully.
Download Lee's latest version from @Droidit! 's r127 Drive link Here:

MAKE A TWRP BACKUP BERFORE FLASHING!
When a newer version is released the guyz (like Droidit! ) around there will post download links in the thread.
A must read thread:
[COLLECTION] HTCU U11 – RUU/Firmware/Recovery/OTA/Backups
https://forum.xda-developers.com/u11/how-to/collection-htcu-u11-ruu-firmware-t3612048
A lot of information and helpfull links for how to's... Read and re-read it.
It has a spreadsheet link to "HTC U11–RUU/Firmware/Recovery/OTA/Backups" downloads.

A couple of questions:
Which version U11 do you have?
Do you have ADB enviroment setup on your PC?
If not, You can go to the 15 seconds ADB Installer thread here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
For me ADB is a must.
Hope this all makes sense and helps you out.

Thanks friend, I'll try the suggestions
if something does not work out as expected I can use the back up to revert the process and leave the OS as it came from the factory, right?
