Hello everyone.
I'm new at the forums and I have a several questions.
I have Samsung Google Nexus S (i9023) smartphone and I have a Jelly Bean installed on him.
Last couple days I was watching about new android versions and now I want to put on my Nexus S miui android.
So can anybody tells me basics, like what is kernel, how to unlock Nexus s, what is ClockWork Mod, what does it mean the option "whipe chache" and what is the best version of miui android for Nexus S and how to install it.
Sorry for my English, this is my first forum where I registered so please be patient with me xD

[Q] New to Android - MIUI on HTC Desire S?

Hi everyone,
I got my HTC Desire S almost a month ago, and this is my first ever Android phone. Now, I don't like HTC Sense that much and I'm not really impressed by home launchers like GO Launcher or Launcherpro.
I like the look of MIUI a lot, especially because of its 4-icon dock and iOS-like homescreen(s) so I'd like to put MIUI on my HTC Desire S but I've noticed that there are many versions of MIUI, so I'm a bit confused.
I have searched this forum for information / answers for my questions, but I cannot find a topic that lets me understand every aspect of it.
These are my questions:
1) How do I root my phone?
2) How do I put MIUI on my phone?
3) What version / type of MIUI is the most stable?
4) Can I still install Android-apps in MIUI?
I do have experience with flashing the firmware of a LG KM900 Arena (S-Class UI) if that helps.
Greetings,
Nilscollection
Hey!
check this : [GUIDE] A Complete Tutorial for the Beginners and Others
you'll have to check if your device is already s-off first... if it is s-off then you can flash custom roms with rom manager or recovery

1) & 2) take a look at the index thread inside the development section, there are a few links about this, but root itself you got with flashing miui cause it's prerooted, but I suggest you have to put your bootloader to s-off, how to do this is also in the index thread
3) as much as I know is every version stable, it is build up on the previous with bugfixes and sometimes new features, because of this I think you could take the last one, to be sure take a look at the miui thread itself and check the bugreports
4) yes miui is still Android
Swyped from my HTC Desire S
1) No need to worry about root as it's already pre-rooted.
2) If you're going to install MIUI, you need to S-Off your phone. Then you can install it by downloading it to your SD Card and install it from recovery.
3) The latest version is fine. There are 2 different version that i'm aware of. Official version and MIUI US version. I'm using the US version. MIUI is updated on a weekly basis.
4) Of course.
Do check the pinned guide for more understanding on basic terms and more advanced stuffs.

Hello, welcome to the forums.
Here are the cyanogenmod forums for your device, and here are the downloads for the mod for your device.
Finally, here are the instructions on how to install CM on your device.
Remember: always backup!
Edit: All I've posted are for CyanogenMod7. Your device is not officially supported by CyanogenMod9.
Here is an unofficial version of CM9 for your device, look it up before installing it however, since it is unofficial and thus it is not fully supported.
See forum for your device .
Or easily .
Get CWM , and download the ROM and flash it

[Q] Question about custom ROM developing (Help is needed)

Hello!
I am an AndroNoob and haven't done much. I just have rooted my phone, used odin twice and tried to get cyanogenmod. I have got the Samsung Galaxy Xcover (GT-S5690) and i really would like to have android 4.0+ on it or even run 4.0+ apps on it. After about 5 days of searching a custom ROM that works good and is android 4.0+, i decided to make my own one. I just want to ask you, is it possible to use android kitchen or something to just get the original rom from sammobile or some other place and just make it be ics/jb or get likes 4.0+ firmware for galaxy ace or something and make it work with my xcover? And if so, how easy will it be (Should i even start using/wasting my time on it)? And last if possible i would like to have the samsung style android
And i would be so happy if i can get it done, get my xcover run ics/jb!
Thanks for any help and sorry for my bad english.

[Completed] [Q] [Help]Nexus 4 to Official Android Lollipop, from rooted device and custom kernel

Hi! I'm new on this forum, greetings to everyone! I'm asking you a guide for updating a LG Google Nexus 4 to the new Android Lollipop when it will be available, you will say that it is too easy and I have to wait only the OTA Update, but my Nexus 4 is rooted (with busybox, xposed, Gravitybox, Amplify-Unbounce, Knock code and so on) and it has Franco Kernel, so I'm not sure of compatibility and I don't want to have problems. Maybe it will be useful to other little modders, Thank you! :fingers-crossed:
Hi there,
I'd suggest asking here for further help: [HELP THREAD] nexus4 Ask any question.
There is an unofficial port here that you can upgrade to: [L][5.0] LPV and LPV with N6 parts N4 [B17 10-30-2014]
Although this isn't an Official release for the Nexus 4, if you want an Official release you should wait and someone will create a rooted update so you can update without having to OTA

What is the latest but stable custom rom for Note II LTE?

Hi guys,
Sorry if I put this thread not on the right sub forum, since I dont know where to put it.
Anyway, I am looking for the latest but stable custom rom for my Note II.
Would be even better if it is easy to install or have youtube / step by step tutorial since I have never done this.
All I want is for my Note II to work well, so I can use it for my backup phone.
My Note II is still 4.4.2, rooted
Thanks
