red exclamation mark on battery icon - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've got a very big problem.
After not having used the tf101 during some months, I decided to upgrade it to ICS. But when I pluged it on, I had an red exclamation mark on the battery icon and the sign 0%. When I try to charge the tablet and the dock, it stays the same. And when I put off the charger on the tablet, it shuts down on the spot. Do you know what happened? Is my battery dead? Is it a soft problem which could be resolved by flashing to another rom? I'm lost. Thx for your help

Try charging it for 10 minutes, then disconnect it for 1 minute, and then plug it again for another 10.
Continue this cycle until hopefully it starts charging again. It is as if the tablet locks itself from charging when it reaches such critical levels of battery.

It sounds like your battery is totally empty. Lithium ion batteries don't like being discharged fully. You may have to trickle charge it via USB for a few hours before it starts holding a charge. Once it holds a charge, you can charge it normally.

Bump Charging has helped!

ok, so I'm running faux's rom and I have run CM 7. I have tested this a few times and each rom and it seems to help improve battery life.
Since the drivers are screwy I noticed when I charged my phone it would say 100% but I would unplug it and it would drop down to 97% right away. I think the lower number is the accurate one, So the battery really isnt getting fully charged because the phone thinks it is so of course it will die sooner
So what I did was let it charge to 100% then unplugged it, it went down right away. I plugged it back in and it started charging again, in a few minutes it showed 100%, I unplugged and it showed 97%, so I kept repeating this then eventually I unplugged and it was 98%, then eventually 99%. After doing this my battery lasted a lot longer. I usually have keep an extra battery on me and usually have to switch but for the first time my g2x lasted the whole day! So give this a shot.. it could help if you suffer from really bad battery life.
Off topic.
Im From Southern California...be visiting New York on Monday. Good stuff...small world some times.
could unplug, then turn off, plug in and charge while off for a while, the unplug and turn on, then plug back in and let charge. then wipe batt stats and unplug. works for me.
I have one extra battery. I never charged my phone through the charger it came with. I always charge my battery with the portable charger. No doubt the portable charger takes 6-8 hours to fully charge my battery, but on the upside my battery lasts for more than a day.

I noticed a similar thing recently. I generally charge my phone overnight while I'm sleeping and use it for an alarm clock. One morning I decided to reboot my phone (my experience is that it needs a reboot every couple of days or various things stop working) before I got up, so I powered it down, still plugged into the charger. I then tried to power it on, but instead of the boot screen I got the device-off charging animation, indicating that it wasn't fully charged, even though it had said 100% before I powered it off. After letting it sit and charge while off for another hour or so, I booted it, and I think I got exceptionally long battery life that day (although my days are all so different it's hard to compare one to another).
I think bump charging does help, but its not good for your battery in the long run

[Q] 4 orange lights

My phone won't boot I left it off and charging
Now if I try to boot it nothing happens
If I plug in the charger there's 3 slow blinking light them a fourth one which is about twice as long then it repeats once then stops
Is it bricked or something please help
no not bricked. did you let your phone die before charging it?
take the battery out for about 10 minutes or longer, then put it back, plug the charger, just let it. then turn it on after few minutes. happens to me all the time.
Uhh my battery just broke its producing 2.4 volts instead of the needed 3.7 volts my phone is fine I tried my brothers battery from a G2 turns if you can get the contacts to line up a sensation will work fine on a G2 battery it doesn't fit but oh well
Had this problem. I just left it. Will stop eventually.
Have you tried leaving it on charge with the orange light blinking for a while? It may just be completely drained, and after a while stop blinking whist charging.
If I drain my battery completely (when conditioning battery), when I first plug the charger in the orange light flashes for a minute or so before staying on constant. It only does this if I completely drain the battery, so maybe try leaving it charging for a few hours and see if it charges up?
cheers

Sensation LED blinking but phone not turning on

My phone turned on with my friends battery but when I insert my battery the phone only blinks a red led and won't turn on. It happened shortly after installing bricked kernel and 4ext recovery

Hi,
That would suggest that your battery is flat.
Why don't you plug the charger in for half an hour ,then try booting again.
Yeah like above said your battery is dead, as soon as the light stays solid it means you can start your phone. Depending on how badly its drained itll take like 15 mins while being plugged into AC. This usually happens to me while playing a game and i dont notice the low battery lol
exactly the same thing happened to me just now...
Strange thing thou was that the phone was connected to the charger all night long and I just removed it from the charger
Charging right now... lets wait a bit
-update
Charger seems to have died in action.....
what was your outcome adiallo77 ?
-update 2
Charger started to work fine again ...
I'm confused now
I had the same problems when I first install cwrecovery, after a night in the charger it was working fine again
I just started having this problem with my phone. The battery is not charging at all, my phone won't turn on, but the red light is blinking. I have been reading and trying all day everything I could find in xda, but still no results. I can't remember which ROM I installed last, but it has stock kernel, ICS probably virtuous.
This usually happens when your battery has drained completely.
Here's what you need to do. Put your phone on an hour long charge before trying anything.
Don't put the phone for charge on the PC or in the car, but use the standard wall charger that was provided with the phone. Whatever happens, don't pull the phone off charging.
After an hour of charging is completed, switch on your phone as you normally would, without unplugging the charger. Your phone should be fine.
Let it charge to 100%, calibrate your battery and perform a restart to maintain the right graduation for battery levels.

Have you tried a different battery?
Have you checked if the battery fits tightly?
EDIT: Too many of these recently. We need to find the source!

i don't have an extra battery but the one i have does fit. I'm gonna see if i can find me another battery borrowed.
Does the orange light continue to blink after a few minutes? I had this problem a while ago but the light would blink for about a minute and then stop, then the battery wouldn't charge and my phone wouldn't turn on.
What I ended up doing was putting my battery into my Desire HD and charging it for 15 min (aligning the pins and just holding the battery down since its too big to fit in the HD and letting it charge) and then I put it back into my sensation and it would pick up charge.
I would suggest getting an external charger and letting the charger bring your battery up to 5-10 percent then putting it back into the sensation and try to charge it/see if your phone will turn on.
The same thing has just happend to my gf's sensation XE, she left it on all night charging, now it wont turn on, tried everything. Its all stock since day one. might have to send it back, her last HTC phone broke too (wildfire), Any tricks to try and get it to turn on?
The lights come on at the bottom keys, but no display ?

G2X won't start!

I had my phone for 3 months. It did this issue before and I removed the battery, it started. Now, it doesn't start with or without the battery. I plug it and press the power for 10 seconds, nothing happens.
I had the phone running for like 3 days till the battery completely drained.
I plugged the phone and I feel it's warm on the camera area and still doesn't start after charging for a while. Total black screen!
I am on CM7 and CWM recovery installed. Any ideas?

Since the battery drained completely it may take an hour or better on charge to get enough juice to restart.
The phone can't start without the battery? with just the charger power?

Ya it just needs to get some serious juice on it before it starts weird issue but mine does the same thing. Plug it in to charge with battery and leave it for about 10+ minutes and it should start up with the plug in.

It's been plugged in for a long time.. Nothing yet...
and when it's charging, it usually displays a battery charge animation...
but the screen is totally black
I've never attempted to turn it on without the battery, but with mine, when the battery has completely died, I can plug it in and turn it on within 15-30 seconds and use it (as long as it's still plugged in). USB charge, I have to wait a little longer, though.
The battery was ok I had no problems with it and I checked the battery status yesterday it was "4 from 100 points" and "Good" health.
The phone did that with me before but it started charging when I detached the battery and inserted it again. I think it was some sort of hanging up and the battery had to be detached even if the phone was off!
It workedddd! finally!
As I said... I had to detach the battery and the power completely and reinsert the battery... This is really weird :S
Maybe it was flooded.

Sounds like a bad battery. Taking li-ion down to fully discharged damages them. The batteries have protection circuitry but if you take it down to nothing and don't charge it right away you could have done permanent damage. If a li-ion is damaged in this way it will never take a charge again. Get a new battery and see if that fixes your problems.

XOOM 4G Not Taking a Charge

More often than not now, my Xoom will not fully charge. It will usually get to 61% and stop there. If the unit is off, the charging LED will start blinking. If the unit is on, the Battery Left widget will start flashing between charging and not charging.
I have gone into recovery and wiped the battery stats and that seems to help for a few days and then it starts doing it again. This unit was bought on day one of the release and sees pretty heavy use. I replaced the charger and that had no effect so I am suspecting it is time for a new battery. Any thoughts?
