Root bootloader rom - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just bought my tf300 today. I searched a little but i am confused. My firmware is 9.4.3.30 i am still 0n ICS. What is the best guide to gaining root unlocking the bootloader and a rom. Would rather stay away from abd only because my computer is not set up with it. Do i upgrade to stock jelly bean then use the asus unlock apk? What is the most up to date guide?
Thank you.

You can unlock with the Asus Unlock app on ICS. There is currently no root for locked bootloaders on JB. ICS can still be rooted with the bootloader locked.

Thank you. What do you recommend doing. Staying on ics and keeping the bootloader lock? Or unlocked and jelly bean? Was kinda thinking about running black bean. What are your thoughts or experience?

Black Bean runs on ICS so no need to upgrade to JB for it....

So far as I know (and I don't have my tablet yet):

Stay on ICS, from JB is difficult to move, currently.

[Q] One Click Root?

Is there an easy way to root the TF300 without using the downgrade method? I've been spoiled with all of the easy One Click root methods on my SGS and would love to find out if there is a similar method for the TF300.
If you are on .17 its simple, if you have OTA updated to .26 or .29 then no not at the moment.
Can unlock bootloader but that will void your warranty.
You can unlock your device and flash root, if you know how to install CWM.

A way (but if you dont have .17 a downgrade must be done) is this:

I've downgraded 3-4 times using wolf's second downgrade method.
It's actually pretty risky, but it worked flawlessly nonetheless.

has anyone rooted jellybean or downgraded to ics

Has any one been able to root Jellybean yet, or downgrade back to Ice Cream Sandwich for the transformer prime tf300. Ive tried the firmware update to the .17 for ics and its still locked to Jellybean. The only other thing i could think of is to use the kernals, but i found no way to install them. Should i even try unlocking the bootloader?
So far, it looks hopeless to try and downgrade to ICS. The source code has been released so we may have root in the not-to-distant future once the developers have a look at it.

If you can downgrade to ICS you could potentially get root back using the debugfs method. Then you can upgrade again and rescue your root with voodoo ota root keeper, but I had to wipe data after the jb upgrade, and that broke root for good, for now.

Yes, you can root JB.
I just bought my Tab, upgraded to JB right away then performed below steps:
1) Used the ASUS unlocker to unlock the device, make sure you have internet connection otherwise it will not work.
2) Follow 3rd part in below thread to root JB:

For locked u can only root ics and keep it using voodoo rootkeeper and than update. Thats how i did it.
Im not sure but u could downgrade using this method. It flash whole system again and clear all ~30gb of memory so it should work.

Already on JB or always on ICS ?
Already rooted ?
If you are on ICS, you can use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper for backup your root and Su.
When you update your TF300 on JB by OTA, restore your root with Voodoo.
That's what I've done.
Look this screenshots:

No, you can't downgrade at this time.
I had rooted my tf300t after US OTA upgrade forced...
I desinstall SuperUser and install SuperSU:
SuperSU on Android Market / Google Play (free)
SuperSU *Pro* on Android Market / Google Play (Pro/donate addon, requires free version)
Then I install TWRP for JB like you can see in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843694
And then I flash SuperSU.zip, and with SuperSu app intelled on device all goes well...
And if not, after do it, you can go to Setting of SuperSU and make in clean Reinstall or Change Super User APP, and :fingers-crossed: reboot the tablet...
That sounds like you had an unlocked bootloader. OP wants to root with locked.

Rooting on jb with locked bootloader is not possible at this time, unless you had root on a previous version before upgrading.

You said above that it was possible to unlock stock JB on brand new Asus by using the Asus downloadable but it clearly says this will only work for ICS on their site. Can stock JB be unlocked? My infuse was so much easier to do.

If you are on ICS, you can root without unlocking using the debugfs method
of. If you are on jb and want to root you must unlock the bootloader first, then follow step 3 of the rooting guide posted in the general section.
