I do game a lot on my tablet, so I use a lot of space... Normally I would gone for the 32GB gray model, but I really like the look of the white model, which is only 16GB.
I do have a 64GB microSD card, so is there a way to move game data files there instead of the internal memory?
I'm not rooted, btw.
That will depend on the app.
Yes check the developer section

[TOOL] DirectoryBind - move data to external_sd (GameLoft, Shadowgun etc.) ROOT req

@hairdewx so u tried it? is it work?
It works, but because of how the symbolic links work the free space calculations seem to be off on the main storage settings screen.
Confus-ed in another thread enlightened me in another thread, thanks goes to him. In the apps, go to my files and you can click, hold, and drag apps onto your external sd card. I wasnt able to move everything, although i didn't try that hard, but was able to move some wicked easy. I'm not rooted. Thanks again to confus-ed.

My note is only the 16gb version and im running out of space . How can i transfer my apps to the sd card, if i go to settings apps , there is no option to trasfer to the sd card ?
Lol suppose to be running out internal storage and not disc space.
Root and use titanium backup, I believe that will work.
Or get rid of apps you really don't need...

Return it and get a 32 gb version. Dont be cheap.
Also transfer all your non app data files to your sdcard. Music, movies, backups, photos all can live on sdcard.

Use the apps:
App 2 SD
GL to SD
The first one moves apps that can be stored on your sd to be moved. The second one takes the massive downloads needed by the gigantic games and puts those downloads on your external sd instead of using up your system memory. Those apps saved me several gigs of space!

What's the point of deciding on the 16GB then complaining about running out of space?

I do find it a mystery why just for a short term fix owners are purchasing the 16GB model when shortly after the same will then be complaining of not enough space.
Percentage wise apps are getting bigger quicker than the hardware is increasing.
It's the sole reason why I never went for the Nexus 7.

That doesn't work with ICS...
If you go into apps then open my files i have found that you can point/hold and drag from internal sd to extsd.
I am also looking for a way to change the designation of installed apps and where items are automatically saved to.
I havent attempted to root yet.
Hope this helps

Could you be a little more specific? When you say go into apps what do you mean? Also how do you open my files?

Because the 32gb version isn't available here in Oz yet... If they released the 32gb version with the 16gb version they would have no or minimal sale of the 16gb version. REALLY bites...:crying:

Located at the top right of the screen is an icon that resembles a rubix cube, touch that and it will take you to the applications part of the Note. Different than the home screens.
Located in the apps pages is a folder labled my files, touch that and it will open in a file tree manner. At this point you can touch and drag into the extsd folder.
You can also connet to your puter and launch kies and check the box to make the extsd card the default save.

Thanks! I was doing that with pictures and music, never occurred to try apps, i thought ics didn't allow it. There were some apps i couldn't move but did move some, seems too easy but it worked
Using Kies to copy data files (not the apps) to the Note will also make them smaller and save space. I remember copying some using the windows browser and they were converted (made smaller) IF you copy first to the Note then move them to the Extsd. There may be even more ways to save space with transferring. Photos for example that don't need to be 2-5 mb each could be shrunk with a photo editor on your desktop, then transferred to the Note.

No problem, if you discover anything that allows you to use the extsd as more of a partition rather than storage only keep us posted.:good:
Edit: I read in the note forums that someone had written a kernel to swap the priority of the storage, making the extsd64gb act as the internal storage and vice versa. I dont have the link for it
When I had a P1000, I used a lot the feature of sending applications and games and its data files to my SD CARD with a single purpose: leave the internal 16Gb memory as free as possible for better perfomance.
Now I have a rooted P6200 and I only can use my SD CARD for storing music and videos because I have no option of MOVE TO SD CARD anymore.
I also tried some applications that MOVE TO SD CARD, but none of them work.
I called the SAMSUNG SUPPORT and they told me I should be able to move to SD, but I read somewhere that it's something about the way that Android 3 and 4 manage partitions... what makes me believe I will not be able.
So, I am confused.
Can I move applications to SD CARD or not?
Can I make a application store data on SD CARD? Example: MailDroid or a game that consumes a lot of the memory - I would prefer to store data on the SD card.
Does anybody have a hint for that?
Thank you!

There are some apps in the Google Play Market like app 2 sd or move to sd (something like that), you can try one of those.
Personally I have no experience on these apps since I still have plenty of space, but you can read a little the features and see if that works for you
Unfortunately, APP2SD does not work to me

Thank you for your suggestion, but when APP2SD starts, I receive this message:
Your device has no real primary external storage or primary storage is emulated
APP2SD will not support move 2 card.
I dont understand this message. I have the 16Gb internal memory plus a 32Gb SD card as s imple a s it can b e, but it is not moving to S D.
P lease someone help me how to solve it.
By the way, the 32Gb SD is fully recognized by the P6200. I can see all my files regularly.
Link2sd may work, but I don't think there would be any performance gain from moving the apps over.

From my point of view, rooting is something relatively easy, both to get and to lose: you just flash a zip from the default recovery. It does not even takes your flash count up. Basically, it's a single file that needs to be placed in "/system/bin/". If you need to send it to support, mount "system" as R/W and delete "su".
I could be wrong though, but you should really look into it. I think it is worth it.
By the way, I think you would have to partition your SD Card to use it with Link2SD...

Like the title says I'm attempting to install games and additional game data to the external SD card(32 gig) as my devices storage is pretty low.
Can this be done?

Depends on the application. If developer gave such possibility, then you can (if it doesn't install automatically on SD, then you will be able to move it). You should look in settings/applications - look for application, which you want to move and you will see such option, if it was implemented.
apps making it
If I move the app it only seems to move the 5mb part and not all the additional data.
And for some reason I can't move anything to my external, it moves stuff into the tablets 'sd card' which is tiny,
Just open the game and it does it automatically
you can ask someone else to download it and then copy game contents from SD to yours SD

Wish my tablet was smart enough to copy data to the external once it runs out of space..

Hi all,
I am running out of storage on my note and was wondering if there was a way of saving my games obb files to the memory card and still being able to play the games?. I know I could do the switch hack to swap the memory over but don't fancy doing that.
any ideas?
Hmm ,
Make a Folder Directory in External SD Card, Similar to the Internal SD Card.
And Try this,
It worked for me some time ago,
You can have a try too...
P.S : Make a Backup before you took any step....
Because once you lost your obb , game is lost ... as well this may affect your Game Progress

Better use FolderMount instead of DirectoryBind, easier to use and is still supported, so it also works with Android 4.2.2.

I tried to use FolderMount and it moved the obb files ok but then when I went to play the games (Modern Combat 4 and GTA Vice City) they no longer work. With MC4 it's starts to load like normal then just jumps back to my homescreen, with GTA it says each time additional files successfully downloaded but then freezes the Note.
Any ideas??
Well I give up!.
I have tried to use both programs to get my games saved to ext SD but I must be doing something wrong cuz I can't get either to work right.
Why o why did Samsung feel the need to stop you saving games to external SD???.
I only swapped from my Tab 8.9 cuz I was always filling the 16GB memory, I thought buying a tablet that could take an SD card would solve my problems.
Oh well never mind, thanks for all the suggestions....

of course you can, I've often done that for a few games which has quite large obb or data, gameloft, glu, or ea games, when I want to play the game, just return the obb or the data back to the original folder, then the games ready to be played back with no loss game progress, and the good again, the device does not need diroot
So I got my s7 over the weekend and had a 64gb sd card ready to go. I tossed it in and downloaded a whole bunch of games, hoping to have my games/music/movies on the sd card and all other apps on internal storage. After downloading the games, I went and moved them to sd card through app info, etc. However, while it says the games are completely on external storage when looking at the app through app info, actually looking at the storage shows that the game is still on internal and little to nothing was transferred to the sd card. When apps are moved to sd card, is only a very small portion moved? Or should the whole app be moved in its entirety to external? I must have download 6+ gigs of various games and moved them all to external, but only ended up using around 400mb of external storage and still the 6gb on internal. Is this an issue with android, s7, or working as intended?
