Stock SMS App for Sense? - HTC One S

I was wondering if it is possible to get stock ICS/JB sms app to work in sense? I like the cleaner look of the AOSP sms.

So I can just push any mms.apk?

You can simply install this from the play store (you have to disable notification of sense messaging app)

Please elaborate?
Hero's messaging app has a flaw that leaves cpu on 100% of the time (does not sleep correctly)

That's a good call but I think they might be the same application. Trying out the Magic's Sense messaging app might work too but I believe the issue is Sense not the phone specific app. I might be wrong. When I get a chance I will replace the apps and see if there is any difference (obviously this will take a few days of testing to really find out). You can just pull the app from the Eris dump btw and push it yourself too.

[REQ] MIUI or VIBRANT mms.apk on CM6/Sense?

Is there a way to get the mms.apk from the MIUI rom working on cm6 or sense?
I dont like the stock messaging app on either aosp/sense and i hate that handcent has ads/ad bar.
While im asking, what about the vibrant mms.apk as well.
If impossible, delete this thread.

i have and they wont install. i tried using the auto-sign tool as well, which let me install, but FC'd every time.
It needs to be ported to the specific phone you're using unless you mod it to work off the original sense SMS app, similarly to how handcent SMS works.

[APP] (5/27/2012) Stock ICS AOSP Messaging (MMS >600K), Keyboard, and more

WARNING: All of the APKs in this post are entirely experimental and are not recommended as daily drivers. I will be updating the APKs as best I can but I am not the original author; it will be some time before we find fully working AOSP APKs to replace system apps. Your mileage may vary, use at your own discretion.
OP: What's up everyone? Lately, most of the HTC apps have been getting on my nerves; notably, the Messaging app with its 600k MMS limit and with a few other problems that just grind my gears, like font resizing.
Messaging:
I have found the SMS/MMS APK that works perfect with the One X. It's able to send and receive MMS, and has no noticeable apparent crashes (forwarding crash fixed).
http://goo.gl/qbSJ5
(5/26/2012) I have edited the MMS.apk file to stop it from compressing large images to oblivion. All images will now send at full quality.
It is recommended you make MMS.apk a system app by moving it to /system/app. (5/27/2012) There are reports of the MMS.apk not properly sticking as a system application. I RUU'd back to 1.85, and flashed a rooted 1.85 partition. From here, I deleted the original Message+CRC_1.apk, installed this APK normally, then converted it to a system application. I have had few crashes, I will look into them.
Keyboard:
I also have an ICS keyboard (LatinIME.apk) file that works as a great ICS keyboard. without all of the Play Store non-sense. If you guys need or have dictionaries, let me know and I'll update this post.
http://goo.gl/Z8Htd
Gallery:
http://goo.gl/2ZsI9
(5/27/2012) It has been reported that the Gallery settings do not work. I will look for a better Gallery.apk that functions better with the One X.
Calendar: (5/27/2012)
Here is the AOSP Calendar. It seems to be working fine for me except it shows my Google account twice. Please reply to this thread if you can recreate this bug.
http://goo.gl/LtZAh
I uninstalled the Sense Gallery and the Sense Messaging apps and have noticed no significant flaws. As stated in the beginning of this post, your mileage may vary. If you encounter bugs or problems, reply to this thread. Thank you all for testing these APKs, feel free to PM me with ideas or information on these apps.
How would I go about uninstalling the stock messaging app? When I try to install the MMS Apk it says "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed."
EDIT: Nevermind, used Titanium Backup and put the apk in /system/app
Backup with TiBu and move mms.apk to system/app then set permissions.
Had a few fcs and a weird one where mms would show up as unknown number which to my knowledge is impossible lol
Kinda cool actually... After a reboot all is well

I fixed the low quality MMS issue where your pictures would become grainy when sending. Should I upload the MMS.APK? Only downside: some phones may not support really high quality images.

Well this is a weird one, message sends fine when sent from the existing thread. If sent from the gallery or any other app it creates a new message without switching to mms mode... Now if you stay in this new message and attach the picture again you get this ..
Its like it sends the picture, gets lost and then a blank SMS comes from an unknown number. Btw when you send pictures from existing thread it compressed 1.4mb to 68kb... Somehow tibu deleted my original HTC SMS app so I'll stick with this for now

The correct APK is uploaded now. Sorry! You should have no problem installing the APK from anywhere now. It is recommended you move the APK to /system/app, but you can do this simply with Titanium Backup.
I still can't get it to work!!! I downloaded the apk, moved the stock messages apk into the downloads folder to back it up, then moved the modded file into the system/app folder. All of this in es file explorer with the system mounted option checked. I tried both clicking the apk to install it and just restarting my phone. Install fails and app isn't in launcher after reboot. What am I doing wrong?

Changing Background Stock SMS in Jelly Bean

Is there anyway to change the background color (white) of the stock SMS program in jelly bean? Coming from the high contrast black background from ICS's SMS program to a white background is a tough pill to swallow. And I really don't want to use an alternative SMS program if I can avoid it.
TIA

anyone?
hard time believing i'm the only one that finds this annoying!
Naw I'm with ya drives me nuts too. I still haven't found a solution though. Also bothers me that I have to use a 5 dollar launcher for unread count. You could try various skins on Apex/Nova launchers, though I havent found the right one yet
Decompile using a Appmanager and look for the background image to replace

[TUTORIAL]How to Theme Your MMS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781297
I'm on Samsung Galaxy Note II, Jelly Bean 4.1.1 stock, I believe I've made changes but not sure how to get back to them. When I first go into the stock message app and see the list of message that I have, the background is black. I believe this used to be white. How can I get this back to white? I did have GO SMS installed but have uninstalled it an am back to stock messaging app. I know this is how to change it to black, but hoping I could get help for vice versa.
Interested also
I'm also quite interested about this issue. I have two DROID DNA phones. One let's me use my gallery and the other won't. Really strange.
You might wanna try this. I just combined some that are made by others so thanks to them. I'm really sorry I forgot their names.
it has white text on black background
Just flash the zip file:
Ill also attach the Mms.apk if you need it but its included on the zip file but i just want to upload it separately so yeah. <-- Noob here
And the screenshot is also there.

Does this replace the existing stock SMS app? Exist in addition to the stock app? Just theme the existing app? And would it be undone by any updates to gapps? Thanks.

Yes it would replace the stock sms app. Just check the gapps if it includes the mms.apk file. Usually it doesnt, maybe. If mms.apk is included in gapps then it would overwrite this but if not then this themed sms app would stay.

Changing MMS messaging size limits

How would one go about changing these setting within the stock messaging app? I know the ViperOne rom is running a modified version that allows mms messages up to 1200K. On the stock one the max limit is 300K. I'm running ViperOne but swapped out the modified message app for the stock one because it had the voicemail feature in it.
TIA
I have it fixed for mine hehe I swapped the Messages.apk to ours so group messaging would work
