App/Widget to show current data traffic? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Is there any app that any of you guys know of that would display the current amount of download/upload that's going in/out of my phone whether it be Data or WIFI? I know speedtest can accomplish this, but the MIUI had it built into the ROM to show the current download speeds on the status bar.
I reverted back to CM10 and I miss that little tool badly.

I think he's looking for current network activity, not total data usage.

Might look at Network Speed in the market. Don't know if you want app specifics, though.

That's kinda what I'm looking for. I assume it would be a mod for what I was looking for. Basically a mod that would show: 0.00 KB/s in the status bar, but I don't believe there may be one.

Interesting idea here for a concept app. It might make more sense to have a basic display in the status bar and more info in the notification tray. This could really be useful for developers monitoring how much data an app uses over time to optimize their app's usage.

Try Network Monitor Mini.

UpDownMeter?

Well, are there any apps that would have a widget? I do like the app(s) you guys have suggested, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for.

Ooh, I like it but of course it's $3.50 for the widgets. Heh. Just wasn't sure if someone had already created a mod similar to what MIUI uses

Try this one: Data Usage Defender
Although I don't think there's notification in the status bar.

But you said you wanted it in the status bar, which the free version does? I haven't seen MIUI so I can't comment on that.
Having said that, I think it prevents deep sleep, so if you like your battery, I wouldn't use it. Still need to verify that though.

[Q] Inspire 4G Android App that keeps track of cellular vs wifi data usage?

I'm curious if there's an app that'll track\report data usage, and break it down between wifi and gprs\cellular data. I'm using my Inspire 4G on a network that doesn't provide me usage reporting, so I'm curious if "there's an app for that" hehe
Thanks!
PS - I'm rooted so if it's a root-needing app that's fine too.
This works great for me

Not an app, but if you want to know where your at for your data usage dial, *3282# and you will be sent a message with how much you have used.

If I was on ATT I would do that or just login to my online account... I have an unmetered data provider, who doesn't report back usage, so I just want a way to know for my own curiosity.
Thanks
Data counter widget by Roy Solberg is pretty cool.
keeps up with daily, weekly, and monthly data usage for wifi vs cellular.

3g watchdog works great too
I've been using DroidStats for a couple days now. Seems to work well but I may try some others to compare.
I have the APk from my old Samsung galaxy tab. Its a widget that shows your live data usage. I'm not sure about the legality of posting the apk here if anyone wants it shoot me a pm. Seems to work well on any system I've tried it on.

The free "Traffic Monitor" widget from the market isn't bad. It shows wi-fi vs OTA traffic with upstream, downstream, and total data used. It also breaks the data down by individual apps and does have a built-in speedtest.

There is a monitor application that comes on the MIUI rom that does this. You could probably pull the apk from the rom if you don't want to use MIUI. Or it could be a market app for all I know.

[Solved-Maybe]Intermittent awake issues? First time.

I've never seen the 'awake' bar look like this. Can anyone explain, is it the wifi? There is nothing out of the ordinary under running services and most of the info on the battery use screen was from this morning, while I was asleep.
Edit: pretty certain it was google backup transport. The 'back up my data' option was selected from a restore I had done. And I was on wifi during the suspicious activity. Made the necessary adjustments, testing now but so far it looks good.

i always disable backup transport when i install the new rom, you should try too. backup transport bounded with android system so you can't watch excatly itself alone because of this.

It's gone. Even went as far as deleting it. However, this morning I think I determined that its the wifi that was giving me the strange 'awake' bar.

rom that can switch 2g/3g automatically?

Hello. I'm looking for a custom rom which could manage to switch back and forth between 2g and 3g either manually or preferably, automatically. I had a milestone with cyanogenmod before my skyrocket and I loved the feature it had where you could set the phone to connect using 2g exclusively while the screen was off and switch to 3g when you unlocked the screen.
thanks!

thanks for such a quick response. I tried juicedefender once and it had a few issues when switching switching connectivity back on. sometimes it went for hours without any notification for emails and such after setting it to check for emails after certain amount of time. also, I can't really buy the paid version. does the free version has this functionality? I don't want to switch off the data connection entirely, which is what I remember juice defender doing. I just want to switch to 2G.

The Juicedefender functionality is beta, and as far as I know, actually incompatible with our phones, though correct me if I'm wrong.

in need of AT&T data traffic icons

Can anyone get me the AT&T data traffic icons? I miss them and I am on CM10, I origanally had those dumb "H" icons, then I went to the verizon data icons, but I like the AT&T ones better. I found the 4G LTE ones on google, but I need all of them 3G, 2G, etc.

Found some better ones, I'm still playing with them a bit and sorting the names out, i pulled them from an ics rom and some of the names are different. I'm trying to figure out what cm10 used to call each specific data line so i can match them up properly. Here's what the icons i found look like.

S5 toggles on S3 using build.prop

Hey guys. Recently updated my US verizon s3 to kitkat ((NE1). Just rooted it successfully using towelroot. I found a site that showed how to modify two lines of the build.prop to get the S5 toggles on my S3. Changed to (ro.product.name=SM-N900S) and (ro.product.device=SM-N900S) and it did work. I attached a pic. I did notice that my 4G icon doesn't say LTE anymore. My question is, I know the S5 name is kltevzw and I'm wondering if I replace the sm-n900s with that if I'd get the same icon and toggles. I'm hesitant because I'm not sure if I'll get stuck on boot or something.
Has anyone tried this?
btw, modifying the build.prop is dangerous. It worked on my phone, but that doesn't mean it works on yours. If your phone gets messed up, its not my fault.
Thanks.
It works on my GSIII but I like the bigger toggles better. It's an age and eye thing .... lol

I wonder why that works. I don't know much about programming or build.prop mods, but does that mean that the code is built into the system? It just seems silly that two lines displaying product number changes the phone so much haha

Samsung often leaves dormant code in their software. They have often left some Note II dormant hooks of different kinds through some updates on our S3.

That's because the S5 has the ability to connect to WiFi and 4G at the same time utilizing both at a faster speed. In most cases the carriers disabled that feature
