Can't run anything...

I have WM6 running on a HTC Trinity (the Orange SPV M700 variant) has been wonderful for over a month now, last night I reset it cause I hadn't in ages and it was getting all bunged up and slow, when it came back everything just stopped working.
Touchflo, HTCHome, all the stuff i had running on startup instantly blasted errors at me, and all the applications i have installed wont run, including .cab installers..
The error is:
"The File [File name] cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file."
I'm not one of these idiots who just panicks and complains about a problem, i've searched google a lot, found that its probably the 'security configuration' and found a program that should be able to change it, only, it can't connect to it properly through activesync, i assume because of the same thing. I would just wipe it clean, even re-flash the ROM if i had too, but I want to back everything up first with something like PPCPimBackup which has worked wonders in the past, only, I can't run the executable...
If it really comes down to it i will just manually backup my contacts list and suffer the other losses, but i'm sure there is some genious on these forums who has a magic sollution..

Always keep in mind, it's called a Pocket PC, because it's just like a PC. So from here on out, be sure to reset daily, it's quick and can help over a long run. As far as it not running now (don't know if you have fixed it yet) but try another reset, sometimes when there are too many startup apps, it can cause some chaos and certain apps won't run. Or try uninstalling the apps not working and reinstalling after a reset, after the uninstall.
Also, always a great idea to backup.

I would like to think i'm pretty good with computers, if this happened on my laptop or desktop I'd be able to find the registry values or find a program to change them for me to stop it blocking the apps from running.
Trouble is, I can't run the PPC version of RegEdit because it is blocking EVERY .exe, If it wasn't PPC i'd boot it up in safe mode, using all the default values, but there isn't on in WM6 by default (to my knowledge anyway)
I've reset many times and nothing changes, turned it off, even taken the battery out just in case it made a difference.
I think i'm going to have to do a hard reset and suffer the losses..

Sometimes a hard reset is the only solution.
Saw this in a signautre from NiteStalker, both hilarious and true, "If knowledge is counted in Hard Resets, I must be a genious!"

[Q] Windows Phone Unlock Chevron Unique Problem

I have been able to unlock my phone before, but now no matter what I do, I just can't seem to get past the ChevronWP7.exe error of not being able to communicate with the phone after I click unlock.
I think I know why. I had been trying to get my device (Samsung Focus) to be able to be seen as a USB storage device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915664) . I had messed with the registry keys until I got the desired effect.
Well a couple of days later my phone's screen would turn off as soon as a call was started and would be inaccessible until the call ended, and also the camera wouldn't start under lock. These problems were unrelated, and frustrated me enough to hard reset my phone. I had jailboken it once before, so I figured, how hard could it be to do it again.
I've followed all of the steps TO THE LETTER (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938106, and also here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857127), to no avail.

Please help me understand where the heck I went wrong! Am I missing anything, are there any wrong values? I'm aiming for just being able to unlock at this point. This is driving me insane!

I've checked any and all possible reasons for not being able to unlock, from using TCPView to kill https processes, to editing the hosts file from having the loopback to windows developer server. I have no other ideas other that this registry is messed up. If anyone (so long as they havent messed with the USB storage thing) could just export that whole registry folder:

Solution
It did end up being my registry settings. Went to another computer, installed the Developer Tools, ran ChevronWP7, and voila. Still dont know my problem though, and with the new NoDo update I know I'll have to reset again eventually, so if anyone can shed any light that would be great.

I'd say, uninstall the samsung drivers, remove what's left of these registry keys, install the drivers again and connect your device to recreate the registry keys.

I've already uninstalled the Samsung drivers, and I'll try deleting those registry keys. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the Windows Phone Deeloper Tools, didn't do very much. Can access just fine through Zune, but any xap deployer (including Microsoft's) and the ChevronWP7 can't.

I deleted the registry key (or rather what I could, some of them were system protected and wouldn't budge when I edited permissions), then uninstalled zune and reinstalled it. I plugged my phone in and everything synced just fine. Tried Chevron, it started and detected my phone was jailbroken. I was also able to deploy xaps. Thanks for the suggestion, saved me from a lot of frustration.

I have the same problem as above; Unlocked my Focus, it got re-locked somehow and now I can't re-unlock it, after trying everything. Should I do what OP ended up doing? If so, how do I do that?

I've had a somewhat related issue where something in my PC's registry or user profile was screwing Zune up. I'd get a generic "Please disconnect, restart your phone, and pray" response that never worked. The fix? Recreate my user profile in Windows which has a net effect of giving you all new HKEY_CURRENT_USER stuff. This may be necessary for others in the future, specifically when one computer works differently than another.

I had the EXACT same problem with my Focus after unlocking it. I also had been playing with the Diagnosis app, so i figured it was that. I've never touched the registry of my phone...

[Q] Application Deployment not working after interopunlock

Having a crazy day. Got the new ChevronWP7 unlock last night. Did the internet sharing interop combo. Now get error trying to reload xap files. Trying to put on accentchanger file.
Error - failed to connect to the device. Ensure that the device is connected..

The xap app is not supported
You have to deploy supported xap only
Ex:
Screen cupturer
Nokia maps
Battery status
Tango, but it is now in marketplace
Some other apps like Native keyboard are not working.

@verynuclear: Not sure what you think you're trying to say, but it's totally possible to use high-privilege apps like Advanced Config (which does custom accent colors, among other things). You just need Interop Unlock, which is easy on LG, possible (via an app) on Samsung, and difficult but not impossible on HTC (I have it on my HD7).
The problem is that after using the Interop-unlock app on his or her Samsung phone, the OP seems to be having trouble with the XAP deployment tools. @jgibo, I suggest you read and then post in the relevant threads for those apps, rather than starting a new thread.

The main reason for asking question is if the deployment tool stopped working for anyone else. After I got Chevron on there I was able to install screen capture, accent changer. Screen capture worked. So I removed accent changer and followed instructions for interop unlock install. Then saw the thread for internet sharing and interop in one. Installed that to phone. Got internet sharing Then tried a few different xap files and couldn't install any. So did that xap mess something up? Guess I will look elsewhere for answers.

This can be caused by several reasons, including if the device is off. If the device is already connected, sometimes disconnecting and then reconnecting the device may fix the problem. Rebooting the device may also fix this problem

You do have internet sharing OFF right? You can not deploy XAP's with ICS on. I don't mean to be rude but it really does pay to read the whole post when someone gives instructions on how to do something before saying it messed up your whatever.

2.) Use the Application Deployment tool to send THIS to your phone. You do not need to run it and you can delete it after it has been deployed.

4.) After the Diagnosis app starts type *#9908# and select 'System Tweaks' press 'Save' then 'Close' and RESTART your phone.
5.) Your phone now has internet sharing and as a bonus is interop unlocked!
PS: You need to have a recent firmware on your phone or your diagnosis app and drivers will not be new enough to work.
EDIT: I built the file depoyer app using the tools provided by Heathcliff74 so many thanks to him! Also ADC is built in as well so no need to worry about that and I also upped the max number of connections from 3 to 5 devices.
NOTE: If you have internet sharing turned on (active hotspot) you will not be able to deploy XAP's untill it is turned off. Also, as with any xap, you need to have your screen unlocked to deploy.

Of course if you have ICS off then I'm sorry for this little rant and all I can suggest is restarting your phone and PC and trying again.

ICS is and was off. Found other posts with same message. Currently reinstalling dev tools. I do IT support for a living and hate havinng to do troubleshooting on my own stuff From past experience with computers it is either a coincidence or cause when a new problem occurs. Hence the questions asked. I do remember seeing an odd usb error in system try when I was doing step 4. Did a troubleshoot on my Focus connection but that didn't help. Also tried all usb connections. If the reinstall doesn't work will have to get my htpc out and try on it.

Reinstall didn't work. Since it stopped after running system tweaks I am trying again. Wish the instructions had a note on how long after hitting the save button before it was done. Has the Loading GPRS Profile for System Tweaks on screen. I think I may have hit the close button yesterday while is was still showing Loading. Right now I am not touching phone till I see it go away. Unless you are supposed to hit close right after hitting save.

The settings are applied almost instantly, as soon as it says loaded after you hit save then you can hit close and restart. Another user stated they had to turn ICS on then off again before he could deploy XAPs. Another question, you haven't turned on wired tethering have you? I ask because if you don't set your phone back to Zune sync you also will get the error you are getting.
EDIT: Main question, does Zune see your phone when you plug it in at all? Can you sync media? Cause if you can't you have another issue that is beyond anything my XAP could have done.

That kind of worked. Turned on ICS then back off. Got Advanced Config to install. Now get UnauthorizedAcessException. Click ok and app closes. Go from one issue to another.

Max. Unsigned App error

Using a Dev + Interop Unlocked LG Optimus 7
I have some 10-15 XAPs, homebrew installed but when I tried installing another app today, it said:
Maximum no. of Unsigned apps are installed.
I have tried this Reg edit but the same error.

I don't know how all of a sudden I got this error, no factory reset or anything was done.
A few days back, I upgraded to Tango 8773, could this be the reason?

When you apply hacks to your phone, you *really* need to do some research before installing updates. It's well documented (here and on other WP7-homebrew-centric sites) that Tango will reset (restore) the URLs that WP7 uses to check its unlock status with Microsoft. Among other things, this check happens every time the phone connects with the PC, so as soon as you plug the phone in, the phone learns from Microsoft that you're only *supposed* to have 10 unsigned apps, and resets that registry value.
Fortunately, on an LG this is quite easy to fix; simply re-apply the "prevent relock" hack (you can find the relevant registry values on the Dev&Hacking sub-forum), and then re-apply interop-unlock, and you'll be good to go.

[Q] Downgrade windows phone 7.5 refresh (Tango)

So i upgraded to 7.10.8773.98 aka Tango without realizing i would lose inter-op unlock capabilities. So now, i cant have homebrew apps anymore which i really liked. is there any way that i can go back to an older version? i dont have a backup anywhere either.

Question 2: did you not read the info on how to preserve your until on Tango?
That said, if you really did nuke your backup, you're SOL. We don't yet know of any other way to downgrade a Samsung gen2 phone, nor of a way to interop-unlock a fully up-to-date one. It's possible to carry an unlock forward, but that's it.

Q1: So for like a month, i switched from windows phone to android to try it out. i was using the s2 but didnt really like it much. but when i switched, i deleted zune thinking i wouldnt need it. so i uninstalled zune. so since i uninstalled zune, my backup is now gone.
Q2: Question 1 answers it lol. but i had resetted my windows phone after i came back to it because the sim wouldnt be recognized. thats where i lost my interop-unlock

if i deleted zune, is there any way of getting my old backup back? like is it laying on my computer somewhere or no?

had you done it straight away its possible that you could have "undeleted" it, however it would have been a pure pain in the arse even if you did it straight away as its hundreds of files, all of which would have lost their name. leaving it for any length of time would have more than likely let the OS overwrite some of it.

Actually, I'm not certain that deleting Zune will also nuke the backup image. It's stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows Phone Update. Reinstalling Zune, or re-connecting your phone to Zune, may have wiped it though.
If you're running Vista or Win7, you may be able to recover the backup folder using the "Previous Versions" feature. Check for Previous Versions of your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft folder, and see if you can find the Windows Phone Update folder. If so, restore it (just the WPU folder, not everything else) and see if it works.
A month is a longish time for that many files to sit undisturbed in the volume shadow copy stash, but if you have a very large hard drive or don't do a lot of disk writes, it's quite likely they're still there. I have Previous Versions of some files that go back for three or more months.

Also, is there any way i can trick zune into thinking that i have an older version on my windows phone thus upgrading to like 8107 or 7740 or something? or is there any way that i can get the firmware online (instead of from the appdata thing on my computer) and download it and use that?

You can't use backups from other devices, the backup is device specific, your device your backup.
I'm not exactly sure how the updates work but I suspect it checks file version numbers an since we can't mess about with system files unless we have custom roms, which would negate this problem in the first place, I don't think it is possible to fool it to install an older firmware

I beleive the version info for updating actually comes from the registry (DeviceTargetingInfo). I've been meaning for some time to try messing with that, and since I need to re-flash my phone anyhow, I might just do so (I have an HTC, so this is possible for me). It's a dangerous registry key to mess with, though, and of course editing it requires interop- or root-unlock.
