have a look to JD's wakelocks
I used to be friends with it, but without it battery looks way better

^^ But, cpu spy shows that my phone does go to deep sleep. What else do I need to check for wakelocks?

Juice Defender isn't all that bad with battery .. I used it for a long time, the ultimate version..
But the problem is, whenever u unlock
or wake up the phone, the launcher lags real bad for sometime which gets annoying after a while (any launcher for that matter) because juice Defender uses up too much memory during startup..
So I had to dump. I use a widget called DATA SWITCH instead...

This may work:
adb shell dumpsys alarm > AlarmDump.txt
Then have a look at the file, towards the bottom you get Stats. In here is the breakdown of what's causing the device to wake up.

Does SMS Backup and Restore work well? I was just searching for something like that and there are a lot of sms backup apps available. It'd be nice to have one that works with MMS too, but as long as I can keep most of my messages I will be happy. My Backup looked promising as well. Edit: I just noticed My Backup lists MMS support, so that's probably the one I'll use.

SMS backup and restore is good because you can backup to an external SD card but for now does not support mms, it backs up way fast but a restore can take a while

dropbox is very helpfull to share Files and more between pc and phone

Only been on Android for about three weeks, Im a bit behind, but quickly learnt that I cant do without
Titanium backup, like most others, its a must.
Opera mobile.. Operas the first thing I put on any pc, and the same on the phone. Would have said opera mini next but it seems to have fallen foul of the "Google has helpfully re-rendered this page for mobile viewing" annoyance
Dropbox, quickly discovered its much less hassle to transfer files from the pc this way then mess around mounting sd cards.
A2E, only discovered it when link2sd didnt work with Cyanogen. Great little app.
Apps as catagorised as "useful" can mean different things to different people
Browser - Opera Mobile. Fast and speedy. Opera Mini in bad signal areas works a treat also.
News Feeder - Taptu. Create streams of information from favourite sites and blogs and css streams. Group sites into streams based on catagory. Best way of seeing your favourite stuff on one screen
Images - Lightbox. So many features, it should really be a replacement for your stock camera app
Storage - Dropbox. I can share stuff via dropbox. I can keep it and have it ready to pick up when i want. Perfect for sharing work with clients and showing draft designs of work completed. Google Drive is recent and may pose threats to the Dropbox crown
Messaging - Handcent. Has it all. Simply put.
Twitter - Tweetdeck. Clean interface and does its job best of all that i have tried.

How is the community doing?
With so many apps available in the android market (google play) I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread with peoples top 5 cant live without favorite apps.

[Q] Uninstalling useless services and programs from our phone (no Uninstall option)

Hello
As the title states, I'm interested in removing facebook (first I've wrote faceboob - I wonder why?!), twitter and other useless things (for me - I'm an anti-social networks) that are in my phone. And here's the list of what I want off my phone and which is eating up memory:
3D Space - cause there's other links to do that
3D Games&Apps
Adobe Reader - not using it ever
Browser - I found Opera more suitable
Guided configuration - already know how to use it
Facebook - never use it and no intent to use
Maps - I will never have a internet mobile connection so, as is internet related, I won't use it
SNS - ????
Street view
Talk
Twitter
Video editor
Voice search
What's new
I'm talking about apps and services that have not the Uninstall option. And we're talking about 30 Mb of memory
Thanks for your help

Have you tried friendcaster? I recently switched and I'm never going back. The app is faster with notifications that actually work, plus birthday notifications. And friendcaster chat messages actually show up instantaneously so you can hold a conversation without having to constantly refresh. The only tradeoff is that due to facebook's permissions, some posts don't show up in the app. Big emphasis on some, I get 99% of posts and i check the website occasionally anyway so its basically a non-issue.
Here are mine, that I use daily.
- TuneIn Radio Pro
- Flipboard
- XDA
- K-9 Mail
- Handcent SMS

There is no good reason to be stuck with Wind branded 2.2.2.
The problem is that 5 apps only get's me rolling again after a new ROM flash.
1. TiBU pro
2. Dropbox
3. gApps
4. Xpress Connect (for WiFi @ work)
5. ES file Explorer
then I'm ready to start installing apps.
top 5 non-maintenance apps:
1. Grooveshark
2. Amazon
3. Swype
4. Camera apps (LG mod for CM7, HDR Camera, Instagram, Flickroid)
5. BeyondPod Pro
I've started to use Flipboard too but find it too Twitter heavy and I don't like that it still requires a lot of loading from outside pages.
