Jelly Bean on TF700 (& TF700T) - Asus Transformer TF700

I just read there is a way to get Jelly Bean early on the TF700. I am just wondering, has anyone tried patching their TF700T (or TF700) with the TF300 jelly bean.

What is going to be with all apps that I bought using ICS. Will they be available for free after update to JB?

I don't know what is going to be with all your base but your ICS apps will live on...

I did this and would not recommend it to anyone :
1.On the ft300t jellybean the brightness is always 100 % and there is no way of turning it down ( store apps can only mask it)
2.Due to the screen brightness thing and not beeing optimized for the 700t jb burns through the battery like crazy (30-40 % per hour)
3. While not completely impossible ( I did it) going back to ics is a pain in the ass and has the risk of hardbricking the device
4. as far as i can tell we have an AOSP alpha release imminent

Totally agree with you. Asus will come through with an upgrade for the TF700T just as they said they would. There may be a few bugs in the release as there has been with each release of an upgrade with the TF101 and TF201 but thats to be expected. I for one am waiting for the official release. No since in getting over worked up about a tablet upgrade considering every thing else thats going on in our world.

+1. I'd much rather they do a fully qualified version that is mostly solid and addresses a lot of the issues with ICS (i.e. a few bugs but no show stoppers), I'm tired of stuff with major flaws. There aren't really any JB specific things I simply must have right now that would make an unstable release (or wedging a version for different device onto it LOL) worth it for me.

JB can take all the time in the world. I'm still soaking in ICS. I'm totally satisfied with what our devs have done, and it wouldn't bother me a bit if they didn't mess with JB. There's still a lot of potential to be found with our ICS right now anyways. Just let it go, and if one of them want to do it, they will. Or, you can slide one of them a chunk of cash and tell them what you want, lol.
It doesn't hurt to discuss it. Once people become annoying with requests for JB, then it's a different story.
I wonder how smoothly it actually runs on the SGS.

I wonder how much more we could use the newest platforms.
I mean, it's based on a new and improved code but also is based on the assumption of running on better devices.
ICS is running nicely on our device, but i'm not sure JB will.

I was under the impression that Project Butter indicated the emphasis on performance in JB. So could it be that if (or hopefully when) it gets ported over, it could actually end up being smoother than ICS?

Smoother than ICS. Just got done playing with a test build of CM10 on my other phone(I727). Zero lag and I mean zero. Whether will be able to port it remains to be seen and the ICS ROMS we've gotten over the past month are huge. Still never hurts to discuss it.

Yea but it runs fine on the nexus s which has nearly 100% of the same hardware. Any device that can run ics can also run jb. It matters more about optimization than hardware specs

Regarding OP
It'll be a little bit.
We're still trying to get ICS under control. We're using a GB kernel (2.6.35.7) modified to work with ICS (ics was designed for 3.0.8). We still have issues with sleep and a number of other issues we have noted on our github.
Granted, we will release a source built Jellybean build at some point and it will be based off of what the Galaxy S & variants device maintainers do, but we are still playing catch up to them on Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich.
I hate giving ETAs, but we'll have something within the next month and a half.

No problems there . It is just annoying how upset some people get over these things. I will still mess with it. I am starting with compiling for my phone since I don't have to unlock it and know the hardware is working.
So back to the actual topic. Would it be easiest to base cm10 off of the one for the tf201 and use the kernel from asus for the tf700? Or would that not work?

Too bad, sorry for that .I can't wait to see a CM on the Infinity and this damn bug or whatever it is is keeping us from have it.I've seen a lot of guys in the TF300T forum having the same issue (my wife's tf300t unlocked just fine and hope my tf700 will do it too) and some said that doing a factory restor and starting the tablet without any account did the trick, others said that doesn't worked for them and who tried to contact Asus for this got this answer " they do not support any issues that customers are having with the unlock tool" .Sandly seems that the only way for now is to ask a replacement because the device doesn't receive OTA updates (also it seems that who is affected by the bootloader unlock also doesn't receive OTAs) and hope you will get a new one that works.

I don't think there is any news regarding the JB update for the tf700. To me, this is actually a good news, because ASUS can take time to ensure that the update works properly. After reading all the complaints after the JB update for the tf300 (it breaks so many things on the tf300), I can only thank God for not having this kind of early update on my tf700. For now, I am very happy with ICS and don't mind waiting, especially when my tf700 is already very good.

I'm with dmeadows......they may appear to be little, but the framework is what matters. You act like its a matter of updating a few apps, lol.
I kinda wonder if cyanogenmod is actually planning on it being a little big (week or two). Why would they have released a (stable) the day before 4.2 knowing it was dropping? Maybe he knows it'll be some time still...

Yeah around my house it's compared to going through someone's wallet or purse! Rude!
im not sure how i feel about having the nav buttons in the center of the screen. also i saw some video of the multitasking, seems to take up a strip running in the center(horizontally) across the screen instead of alone the left side vertically, definitely not a fan of that look.
this multiuser feature is nothing new really, have been using it through an app called "SwitchMe" for a long time and it works great: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme. there's also a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807524

I wouldn't worry too much...if there are that many issues, they will be addressed. The last thing they want is to lose all credibility while they're spending more money developing key lime pie. Perception is a key component of how valuable a company's stock is, and I am sure they realize that. Just my opinion.
