Hello.
I bought an entry-level Sony, an XPERIA Tipo, some days ago.. (too many to have my money back..)
After some days, i bought a 16GB Samsung SD and i inserted into the SD slot.
My Sony Tipo knows that has 14,9 GB more :crying:, but doesn't know how to deal with this additional SD..:crying::crying:
In "settings", under memory, it lists its phone memory (754 MB), its Internal memory (2,15 GB) and SD card (14,9 GB), but doesn't handle this external SD card at all. Applications follow OS, so they don't consider SD as a possible path for saving data or themselves...
So I'm ending my available 2,15 GB; and since the phone has not been rooted already, I cannot do anything.
In file system, Internal additional memory is mounted under /mnt/sdcard directory, while SD is mounted under /mnt/ext_card
If I would be root, i'd try to rename ext_card to sd_card.. I'd prefer to have a 16GB SD card, than 2GB only
Any ideas about? Any suggestions?
Thanks, regards.
(PS Sony assistance didn't know anything about the issue)
If we had root it wouldnt take much to switch the mount points we can unlock the bootloader on sony site
But still need to get root installed

Hello. First of all, I am completely new in Android phone so excuse me my noob questions.
So, I bought a new SD Card (Micro SD class 4 16GB) for my Sony Xperia Tipo (ST21i). It's not rooted, not modified. The problem is, that phone sees the SD card in memory options, BUT it cannot install anything on the SD card. What's more, I cannot really tell what's the problem here but Apps 2 SD application doesn't see my SD cards, and recognises Internal memory (2,5GB) as SD Card... Is this fixable somehow? I am stuck on installing everything to internal memory? I cannot also use adb, it doesn't list my device.
Please help Thanks.

DirectoryBind uses Root access guys. If you correctly read 1st post u'd know the person in question hasn't rooted his device.
So that would have to be done first. Now as far as I know you can install apps on the phone memory aswell as the internal memory. I do not know what's exactly the reason Sony mounted internal as sd_card, now with a few tweaks you could change these mountpoints, but again that requires access. I'll post some links in a few min.
Root Method: (always make a backup first)

Changing the mountpoints:

I wouldn't know a fix without Root...
Sent with my finger on the 'Send' button of my Sony Xperia Tipo (ST21i)

You need to root your phone and edit /etc/void.fstab
Change ext_card to sdcard and sdcard to ext_card and reboot your phone. Now your phone will show internal storage as your original SD card (around 14 GB in my case)
Off topic people thank SONY atleast you people have got EXT-SDCARD support what we XPERIA U users should say :/
What is different: Install apk On the SD Card not the ext_SD Card ???
Thx!
Sdcard is your internal 2gb. Ext_card is your microsd 32gb or whatever size you have. In normal unroot conditions, everything will go to the 2gb. Mod your vold.fstab, you can install to 32gb. Remember, nfs most wanted alone needs at least 1.8gb free. No hd games for you if keep installing on the 2gb. Also, .apk file is just a program like nokia s40 .jar file. But hd games download more gamedata not just the .apk.
Now using:
Sony Xperia tipo ST21i
stock 4.0.4
11.0.A.4.22
(rooted, locked bootloader)
Current problem:
Cant get past installing flash drivers in xp.
Thanks,but read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40463837#post40463837
It says:
Install
* On the SD Card not the ext_SD Card

Diferrent?
That? Its based on your current vold.fstab settings. If you use the small internal as /sdcard , install here. If you use the microsd as /sdcard , put it in the microsd. Just make sure the location is /mnt/sdcard depending on your vold.fstab.

If you swap ur internal memory and sd card, you wil notice that in your computer the sd card will become internal storage and internal storage will become sdcard
Hello.
Have this new Xperia V with stock Jelly Bean rom, only rooted, and when I got a 32GB sd card, I noticed that it was not using it like it was on my last phone with ICS.
On ICS you only had 2 storages - phone storage and sd card. You could move apps to sd and back to phone.
On JellyBean there is only phone and internal storage (like an emulated sd card), and you can move the apps only between those two. The sd card can not be used for apps.
So my question is, is it possible to merge the phone and internal storage, so it only appears as phone storage, and the sd card to be available as an option to move apps to, Like it was on ICS?
If not, would the downgrade to ICS make only one internal storage, and the other one to be the sd card?
EDIT: Is this thread what I am looking for? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254918

Use a simple app called Link2SD [Require root access ]
its not the same u gotta create ext . was hoping for a memory swap solution
You could make let's say another Ext3/4 partition but that won't work as internal memory...

yes, would cynogenmod and int2ext scripts work on this device?
I gave a fast look at it and with int2ext you still need to partition the SD card. As it shouldn't be otherwise anyway. Then I'm not sure if it would work. It uses the partition
Code:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2
but that one in our phone belongs to the internal mmc, not to the SD card. Still you may give it a try. It's highly suggested to previously make a Nandroid backup, though. Unless you don't mind having to restore your phone to factory settings in case.
