My guess is that topic could be of interest for people which wants to go back to GB after testing ICS RUU.
My doubt is shall I first unlock the phone (it is still stock) or go straight to ICS by RUU.
Maybe, I do not have to unlock it at all, since I intend to use RUU for ICS and in case I want to revert back to GB I will use RUU for GB.
Is this right way?
Can I go back to GB with original RUU after ICS?
Will anyone reply?

I guess you cannot unless you are rooted and S-OFF.

Because ICS sucks... Sense, the interface who makes HTC smartphones so beautifull, is very slow on Desire S with ICS..
Maybe some custom ROMs with ICS will be better.
I need GB back but I know that is hard to do.
Just for my curiosity: why is ICS so perfect for you?
it's not slow at all. try to reflash ICS...
Is there possibility to revert back after RUU with ICS?
After ICS can the Desire S be unlocked and S-OFF?

Have you tried a factory reset?
I know you will lose all your data and settings, but I also know that the official update should not be laggy. Have tried it myself, buy at the moment I'm CM 10 and want to keep it a while so I cannot say how it is to use as a daily driver.

After ICS you can still unlock by htcdev.com.
And you can revert back to GB by modifying misc_version

Please would someone be able to advise as per the following:
Im currently running stock GB on o2 unlocked and used revolutionary tool to S-off only and h -boot 1.117.
Eveything else is stock...
Will i be able to OTA the new ICS when HTC release or do i have to do anything to the phone to get it.
regards
rich
You should be able to but from this thread > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487521
They say don't mess around with it.
You should do. I was able to receive an OTA update when I was s-off but that was after reinstalling an RUU which must have been an old version and the OTA updated to the latest version. That was a month or so ago though

Or Will i receive ota when HTC release the new ICS

If you are still on the stock gingerbread that came with your device then yes you will receive the ota update, unlocking and s-off don't make a difference.

if I understand your CID right you are orange-branded.
so try the ruu for the orange one which you can find here
http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/?developer=VilleC2
(second from bottom).
relock your bootloader if you are unlocked before running the ruu

Is it safe for me to Flash the Official JellyBean file or I can use any Custom ROM?.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Why not just flash a custom ROM?

Can i Flash any ROM even 4.2 version roms like Viper XL?
Yes you can flash any ROM. Your firmware is pretty old so you'll need to update it to whatever each ROM requires.

How can i do that, so i just need update hboot? and how can i?
If other things require updating, please can you provide the link on how to?
Thanks
No, not just the hboot. The hboot is only one component of the firmware. You need to run the 3.18 RUU, this will set you up for all aosp ROMs. If you want to flash a Sense 5 Android 4.2.2 ROM you'll also need to flash the 2.15 firmware. I don't have a link for that but there are a couple of threads you can find it in if you search.

Yes, I unlocked bootloader and flashed the new viper rom. No, the phone is from the same place as where I live, Victoria, from telstra. No, I still am on Telstra.

Use another Rom, viper rom is more stable network with radio 1.20. You can only flash radio when you're s-off. Easiest way is to install some CM based rom or make your self familiar with getting S-OFF ....

This may be a hassle, but could you please guide me on how to S-OFF? I'm sick of these damned 2G speeds and am willing to do whatever it takes to get my 3G working again. Or if CM is easier, which ROM would make my 3G work?
Actually, thanks for the info, I flashed bilal_liberty's CM 10.2 Stable ROM. Been managing a healthy HSDPA connection. Hopefully this will last. I shall let you know if anything goes wrong.
Sry didnt mind your Post. Still Want s-off?

Either flash a custom ROM that's a lower Android version or run an earlier RUU.
