Best browser - Asus Transformer TF700

What browser do you use and why?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium HD app

I keep switching between Boat, ICS+, Dolphin, Maxthon...
They all work and they all kind of suck too.
Maybe web browsing on android is just a pain in the butt.
It's the same on my wife's tablet...
Pick one...all the browsers freak out in varying degrees.
I realize this is a non-answer.
Good luck finding a smooth non crashing browser.
Sent from somewhere...

I use the stock browser and it is pretty much faster after I install (Browser2ram) (( need root ))

I use boat that it's perfect and chrome only for Facebook full site.
Inviato dal mio ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T con Tapatalk 2

I've tried Chrome, Firefox Beta, Dolphin and ICS+ and went back to stock. As was previously said each one has its issues. Even on my HOX none of them works perfectly. When I set my CPU governor to Performance then the stock browser is as good if not better than the rest.

+1 for Boat - very fast, and very stable (I don't have *any* crashing issues with Boat). Still get the occasional web site that just doesn't work right, even with Boat, but it's the best I've found. Dolphin seems pretty good as well.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2

Dolphin because of the Lastpass plugin. Can't live without Lastpass, but I am sure Dolphin as a browser isnt the best, I wish other browsers would add it.

I like ICS+. The quick controls are convenient, but the main reason i stick with it is when Google imported my hundreds of bookmarks into it, all of them were still organized into all the folders and subfolders i spent HOURS on reorganizing. All the other browsers i have tried so far, just dump them all in with no organization at all. Just 200 something bookmarks plopped at your feet.

FireFox seems to be getting better, too. It's out of beta stage now.
I'm using Chrome for syncing bookmarks / open tabs with my PC, but it can be done with FF as well now, I believe.

I like Dolphin. It had everything i need. Boat is great, but i keep going back to Dolphin.

I don't like apps spying on me, so I don't like these two, but we had a discussion on that already in the best apps sticky thread a while ago, and jtrosky will beat the hell out of me for spoiling browsing fun by saying this, so I need to keep quiet.

Firefox does have sync ability.
Chrome and Stock browser both sync to your desktop bookmarks.
Browsing on Infinity is one of the weakness and hope to be improved aspect. Some one in this thread mentioned possibility of all browser sucks on android, which is NOT true. I had different tablet and its browsing experience was superior to iPad 2 for its speed, stability.
Also there is this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.h.chromemarks&hl=en, which allows you to launch any browser using chrome's bookmark.

Everything looked rather tiny on the Infinity last time I checked.

Mibile Firefox
I like to:good::laugh: work with Firefox on my Asus Tf700T. It works great and fast

Actually, I got my Infinity in july and right now the web experience is the main drawback experience so far. The lag and crash of the launcher is far less annoying that the slowness and lag of the web browsing. I have tested nearly all browsers and none is giving me good experience :
- stock browser : miss some functionalities, slow and laggy
- chrome : my prefered as i'm sharing my bookmarks with my personal computer, work computer and iphone but too slow and laggy
- firefox : looks nice and is doing bookmarks sync (but firefox does not exist for my iPhone), still beta version that deals very badly with plugins. For example when a page needs a flash player then it will display an ugly inside-window with "click here to activate the plugin" and that inside-window prevent any fast web browsing.
- others (boat, dolphin, opera ...) : not impressed, all miss the sync of chrome bookmarks (needed to have my bookmarks sync on all my platforms)
My hope is that Jelly Bean/next version of chrome will improve the stability and swiftness of that browser as this is the only one that contains all the functionnalities i need.

hmm, I might wait for the asus vivo tab. I'm traveling before it gets released, so I'm gonna be pretty gutted not using it overseas

Agreed..., sadly.
Though, if NoScript finally becomes available for FF then this will be a prime reason for me to stick to FF (beta or not,
not that much difference these days).

Maxthon tablet browser

Has anyone tried the Maxthon tablet browser yet? Is it me or is this the best browser out there? Let me know if anyone has any problems with this browser. So far i tried DolphinHD, Opera, Miren and the best so far for me is the Maxthon tablet browser.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
we should let you know because....your concerned? or did you develop this?
With their statment, "Make no mistake, with over 500 million downloads of its PC web browser Maxthon knows how to make your web sizzle" I would have thought that I'd have heard of this before.
i used maxthon way back in the days before explore had tabbed browsing. i think it used to be a shell for ie and had some extra security and scripts to improve it.
Odd, I always thought it was Chinese spyware.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I don't know if it is now, but it was a recommended app way back by maximum pc. that along with ie pro... or something like that.
Well I've set the Market to install it once I'm back home so we'll see how it goes...
I've had my Xoom for a couple of weeks now and I've tried the built-in browser, Maxthon and Dolphin HD. To be honest, I think Maxthon pad is the most stable browser I have used so far. In fact, I have gone on to select it as my default browser.

I don't want to sound like an uninformed dummy here, but what is wrong with the default browser? All issues I've had with it have been site specific, which I credit to the site maintainers, not the browser. I simply avoid those sites on the Xoom.
Is the built-in browser more strict on standards-compliance? Is it not feature-rich enough? What exactly is the problem with it?

There is nothing "wrong" with it necessarily, but some browsers render faster, or more cleanly than the stock one.
I use opera, and maxthon

I'v been using MX for several years on my laptop. U konw why?
I could sync my favorates with the server.
Since MyIE2
I used Maxthon way back when it was MyIE2. I like it. I loved the mouse gestures, and it was just easier than IE. I continued using it after it became Maxthon for a while, but then I went Linux only for a few years and used FireFox and Opera. Now I'm strictly Google Chrome, but I think I will give it a look on the Xoom.
Using maxthon on xoom right now - DEFINITELY faster. I'm pleased.

Most desktop like browser??

So i have find he stock browser, skyfire, dolphin, and xscope all installed
and i cant find one that works really well for all pages, like a desktop browser.
what do you all use for your web browsing?
i use the dock, and the typing in web forums is pretty laggy i dont know if this is a browser, or dock issue though...
my default right now is dolphin, but skyfire seems to handle more complex pages better
Havd you tried firefox?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I had the same problem.
The only browser that can load my university website and about a dozen other pages that I frequent is Opera Mobile.
The other ones all have big gaps in pages, won't download files and pages look messed up -- even Firefox.
I haven't tried Skyfire, but I tried all the others mentioned.
Have you tried changing the user agent to desktop in the stock browser (in settings)? Web pages always show up exactly as they should for me with this setting.
Lag in the browser is honeycomb specific ..happens on xoom and galaxy tab as well

Opera
Opera mobile have desktop like experience and overall very good browser
i have stock and maxthon installed and i use always the stock. Dispite the lag works pretty nice even for watching football transmissions.
I too don't really like any of the browsers, keep going back and forth when one does something that pisses me off I switch to another for awhile. I currently got Firefox, Dolphin HD, Opera, Maxthon installed and they all suck at different things. Overall the web browsing experience is pretty ****ty compared to ipad even without the flash, it's just so damn slow and laggy. Wish they'd bring out Atomic Web and Mercury browsers to Android, those both rock especially Mercury on the ipad.
anyone tried Dolphin for Pad? Its quite good! Replaced Opera with it!
I like Dolphin so far.

Both Dolphin HD and Dolphin for Tabs work great. The stock browser is pretty good too. Just make sure you set the User Agent to Desktop.
Does no one elses dolphin have a weird graphical glitch when you tap in the address bar?

Since today I've upgraded from Dolphin HD browser to Dolphin for Pad. This new version was released yesterday and I like it very much! Since I already was a Dolphin user, this browser is even better dan the old one.
What's different in Dolphin for Pad?
It seems to work ok but I dont seem to have the "button" for gestures.....or am I missing something. Also how do you get quickly to the history without going through settings ?

In my opinion there is no a definite browser at this moment.
- No one has ad block but firefox.
- No one is able to upload files but Opera.
- No one has a private mode but stock browser.
- Opera is slow when showing pages already loaded in cache and it does not render pages until fully loaded.
- Firefox has an horrible square patron when scrolling. I don't understand why. And image scaling is quite bad. And don't support flash.
- Stock browser and Dolphin render quite fast as pages are loaded and perhaps are more balanced...
So at the end of the day I use firefox for regular browsing (due to adblock and a better tabs management in my opinion), opera when I have to upload something, for example torrent files to my transmission server, and stock one if I have to use private mode (specially if I have to access hacking and or scene blogs)...

Stock or Chrome browser?

I'll have to say I am pretty happy with the stock browser, is fast, smooth when zooming in/out, you can easly flip between desktop and mobile mode, it supports flash and tabs.
Now that I am finally rocking ICS I am curious about Chrome. For you guys that use Chrome, why do you use it instead of the stock browser? how is it better?
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Chrome
Chrome. Mainly for the ability to sync between my computer and phone. The app Chrome to Phone is also very handy.
Chrome
Chrome. As a developer I wish Google would just deprecate the stock browser in favor of Chrome. I do a lot of mobile specific web dev and Chrome just is so much smoother css animations and supports more of the HTML5 input controls and has better local data support. Which all translates to a much better experience for the user.
In my experience and opinion, Chrome runs FAR better than our stock browser. I exclusively use Chrome on my computer but never liked it on my phone. Until this phone.
Just needs ability to save downloads to sdcard and we'll be good...

I love the Quick Controls.. so stock for me
Dolphin Browser or Chrome. They both run very will and are packed with features. Dolphin has more add-ons if your into that but I personally use Dolphin because I like how the tabs appear at the top for quick access.
I'd definitely have to say, go with Chrome. In my opinion it's just so much better than stock in every which way. I use to use Dolphin Browser but people keep saying that they're leaking out important information or something like that.
Chrome
Synergy r73, Trinity Alpha 7 thanks to the monkey
Firefox. Just try it.
Thanks for all the replies guys!
I really liked chrome but it did have some issues with swiftkey. I have not tried it for a while and maybe that issue is fixed but just letting you know if you are a swiftkey user.

I used Dolphin on the OG and stopped after hearing about a security fail. Once you have stories about a company it is hard to rebuild trust. I have all the majors installed besides Dolphin. Chrome / Firefox / Opera. I don't use chrome much at all on the Desktop buit I have started to use Opera more and more on the Desktop. That being said I am using Chrome more on the SG3 for the most part.
I use chrome in any device that is capable of handling it because of the syncing feature.

This thread has made me reinstall chrome. Tried it on my GNexus before but that was at first availability, I'm sure it's better now.
Definitely chrome. The sync between all my desktops, laptops, tablet, and phone make this choice a no brainer for me.
Chrome. While I tend to flip between all other major browsers... Chrome is the one I keep coming back to.

Fastest and Best Browser?

I know this is a bit of a subjective questions but what does the majority feel as the fastest/best browser?
I've tried stock, Chrome and Dolphin. I'd have to say I prefer Dolphin but believe only stock/Chrome integrate bookmarks with my desktop/laptop Chrome browser.
So, thoughts on what is your favorite browser?
I like both, just install both, but I like dolphin HD is better, chrome sometime very stupid, both of em u can sync with ur pc too

Give boat browser a shot. It is extremely lightweight, very fast and stable with many tabs open. I'm a big chrome fan on desktop but have grown frustrated with it and now use boat on my 10.1 and SGS3.

Naked browser... exyremely fast.
from my note 2
You can use Bookmarks to SD it is in Google Play as a dolphin plugin and it will allow you to export and import bookmarks to and from a bookmarks.html file so you can export your bookmarks from your laptop / desktop chrome, firefox, etc. to a bookmarks.html file and then import them into Dolphin or the default browser.
Opera - for me nothing else matches its ease of use, tab handling and text reflow.
Opera Browser !

Be careful with Dolphin and Boat. Check out this thread for how browsers track you. It's an invasion of privacy and it wastes bandwidth, battery power, and CPU cycles. I know Dolphin and Boat are specifically mentioned in that thread and I'd stay away from them. Opera Mini does have the option to send all of your data through Opera's servers so be aware of that.
I made Naked Browser in response to all of the privacy shenanigans of most of the browsers out there. It's free in the Google Play Store, is tiny and quick yet with lots of features, and does not and will never spy or monitor in any way. No ads either!
Boat browser. Light, very fast, support flash and has very good features.

Firefox because Chrome is ****ty on my Ubuntu drive (still not sure why and I don't have time to fix it yet), and I like having the syncs.
Dolphin defeats all because of easy access to bookmarks with it's slideout sidebar. Until someone else copies that no other browser competes.
The one that comes closest is Maxthon but Dolphin is still just a bit slicker.
The disadvantage to Dolphin and Maxthon is that no one seems to be able to get them to work in multiview. Ah for one browser that just does it all!

Naked Browser has the slideout sidebar for bookmarks and works in multiview.
Dolphin, Maxthon, Boat, and many others violate your privacy (wasting your battery power, bandwidth, and CPU cycles in the process) while Naked has no user spying or monitoring.
I feel like using windows 3.1 with naked, it's that ugli
To naked lol, it's skinless, only bones... a nice interface will make it great.

chrome beta

Who's testing this out?
I'm using it now. So far I don't see any differences. Anyone else trying it?
Yeah - I'm playing with it also.
Not seeing anything yet, but from running 2 chromebooks, I usually see quite a bit of difference with the beta channel.
Probably just a matter of time...
Anyone try the new Firefox? The page rendering is absolutely gorgeous.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
I also have the fireFox beta as well. Agree with you on the rendering, so far haven't noticed it being very fast though
Chrome beta? Don't you mean just Chrome? When Google first released Chrome for Android it was just a beta, but it's not anymore, and it's still no where near the performance as the x86/x64 Chrome on PC.
I keep the Chrome icon on my homescreen for fashion purpose only but primarily use the stock Android browser.
I haven't downloaded Firefox lately, but I have been using Mozilla's Aurora which I'm sure Firefox is getting it's new features from.
Overall I'm not satisfied with the Android browser desktop experience simply because I still have to switch between Stock, Aurora, and Boat to view certain websites for compatibility, when there really should be one main browser that can do all.
Chrome releases a beta several days ago. It's not in the play store. You have to get it online.

The desktop version of Chrome runs stable and beta channels, and now the Android version does the same. Beta channel on the desktop gets functions before the stable, but as the beta moniker suggests, they may not be without a few stability issues.
Since I run beta on the desktop and contribute with bug reports, improvement suggestions, etc, I figured I would do the same on Android...
The beta version is in the Play Store, but it's the TF700 gets the unsupported device message. I sideloaded, since I have it on my GNex...
On my Infiniti TF700, it's way faster than base Chrome. However Chrome Beta still stutters and lags and no flash support. Best option for Asus transformers is stock browser with Browser2ram. Single best improvement once you root your device.
Another option is to use Dolphin browser. Go to Its Setting-> Lab. Turn on the "Cache to SD Card". You will see huge performance improvement right after.
Though Dolphin browser still does not support Flash though.

which really annoys me that dolphin did that. they assume every user that has JB will not have flash and have removed the option to even use it. grr.
Why every now and then.....when I try to search something on Google, or in the browser url, it will freeze and not do anything? It sometimes happens when I go from website to website too. I would clean the cache and history to no avail. I'd do a reboot and it works.
It's so annoying! Is there a easier way or fix? Anyone else experience that?
It happens on both stock Browser and Chrome (non beta).

I tried the new Firefox and had to stop pretty quick. Unless you use Phony, or something similar, to change the user agent, popular pages like ESPN (especially the mobile version) could not be viewed properly.
