(Root,Cwmr,Hacks) Pantech Vega S5 (SKY IM-A840S) - Android General

Title borrowed from hackarchive to keep things consistent
I bought the pantech Vega Racer S2 (IM-A830L) and received it a few days ago. This was an upgrade from a Dell Streak phone that i was using for some time. This phone is amazing. The touch screen feels responsive, the screen is bright and nice, and most of all, I didn't experience any slowdowns / lags on this device. Everything was buttery smooth.
After 2 days of playing with it, and flashing it, I decided to sell it off, and tomorrow it will be delivered to its new owner. The reason is because, after getting used to a 5" screen device, it is a little hard to getting used to a 4.8" device.
This is where the SKY IM-A840S comes in. A 5" phone, that claims to have eliminated most of it's bezels surrounding the screen. A 13 Megapixel camera is included as well. The rest are more or less the same with the Vega Racer 2 (IM-A830L/K/S)
What do you guys think of this phone?
* There is a rumor that a Quad-Core version will be released, the SKY IM-A850, utilizing the Snapdragon Quad Core S4 Pro with Adreno 320 GPU. Not sure when it will be released though since I heard that the sales for the Vega S5 isn't that good at the moment.

Reserved for future custom rom

I have also bought A840S, and it is very good.
Any idea how to remove the warning message about turning off the wifi when I move outside a wi-fi covered area?

Nice. Is there any lag? The phone responds properly? How about games?
Is the camera good?
I tried the A830L. The phone runs lag free but the camera, although 8MP, but performs poorly.
About the wifi warning, i think it has to be removed using a cooked ROM / editing system files.

Got mine last week. I am not really good at shooting camera, but from close range shooting is good. lag wise, I use apex launcher, so buttery smooth. Games wise should be OK as it using adreno225. I think it's still loose to my one x though

That is good to hear. It doesn't perform as good as your one x in games ? or basic tasks?
A new improved version of this phone is due to be released. Quad core with adreno 320. 5.3" IPS Screen. I wonder how its going to be like

Yeah, heard about the new a850 Which due next month. I dint actually use this for gamimg. This phone mainly for daily usage. But deep sleep is way better in one x, I think custom rom will really help. As most of the power go into cell standby.

Is there any 3rd party ROM IM-A840S ? Heard that it has so many problem with SMS in China/Hong Kong. Further, for some unknown reason, the 4G LTE 1800 is not working in Hong Kong.

I had no pro with sms but just can't send more than 80 characters, due to Korea characters. My carrier do not have 4g/Lte so can't really test it.

Seems the phone has been rooted now? Link here: diendanso.vn/dien-thoai-han-quoc/1611-root-recovery-rom-cho-sky-a840s.html
Not that I can figure out how!

Hello,
Does it have a camera button? Microsim or ordinary Sim?
What about Screen quality?

Just got one of these from HK. I think its already rooted with a custom rom already installed. Anyone know how to return to stock rom?

i dun see any difference ... for future proof wise .. better take branded phone like LG F160 ..is more cheaper yet phone accessories are easier to buy .. not SKY pantech phone.. Even the rom also not stable ... u have do more findinding about the roms on it ... price wise also expensive for me .... but if want to show of this is a good choice ...

will join soon to the community. was some work done on it already?

I do believe you can use the Sky Self Upgrade Service to get back to stock, as with other Sky phones.
Before that, you'll probably need to download and install the USB drivers: http://file.isky.co.kr/upload/software/USB/IMA840S_USBDriver.zip.
Next, go to
http://dmfile.isky.co.kr/NewSelfUpgrade/index.html
You'll need to use Internet Explorer (ugh) 8 or 9, as the page will attempt to run an ActiveX control which does the actual flashing.
Once the drivers are installed and the page is open, you should see a whole load of stuff in Korean and a rectangular button with rounded corners and a spinning icon that is not yet clickable. Turn the phone off. Hold both volume keys and then power on. Select PDL Download. Then plug in the phone. After a while the icon should stop spinning and the button become clickable.
Flashing will take some time. And by some time I mean up to half an hour. You must make sure the battery is *fully* charged before flashing!
OT as well, I've ordered one of these to replace my A830S.
Hope battery life improves a little - this is the A830 (Vega Racer 2)'s weakest point, apart from the lackluster 4.8" TN panel.
Seems to be loads of info here. I wish I had paid more attention in school during my Chinese lessons: http://bbs.wpcnn.com/forum-192-1.html

Camera Options

I am sure I am not the only one torn between htc one and the S4!
I am interested im a feature the htc one has and also something I have missed since getting rid of my iphone oh so many years ago (currently have SGS2)
The feature is being able to trim video within the stock camera app.
The reason I need this is when I revord a video on an android device and share it via email or mms I get an error message saying "file too large" or something similar.
On the iphone if it was too large it would give the option to trim the clip you had recorded. ......
Does anyone know if the S4 does this as htc has a trim option in their stock camera app....

I am doubting the S4 has this, But I believe there should be a 3rd party app to trim video before sending it off. Ill search a bit and see what I can find.

Finally someone is out there. .... good luck as I wanted a in built trimmer but sammy never includes one and android cant do the trim before email video thing. Would love am answer ??? I have literally been searching for one since my first Android SGS 1

I think the later firmwares from sammy have the option. Start the camera in video mode, settings->mode->Limit for MMS.
Even the Galaxy Ace 2 running GB has it. I'm sure the S4 will have it. Sammy always stuffs its phones with all features and settings..

Any reason why not to use the free VidTrim Pro available on Google Play.
I think S4 will not include the opiton and you will still install some camera apps which has the basic editing functions to trim, crop the video.
The HTC one has the best camera according to my opinion

One option I'd very much like to have - officially or via external app - is proper shutter speed control. The Exmor RS sensor shows good level of details even in low-light shots, but speed tops out at 1/15, so higher ISO kicks in with more noise. Results could be brighter and clearer if 1/8, 1/5, 1/3 etc. options were available for steady hands, I reckon 1/8 at ISO400 could match HTC One's dark shots with more details.

Just looking into this question - Camera FV-5 looks promising. Says that exposures longer than a half second are limited to 1/2mp depending on the phone, but obviously a half second exposure is already long enough to leverage a lot more light than the default camera will have available.

The only problem though with this feature of the App is it does not use the full sensor or image size to take the long exposure.
It grabs a snapshot of the original image first before altering the time and ultimately light.

Not for exposures shorter than a half second though apparently, sorry I don't think I was very clear on that.
EDIT: Just tried the free version on my Butterfly. Long exposure doesn't make a big difference, shots limited to 1080p resolution. Not sure if higher resolutions possible on the paid version, it says the paid version opens up all available resolutions, just not clear where those resolutions apply. May try again when I have my S4.

Yes, understand what you are saying re less than half a second.
I am sure though the Long Exposure mode does not utilise the sensor.
Will be interested to hear how you get on if tried on another device.

Main disadvantage:
Battery capacity Should be larger
No front Stereo Speakers
Creaking noise when pressed on the edges(maybe only on my device?)
Design and Build
FNF iFive Mini 3GS looks really nice, easy to hold in one hand and the OGS panel contribute to appearance when the screen is OFF.
My only complain about this tablet is that it doesn't fill as solid as iPad or other high quality tablet, you can hear Creaking noise when you press the edges around the screen, during daily use won't notice it- but for me it's really disappointing.
The Volume+power button located on the top of the device next to microSim,microSD slots, microUSB port and 3.5mm headphone jack.
The device Dimensions are really close to iPad Mini size, the tablet is really thin- look how it compare vs AA standard battery:
The Retina Screen:
The Best Part about this tablet is it's Superb Retina OGS IPS panel - 2048x1536 resolution, 327pixel density!
Browsing web, Watching Movies, Playing games - You gonna enjoy from every second of it
The touch screen support muti-touch, support 10 points touch, the touch panel is accurate and responsive and I have no complaint.
The viewing angles are great as expected from high quality OGS IPS panel:
Here is how 327 PPI looks like: (5MP 100% crop -macro shot).
KitKat 4.4.2 on MTK6592
Lately we see more and more device runnig KitKat on MTK SOC, IFive did great job making stable KitKat rom and it supports multi-language and OTA updates, it came with some Chinese apps that can be disabled or removed after gaining Root access.
The UI feels smooth and responsive.
Since I received it I have already got 2 new updates -seems that iFive really paying attention.
Gapps pre-installed:
Camera Quality:
iFive mini 3GS equipped with 5MP AF back camera and 2MP FF front camera, the image quality is descent for a tablet.
Here are some Samples images from the back camera- Click for 100% size:

Low light photos will be added later.
Front 2MP camera:
Benchmarks:

Vellamo
Connectivity
This Tablet is a Smartphone on steroids - it has both phone and tablet qualities. The call quality on the iFive mini 3GS was impressive-fill free to put 7.9" device near your ear -LOL.
There's also Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio and GPS on board.
WiFi Test on 15mb/s internet connection:
GPS - will update soon how it performed in real life
Battery Life:
Octa Core + 2048x1536 7.9" screen and only 4050mAh battery-why iFive?, It could be nicer to get 4500mAh for this spec and price.
I have only charged it 3 times- so it should be improved soon, I think the battery life is average for it's category- I will updated next week.
Here is the battery log for watching movies on YouTube over WIFI, screen brightness on AUTO (daylight-indoor).
Conclusion
I can say that I really liked this tablet, I think that 7.9" Retina tablets are the best form factor, they are big enough for any use and still you can hold your Tablet with the palm of your hand, it feels light and your hands don't get tired.
If only it could be more solid build without Creaking noise when pressed on the edges + 4500~5000mAh battery I would give it 10/10 Score.
My score for this tablet would be : 8/10.
IF you liked my review - you are welcome to hit "THANKS" button

Thats great can u share some details or steps how did u root it? Thank you.
Has anyone found a tempered-glass screen protector for this unit?
Coz I don't seem to find one for sale. I think its best to protect this baby's fantastic screen since its not made of gorilla glass, since this is not mentioned anywhere so I assume the mini 3gs doesn't have a gorilla glass on it.

ThL T6 Pro Review - MTK 6592M, 1GB RAM, 5" HD

Just a small note up first: You can read this review in a nicer format with all pictures in high resolution (including the camera pictures) on my blog :
http://klonom.com/thl-t6-pro/
The ThL T6 Pro is a budget smartphone with 5″ HD display, MTK 6592M octa core processor, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB ROM. It is an improved version of the ThL T6S (read the review here). I kindly received this phone from the Antelife shop. You can buy it for roughly 92€ plus sending right here from Antelife at the moment. You can find the review video like always at the end of the post.

Let’s start with the specifications of the happy phone:
Specifications:
-MTK 6592M Octa core processor, each up to 1.4 GHz
-Android 4.4.2 KitKat
-1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM
-MicroSD-Slot (up to 32 GB)
-8 MP back camera, 2 MP front camera
-5″ HD display (1280×720)
-GPS
-Sensors: Accelerometer, proximity and light
-1900 mAh battery (accoording to ThL)
-WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
-2G & 3G (WCDMA)
-Smart Gesture
Items delivered:
The ThL T6 Pro is delivered in the ThL typical white carton box with a silver lettering on the top. Beside the phone itself, the following items are inside the box: USB plug (5 V, 500 mA), USB data/charging cable, half transparent plastic back shell, additional screen protection foil (one was already applied), a headset and a quick start guide. The quick start guide is the usual, few sites long introduction to Android KitKat. The headset feels relatively cheap, it is very light and the headphones resemble to “1-Euro-Shop” ones.
First Impressions:
Something which you notice immediately while unpacking is that the T6 Pro is identical to the T6S from the outer appearence (read the review here). You could switch the both phones and you would first notice while powering on, because also the delivered accesoires are the same. This is not meant to be negative comment, since already the T6S gives a valuable impression and has small optical highlights. The phone has a bar shape, while the top and bottom edges are not straight, but slightly elliptical. Additionally the top and bottom edges are completely rounded off, so it creates the impression of being made in one cast in the first moment.
On the front side you can find the three control elements menu, home and back (from left to right), which are applied in silver color. They do not have a backlight, which is a bit troublesome in the dark. This downside is probably due to the low price. The power button is placed on the right side. I already liked the design of the buttons at the T6S because it is made out of transparent plastic, which makes them nearly invisible.
The same applies to the volume rocker on the left side. Both buttons are embraced by a silver ring, pretty nice in my opinion.
The back has a slightly rippled structure. On the back there are the camera, the flash and the loudspeaker.
Both ports are placed on the upper edge of the ThL T6 Pro, one 3.5 mm headphone jack and a MicroUSB port. The MicroUSB port placed on the upper edge is a small downside for me, since a longer USB cable is needed in case you want to use the phone while charging.
The phone is fed with two SIM cards, one “normal” (mini) sized and one micro. Both are placed at the same place facing each other. Beside the SIM slot you can find the MicroSD slot. The battery needs to be removed for either changing the SIMs or MicroSD. All in all, the phone feels valuable in comparison to its price.
UI/Android:
The ThL T6 Pro is running Android 4.4.2 KitKat just like its weaker twin the T6S. Also the slightly modified launcher is used. It is the normal KitKat stocklauncher, but with different icons. Every icon has a rounded, colorfull tile as a background. I personally like the design moderately, but since it can be changed easily this is not a big criteria. The swiping through the menu works without lags.
Performance:
To determine the performance a bit more subjective, I ran the Antutu Benchmark Version 5. The “budget-alternative” T6S scored roughly 19000 points. The improved version with MTK6592M scores around 26500 points. This is a pretty neat result, especially when being compared to the result of the iNew V3 Plus for example, which has the same SoC but 1 GB RAM more, but “just” scores around 20000 points (look here). I did not notice any lags or similiar while playing. Additionally a sample screen of CPU-Z.
Memory:
The ThL T6 Pro officially has 8 GB ROM. In the default state around 6 GB are usable. The memory is divided into phone and internal memory. The memory which can be used for apps is around 2 GB big, while roughly 300 MB are taken in the default state. There is not much bloatware installed: an additional app store, baidu browser, a speedup app, a torch app and a chineses “game center”. The memory can be extended with a MicroSD card, officially up to 32 GB. I just tried a 16 GB card successfully. The ThL T6 Pro does not support USB OTG.
Camera:
...check my blog post for the camera pictures and information
http://klonom.com/thl-t6-pro/
Display:
As already mentioned, the display is a 5″ IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720p. The display is flawlessly and for an IPS display typical a quite big viewing angle. In my opinion it is not an OGS.
Sensors:
The phone has three different sensors in total: light, proximity and accelerometer. All three sensors I could test successfully with the app “Sensor Box”. Just the light sensor does not seem to work reliable all the time: While testing the sensor stuck at the probably maximum of 640 luxes. I can not estimate, if this is a single or series problem.
GPS:
The first GPS fix out of the box was really fast: just about 10 s and the first fix was done. In the next minute the accuracy increased to about 4 m. Beside this, the GPS did not really convince me. Shortly after the first fix, I noticed that GPS test showed a speed – although I was standing at one point. While test navigation with Google Maps I noticed strong drifting of the GPS location. Also while slowly stopping at a traffic light, the GPS signal partly drifted on for about 10-20s, untill it found the right location. Also while standing at one point the GPS location party jumped right around. I just tested the GPS in the out of the box state, it maybe could be improved by GPS tweaks.
Reception:
I did not encounter any odd attributes with the reception. At all places I had the average normal reception, same goes for the WiFi. Also the bluetooth works well for me, I tried it several days with bluetooth headsets.
Misc:
The ThL T6 Pro has a notification LED at the top left in red. It works out of the as a notification LED. The phone is delivered not rooted and preinstalled with Google Apps. The T6 Pro supports “Smart Gestures“. The battery has a capacity of 1900 mAh (according to ThL) and holds surprisingly long. At the end of the day a had around 50% while using it average.
Review Video:
Conclusion:
I personally like the price-performance ratio of the ThL T6 Pro. It improves most of the weak points of the T6S and makes it to more than a replacement phone. This is under the requirement that not a good GPS is needed or it can be improved personally. All in all the phone gives a great performance for a budget price.
Hello! Can someone help me? I've rooted this phone via iRoot. I installed SuperSU and Busybox but I still cannot delete system apps!! Help please!

I would call it acceptable. It is not really good, means there is some "jumping around" and drifting. But with some tweaks it should be at least OK for using it for simple navigation. But if you are really depending on the GPS feature I would not recommend this phone.
Android Noobie!!
Hello, just a quick question. Will I be able to get Cyanogen on this and if it's possible where can I find a guide on how to do this? Thanks.

Cube offers what can seem like a bewildering array of tablets, including the standard Wi-Fi only Android tablets, the business-oriented iWork series and the cellular and phone-equipped Talk ranges. The T9 and the T7 are the latest offerings from the Talk series, although Cube did simplify their communication names. The 9.7-inch T9 reviewed here delivers a strong set of features and is a serious competitor for the Xiaomi M1 Pad and the Samsung Tab Pro 10.5. With 32GB of internal storage and full phone functionalities, the T9 costs only RMB1,499 ($244).
Cube T9 main specs:
 OS: Android 4.4
 Display: 9.7-inch IPS, 10-point multi-touch, IGZO
 Screen Resolution: 2048 x 1536 (4:3)
 CPU: MediaTek MT8752 octa-core processor (8 cores of 64-bit Cortex-A53)
 CPU Frequency: 2.0GHz
 GPU: ARM Mali-760MP2
 RAM / Storage: 2GB / 32GB
 Function: WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, OTG, Miracast, FM Radio
 WiFi: 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot
 GSM: band2, band3, band5, band8
 TDS: band34, band39
 WCDMA: band1, band5
 TDD: band38, band39, band40, band41
 FDD: band1, band3, band7
 Camera: 5MP back camera, 2MP front camera
 Battery: 10,000mAh
 Ports: TF Card Slot, SIM Card Slot, Micro USB Port, 3.5mm Headphone Jack
 Weight & Size: 610 g / 237 x 170 x 8.9 mm
Design
The Cube T9 isn’t exceptionally thin and light, measuring 8.9mm thick and weighing 610g, it is much thicker and heavier than its predecessor – the Cube Talk 9X, which measures at 7mm and weighs only 560g. This certainly doesn’t give the T9 an immediate appeal, if you're making comparisons on these grounds. The reason why the T9 is so thick and heavy is that Cube uses both die casting roll cage and metal anti-roll frame, which are designed to protect the internals of the tablets from collision and impact.
The screen sits in a relatively thin bezel, which can result in unintended selections when holding the tablet in portrait mode. But while you hold it in landscape mode, there is enough bezel to rest your fingers on. The 2MP front-facing camera is located above the display, along with a tiny light sensor to help auto-adjust the brightness of the display.
The edges of T9 are silver-colored, which looks unappealing on our black review sample. In portrait mode, the top edge is home to the 3.5mm headphone jack and a micro SD card slot. The power button, the volume rocker slot are located on the top of the right edge of the slate, while the SIM tray is located on the bottom of the right edge.
The side-facing speakers are located on the right end of the bottom edge, which is pretty smart design as the speaker gates won’t be easily blocked by your hands however you hold the tablet.
The stippled plastic rear, which looks exactly like the back of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S, does the T9 no great favors, either. Although Cube insists that this design is inspired by the surface of a golf ball, and improves the grip of the tablet, still, we are not impressed.
The 13MP camera and an LED flash is located on the upper left corner of the rear side.
Overall, the T9 lacks the premium appeal the Cube Talk 9X was once famous for.
Display
The 9.7-inch IPS LCD screen is the same 2,048-by-1,536 resolution with 264ppi as the iPad Air, we can’t say we are astonished with this amount of pixel offering anymore as we have already seen lots of tablets from China with 9.7-inch Retina displays by now, and there are also lots of tablets with much higher pixel density on the market at the moment.
Unfortunately, the quality of the T9’s display isn’t as amazing as Cube advertised. The contrast ratio doesn’t match it is on the super clear PLS display on my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and, with an explosion-proof film on top of the touchscreen, the display looks annoyingly grainy at times, especially when you are viewing a web page with white background color.
With that said, it is far from being a terrible display. Colors are a lot more relaxed than those seen on some of Samsung’s AMOLED devices, and viewing angles are also quite amazing.
The T9’s screen is fairly bright that we only need the brightness slider set at 30% or lower most of the time, the auto-brightness option works well too.
Sound
The side-facing stereo speakers are one area where the T9 under-delivers. They are quite loud, but the sound quality is disappointing, especially when compared to the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro or the iPad Air. This is a pity as it means the tablet isn't really up to delivering music and movies without the help from an external audio system.
System and apps
The Cube T9 runs stock Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS, with limited customizations made to the icons. Preinstalled applications are kept to the minimum as well.
App selection is the biggest reason to hesitate about the T9. It isn't bad by any means, and is no better or worse than any other Android tablets, with the Google Play Store's solid selection on board. It's just that when you compare it to the iPad's App Store, you'll see that the Play Store's tablet selection still has some catching up to do. Unlike those 7-inch tablets, which still works and looks perfectly fine running smartphone apps, The T9’s spacious 4:3 display can make some applications look distorted and unappealing.
Performance
Inside the Cube T9, there're a 1.7GHz, 64-bit MediaTek MT8752 octa-core processor and 2 full GB of RAM. Although it by no means the most cutting-edge design, it is still a very beefy set-up.
Benchmarks tell the story. The T9 scored 40,272 on the Antutu system benchmark and 3,401 on the Geekbench3 processor benchmark, as compared with around 30,000 and 2,117 for the Cube i6, and 34,810 and 2,296 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.
On the Vellamo HTML5 benchmark test, the tablet scored an impressive 2231, which is in the same class as the even the highest end of Android devices.
In the 3DMark Ice Storm graphics benchmark, the T9 scored 8,768 points, clearly no match for the MAXED OUT performance the Intel powered Cube i6 presented. This did tell the true story that the Mali-760MP2 GPU didn’t compare to the cutting-edge offerings such as the Qualcomm Adreno 330 or the Imagination PowerVR 6xxx series, but it was still a great improvement over the Mali-450MP4 GPU used in the last generation of MediaTek octa-core chipsets.
Tablets and phones that run stock Android often provide day-to-day performance that’s better than the devices with heavily customized interfaces. The slate performs like a champ most of the time -- as long as there are lot too many apps running in the background. There are some minor, intermittent pauses before the contents of menus pop up, but little-to-none of the very basic interface scroll lag we’ve seen in those entry-level tablets and smartphones. It does take a while to come out of standby at times, though, which can get annoying.
During mass auto-updates, updates would freeze mid-download like frozen apps mid-download. Even though it has a zippy octa-core CPU and 2GB of RAM, it is still easily overwhelmed when pushing its performance to maximum. But it is more of a problem of the multi-tasking enhanced Android operating system rather than a defect of the Cube T9.
Reading and browsing
The squarer 9.7-inch display is perfect size for browsing content-heavy webpages and reading E-magazines, and the capable MT8752 processor doesn’t disappoint. Loading graphic-intense web-pages happens fairly quickly, dragging and zooming the page itself feels as smooth as silk, There are little to none lags in turning pages of even the most gigantic PDF file.
Gaming
As long as we kept background apps to a minimum, gaming performance was fast and smooth. Large games like NFS 17 opened quickly and levels loaded within a few seconds. While playing Riptide, the tablet reacted quickly, making tight turns and sharp movements in real time.
Video Playback
A screen with 4:3 aspect ratio isn’t really ideal for video playback, as most video files come in widescreen, which result in a lot of wasted screen real estate when we play 1080P videos on the T9. Fortunately, with Cube’s rich experience in making MP4 players, the T9 has incredible video codec support.
Almost all media files with basic video codecs (i.e. DivX). MKV, AVI (XviD) and MP4 videos play smoothly through T9’s video player. You can change the zoom mode (100% or fit to screen with and without affecting the video's aspect ratio) and there's a pinch zoom too, in case you want to get close up on a specific part of the action.
If subtitles are available, the video player will automatically find and load them. You can also manually load subtitles, if the video and subtitle file names don't match.
Connectivity
The T9 features dual 4G support (FD-LTE & TD-LTE), which means you get up to 150Mbps of downlink and up to 50Mbps of uplink speeds. It also covers dual 3G (WCDMA & TD-SCDMA) and 4 bands of GSM.
It also features Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac support, with 2.4GHz and 5GHz band compatibility. Wi-Fi Direct and DLNA support are also available as well as GPS and FM Radio. Bluetooth 4.0 is available for local data transfer, too.
There is a micro SD card slot as well, on top of the 32GB of internal storage.
The T9 naturally supports USB-on-the-go, but you will need to buy an additional adapter for that. The tablet can work with USB storage, USB mice and keyboards. Of course, you can always hook up a Bluetooth mouse or keyboard to the slate without relying on the cable connection.
You can also mirror your tablet screen on the bigger HDTV via Wi-Fi Direct and the widely supported Miracast protocol - that would even allow you to play mobile games on the biggest screen in your living room.
Just like the T7, the T9 supports OTA firmware upgrade, you will receive the notification whenever an update is available.
Battery life
First and foremost, the T9 is a brilliant tablet for battery life with a very large 10,000mAh capacity inside, full stop.
Untouched, the device will last a really long time as it holds its charge extremely well. When you do use it, it doesn't jump off a cliff like a brainless lemming either. You'll get about 9 hours of screen time. This is an average, as it depends on how bright you set that super high-res screen. You'll get less if you ramp it up but even more at lower levels.
Either way, it's a great performer in this area and means the T9 is a good choice for those wanting to travel without their tablet dying on them half way through a flight or a car journey where the tablet is entertaining kids in the back.
In our standard cngadget battery test, where we play a 1080P video on loop with 30 percent brightness while having notifications for email turned on, the T9 lasted 9 hours and 5 minutes, which is almost on par with the longevity the Talk 9X could deliver. Neither tablet can come anywhere near the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, though, which gives you two more hours of screen use between charges.
Cameras
The T9 has two cameras, the norm for any high-quality tablet. It uses a 13-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera.
We think a tablet like this is much too big to be used as an everyday camera, but otherwise it offers pretty good shooting. There’s very little shutter lag, focusing is snappy and you get a few additional modes. There’s HDR, panorama, beauty face and object tracking.
While not up with the best smartphones in terms of image quality, they're much better than the tablet average. Here are a few samples:
The T9 also has an LED flash, which some tablets lack. The T9’s front camera isn’t too bad either – you don’t need more for standard video chat, although some phones are starting to use higher-resolution 5-megapixel front cameras for better selfies.
Conclusions
There is no doubt that T9 is one of Cube's best tablets yet, and, though it is not so stylish and record-breaking as its predecessor – the Cube Talk 9X, it's still a great slate with solid specs and excellent build quality.
Back in 2012 when Rockchip’s RK3066 dual-core A9 processor dominated the tablet industry in China, a few tablet makers already began to sell tablets with 9.7-inch retina display. The struggling performance and recurrent lags from those offerings lead to a generally negative impression of Chinese tablets with a high-resolution display. But powered by enhanced processors coming out in 2013 and 2014, high-res tablets are finally good.
With dozens of tablets released this year, Cube certainly hasn't made choosing a tablet easy. Is the T9 enough to make Talk 9X or i6 users to switch? Certainly not. However, unless you've already bought a tablet in 2014, the T9 will give you plenty of reasons to go for it and the beefy processor is just one of them.
If you like the T9’s specs but not the size and weight, you can also go smaller with the Cube T7, which has almost identical internal set-ups, aside from a smaller 7-inch screen and significantly smaller battery to fit into the tinier body.
The good
Solid build quality.
Amazing battery life.
Smooth performance delivered by the beefy processor and 2GB RAM.
32GB internal storage with Micro SD card support.
A nice rear-facing 13MP camera.
OTA upgrade.
The Bad
Not slim or light by today’s standards.
No HDMI on board.
The explosion-proof film on top of the touchscreen makes the display look annoyingly grainy.

I have mine for about a week now and all is working great..no screen issues at all and no inner film as some have reported and the screen just looks very clear and detailed..no graininess at all..i have not tried a sim card in it yet to try the phone part, but this is a real nice tablet and fast.
I have had mine for 2 week's now and it's been very good. Had a few dramas earlier with trying to upgrade firmware. The only real problem for me is the 5ghz WiFi band. It's really unreliable and keeps dropping out, the 2ghz band is reliable. Hopefully it's just software related and they fix it. Has anyone had the 4g signal working. I tried my mobile 4g sim and was only picking up 3g
Mine 5GHZ wifi is stable...
Maybe you should check your router?
Amazing Review
Thankyou for posting such an extensive review.. This seems to be a nice device to carry.. But I wonder about the explosion proof film. They could have done better I suppose.

It should work in the non pro variant, there aren't much differencies between both.
My Unboxing & Review (Italian Language)
I received My K4000 Pro from TOMTOP:

Review OUKITEL Pro K4000
Packaging, Content, Aesthetics:
The packaging is an orange rectangular carton that leaves not reveal anything about the type of smartphone, if not controlling on the back, which is based on the model and features, the package identical to the K4000 have seen before.
Box contents: Smartphone, 1 Power Adapter with USB jack Use 5V 1.5A White, 1 USB cable, a small instruction manual + warranty card and a cover of transparent silicone ..
- Smartphone External dimensions above average cinafonini 5 ", especially in the thickness; it measures 142 x 72 x 11.5mm for a little over weight 239g.
- Good quality construction, side frames of aluminum, the plastic back cover has an embossed simulated leather treatment, but the black version tends to retain fingerprints.
- On the left side we find the power button, while the right side is the volume rocker.
- On the upper side we find the audio jack and micro USB socket; on the inner side of the single microphone.
- In the back top center we find the camera of 8 megapixel f / 2.2 protruding Omnivision, then, slightly below the flash and lower the speaker.
- On the front we find at the top the capsule headset, 2Mpixel camera f / 2.8 (Omnivision) and the brightness / proximity sensors.
- The soft touch buttons are external to the screen and NOT are backlit; in this Pro K4000 then they have a red silkscreen really very visible on black.
- External Glass 2.5D with pre-applied film even if the characteristics of the glass make that the same do not protect the entire perimeter.
- Display brightness and pretty good viewing angles; HD IPS LCD screen that gives neutral colors and well-balanced, good sharpness for the category, good white balance but is not available on Miravision menu to the color balance, and white ..
- Touch sensitive and equipped with multi-touch 5-touch, quick writing and with swipe feature that you type with two fingers (used SwiftKey keyboard); unlike other low cost smartphone, typing seems much better and smoothly ..
- Two slots Mini + Micro Sim: 4G with 1,3,7,20 37,38,39,40 and bands, 850/900/1900/2100 3G 2G 850/900/1800/1900
- Presence MicroSD slot with head capacity up to 64Gb.
- Removable battery of 4600mAh declared that prove these also to the test with ammeter and that cover at least two intense days with no problem; weight about 86g.
- Android 5.1 stock of February 2016
- Open app and switching between apps discreet .. Chrome browser which is very good in navigation with decent rendering speed.
- Excellent management of internal rom 16Gb which are available in a partition to 12.3Gb for apps and data.
- Excellent management 2Gb ram from stock rom .. around 1.6GB of RAM left over after loading some apps into memory at startup.
connectivity:
WiFi b / g / n with no problem, stable coupling, good higher power to other entry level tested.
BT 4 tested pairing with headsets and other smartphones without problems
OTG: Properly functioning
GPS: discreet, outside has cold fixato in less than 20 seconds, 8 satellites, with an accuracy of 4 meters; despite not having Glonass compatibility, it seemed more stable than other entry level.
camera:
- Main camera Omnivision OV8858 f / 2 8Mpixel (13 Interpolated) producing discrete shots in daylight; discrete focus; camera interface Stock Mediatek. The flash is not very powerful and not suitable to cover situations of scenes in the dark, but with close subjects in emergency help; the photo module held at high ISO is not good, even after the 400 ISO the details begin to wane.
- Sufficient video performance with up files HD (1280x720) with 3GP / H264
- Second Camera for Selfies 2Mpixel f / 2.8 OV9670 (interpolated 5Mpixel), mediocre shots and videos.
Bench:
Antutu 6 just over 23000 punti..risultato in line with other MT6753P.
Geekbench 3 with 1299 points in the multi-core test and 468 in the single core test.
Geekbench Battery Test (over 18h and 32 'screen time and again on the 14% remaining battery life; in practice allows at least 8/9 of the screen on the full day of use with active data traffic.
Audio:
Decent sound quality, good the speaker volume and earbud (even slightly too high in this case), the other party has no problem and feel the item is free from noise and interference
the rear speaker position that unfortunately suffers from sound attenuation if we usually place the smartphone on the table.
Good vibration and sound with headphones.
conclusions:
PRO:
- About 100 € Price for a terminal with low range but with exceptional characteristics of battery.
- Battery of 4600mAh which will allow you up to two days of intense use and also 5 days of milder use.
- HD Display protected by glass extremely resistant tempered;
emblematic for the glass the next video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGE-5s3b5ec
- Glass rounded 2.5D showing good brightness, color and display viewing angle.
- Good assembly and finishing of the side frame.
- Dual Sim (Mini + Micro Sim) 4G with support to all Italian and Slot SD bands (possibility of using the SD app install)
- OTG supported.
- 2Gb Ram and 16GB Rom used optimally by Android 5.1 stock: 1.6GB of RAM and 12GB of free boot ROM available in single partition for app / data / music / download.
- Multitasting and management app with white and black lists for background apps and app permissions.
- Gestures screen off and double tap to wake up.
- Silicone Cover traparente well made.
AGAINST:
- Heavy, more than 239g of a 5 "will also feel and cumbersome for the high thickness (more than 11.5mm that if we add the cover become more than 13mm)
- Batteries that although high capacity could be better used by the software, showing some battery drain too.
- Pretty reflective screen and film applied that holds the footprints.
- Absence of the menu aims vision for color calibration and white balance.
- Soft touch backlit keys and NOT NO notification LED.
- Multi-tasking with the "row of app" to scroll to Flyme, it is not very accessible to switch to an app in the open memory long ago.
-Location Speaker on a back side which limits the volume if placed on a flat surface.
-Volume Speaker sometimes excessive and that makes scratchy loudspeaker.
OK, no movement on this ROM from Feb?, it's now April.

If this is the case, and it IS a software issue and not a hardware limitation, THL has issued an update for the phone.

Report back as to the results of the update.
I'll try

Whoops,,,,,wrong post for the phone, I meant to post this on a different thread.....pay no attention to my post please.
Any updates? I was really excited about this..
anyone can tell how the rom performs ? All Hardware works ? I wanna try on k4000 (non pro), but first need some review info before running into hell
some progress?
I bought the oukitel 4000 pro for mothersday for my mom . and iam quite suprized to see that all is working fine without bugs . Even the 4g works perfect , Only thing is they have anounced that it would get marshmellow but havent seen that yet . Big advantage is the almost vanilla android .That makes it for older people eazier to use . It runs smooth and she does days before charging .The only thing i find that its quite heavy .But thats offcourse the battery .For a $89 its worth every penny . My mom is very fond of it .And offcourse the first days when it arrived i tried it out and i must say .Its real value for what it cost . Dont expect a samsung S7 . But it has no bugs runs smooth days with a battery .If they regular give it updates (what i dont exprect) it would be a real bargain .
Until now still not get any news about this rom. LOL
We have to live with stock rom (not bad) for now.
There is a ported CM 12.1 from K6000 made for K4000 on :
