Today i noticed a tap and hold delay option in my tab 2(p3100).
It is located in
settings-> accessibility->tap and hold delay(last option).
Does anyone know what is it???
I think it is time of pressing to provoke an action like right click menu etc as it is present in accessibility options and some people with disabilities need more time or less time for long press to register and for their device to understand long touch or press so they adjust timing of long press to their liking

On my N1 a long press of the menu button brought up the keyboard regardless of what app you were in. This is especially helpful in apps that assume you have a physical keyboard (e.g. androidVNC). With my Captivate holding the menu button brings up the Google quick search bar which I could care less about.
Is it possible to edit/change this function?
We can't get a stock Android ROM for this thing soon enough!
i was actually thinking about the same thing too.
Let me remind you, long press on the menu button is exactly the same function as short press on the search button, so we really need a "mod" that'll change the duplication function.
This would be really great. Does anyone have any ideas?

They have a thread going over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=706426 about the touch keys and modifying them. It looks like the long key press stuff is in the kernel. Not much we can do at the moment.
Solution found,see this:

I have used this app before. . And its a wonderfull addon to the ui... But wen u double press the home button, you get the voice talk... And there is no search button for the galaxy note.. Has anyone successfully made it to run on the galaxy note..? If so how
Just downloaded this app, quite useful. WRT your question, I went into the voice app when you double tap the home button, then settings and disabled the option to launch when double tap home key. Now on one press of the home button brings up the power strip and then a second press takes me to my home screen.
Hope that helps

Thanx.. I didnt know that you could disable the double tap to open voice app.. I installed it and set it.. Wen i tap it once it opens the powerstrip and i have to tap again to go to the home screen.. Isnt their any setting on it so as to double tap to directly go to home without waiting for powerstrip to appear on your first click??
I've been a Power Strip user for quite a long time but then I switched to Wave Launcher. Does the same job but activating it is less troublesome for me (swipe up from the very bottom of the screen). Plus it looks better in my opinion.
search? press and hold the left soft button.

How do u set it up to use powerstrip?? Did u mean to long press the menu button?? I cant make it to work... How did u set it up?
Yup, long press (well, not that much, it appear really quickly). Btw I use launcher pro, but I don't think it's a feature of it (I mean, will probably do the same whit touchwizz or else).
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if there was a way to enable double click home to google now.
I know I can set it to long press menu to google now but it would be nice to just double click the home button.
Thanks for the help!
Settings - system - hardware keys - enable custom action - set long press home button to search assistant. Then I set long press menu key to the recent apps tasker cuz it was previously empty. This gives long press home key to Google Now and menu long press to tasker. It may be the closest thing you'll find.

Hello everyone. I have searched and read and can't find either of these options. So if I've missed something my apologies in advance.
I know the phone has the option in settings under display to use a long press of the recents button to select menu. Does anyone know of a way to swap that? IE tap for menu and long press for recents?

in for this too... cant get used to only 3 hw keys... since recents only has a tap function, im wondering how to map the longpress or double tap to open the MENU for an app.
Settings> Display. Check "Use Long Press for Menu".

I don't think, at the moment, we will have that option. I also hate long-press for menu since I never now how long to press it until it registers as "Menu". It would be nice for the menu to just pop up when as you are holding down the Recent Apps button, kind of like how holding down Home will show the "slide up for Google Now" ring.

Long press is something longer than a simple tap. If you enable long press as Shalal explained in another post, you can just hold the recent button for a moment & the menu pops up. Nothing particularly dramatic about it.

Well I'm just saying that I would like the Action Overflow options (if applicable) to automatically display when the button has been held down long enough, rather than requiring you to lift your finger.
Still, it would be preferable to have HTC's implementation, since, as it is, it's faster to just tap the Action Overflow button than to long-press.
Is there recent option for the hardware button. Couldn't find it. Trying to multitask

By default, you can long press home.
You can go into Settings > Buttons and remap the buttons. I personally remapped Menu to Recent apps.

Sure if you want to, its called screen off. Or just enable Status Bar Double Tap to Sleep.
