If you don't have service after flashing a Jelly Bean ROM or Justin's GAPPS follow these simple instructions.
1. Go to the dialer and press *#*#4636#*#*
2. Click on "Phone Information"
3. You should notice almost towards the bottom radio settings, Make sure the radio is on and change the settings from WCDMA to GSM (auto)
4. Exit out of the screen by pressing the back button
5. Reset the phone and you will have service.
If your phone keeps reverting to WCDMA follow these directions
1. Use GTG's Ultimate Unbrick here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
2. When you are reverted to stock rom, use Super 1 Click to root. which can be found here http://shortfuse.org/ Restart phone.
3. Follow these instructions to get 3e then clockwork Recovery on your phone here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107881 PM me if you need Root Explorer APK
4. Boot into recovery. FULL WIPE DATA DALVIK EVERYTHING
5. Flash ICS Rom of your choice. I recommend Paranoid Android which you can find here. http://d-h.st/NMp don't bother with GAPPS for now
6. Boot up android and reboot into recovery FULL WIPE DATA DALVIK EVERYTHING
7. Flash the Jelly Bean ROM of your choice. I recommend Unofficial CM10 8/31 - Butter - MTD which can be found here http://d-h.st/MZ9 Don't bother with Kernel or GAPPS for now
8. If you have a boot loop that's normal, pull out the battery, re flash then reboot into android
9. Once the device is booted, make sure you have a strong signal and can make phone calls. THEN reboot into recovery
10. Flash OC Kernel and GAPPS of your choice. MAKE SURE to use this kernel http://d-h.st/mcN if you used Unofficial CM10 8/31 - Butter - MTD. I recommend Justin's GAPPS which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797292
11. Reboot and viola! You should have service for ever and ever.
This no service problem is caused by your IMEI getting wiped when you flash straight from stock to jelly bean.

Apologies if this is a dupe, but I've seen this question a lot and didn't see a thread with the answer. Here is how you disable the ongoing notification when WiFi is off on the Verizon Galaxy S III.
Source: http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/0...g-wifi-notification-on-the-verizon-galaxy-s3/
All credit goes to the above source, just figured people would search for it here. Go above for images that go along with these instructions.
Instructions:
*You have to be rooted in order to do this.
1. Download an SQL editor from the Play store and open it. SQLite Editor is an option.
2. Find Setting storage>settings.db>secure:
3. Locate line 86 “wifi_networks_available_notification_on” in the editor and long press on that record.
4. Choose “Edit Record” and change the value to 0 (zero).
5. Save the record, back out and restart your phone. Enjoy not having a WiFi notification any longer.

Ok, I'm going to ask at the risk of getting my noob butt kicked across the forum floor. Why is this notification showing such a big deal? Does it drain battery or do people just want it gone to reduce clutter?
Hello. I recently purchased a SIII from eBay and got it activated today. The first time they booted it up at the Verizon store I noticed what I thought was an unlock icon towards the bottom of the screen (which I am no longer seeing).
Once the phone was activated it performed a system update to the latest OS release. Now that I have got the phone home it keeps randomly rebooting and then it will get stuck in a boot loop. I pull the battery, it will boot as normal, and then it will randomly reboot again. I have performed a factory reset/data wipe but that did not help.
I did search a bit on here but didn't see anything similar to what I'm experiencing. Any ideas on what my issue is? Thanks in advance for your help.

Have to agree. Sure there might be a couple people that have had problems, but the overwhelming majority of people are quite pleased with their handsets.
Sounds like the phone was rooted. If it had a custom rom and you took the ota verizon update, that could cause problems.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I followed step #6 from the link you provided and the phone has been up for over an hour without rebooting. So far so good!
Well I spoke to soon. It just rebooted again. I'm starting to think that it must be hardware issue. I guess I should go back to the seller to see if they'll take the phone back..... :-/

When you say "loaded" are you just flashing a stock ROM or did you Odin back to stock?

I did the ODIN back to stock (using the ROM that was in step #6 of the above link). After that booted the phone up and it indicated there was an OTA available. I downloaded that (about 30 Mb); performed the update; and then the phone seemed to start the random reboots more frequently.

I didn't mean that everybody has problems when I said a lot and maybe it isn't "a lot" but I have seen numerous people posting on here about there problems whether its random reboots or screen flashing/flickering or w/e it may be and not just here I know a few people with this phone (my wife, father, brother, mother in law, and myself.) And I have had 2 problems with this phone, random reboots and WiFi never wants to connect and my wife has the sim card issue, my dads phone has problems with screen and WiFi, idk what the deal is. That's 3 phones out of 5 that has problems and idk if the sim card issue even counts but still.
I'm not saying this is a bad phone or anything, other than these issues it has been a great phone the best phone I have ever owned.

Hi Wily5150, you lost your IMEI and I assume you have no backups of it. The process to restore it is somewhat complicated but not impossible. I see you have already confirmed that your IMEI is set to 0, but can you please also tell me what your ERI is set to? It is listed in the same screen that your IMEI is listed in (Settings > About Phone > Status).
You will need to Odin back to a stock, rooted ROM called Root66 first. Are you familiar with flashing through Odin? There is a FAQ available in this thread that discusses returning to stock through Odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
The Root66 Odin file is available from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204
This is the image you will be flashing through Odin. Make sure you flash this in the "pda" section in Odin (flashing it in any other section will brick your phone).
You will then need to perform a series of steps outlined in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442
I have successfully helped several people restore their lost IMEI's, please let me know if you have any questions.
You're right, I have no backups of my imei. I did a factory reset and I now have internet connection, and I can send texts. I don't have access to the play store though, I'm asuming the imei at 0 has something to do with that? I'm in the process of doing what you sugested to do, And, yes I have used odin before. Thanks for your help. I will let you know how it went. So, when I root with the stock image, this will replace the imei? And once that is done I'm asuming I need to back up my new imei? How do I do that?
The eri is set to none
What software is he refering to?
Open the software and under comports select the comport number you found your device on then click connect
I have to device manager open, but I have no idea what software amoamare talking about? Can someone please help me here? Thanks
Never mind I got it
Thanks for all your help guys. My phone is fixed. I have everything, IMEI, and everything else. Now I have to back it up. All you guys here are the bomb, super helpful. Thanks again.

Well I think I might be screwed... Tried resetting with ODIN like this said http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030 and now I can't actually boot - the phone tells me that I have non-verizon software installed and that I should just take it into a verizon store
If anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it. I'd rather not have to go deal with those goons.
Thanks!

You were never bricked in the first place, idk why you followed that thread.
Perform Section 5 to Odin back to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
Then root again.

Well I just Odin'd back to stock, re-rooted and flashed synergy. Again, no texting or calling ability, yet I still have data. I'm outdoors in the middle of the city, so there's no reason it shouldn't be working.. I decided to call Verizon as well just to see, and they can't figure out what's going on either. The SIM card shouldn't be bad if I'm getting full 4G, right? Maybe I'll run down and pick up a new one to try.

Now that you're re-rooted, do the steps I linked to in my initial reply that are in the second post of CM10.1 thread. See if that helps. You don't need a new sim, it's a known issue with CM10.1.

Hello,
I just received a "pre-owned" phone from Verizon.
After rooting and testing out some roms I realized I can't make calls or text anymore. Mobile network still works.
I was on a nightly build of CM and I thought it might be a bug in the build so I switched to stable build.
After that, I am now able use text messaging and mobile network, but still no phone calls. I've gone back and forth between stable and nightly and I've tried other roms too, still no calls.
After doing some research, I realized that my MEID=000000000 (more or less), and my IMEI=0.
Could that be it? If that was the case, should texting and mobile network not work?
I will try and use odin to go back to stock, but will that repair my MEID/IMEI?
Thanks,
Adrian

You didn't backup your imei by chance did you? You can manually inject your imei with qpst (Google it for a YouTube video) or follow directions in this thread to reprovision your phone. You should also follow the link on the bottom of that thread to fix your eri if you use qpst.

You aren't screwed, it's just a hassle to get everything back. Backing up your imei fixes this issue in like 5 seconds.
Just read through what I gave you and you'll get it back.

Thanks again for helping me out.
I'm downloading the stock odin image (takes forever) and after I flash it I'll try dialing the *2767*3855#.
If that doesn't work though, in that thread you sent me, there's a link to here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44871571&postcount=3&nocache=1&z=1185709806159138
Is this the method I should use? If so, the poster gets a little hard to understand (I can't figure out what the forbidden program is), could you elaborate?
If I could get this to work I'll make this into a sweet guide for anyone else in this position.

The labyrinth of link in the forums brought me here:
[[[[http]]]] ://adbtoolkit [[[[dot]]]] com/misc/device/samsung/galaxys3/sch-i535/#.UnyEufk_smk
(sorry, I couldn't post an outside link)
There's a file called: "Samsung_MEID_RepairV3.5.rar".. what is that? is that what I've been looking for?

I never actually looked through what he posted, but I'm confused as well. You're going to have to dig around to find that. I think he's talking about qpst though.

Maybe, it sounds like it, keep reading and see if you can figure out what it's used for.
