Another custom ROM on it's way. - Asus Transformer TF700

Check out this post from the XDA portal.

It's about a custom ROM calles AffinitySERIES.
And they say that they plan to release a build for the Infinity.
Woohoo some more love for our beast.

Are you volunteering to try it out first?

The Affinity guys are legit. I have a vzw gnex and am actually about to install their build on it, which reviews are calling one of the stablest and fastest roms on the gnex right now.....even in first build form. I hear they are really professionals at what they do. I would bite first

Sweet, i know its just a matter of time till we get more devs and options for our infinitys

Not with the TF700. I'm to afraid of bricking that bastard.
I hate how the Asus tablets work when it comes to flashing etc.
With a Nexus no problem.

I am the one on the team that will be working on the porting, like I said so far I have JB booting nicely, Wifi, camera works, I really just need to fix audio and BT, but TF700 dev is on the backburner since we want to complete features before we start porting to TF700.

It looks like it's quite easy to port from the TF300 to the TF700 and maybe even from the TF201.

Probably something to ask in the development forum. I think one of the managers of CyanogenMod actually got one of these things and they're planning on fully supporting it.

No problems there . It is just annoying how upset some people get over these things. I will still mess with it. I am starting with compiling for my phone since I don't have to unlock it and know the hardware is working.
So back to the actual topic. Would it be easiest to base cm10 off of the one for the tf201 and use the kernel from asus for the tf700? Or would that not work?

That's my plan. We will have to mess around with the nvidia prop files to see what works best. Unfortunately, I can't unlock my TF700 atm due to the bug that many others are experiencing. So, I can't do much until that is fixed.

Too bad, sorry for that .I can't wait to see a CM on the Infinity and this damn bug or whatever it is is keeping us from have it.I've seen a lot of guys in the TF300T forum having the same issue (my wife's tf300t unlocked just fine and hope my tf700 will do it too) and some said that doing a factory restor and starting the tablet without any account did the trick, others said that doesn't worked for them and who tried to contact Asus for this got this answer " they do not support any issues that customers are having with the unlock tool" .Sandly seems that the only way for now is to ask a replacement because the device doesn't receive OTA updates (also it seems that who is affected by the bootloader unlock also doesn't receive OTAs) and hope you will get a new one that works.

no cm9?

i don't mean to rush the CM team, but is there any word of anyone working on a port for this device?

I don't think there is any news regarding the JB update for the tf700. To me, this is actually a good news, because ASUS can take time to ensure that the update works properly. After reading all the complaints after the JB update for the tf300 (it breaks so many things on the tf300), I can only thank God for not having this kind of early update on my tf700. For now, I am very happy with ICS and don't mind waiting, especially when my tf700 is already very good.

Are any developers working on KitKat 4.4 for the tf300t?

Just wondering how soon we might see ROMs running KitKat for my tf300t. I'm hoping the performance enhancements in KitKat will be well suited to my sluggish tf300t. Plus I guess there's no chance of Asus releasing it officially. Any one heard about developers working on it.

Dude, read the TOS and rules for the forums. It's uncourteous and disrespectful to ask for any sort of ETA or time frame for any development. Developing is a part-time activity for most people doing it so they do it on their spare time. If you want to speed things up then learn a bit of coding and get involved in development.

You are right about the rules.. But he wasn't questioning a known developer on an even remotely real project. Saying "I'm thinking of building a Kit Kat rom" is WAY different from having a thread with rom in development. This was a far more general question regarding when people think we might see 4.4.
You could have said the same thing in a helpful, less arrogant manner. Without Noobs, there is no XDA. Help them. Don't insult them.

OK I'm very sorry I take your point, I mean I have no idea how to build a rom and depend entirely on the developers to deliver these amazing rom for us all to enjoy. I didn't realise I was breaking the rules its just the way he said it made it sound like to him it was an easy thing.
Must confess reading through posts on XDA people seem very quick to let rip at people rather than explain things. I did allot of reading before posting my comments. Anyway Thanx all for your input. I've decide to sit back and wait for Google to release the OTA update so I can enjoy it the way they intended before I flash a rom. Cheers guys.

I am working on OmniROM for the TF300T. I had a bit of a sitback because i soft bricked my TF300T, but i hope to be fully back this weekend. I got Android 4.4 to complete the build process and got an update zip. But due to my tablet problem i was not able to test it yet.
I do not think it will boot yet, because i think i still have to add some changs to the init scripts and hopefully the proprietary files will work out of the box.
To answer your question: YES there are devs working on KitKat for the TF300T.
But do not ask for any ETA because no one can give you one.

Duuuuuuuude! Don't get your panties in a bunch. Like most people who joined, he probably barely skimmed the TOS and rules for the forums. Like MOST people, he probably has a life. Tell me you always RTFM, and I will tell you how truly sad that is. I don't think most devs would even be phased if the occasional person asked about ETA. If anything, it gives a dev some perspective about the amount of people that benefit from his/her work. So step off your constable podium and give the guy a break.
Btw, it's discourteous not "uncourteous." You see that red squiggly line underneath the word. It means you needs to be spell gooder.
