I'm currently running a SynergyROM r64 nand and my lte doesn't seem to work. I checked my IMEI in phone info -> stats and it's the same as before I flashed CM10 beta 9/3 build. Could flashing CM10 have corrupted my IMEI? Before I flashed, I entered su reboot nvbackup from andriod terminal to backup my IMEI so idk if that's the problem or not. I also have a Qualcomm backup, but I shouldn't need to restore it if I already have my IMEI saved correct? Or should I just Odin back to stock?

If his IMEI is intact, then there's no reason to restore an IMEI backup or anything. Toying with it could have negative consequences. Since it seems like phone info isn't working, flash to stock through ODIN. You can make a backup prior if you want. If that doesn't work, reprovision your phone via *2767*3855# . That will wipe your entire internal SD so back up anything you want.

Thank you sir! Reprovisioning did the trick. Would it be possible to use this with SynergyROM or CleanRom, or is this method strictly stock? I got my 4G lte back by dialing *2767*3885# from root66 stock touch wiz.

You shouldn't have to do it again unless you have problems. Just flashing a Rom will not do it unless something goes wrong. It should work on clean because that is a stock Rom, I have not tested it though nor have I read where anyone else has. Good luck!

It depends. Some of the ROMS cut out stuff that makes the number not work properly. I only know it works for sure on stock, and is unlikely to work on CM, but maybe other TW roms will allow it to work also.
Sometimes you have to put a # dialing command into your contact list and it will work from there.

I was running Paranoid android for a while and all was fine. Phone started glitching , so I did a reinstall. Thats when my mobile service went out. Here what I did.
1. Noticed IMEI was B00000, so i re-copied my backup and IMEI fixed. Still no network.
2. I reflashed a new VZW modem and still no network.
3. Checked out phone info, and it shows no service. Phone Info shows corrected IMEI, network type as LTE/CDMA. But says "searching for service"
4. I went ahead and unlocked, booted in to CWM 6.0.1.0 and installed CM10 and Gapps. All loaded fine, but still no network.
Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Try flashing to stock with odin. Once you're back to stock dial:
*2767*3855# (which will wipe EVERYTHING on your internal SD and set your phone back to factory restore)

Yup try that, sounds like you didn't reprovision it after restoring your backup
So I reloaded stock everything, locked back up the bootloader, loaded the original modem and took it back to verizon. They popped in a new sim which restored data, but the IMEI still read at 0. Data and calls worked, even got the 4g icon. They said it was fine that it read zero and that it was just a network issue. The look on my face was "wtf?"

You can try this. When you said you backed up did you back up with qpst?

No problem. Glad it's helping some people. I had a roaming/no data issue when I flashed a CM10 nightly and that fixed it for me too, so hopefully more people will realize it's a possible fix for those sorts of problems (assuming they still have their IMEI)
Trying to help a friend who lost his IMEI (showed as 0), I restored it with the QPST method successfully. All the numbers are there and the IMEI is correct, but it still doesn't have data. I tried calling the number in the older efs backup thread to reprovision, and it didn't seem to do anything, but while I was messing around with it the icon popped up and I had one bar of 4G, but it disappeared after a few seconds. I'm out of ideas and I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

If on stock (root66 sounds) dial: *2767*3855#
Back up anything you may want on the internal storage before doing so. Should fix it if it's fixable.
This ^^^^.
I had lost mine also and followed the same instructions, got it all back, but no data return. You need to reprovision your phone by following the key sequence. I think you need to be stock to do it too (could be wrong). After doing that, all my stuff returned to 100% fully functional.
You definitely need to be on stock for it, though? What's it do specifically? I never outright lost my IMEI, but I did have a problem where data would intermittently cut out and it didn't display a phone number in the system info.
After a wipe and install it seemed to be okay, but now I'm without data. Phone number and all the other numbers are there, though. If I dialed that on CM10, what could I expect?

Hmm if that doesn't work I'm not sure what else there is. Maybe a new SIM or phone, all I can think of
a new sim is needed, or you just have a data-bricked phone if that wont work... sorry bud
I'm not sure what it's doing, but I don't think it's unrecoverable. If I leave it for a while, when I unlock it I'll have a bit of 4G signal, then it disappears after a few seconds. I was able to use the browser while it had signal, but when I try to make a call it says "Mobile network unavailable." I did receive a few texts, I'll test sending them. Under Settings>About device>Status, all the numbers are there and everything looks normal except these:
Network - Searching for Service
Mobile network type - Unknown:0
Service state - Out of service
Mobile network state - Disconnected
Thanks for the help so far.

On mine, I restored to the Nandroid backup I made of the stock rom before switching and dialed the number mentioned before. That brought it back to out-of-the-box stock. Set it up, tested data, rooted, unlocked bootloader, installed CM10, tested data, restored apps, tested data, made another Nandroid backup, restored system apps and preferences, and everything's fine now.
My problem was really similar to that one, too. It started when the phone wasn't coming on when I pressed the home or power buttons, and after a battery pull it showed the phone number as "Unknown." A wipe and reinstall of CM10 showed all the correct numbers in the right places and seemed to fix it all, but data was back out in time. That was how it was every time I reinstalled that way; it'd work for a bit, then stop until I reinstalled again. Restoring my IMEI backup as a "just in case" hadn't helped either. Getting everything right again was arduous, but worth it.
Alright my dad has got a similar problem. He lost his IMEI before, we managed to get it restored and data working and all that good stuff. Well today he had to fly to Denver and put the phone into airplane mode, well when he came out of airplane mode it was stuck on roaming mode, and network is "Unknown" his IMEI, phone number, and all those numbers are correct but hes still stuck in roaming. We tried pulling the sim card, and going back to a root66 backup and then reprovisioning the phone. Any other ideas? Should he go back to complete 100% unrooted stock and then reprovision? Any help would be great
I've had the problem come back for me, so disregard my earlier post. I'm back on stock now with no data issues so far, so I'm going to sit on that for a bit to see if the problem is definitely with CM. It's been gradual every time I've fixed it; last time I lost LTE before 3G.

Restored a Nandroid. LTE isn't working though, so I may dial *2767*3855# to go back to full stock and see if that fixes it. Currently 3G is still okay.
A question...
Those losing their IMEI numbers... Is this happening on the locked bootloader? Unlocked bootloader? Both?
I've been digging through the forums trying to ferret out a pattern, but it's not presenting itself to me. Maybe someone else has seen the pattern?
I recently flashed from clean rom to paranoid and lost my imei. After doing some researech was able to get both imei and eri restored. I used a method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1867442 but still unable to recieve calls and text 4g is fine.
service state in service
roaming not roaming
mobile net work state connected
my phone number is correct
min number is a number i dont reconize 7722167376
eri version 5
imei number is correct from the back of my phone
I am thinking I need to flash back to stock in order to make that phone call to activate my phone but i want to do this as a last resort. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I hope I may have missed something in the hidden settings when i used *#22745927 and **22745927. Can someone tell me what my settings should be and thank you again.

never midf was able to get it working flashed a rooted stock ics rom. Now im flashing back to clean rom hope I can just do a restore and everything will be back to normal. No more aokp roms for me.
You need to back up your imie now that you're fixed before flashing anything. You can lose it no matter what you flash.

Okay, I had upgraded to 10.1 Aries and it was working fine and I tried changing some things with UOT kitchen and I got a "no service" problem. I have tried reinstalling from stock a couple of times but it doesn't make any difference. tried flashing a different modem and that didn't work either. The phone boots up and wi-fi works, but not the phone or data. Tried flashing an efs restore file and that didn't work either. Bill's paid for tmobile. I tried restoring from a nandroid backup and there is no change. IMEI is all zeros IMEI SV is 02 mobile network state is disconnected.

Have you upgraded from a GB ROM to an Team Acid ICS ROM? Their upgrade script automatically backs up you efs files.
Try extracting the tar file from the backup and taking the contents and stick it in the efs folder. That worked for me once :/ there is also a script Team Acid posted per my request somewhere in the Stupid Questions Thread.

Flash back to stock then flash aries release 3. Next time u get the no connection turn off wifi and just wait longer. Sometimes it just takes a bit after boot. Reflashing the modem (make sure you are flashing fb padded modem). That should do it. I started reflashing a modem after aries every time then realized i just had to wait an extra 20 seconds after booting up. Release 3 pretty good with this

I have the same issue. Had been running Aries beanstalk since it came out, switched to dao's pacman and after a couple days it seems the radio chip quit or something. Tried different modems, restoring nandroid, flashed back to stock, went and got a new Sim card. Nada. So... Yeah I had to pay 5 bucks for a new phone lol

After doing more testing.. Kb5 and kc1 dont flash... You need to flash kd1 and up and make sure they are padded.

And if u do install aries then flash kc1 by mistake it will say baseband unknown imei unknown.. But you dont have to do one click.. Just flash padded kd1 ki1 lb6 anything besides kb5 and kc1. I think it has to do with byte size of modem file.

The filename should be efs-backup.tar and it could also have numbers in the backup name

I tried restoring from some other efs backup but I'll look around and see if there is any more backups. I have the sd card saved on my hard disk as well. There should be several backups. Somehow, though, I don't think its the imei or 10.1 is storing the IMEI in a different place or folder. This is too bad because the Aries version of 10.1 is really nice.
I pretty much have the same problem. After upgrading to 10.1 I can't get any reception even though I tried flashing stock and padded modems on 10.1.
i found several efs backups in the backup folder, but expanding them and replacing the efs folder on my phone makes no difference at all, IMEI is still 00000000 ..... unless 10.1 uses an efs folder in a different location that is. This is acting like there is a second backup location for the phone information that,if you don't delete it or overwrite it, restores the bad efs informaiton.

Hello,
So I decided to try out CM 12.1 on my S968C phone. I then reverted back to the original firmware through a TWRP recovery backup. The problem is that I now do not have any service. In the About Phone settings the IMEI number is correct, but both the phone number and network type are unknown.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?
The only thing that I can think of is that CM might have flashed a custom modem firmware that was not restored.by the backup (this is just a wild guess).
Is there any way that this can be fixed?
Thanks!

As long as you have that TWRP backup on the external SD card, you will need to do a factory reset. Go to Settings... Backup & Reset... then do a Factory data reset. This has worked for me and a few others in the past. It will wipe your phone to where you will need to set it up again. You should now have service, so reboot into TWRP and restore your backup. That way you won't have to go thru installing all your apps again - they will be in your backup.
Ok, thanks!
I'll try this.
