[Q] Query regarding LighteningZap - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have installed Lightening Zap tweak v5A and I found that the zip file I downloaded has "init.d" folder with 13-14 files, but my phone doesnot have that folder after installing the tweak. Is is normal? I confirm having "init.d" folder with 3 files before installing and installing the tweak did take almost half hour with everything went normal without any error.
I am using Optimus One P500.
Is this normal?
Thank you.

[Q] problem installing a modded rom

I am having hard time to install a ROM after I modded it a bit.
The ROM itself had been installed already and works perfectly.
I was trying to change a few things like icons, bootanimation, default launcher and other stuff but the phone keep giving me an error and fail to install the file.
my phone is HTC HD2 t-mobile version, the ROM is android 2.3.4 with CM7, I am installing ROMs using MAGLDR 1.13 + clk 3.1.0.1.
I modified the zip file using 2 methods - both led to the error
1. unpack the zip file, replace the files, repack the folders back together into zip
2. swapping the files without extracting the folders out of the zip file
in both cases I used winrar (my computer runs 64bit win7).
am I missing something?
any help will be much appreciated
This is strange... I basically use the same method to mod minor stuff (like icons)... And it works for me without problems.
Are you sure your repackaged file has the same structure? Maybe unpack both original package and your modified one and compare folders and files using WinDiff or something?
I ran a check with "Beyond Compare 3" and it appeared to be the same except the files I've replaced.
What archiving software are you using?
There is no need to sign the zip or anything like it, right?
I'm using Total Commander which has zip functionality built-in.
No, I don't need to sign anything either (although I don't know, maybe it requires setting development options in android's settings).

[Q] How to add custom APK files to a zip ROM?

Hi all,
I'm trying to add APK files to custom rom (my last try was Pyramid3D v7.3.0 ROM).
In each ROM file (ZIP file), I noticed APK files were installed in two folders:
data\app: which, as far as I understand, contains applications which can be unistalled after flashing
system\app: for applications which cannot be deleted after flashing (except using ADB commands or tools such as Titanium Backup)
I tried both to add my apk files to each of those folders using WinRAR without unzipping the ROM (simply using Drag N Drop). Then flashed (with signature verification disable), but among all APK files I put, only one is successfully installed (french apk file called "Page Jaune").
Of course, I can install remaining APK files after flashing but I really don't understand why some are installed and some not...
Any idea?

[Q] HELP! How do I sign an .apk file?

Here's the deal...I downloaded youtube v2.4.4 from here. I opened it in 7zip and extracted the res folder so I could re-theme it. I made my changes then put the res folder back into the original apk. Now this is where the problem occurs. I can't for the life of me figure out how to re-sign the .apk! I have tried every single apk-signer out there to no avail. I have put it in apkManager then decompiled it optimized PNGs recompiled then signed then zipaligned but EVERY time I install it on my phone I get either "Application not installed." or "There is a problem parsing the package." I have uninstalled all versions already on my phone through Titanium Backup prior to installing my themed one. I have manually put it in /System/app and changed permissions and rebooted. NOTHING I do works. I have adb and java installed and in the PATH. I have tried every possible solution I have found on the internet and none work. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!
P.S. I have an HTC Thunderbolt running the latest build (3/17/12) of ThunderStick Full Blown Sense 3.0 (Thread for this ROM here)
Here is the edited res folder - Maybe someone can look at or use it for troubleshooting.
Thanks again for any input on this problem.
go to market and search and download zipsigner2. open it and navigate to the app and then chose and output and save it as an .apk file and it should install like normal

I changed the bootanimation of my s5363 Galaxy Y and now I cant get any to work?

Hi,
I was following a tutorial and it said to put a file named "samsungani" and the "bootanimation" zip file into system/bin and the bootanimation zip into system/media. It worked great. Then I downloaded a more exciting one (made for galaxy y) and replaced the bootanimations in the bin and media folders. Now it just stays on the hardwares loading screen without loading a bootanimation?
I hope i'm making a simple nooby mistake.
Thanks for your time,

I made the same mistake too, on 2 devices.
If you have CWM installed, reflash the rom withot a data wipe only a cache wipe. You will keep all your data and your normal bootlogo will come back. Try a different one next time.
Hi,
I dont have a backup to flash the system with. I am using the s5363 galaxy y so CWM dosent work.
