Most stable ROM in your opinion? - HTC Sensation

tl;dr Most stable ROM in your opinion?
There are a variety of ROMS for our HTC Sensations. Some solid builds, others experimental. I tried a CM10 ROM earlier, for the first time and thought it was quite amazing. Project Butter is SO noticeable. I fell in love with it pretty quickly, but the battery life and stability are a real turn off, but of course without official source code we make due, right?
In your experience, what is the most stable ROM you have tried? I know each dev works hard, but we all know some ROMs are simply better than others for difference reasons, both subjective and objective. For me, the most stable ROM is ARHD. No matter what else I try I always find myself coming back to it because it works the best of all the ROMs I've tried.

I think Android Revolution HD is the most stable and it's the best ROM battery wise i've ever tried too.

Stability wise and virtually bug free I would have to say elegancia with sense 3.6

Its like if you're asking what kind of cars do you like ? You gotta try them until you find one that suits you.. and also you could have done a research before opening a new thread..

I would recommend MIUI, from miuiandroid.com
It's very different to stock, however, but that's what I love about it

Best battery life I've ever had was with virtuous inquisition....
Most stable, well that's a hard call because I've used many stable roms. I cannot really say which was more stable than the other because I've never really had too much trouble with stability.... Several have proven to be very stable....its different opinions for everyone and I can't really choose one in particular...

Most of our great chefs roms are stable, especially if out of beta!

I would recommend either Android Revolution HD or ViperS if you want Sense 4.1. Both I have found to be stable and have very good battery life.

ARHD with faux kernel 009b4

After flashing several 3.0 and 3.5 ROMS I have to say the Virtuous ROM is very stable. I've had no problems, lags or FCs.
I have not tried any ICS ROMS so can't comment on their stability.

I have three nandroids of Roms that I use, all of which are pretty good:
Virtuous Sensation - has most Sense
HyperNonSense - has a little Sense
RevertedAOSP - zero Sense, stock Android
My daily driver is RevertedAOSP because it is fast, solid, and with a few tweaks does everything I need it to do.
Good stuff.
Thanks guys

He's asking for ICS not gingerbread!
Anyways, I'm using webstar1's Ultimite ROM. Very smooth when compared to the other sense based roms. pretty much is AOSP, except for the Dialler/Contacts and camera apps. would recommend, very stable, hadn't had one FC yet. :]
EDIT: LOL sorry I misread the OP. -.- oh well!

Android Revolution HD (currently im using the 3.6.8 version see my signature) is good. It's stable and it's just like the stock ROM only more tweaked and overclocked to 1.5GHz. Despite that all the battery life is longer than the stock ROM itself while performance improves, so I would recommend you this ROM.
Must say that I haven't tried other ROMS yet (only the ARHD ICS ROM once, but after 30 minutes playing around I was bored so put it back to 2.3 with nandroid backup)
I just flashed Virtuous ICS 1.3.0 today and so far, while certainly beta, looks really stable! Unless something creeps out of the corners, looks like this will be my new daily driver for a while.

Well, have flashed twice daily, since I owned the Sensation a couple weeks back, tried every rom in the android forum, a couple of roms i feel are rock solid stable, not force closing once, and a nice amount of battery, they are LeeDroids rom and CoreDroid rom, thats my opinion only, and for you just keep flashing, I also too am not a fan (yet) of ICS roms....... what am I using now???? see my signature

Best ics rom?

Im looking for a highly recommended ICS ROM, that doesnt look like sense.
Please recommend some ROM's!

Excuse for my English
I also use virtuous. Ive tried ARHD, IC, RCmix, and Trips ROMs. Virtuous looks just like AOSP and feels like it aside from some slow downs here and there. Only thing that gives it away as Sense based is benchmark scores.
Now the camera shortcut from lockscreen works as does the gallery shortcut within camera mode! Having a "senseless" sense based ROM really has the benefit of being able to use SOME of the worth a crap HTC apps such as the camera. We ALL know how lousy CM7 camera was...

Virtuous flies w/included kernel! You'll just have to try it....then report back.

Speaking of HyperSensation and HyperNonSense, what exactly is the difference between the two?
I found out that HyperSensation is AOKP and HyperNonSense is a stripped and themed Sense, but is there anything else?

So with HyperNonSense, I would still be able to use HTC Sense for combining contacts from different places? but as it is Sense, I would also miss out on the customization options that HyperSensation has? -among other differences.

What do you want in the rom (which customization) to be satisfied?
I just tried aokp eye candy for the first time a week ago. I personally love it! Its different and has amazing customization! I found it to be stable and fast. I'm sticking with it for awhile. I really love it. Its definitely different! Its really a beautiful rom! hence the name eye candy. It fits perfectly! Simply wonderful! I suppose it all depends on what you personally like. But id give it a try and sees what you think. It has more customization than cm9 things like rom control where you can over or under clock cpu. Its really worth a try. I was a big sense fan but I don't miss it with this rom. But everyone is different so it might not be for you, however try it. I know I really love it. Best of luck.

Best ROM for my sister?

Hi guys
I'm from the HTC EVO 3D section of the forum and I know this question is usually frowned upon but recently my sister's phone (Sensation XE) has become laggy as hell and very buggy. She's come from an iphone and is not used to this kinda stuff and has no idea about rooting/custom roms, etc. So I have offered to borrow her phone for a day or two and root it/put on a custom ROM for her which will hopefully sort out these problems and give credence to my claim that Android is better than iOS.
The reason I'm asking this question is because I just don't have the time to test out different ROMS. I need to root it and put one on as soon as pos and then give the phone back to her. (She doesn't live with me so I can't be changing ROMS all the time for her, and she needs her phone urgently)
What I am looking for is recommendations on a very fast and stable ROM with good battery life? Preferably Sense 4.0 but if that is too buggy/battery hog, then I'm fine with Sense 3.6. Just need it to be snappy and as stable as possible because I won't be around much to tweak it and sort out loadza problems if they arise in the future.
Thanks in advanced for your help.
Sense 4.0 looks good but it's not very good with battery (i get max 7-8 hours from it). So i'd recommend a Sense 3.6 ROM.
My favourite and the most stable one i know is ARHD

Hi there, It's really best to have your sister try out SEVERAL different roms then make a choice.we have so many great roms to choose from and is really a matter of personal taste as to which one to use .do her a favor and let her experience different ones and choose what she liked best ! I'm running viper right now and I love the customization options, but it's always best to try out SEVERAL then have her choose. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you both I do hope you take this advice. It's really best to form your own personal opinion when it comes to roms.

Vipers 1.1.0 is the best sense 4.0 rom out there. It has great tweaks and it is stable.your sis may not like cm9 or aokp.Go for viper
Viper or a few other sense 4 roms are a good choice...
Cheers for the help guys.. Will be sure to check those roms out.
@ realsis - Cheers for the suggestion, and I know what you mean, but in this case it is extremely unlikely to happen. She doesn't have the time or desire in testing out loadza different roms. This is probably why the iphone is better for most people because you're given a fast and simple OS, and everything just works and is super smooth. Most people are happy with that and rightly so. Personally I'll spend ages looking for the "perfect" rom, but the reality is that most people just don't care.
No pun intended but also lack the experience in flashing rom's and kernel I would suggest a rooted stock Rom for now and let her play around with so she will get used to it and then later on go a little more advanced and then let her take it out for spin to see how she likes it oh keep in mind even on a rooted stock Rom there's no lag like it is on a stock Rom that isn't rooted and for the kernel check out this one for the kernel and there's mod that go's with it as well im running it now and its awesome here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432211

The fastest, smoothest ROM is Mike 1887's Android Revolution HD's. She can also have Beats Audio with the ROM.
TouchCream is the best, fastest and smoothest of them all! Just click on the banner in my signature
Word of warning: viperS is a great sense 4 ROM, its wonderful, but install a different kernel. The bricked kernel that comes with the ROM causes it to lag. The viper thread is filled with people suffering lag on it. I suggest seb's (link in Sig) or faux123's. Faux's forces both cpu's online so it may be a bit worse for battery, but I can't make that call, others seem to do well with it.
If you still have doubts, ARHD sense 3.6 will give the best stock appearance without the lag.

May have to go for that one then. Like I said, she has no interest in swapping around and flashing ROMS, so it'll very much likely be a one time job with no testing of others.
As it is your sisters phone and you don't want to constantly be messing with it and her having issues with it. I'd recommend Android Revolution HD. It is the closest thing you can get to the stock ROM. It's fast and smooth.

I am using bruces CM10 ROM. Working great!
I'm on DragunKorr's Paranoid Android 2.11.
Buttery as hell and i love the hybrid modes. It's not 100% working yet, but the missing elements are so minor that they don't affect me for how I use my phone.
If I weren't using this, I'd be on Bruce's CM10. He really set the standard there with that one and it's only cos I love the hybrid modes that I'm not using it.
Both ROMs have breathed new life into my phone - finally, the full power of the sensation has been realised!!!
pyromod CM9 here, pretty stable and fast. Good battery life too. I would definitely suggest it.
On Bruce's cmx and enjoying it very much very pleased that the CRT animations are fully functioning and the stock SMS app had pop ups now like hand cent does ^^ once they manage to get the front facing camera functioning I will never leave it I have also used berserk mode on by memnoc which I thought was very nice but the fact that I couldn't use wii remotes through Bluetooth on my emulators pushed me to full aosp not too sure where I am going with this aside from Bruce's cmX is highly recommended by me  front facing camera and usbotg is all we need now

What about battery life, how is it?
I've tried several different roms. Virtuous Inquisition is good but it was giving me wrong battery reading, kept jumping up and down and I couldn't tell how much battery I had. CM9 is nice but the front facing camera doesn't work (at least on the versions I've tried). CM10 Jelly Bean by Bruce is great but it's unfinished, a couple of things are not working (front facing camera for 1).
I'm on ViperS 1.2.1 right now and I LOVE it. The rom is pretty fast and stable. I enjoy the tweaks the devs have put on it a lot. Battery life is pretty decent. I got around 18 hours on average use.
I think if you want speed and smoothness, go for the CM or AOSP builds, they beat all other in that department. I personally enjoy Sense 4 so I go with Viper S.
I used HyperNonSense for 5 months and just flashed Android Revolution HD an hour ago, no reason other than trying new rom
you have not forgotten anything? smartdroid daemon sense 4? I do not see
Used OpenSensation for some time and was very satisfied except that many icons and fonts are just too small for me. Switched to Anroid Revolution HD 6.7.2 and I love it.
Battery life is just average I think. Since I disabled Wifi, I can live with it.

Hi there, I'm using Viper Rom. I am happy with it! The update had made it much better I do have some weird issues sometimes like Bluetooth turning on by itself but for me that's about the only negative issue I'm experiencing. I do like the customization and really like sense 4.1. I would like to see better battery life from the Rom.but I'm now using sebastian kernel with mod and a slight under volt plus a new mugen battery and I've actually managed to stay on 100% for three hours! Thank God! So hopefully the battery issue is solved. But all in all for the people who like sense roms, yes I would recommend viper. Hope this information helps some how and I wish you the best!

Major categories of custom ROM according to me are -
Sense based - sense 4.0 based or
Sense 3.6 based
sense 4 based
Eg viper, insertcoin, ordroid etc
Sense 3.6 based -
Eg arhd, elegancia, etc
IPhone look - MIUI
Samsung look - cyanogen mod
Plain android - AOKP/AOSP Based
I have very less experience on these. I prefer sense based.
