Would love to give this a try, but as stated in OP, data is not working. One of the main reasons i use the phone. Once you get that worked out, I'll do some testing for you. Awesome job though. You finally graduated to building a ROM from source. Now let's get this project rolling.
Edit: Might wanna add this to your list of ROMs in your sig.

I was wondering when you'd release this. Great work erik! I'm glad you got everything worked out.

Erik, nice to see this up finally. llol Now on to some bugs.
Erik gave this to me a few days ago and I just haven't had time to test it properly. There will possibly be more bugs so if there are please log them. As far as data goes I have ATT and my data was not working with any APN I tried. The ROM also broke root for me which was fixed by flashing SuperSU. Yes I said flashing. I always keep it on the root of my scard in zip format. Here's the link to the flashable version:
SUPERSU v0.96

I had pretty much the same experience in the short period I was checking it out. Data issue is identical with TMOB. As for root, I was using Superuser and it reported the installed binary as 3.2, while the app said 3.1.1 was the latest. Flashable zips for both can be found here:
ChainsDD Superuser
That may have the same result.

Because development for this phone is dead! Remember? LOL Where is that dude now. And Bryan should be getting a metric ton of thanks. Aries anyone?

Small tid bit of info. Both AdamOutler and cyanogen have less than 5000 thanks each. Bryan has about half of that. I think there is a time when people just stop hitting thanks. Not that it is right.

Looking for ROM Testers for AOSP 2.3.4 ROM (Testing Done for the day)

Here's the file for those who missed the Beta testing earlier via twitter:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/fdg5m3gz1j6h793/P999-AOSP-1.1.0_r1.zip
So some of you may know me and some don't. Anyways, I am mainly a kernel hacker and I do some ROM building on the side. I have recently created an AOSP ROM rebuilt from source code based on latest AOSP release 2.3.4 for MT4G/Glacier.
See thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017516
I've been lurking the G2x forum for a while now because Cyanogen himself got this phone, and I was surprised that still not many developers have jumped on this phone yet.
So instead of only having few ROMs to play with, I decided to do a build for this device, but unfortunately, I don't have this phone myself, so I cannot test this ROM myself.
I am looking for beta testers who's willing to flash my AOSP 2.3.4 build from source code directly for G2x (P999).
Requirements:
Must follow me on twitter to get updates
Can give detail feedbacks
Reply to this thread to apply....
Thanks for reading...
EDIT: Please POST screen shots of it, if it works
I'm down to beta test this! Just don't have twitter, but I guess I can start!
Will this also have a kernel of your own?
Anyways let me know!
Thanks!

It is very hard to build and test a kernel blind... Need a phone to do it correctly and properly... It will be bundled with CM7's default kernel...
More then welling to help and if needed remote access to my system with phone connected to it.
Count me in. Im rather ROM crazy. Im known to flash a ROM at least once or twice a day on my collection of phones (G2X, Droid 1, DX and Fascinate). Wouldn't mind helping.
Ill beta test about to follow u now. Edit: following and wait on build. We need some new kernels. This is great to hear

[RECOVERY]CWM FINAL for the SGS4G - FROYO ONLY

Special thanks goes out to everyone who tested for us.
Also, make sure to thank @drhonk, without him, I probably would have given up a while ago.
Additional thanks to robbbbit for testing the final version, and to luckyduck69 who sent me his device to get this project going.
Here is CWM Final for the SGS4G.
You will still need to modify your stock recovery binary to be able to use CWM.
Kernel Devs can also compile CWM into their kernel by extracting the update.zip and building it into their initramfs.
To modify recovery:
download this file
MOD EDIT TO REMOVE DEAD LINKS
and use root explorer or adb push the file to /system/bin
DO NOT delete the current one there, or rename any files.
Just overwrite it.
CWM Final
MOD EDIT TO REMOVE DEAD LINKS
Place in the root of your SD. If you have a update.zip there already, delete it, and replace it with this one.
I have sent this to Koush as well to have it added to Rom Manager.

[mod] - ics init.d stapler -7/29/2012-

WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?
If you are one of the many ICS users (or devs), you may have noticed that it is very difficult to make your tweaks (v6 and car-o-dope especially) stick. Whether or not these tweaks are actually needed is up to the user/dev, i'm just here to bring you the solution to a minor ICS issue.
WHAT THE HECK DOES THIS DO?
This is a flashable .zip file that will essentially inject (or staple as I like to say) the support of the INIT.D script into your current ICS rom. As I said above, this SHOULD (YMMV) allow the support of any tweaks that require the INIT.D script.
WHAT THE HECK SHOULD I DO?
I AM IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU BREAKING YOUR EVO 4G USING THIS MOD!
In order from start to finish:
-Download the .zip file from the download section.
-Place .zip file in the root of your SD card.
-Boot your ICS rom into any AMON RA based recovery.
-(OPTIONAL) Wipe dalvik/cache.
-Flash the .zip file!
-(OPTIONAL) Wipe dalvik/cache.
-Apply your favorite tweaks.
-Enjoy and report any success/failure to this thread.
WHERE THE HECK SHOULD I DOWNLOAD?

Every ICS ROM I've flashed, since the beginning of ICS to when I put this out, did not stick with my tweaks.
I made this for myself and decided to release it for the community.
It may be standard now, but I know a few devs have asked to include this in their ROMs, so there is the point lol.

There I ported ICS before they even had it available... Then I went to the Amaze for a bit.... now I just picked this phone up for the kids so I decided to do some work in here...
So any way.. If there is anything I can help with let me know, I will do my best to chip in...
Also, What issues are you having? I have been running mine for a couple days now with no issues so far... knock on wood...
I also built a new ClockworkMod 6 recovery that I will post with this rom hopefully tomorrow...
Still doing some light themeing on the rom...

Here we come...
Been running since posted make sure if testing to install the newest gapps 12-12. As the op mentions a lot is broken hence alpha. If possible please post logcats.
Got the adb working. I'll play around with getting you some log cats tonight, going to bed. Gotta be up in 2 hrs...
sorry about that jbats. Been busy... adb works if you tap about in settings a few times to get developer options. I ran some logcats and found some issues. I am working on them now. will hopefully have a new build by the end of the day with some fixes in it.. thanks for the help and logcats are our friend...
Come this weekend I might be able to be a Guinea pig if you need one lol. Running pa right now and I'm about ready to refresh my system :3

I talked to him yesterday and he said its still not booting. Jeffakajeff said he was going to give it a shot as well today when he gets a chance. First we've got to get it to boot.

Running a new build with a different configuration right now.. will post the outcome. Ran a build with my old settings last night and that boots and runs but android.com.phone fc's all the time and can't get anywhere without removing phone.apk. remove phone.apk and rom runs smooth. wifi works but no data or much of anything else.

I Can't Wait For This To Come Out... I Flashed It And Was So Excited That It Booted
No estimate on when the actual (non-alpha) ROM will be released? I am anxious to try this ROM.

As an off-topic question would any of you devs know if there is a compile flag to enable tasks/notes in Exchange Services or some way to enable it? Best answer I have found searching this is that the phones that do support it only have it because it was provided as a feature by HTC/Motorola.

Can't wait. Thanks for all of your hard work as devs to bring our phones the rom experiences that we may not get to have for our phones. like my phone may never get the jb experience or any other future android os's that may be released in the future but you guys make those experiences for my blaze 4g possible. thanks sooooooo much. your hard work is very much appreciated.:good:
So looking forward to 4.2.1! I have the utmost faith in you devs! When this is running, straight awesome...

I would really like to help if I can, would it be useful for you devs if I flashed and messed around for a little bit while recording a logcat? If so, I would be happy to spend some time without a usable phone to get that to you tonight
You guys are the best
