Yes, the Galaxy Note 10.1 does use Gorilla Glass. I can't post any links so I've PM'ed you some links that you can look at.
In this article from Phonearea they mention that the Note 10.1 have Gorilla Glass.
I'm not sure that article can be trusted and, as you mention, there are no official statements that the Note 10.1 in face have Gorilla Glass (well, I can't find such a statement anyway).
I thought it was gorilla glass 2? or was that the Note II that has it?

Thank you, i have look at the sites before, and also a lot of review and sites around the world stated that Galaxy Note 10.1 use gorilla glass but i just couldn't believe it yet, i have email Samsung Customer Support @ indonesia and the Customer Service Officer told me That Galaxy Note 10.1 doesn't have gorilla glass, but as we know it, a statement from CSO is often wrong and hardly to believe
Galaxy Note 10.1 is one of the high end product from samsung, it's have high specification and also quite expensive so it's hard to believe that samsung doesn't use gorilla glass on it, samsung use gorilla glass on galaxy ace who is much cheaper that galaxy note 10.1 so why not on galaxy note 10.1 ?

One of the primary ways people scratch their tablets is letting stapled papers rest on top of it. When you drag the paper off the staple scratches.
Never leave anything sitting on the screen.

I love how easy the screen is to clean. A quick wipe on the pant leg and screen is crystal clear. No smearies.

yup therefore I have always ensure anything like that stay away from my tablet.... but it was more like small dots rather than a line.... i hope it's not the original s pen scratching it...
Your out of your mind if you think the s-pen scratched it. Have you used a microfiber cloth and a very small amount of water or cleanser to clean it? I'm sure it is not "scratched".

I hope it doesn't. The SGS3 and One X have GG2 and it's much more susceptible to fine scratches. There's tons of *****ing in their respective forums about it.

Here's a helpful (but a bit anal retentive) tip. Get some pure carnauba car wax and periodically wax your screen. It makes it much harder for debris to stick, provides a protective barrier, and makes the pen (or your finger) glide more easily across the screen. I use detailing spray to clean my screen rather than a cleaner to keep the wax from being stripped off. And yes, if the nib of the pen picks up something abrasive it'll trash your display. So keeping the nib clean is obviously a priority.
Just dont let your mom catch you waxing your screen

I put a Ghost Armor screen protector on my Note. It actually improves the stylus action, in my opinion. The stylus glides a little easier than on the bare glass.
I have no link to back it up, but while I was researching the Note I came across specs that indicated while it doesn't have "gorilla glass", it does have Samsung's own version of GG. Sorry I don't have a link to the page.

If S-pen did it, means we have to change that it is stands for 'scratcher' pen, instead of 'smart' pen.

Don't know if it's gorilla glass, but my puppy pulled mine off a table. It took about a 3 foot drop, and judging by the scratches on the back, she did some dancing on it. When I found it the display was up. But, not a scratch on the glass. I don't use a protector, bareback is best IMHO

omg I wanna cry.... but this is good to know.... don't drop it from ear height or perhaps shoulder height if you're a bit taller then this guy... and as long as you don't carry razor blades in your pocket, there's need for a screen protector
I hate you for making me cringe, but thanks for the post
Yeah, kinda bummed I put a screeen protector on. Prob. take it off now.
Yea I put one on and the screen didnt look as nice as when its bare. Whats the point of having these beautiful displays if u r going to cover it. I have a bare screen right now and it's amazing !!!!!

If you guys have been in the Accessories part of the Captivate forum.. you'll hear alot of people's opinions with different screen protectors.
Such as me who's currently rocking me some PhantomSkinz.. I seriously don't notice I have a screen protector on unless I try to dig my nail into the protector lol but why would I do that!? Not to mention it doesn't really have that rubbery texture.
It's really awesome. if you're not a fan of PhantomSkinz someone said SGP skin protectors are awesome. The user even said it actually made the touchscreen much more sensitive to the touch. just a heads up for those who aren't sure about screen protectors.
The video btw shows some scratches on the device .. a lot actually.. so reconsider if you value your phone's looks
Screen protectors belong on cheap plastic panels. I enjoy my phone so much more when touching glass. Just make sure to get a BlackBerry like sleeve for putting it in your pockets. Since going bare, I will never allow plastic screen guards to deface my touch devices again.

Lots of discussions on this in other forums. Some people swear the phone doesn't have gorilla glass, some do. The vague press release (dated the 24th of august i think) says that Samsung uses Gorilla glass in the galaxy S handset - but it doesn't mention which ones. Engadget ran the story and claimed that all US Galaxy S varieties have gorilla glass. Corning mentions that is part of the AMOLED manufacturing process.
It seems that Gorilla glass is in the phones - it would not make sense to make different AMOLED sandwiches when they are so expensive to start with - but I would love to see something official that says "The Captivate uses Gorilla Glass".

I would like to see the same. I have a small scratch on my screen from being in my pocket. Its one of those scratches you cant see unless the light reflects off the screen just right and the screen off. I know its there but its not noticable. Plus i dont ever keep anything in my pocket where my phone is other than my phone. thats why im iffy about the captivate having gorilla glass.
I got tired of having a screen protector and ripped mine off a week and a half ago. If the screen is not Gorilla Glass, its is still better than anything I have had on a phone a before. The plastic on the top front part of my phone has a few scratches on it, but I have yet to get a scratch on the screen. Only thing I am using now is the Bodyglove case. The screen feels so much better.
... Despite the fact that it is gorilla glass ( or not? ) my screen have two light small scratches on it... and i ' baby ' my phone too. >.>
This article gives confirmation:

[I wanted to post a link to my other post describing my experiences with Gorilla glass but I am not allowed to post a link, so I'll just repeat my message.]
Unfortunately I found out the hard way that Gorilla glass doesn't prevent scratches on the screen. The phone is only 2 months old, I am using it with a silicone skin and no screen-protector. The phone is always in my jeans-pocket, without anything else in it. And still there is a small scratch (2mm) and a dot...
I guess I have to go to screenprotectors. I cannot trust the claims of Samsung and Gorilla glass anymore. :-(
Hi Guys
I ordered this phone yesterday and now I'm actually just waiting to receive it.
I think the phone seems awesome at its price, although I was close at buying a brand new replacement LG O2x for only 66% of the price of Galaxy R.
I'm still a little in doubt if I will keep the phone or not, mainly due to the fear of a screen which is easily scratched. Most other phones out there uses Corning Gorilla Glass, but Galaxy R only uses "scratch-resistant" glass.
Also the new announcements at Mobile World Conference have my interest, e.g. to have a smaller-in-the-pocket phone with similar or better resolution.
What are you experiences so far? Have you made minor surface scratches or is the screen actually quite sturdy?
I would prefer not to use a screen protector.
Best regards, Martin / mhca
The screen glass is pretty sturdy and is actually scratch resistant.
But it would be recommended for heavy users that applying a scratch guard would be better and you can have a peace of mind as you would have to care less about scratches.
About better handsets available in the future only time will tell. But one thing wont change, that is Nvidia's huge efforts to bring game developers to support Tegra devices which will have very few parallels in the Android handsets market.
Till then tuned !
yep SGR has less sturdy scratch resistant glass.. I would prefers gorilla glass.. but sometime it is overrated too lol!...
so my phone already got a tiny scratch after 4th day bought it.. hehe..
I put it inside my pocket together with few coins...

Exactly what I'm worried about. I would never keep the phone in my pocket together with coins.
However, sometimes I toss it somewhere lying together with other stuff, e.g. when passing through airport security.
I'll make up my mind soon.
I'm still very interested to hear more comments from users with experiences.
I used my phone without screen protector for one week after I had bought it. I must mention that I was kinda a cautious and never put coins, keys and mobile to the same pocket. I haven't had any single scratch.
I use a silicon case and plus a hard plastic pouch case when I'm carrying it on my pocket. Not even a single scratch

yeah that was silly of me.. putting the phone in the pocket with coins.. I was rushing with my hand fulls with stuffs..
but the wierd thing was.. I had my HTC Legend once..(Gorilla glass and no Screen Protector) and my Legend did not have any scratches at all for few months..
my bro also using his Galaxy S for a year without any scratches. He does put his phone anywhere though..
still.. Gorilla Glass "a bit" better than normal scratch resistant glass..

I think it would be a bad decision to choose the LG 2X.
About the screen of SGR... I don't have any scratches yet and don't read in other forums that people complain of this issue.
You can find lots of people with Gorilla Glass phones who have scratches and break completely in a normal drop from the hands.
I would buy the SGR definetely.

And...? Have you got any scratches or not?
Me and my wife using it heavily but carry it inside the original pouch or my wife in S2 pouch which completely protects the phone when kept inside a women's purse!
I hate using screen protector and not even using a case, still the phone is entirely scratch-less all around (not just the screen). If you are reasonably careful, I am sure it can last like my S1 or S2 which are scratch-less forever.
the screen is very good with scratch
i dropped it from waist height on the concrete and nothing happend to the screen - i use screen protector though.
i'm starting to doubt they tricked us - that R actually has a gorilla glass
Samsung has already tricked for UTG feature...
Also there can be hidden NFC, MHL output...and now gorrilla....
i cant digest it...!!

Uh, dude the OP is from February.
I have CGG on my moto xt720 and i have had few scratches when kept in pocket with keybunch and coins..!! That was after 1-2 months. Then i realised i should always put a screen guard (not the privacy guard which interferes the touch sensitivity) on any smartphone whatsoever..!
Now, on the day i bought my SGR, i put a screen guard and with a fake capdase back cover, its super safe and no visible scratches .. even after 5 months..

I use a screen protector since the first day, and when the protector is scratched, I only have to replace this, another thing is that with time, screen protector makes work bad the screen, it turns crazy. Then, I must replace the protector.

Maybe because it' scratch resistant, not scratch-proof.
http://www.diffen.com/difference/Scratch_Proof_vs_Scratch_Resistant
And quote from the site OP linked: Due to customer agreements, we cannot identify all devices that feature Gorilla Glass. Your favorite device may include Gorilla Glass, even if you don’t see it listed.
Edit: Note II isn't listed either. Nor S Plus, or S2 Plus...
Edit2: OP's logic is terrible (not on a list -> it hasn't got it)
Guys, I found proof our phone has gorilla glass. Here " said, the screen is protected by gorilla glass, so overall the phone shouldn't prove too fragile over the longer term and certainly the chassis feels pretty solid." Well... it's a bit funny, whatever review I read, before I bought this phone, each of them wrote it's Gorilla Glass on the front.
After buying it, my second buy was a screen protector though, because the last phone of mine was a Galaxy S II, and that surely featured Gorilla Glass, but I made a scratch on the screen on its first day with me. Whatever.
About the phones plastic body: Although I'm really the plastic-protector-case-user type, on the S Advance's first 1-2 months I didn't used anything on it. I even hit a hardplastic table with my phone, and the phone wasn't even slightly sctratched. I can say its body is even harder and more solid than the S II's.
So I woundn't worry. It's not a powerful phone (signifiacant change from S II), but it's surely hard as rock!:good:
If It gonna get a highley stable Rom, I'll stick with it for a while.

If that link says that our phone "Runs older Android V3.2 Gingerbread", I wouldn't trust that source.
even gorilla glass can be scratched / broken..
screen protector is still necessary to avoid any unfortunate breakage on the phone's screen..
gravity hurts, sometimes alot!! lol..
I had an i9003 (Galaxy SL) which has Gorilla glass and the difference is huge, this phone gets scratched much more easily than phones that have this feature.
That doesn't mean it won't be broken if it falls to the ground, I'm just taking about scratches, gorilla glass won't protect your phone from heavy hits / drops, just scratches

I haven't really made a video in a while since I've been so busy at work. Had to force myself to do this one. Thought it might be helpful if you're trying to figure out which case suits your needs more. Please reply if you have any questions about either of these cases. The video is sloppy, long, and lengthy btw. I know...

I put the Book Cover back on while I wait for the screen protector. It definitely looks clean and professional. Plus being able to support the weight by the cover makes it easy to hold / flip the cover on.

I hope you never drop yours if you bought the book cover! I dropped my 8.4 in my Samsung official book cover the other week onto a carpeted office floor and it bent the tab just enough to break the AMOLED LCD (without, oddly enough, breaking either the front glass or the tempered screen protector I had on it). Given that it's costing me around 70% of the purchase price to get it repaired (buying a tab with the most expensive screen tech available suddenly doesn't seem so smart), I'm kicking myself for assuming the official accessory would be pretty rugged.
Currently looking at buying a cover that's bombproof.
What are your thoughts on this glass?

Seems the same as Whitestone with a few exceptions. I do like that the camera cutout isn't there but I feel like Whitestone is easier to install with the kits they provide.
Might be a good idea to install that way! Thanks for the share. I ordered something similar from AliExpress, gonna take forever to get here and has some bad and good news for the fingerprint sensor
Im not going to blow money on these gimmicks. Tempered glass has soo many advantages too but the reality is- there is no great solution for the curved screen except a wet install and good case+ extreme care like not walking and using phone, not holding phone while getting out of car in gravel driveway, etc.

I tried first with standard way and fingerprint didn't work. Second try followed that video the mods took down and it worked perfectly!! I didn't even re-register my fingers. It's a little less accurate but I'd rather not have a cracked screen when i get careless over the next 3 years I own this phone.

I tried first with standard way and fingerprint didn't work. Second try followed that video the mods took down and it worked perfectly!! I didn't even re-register my fingers. It's a little less accurate but I'd rather not have a cracked screen when i get careless over the next 3 years I own this phone.

Anyone tried a Whitestone glass protector?
Thank you. I bought 2 glasses, 3 glue bottles and screen protector for the back cams. I hope they work

I'm using it. My only issue with the glass in this thread is the absence of the camera cutout. I know before I had stated it seemed nice but my Whitestone has lifted up around the top while still actually being adhered to the phone. If I didn't have the cutouts then my front camera would be blurry. I assume this company would use similar glue and would end up with the same results later on.
get an insurance for it, and save money on your case!!!!
