So after having put my droid x sd card from a while back into the sgs3, the error with the blank sd card notification came up. I put the sd card into the computer and it still says must format before i can even open it. What if any software or recovery program can recover the files if possible at all or did i just lose everything permanently.
sounds like its corrupt
Try a program called testdisk on your computer to see if it's recoverable.

All my sd card contents disappeared after I flashed kd1 it shows that the memory is still taken up by the files but I can't find them I tried file explorer apps tried plugging the phone into the computer and still can't find them

Try removing the memory card and reading it directly from a computer. If you can see the contents, copy whatever you need out of it. put it back into the phone. Format. reboot and see if the phone reads it right. If it does, drag and drop whatever you backed up

Will try as soon as I find the micro sd converter

Download photorec.
You can recover your SD card as long as you don't copy anything over to it
OK thanks where do I download it. I'm searching for it in the market and it's not finding it

Google it, it's a windows/linux/mac program.
I have a question regarding the external SD card. My applications wont run and it says error while launching application. And when I connect it via usb, the selection appears for kies, media, and mass storage. If i choose media, it will show on my computer, but if i choose mass storage, it just goes back to my home screen. I am really buffed because i can browse the contents of the SD card if i use the internal file manager.
I would appreciate the help...
Wipe cache + dalvic? Idk man. That's all I really got.

You could just get another copy of tb from the market... But wiping your caches(and fixing permissions) won't effect your sd card or any data on it.
The only time I had a issue like this required me to re-format my sd...
Were you using some sort of app 2 sd? Perhaps you put a partition on it? What rom? Help us help you

After formatting and returning the files back to SD card, the error still persist... Will this error disappear if i flash to GB?
Do you have the option of mounting/un-mounting your card or does it just say mount SD? If it only says mount SD then your card is gone.

it does have unmount option. I can also see the disk spaces and also i can browse the files with the stock file browser. Bt, im now running GB 2.3.6 and still I am experiencing the problem... formatting did not fix the problem...
When you formatted it on the PC was it set as primary?
Were you trying to update your ROM by saving your apps on the sd card then reloading them onto 2.3.6? I was wondering about doing this. Maybe gingerbread and froyo read apk's differently, and if they are already installed on sd card I could see problems arising. Never worked when I tried that with any windows formatting

My first hand experience yesterday was not very successul because my SD Card is acting strangely coz it did run some apps on the new rom and the others shows error while launching. I'm on the process of reflashing and i'll post update once i'm done and run some tests...
Got a new 32gb class 10 card. So I copied old sd card to comp then copied to new card. Everything went fine , but once I reboot the phone, about half of the data goes into a folder called lost.dir and several folders appear with random lettering for names. No matter what method I use to transfer my days it does this. I've formatted in the phone. I've formatted in the comp . Neither my phone or comp day card is corrupted it seems ok. Has any one seen this before?

You said you've tried formatting several times. Just to check, did you do FAT32?

Just for debugging purposes, what happens if you insert your sd into the computer after booting once on the phone?

It recognizes it u can see all the files and the messed up ones

Its almost like every folder I add below the lost directory folder goes crazy and ends up in lost.dir going too try something and see if this works
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
So this is what I've found. No matter what files I add to the card the Minn I go over 3.75 gb and restart the phone the files that are over that amount get broken up into the lost.dir and folder replaces it with a u in front of since this is a 32gb card I'm betting the card is no good

have flashed several phones ATT, Sprint, and Verizon. I have two though I am looking at that have a an icon between the wifi and the battery circle. I am flashing CM 10.2 for FYI. The icon looks like a memory card with a "?" in the middle of it. What is it? Then following what is done to fix it? I have tried searching but without knowing the right words to search for I'm stumbling through. Please help me.
Phone isn't recognizing your SD card. Try moving all it's contents to a different storage like a computer and reformat the SD.

I do not have a memory card in phone other than the internal memory. Does the internal memory need to be reformatted? When view how much storage it shows 12gb both on the phone and plug into the pc. If it does need reformatted which way should I go with that? Odin, CWM, etc..?

I think it's a sim card error.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Is this the symbol (sim card)
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I attached the pictures is not the sim card icon. No sim card is in it either.
If there's no SIM card installed, then it makes sense for that error icon to show up if it's the "No SIM" error icon.
anyone else want to take a guess? I put a sim card in the board and it active, the icon is still there...

Hey guys, so I was formatting my phone's internal SD card using my desktop when the whole process jammed. My phone did detected it as a blank SD cars at first and prompted me to format it but after formatting it can no longer be detected. Any ideas on how to fix it? I can't take photos, screenshot but I am able to download apps.
