Help with A2SD increasing storage
So I tried running the previous steps as stated above. And when darktremor SD 2.7.5.2 runs it says "invalid command: xdata". I've moved the xdata folder you suggested we create from the root of my sd card, to the sd-ext and nothing worked. Is there something else I need to do?
Thanks!
I'm running Remics-UX version 1.3.1 on my HTC EVO 4G if that helps.

Well I have a 4 and 8 GB class 2 cards, so I think I'll give it a shoot
(running Ginger-DX 0.23 android 2.3.7 bootloader locked)

You have to choose only one ,,either this a2sd or Darktremor,, you can't use it both and make sure that you have a 10apps2sd file in your system/etc/init.d folder,,if you dont have just grab from the post #2 of this thread and using root explorer/root file manager copy the
10apps2sd to your system/etc/init.d folder and set a permission.

[Safestrap]UnofficalV.2 **Safe strap is having issues please be patient**

*please hold off use of safe strap until further notice. I promise you we are hard at work on it************************************************************There is a new version at the bottom of the post. Please uninstall recovery from with in your currently installed v.1 then uninstall safestrap app. Download and install v.2 and install recovery. If you already have a safe system installed you will need to reflash the zip and wipe data/factory reset. Thanks Jim for the fix! There are now 2 different versions 1 for those not running jims webtop hack and one for those of you that are. Please download the safestrap appropriate for your setup at the bottom of the page. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
What works?
-Everything except mounting usb in recovery.
-Cant seem to format safe system /data
Here it is!!! Our very own Unofficial safestrap recovery!
Whats this mean? Custom rom's!!! CM7 CM9 etc! And no more fxz or cwm on every boot just to save from a softbrick.
How'd we do it?
This was a pain in the A**, Jimbridgeman and myself have worked our butts off on this. We changed the recovery.fstab around so that we are able to use the sd card as a mount point to install the /system partition as well as a separate partition for /data. So in laymen's terms, were booting from the sd.
How to Install -(From Windows)
(Partition sizes are up to you but ext3 partition should be no less then 350mb and the second fat partition should be not less then 500mb)
1.Backup your sdcard
2.Format your sdcard from your phone under settings-storage
3.Put your sdcard into some kind of card reader and place into computer
4.Download, install, and open Mini Tool http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
5. Right click on your sd card, click resize

6. Re size so that you have at least 850mb left "Unallocated"
7.Click OK
8.Click apply changes
9.Right click on unallocated partition and select create
10. Click Yes
11.I went with 1gb, this is the data partition, It needs to be at least 500mb and your settings must match mine. Primary,Fat32
12.Click apply changes
13.Right click on unallocated space, select create
14.Click Yes
15. This is the System partition and needs to be at least 350mb, Your settings must match mine. Ext3,Primay
16.Click on apply changes.
17.Click Yes.
18.You are all done! Should look something like this.
Now to install the safestrap

Special thanks to jimbridgeman and hashcode. (JIM... I LOVE YOU!!!)

The safe system is stored to the sd card, no real performance issues.. 5500ish in antutu running cm7 for the droid 3!
And with that strap i can remove my main stock rom not just install a 2nd rom on sd card ?

I'm assuming that like with the razr if you are using the bootstrap with on boot you have to remove it before installing the safe strap version?
Thank you
I knew it was only a matter of time!!!!!!
Thank you guys
A link worth sharing http://hash-of-codes.blogspot.com/p/how-to-safestrap.html , this is the original safestrap for D3 and RAZR done by hashcode , take a look at his blog to understand more about safestrap if you are a noob like me.
but there is only one question i need to understand using this hack can we install roms on the 1st system ( device memory ) or just on the 2nd system ( SD Card ) ?
This is what I have been using instead of the bootstrap, to use my custom ROMS... it will allow you to use your paid version of CWM the way it should be used. You can now go into CWM and select boot to CWM or flash from sdcard while still in android, and it will boot you into CWM and start flashing....
Thanks for all your hard work!

So essentially, this is a dual boot system of sorts? This allows me to install a custom ROM and run it in Safe mode then go back to my factory ROM by turning off Safe mode?

[Guide][Script][D2EXT+] Removing Darktremor A2SD and installing D2EXT+

This is a small guide on installing D2EXT+ on HTC Explorer which is a fantastic solution for low internal memory problems. D2EXT+ works on any ROM with init.d support. I've tried this method on JaggyRom (3.2.1) (it supports init.d and I don't like A2SD) and it works perfectly.
Disclaimer: I will not be responsible if you brick your phone. Please follow the instructions carefully.
D2EXT+ is a fantastic script which mounts /data to /sd-ext rather than moving your apps to sd-ext (as in Link2SD/ A2SD). I have tried INT2EXT+ but i cannot get the wi-fi to work on this rom.
Why only D2EXT+?
I've used A2SD and its very unstable and cause vague errors.
Seen other scripts move /data/app contents to sd-ext, the phone still shows low internal memory. (Which btw decreases as you go on installing apps)
With D2EXT+ you can use the option "Move to SD"/"Move to Phone" without any problem.
INT2EXT+ is better but wi-fi issues are there does not work. If you try that then please post the results.
Part 1: Removing Darktremor A2SD Script
To do this you just need to remove some files using any file manager. I personally prefer X-plore (You can download it for free on PlayStore).
If you're using X-plore then goto Configuration->Root access and select Superuser+mount writable.
Before you delete any files move apps/dalvik-cache back to internl memory.
Now navigate to /system/app using X-plore under Root and delete com.elgubbo.a2sdGUI-1.apk
Now navigate to /system/etc/init.d and delete 00banner,02firstboot,04apps2sd,S70darky_zipalign
Now in /system/bin delete all files containin a2sd/apps2sd in their name
Reboot
Now A2SD will not work anymore
Part 2: Installing D2EXT+
Firstly, remove A2SD/Link2SD or any such scrips/apps you may be using. Part 1 of this guide shows you how you can remove A2SD from JaggyRom.
This guide assumes that you already have partitioned your SD card. In case you haven't then you can have a look here but make sure the second partition is ext 2/3/4 and not fat32.
You can find and download D2EXT+ from the original thread here.
Open the .zip file you just downloaded and navigate to /system/etc/init.d
Extract the file 40d2ext and place it in the root of your SD card.
Now on the phone open up X-plore or any other root file manager and move 40d2ext to /system/etc/init.d
Set file permissions to 777 or rwe- rwe- rwe-. (In X-plore long press 40d2ext->Permissions->Tick all boxes->OK)
Reboot into recovery (do not do a normal reboot!!).
In mounts and storage format /st-ext
Reboot (Normal)
First boot may take time (Please be patient!!).
To verify the script is working goto storage and check internal free space. It should have increased depending on the size of your sd-ext partition. I'm using a 1GB partition on a 16GB Class 4 card. Check out the screenshot below...

:highfive: Enjoy your extended storage!!
Please hit the Thanks button if you think i helped
Update #1
The above procedure is abblicable to other scrips on the download page as well. I noticed that using D2EXT+ poses a problem that the /data/dalvik-cache is mounted to /sd-internal for speed purposes. Now, as HTC Explorer has very less memory, it will become impossible to install a large number of apps even with a big sd-ext partition.
Solution: Install D2EXT instead of D2EXT+. This can be also downloaded from the link provided above. But simple replacing and rebooting won't make the desired changes. My Solution: After removing A2SD and placing D2EXT as mentioned above. I did a factory wipe using recovery. After that it worked flawlessly and i am now able to install as many apps as i require.
Does anybody feel that ur phone is too slow after doing this method?! :\
As such phone dosn't seem slow. But if you want to increase sd card performance then enable readahead tweak. Search forums for that...u'll find the script. Btw mount2sd is also capable of doing that. Choice of scripts depends on u ( of course )
Hit thanks if I helped

if it don`t install by flashing then all you have to do is extract it and then copy the file from the extracted system\etc\init.d which is called Swap SD Ace Plus initd and paste it into your phone system\etc\init.d and reboot your phone
already do that and not work

How to make this tweaks works.
Finally, I manage to make it working. Follow this simple step, and you will get this scripts working in no time
[All of this step was done by Mi File Explorer, the one that comes with SpeedMode ROM]
1) Extract sd_card_swap_ace_plus_cm11.zip
2) Navigate into the sd_card_swap_ace_plus_cm11\system and you will see one file " Swap SD Ace Plus Initd [i rename it to
SwapSDAcePlus, don't think it will give any effect though]
3) Copy that file into root\system\etc\init.d folder
4) Set permission as following
- Owner : root
- Group : shell
- and make sure this file permission is -rwxr-xr-x (755) by ticking all of it except write rows for Group and Others
5) Save all changes that you made.
6) reboot
7) DONE!

I wouldn't recommend this method.
Your SD Card is going to corrupt faster.
If your SD Card corrupts, your phone is useless because you redirected the RAM to the card.

Just test it with NFS(still ask to free more space) and Shoebox. Doesn't work. Do I need to repartition my SD card or something else because there is no changes to ExtSdCard at all?

Check the script again.
Sorry but i tried and if anyone can fix this post it here

Idea is good. I was experimenting with /data/app to SD a little bit earlier but I didn't get in to it to much due to my free time but I think that could be done. Little work on script, android_platform. XML and rc file in ram disk of boot.img and of course SD card need to be repartitioned.
In platform. xml and rc file is defined that phone memory is primary as storage and in script path to ext-sd is not correct. That is what I noticed by quick look.
Here you can see correct path.

Mmcblk0p2 is from your script. Check it out. And it creates folder ext-sd in root. Check that too.
I repartitioned micro SD using twrp but first do backup of your content from SD card because it wipe everything.

Nope. Still not working. Script is not good.
I have managed to modified script for switching internal to extSdCard and now I downloading data app for NFS most wanted.
For now I am not allowed to distribute modified script without developer permission but it works great.
can you tell the Developer's name please

Here is his topic. I am still waiting for his response for permission.
But I modified script only to swipe extSdCard with sdcard0 for app that need huge amount of data for download to work (eg. NFS). So far I think that this is good solution and I will stick with it.

Dhruvit don't get me wrong( as before that I am "mad" at you) when I criticism how you post your topics and your work. First you made something and for example from above you get wrong partition block which is not good and than you don't test it for yourself and in the second post you ask confirmation does it work like you don't have your own phone to test it.
Your idea was great but looking at your script little bit more I am not sure what you wanted to achieve since you didn't explained it well in first post. You just give instructions how to.
Did you wanted to swap whole mmcblk0p22 with mmcblk1p1 or something else?
No hard feelings. That's me always criticism
thats allright i tested it but firstly early (some time before the day i made it) i experimented to replace apps from /data/app to /system/app so that i would not waste any space and when i made it the apps it replaced were not working like all google apps. and then secondly ( when i tested it ) i did not saw the internal storage space and flashed it and ( after flashing zip file ) i saw space in internal storage increased so i thought that it was working. and sorry to those who tested it.
it all means that i got wrong.
