Tips and Tricks
Go to Settings\Performance and enable 16bit transparency
FROYO KERNEL - Change the Overclock values to [email protected]\[email protected]\[email protected] for better battery life and vsel2 usage.
[*}All Kernels - Select "Use Default Values" in oc config to use my values for all governors
Restart the system once you're done changing values (dpi, layout, etc) in Paranoid Preferences to prevent glitches.
System App "Bugs" -- Valid for any CM10 Rom and CM9 for Apollo
If the AOSP keyboard keeps taking preference and you don't want it to, delete LatinIME.apk & LatinImeDictionaryPack.apk or rename to *.apk.bak
If Apollo intercepts your long press volume track change or the lockscreen music widget doesn't work correctly, delete or rename Apollo.apk
This rom includes (and always will) a 30 step volume mod, if it messes with your player then uncheck "Direct Volume Control" or the appropriate setting in your music app. I'm an audiophile and prefer the 30 step mod over the default 15.
Updating the Rom
For Dirty Upgraders (non-Factory Reset install) all you have to do is flash the rom -- no dalvik or cache wipe is required -- they're built in.
This rom includes GooManager and it will let you know if a new version of ParanoidAndroid available.
The roms in Rom Manager are from Quarx's server. I'll be removing this in later versions of PA.
I recommend a full factory reset when installing new versions; but I do that with every rom I flash.
Use GooManager to update this rom -- It'll automatically reboot into recovery, wipe what you selected it to, flash the rom, and flash gapps. The only thing you have to do when updating is say yes to wipe dalvik cache and reboot.
Bugs
Settings>Storage has the SDCard listed as Internal Memory
Settings>Dev Options>Force GPU Rendering -- can cause the Status Bar to not appear
Settings>Display>Enable On-Screen Buttons -- does nothing, use Settings>System>Navigation Bar instead
Settings>Display>Change Height -- doesn't work with Navigation Bar (see the above bug)

I had this problem for quite sometime on several roms, and I've found the solution just yesterday.
The problem on the Play Store is because your LCD Density change. I'm not sure on how you have configured your phone, but what worked for me was to keep my build.prop with lcd density of 240 dpi, and then make changes by app using Paranoid Settings.

thats right. (-:
pa does not change build.prop or system dpi at all. systems running always in default dpi. we are strongly against touching build.prop, makes simply no sense. if everythings configured right the market should be fine in whatever dpi you drop it via PA panel.
i heard from a dev that missing vendor files can cause problems, it was recently the issue on the s3. when that was cleared their market started to download happily again. gokussjx was the one that solved it. if vendor files are fine the problem is most likely on the side of the user, maybe he really changed build.prop or did something else to it.
i have mine set to tabUI btw and 200 dpi. normal for my phone is phoneUI and 320. not one issue. (-;

That was an accident. I thought they were tested but I flashed the zip I had without them. Didn't realize until I was in bed that they caused bootloops.

Its already been said, but I'll repeat it -- Change the dpi back to stock in the build.prop (240) and use all the settings in PA to change the dpi without breaking market functionality.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll be releasing a patch later today to address the init scripts & the build version. Its still officially 1.992, only the build script sets the values to 2.00 so that's why we labeled the threads as such. I'm going to fix the roms on goo.im to reflect the same changes to minimize issues with GooManager and not have to use the patch I'll eventually release today -- I have to pick up my Dad from the hospital later today and I'll do more than post in the forums until then.

Go to Settings -- Paranoid Settins -- Apps -- Gmail
Set the layout higher than the 360px default. You'll probably want to lower your dpi for Gmail as well -- I like 160 - 180 myself.
My Gmail is on 160dpi and 720px layout.
I should have added in the first post -- If you were using the old Defy PA, you should factory reset before switching to my PA -- it has a completely different framework with more changes and merges from both PA and Quarx.

FAQ
Q: How do i install fuji-vega using clockwork
A: To do a new rom install with cwm ,download directly onto your vega the rom zip you want.
using vega tools install paul o briens clockwork recovery and recovery app.
then on vega use recovery app to get into recovery mode
once you are in recovery mode ( vega will reboot and enter clockwork mod recovery if you have it installed properly ) easy to tell, then at this stage you will have a number of options on the screen which before you flash a new rom should be done.
first do a complete backup, move to the header you want with the volume as up/down keys and use the power button to select.
backup takes a while but is essential
then after backup, wipe the cache partition and under advanced the dalvik cache which removes any lingering stuff from the old rom you backed up
then after all this go to the heading marked install from a zip file ( or something like ) and search normally in downloads for the rom file you downloaded.
select it and let cwm do the rest.
once it is finished it will go back to option to reboot ,,,, so reboot and enjoy.
if it goes wrong re flash in the same way or to return to your original rom just do a restore from cwm.
Q: Vega not rooted
A: Download visionary below
install the apk
click temp root (do it twice)
vega should now be rooted.
then click attempt permroot now to permanent root vega so you dont lose root after reboot
Q: How to OC vega to 1.4ghz
A: Download CPU tunner from the market, it should detect the freq. then you can change the freq.
or
put sdtxt to the root of your sdcard, then open setcpu. scroll down to click load from sd/txt. If you already have setcpu setup. just click options, then device, then sd/txt.
Thanks

Sounds interesting..... especially the Galaxy Tab Email client.... will give this a try. Thanks for sharing....
It's nice to see more roms for the Vega! Will try this rom too! Thanks
Hello alphaola
thank you for this fast rom!
i have a little and one big problem
first the big:
its not possible to connect to a exchange server! "Unable to connect server."
My previous Rom (original Mail App) works whit the same settings clean!
can you test it?
and the haptics on the "APP Menu" is very bad.
when I touch and slide to the next page I always pick an App and drop it to my home screen.
otherwise, this is the best rom atm!
sorry for my awful english....

Go to Spare parts and untick haptic feedback. That should help, let me know how you get on.
hello alphaola
haptic feedback was already disabled.
I have tried the calibration tool and I have the feeling it is a little bit better.
but i still cant conntect to the exchange server.
by the way, thank you for the new rom release!
Nice Addon
Just installed and it looks good.
The Samsung apps needs ButtonSavior or a hardware button re-config to work well (as access the menu not possible as these run full screen)
The email app seems a little unresponsive to clicks (e.g. on the reply button). Maybe I need to recalibrate my screen again... (anyone know if screen recalibration settings are saved between ROM updates such as this?)
I like Canvas and the music app is an improvement over the stock player.
Thanks for sharing this nice update - and in case anyone is wondering - installing this does not mean you lose any of your installed applications or settings (other than for those apps which are replaced) - although as recommended - a system backup is the best option to avoid wasting time in case something goes wrong.
Cheers
J
Flash doesn't work. It says i have to install a newer version of flash.
Email doesn't work, too. I can't setup an ingoing server. The app crashes if i try to save.
Any suggestions?
Send from my Vega
Certainly a fast rom. However, evrytime i start the vega the email app crashes and is forced closed. Is this a problem with this rom or is it the 1.09 release?

This is a re-hack of modaco r8 rom, so it is not based of 1.09. You are running v1.08.

If you haven't already: Go to applications»manage and clear cache for email.
Should stop the FCs but requires you to setup email accounts again.
I like this Rom but don't like the email app that much (plus I like to get my work email) so just installed the normal email app instead.
Some nice touches.

[ROM]{GT-P6210} OMGBBQROM Final Release 3/18/12 (Based on LA3 firmware)

Warning: I am not responsible if I am not responsible if loading this rom hard bricks your tab. Install this at your own risk.
NOTE: This ROM is not compatible with Gary9d's Kernel
DO NOT INSTALL THIS ON T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 plus
DO NOT INSTALL THIS ON GT-P6200
If you do install this on another device besides GT-P6210, you will soft brick your tab and I WILL NOT be able to help you out since I DO NOT have those devices.
I'm not sure if this will work on all the GT-P6210 from all regions since I don't have a samsung galaxy tab 7 plus from europe or any other place.
I am only sure that it will work on the American GT-P6210
Ok, so this is the first rom I have ever made so please be patient with me. If any of you more experienced developers see something wrong with this rom, please tell me so that I can fix it. The rom is based samsung's LA3 firmware.
Here are the rom features:
build.prop tweaks (improved touch screen response, enabled launcher hardware acceleration, experimental dalvik heapsize, possible battery saving tweaks, etc).
zip-aligned apps
removed bloatware (mostly samsung's apps such as their music player and store)
de-odexed
root (just install superuser from the market)(I don't take credit for this, Garyd9 is the one that got us root access for our device).
Go Launcher HD for tablet as default launcher (removed the crappy touchwiz-honeycomb launcher)
The rom is very basic right now, but I will be adding more features later on.
Installation instructions:
First you must have clockworkmod recovery installed. If you don't already have it installed go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379532 and follow the instructions
I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO A BACKUP BEFORE IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH THE INSTALLATION.
Once you have clockworkmod recovery installed, download the omgbbqrom betav1.zip and put it on your device memory. Then boot into clockworkmod recovery and choose
-install zip from sdcard
then
-choose zip from sdcard (not choose zip from internal sdcard, because thats actually the external sd card)
then
look for "OMGBBQROM Final Release" and select it
then
It will ask your to confirm install, select "-yes - install OMGBBQROM BETA v1". Wait for it to install.
I also recommend wiping dalvik cache, battery stats and fixing permissions. But it is not completely necessary
After it has finished installing go back to the main menu and look for -wipe data/factory reset and select it and choose "-yes -- delete all user data". When its done wiping the data reboot your tablet and wait for it to start up.
It will take about 5 min to boot up. It will stay on the samsung screen for a while because it's organizing all the new files. The first boot may be a little laggy because the market will be restoring all the apps to your tab.
Change Log:
v1.0: Initial Release
v1.1: Modified dalvik heapsize and zip-aligned system folder for real now. Improved wifi and improved video and audio streaming
v2.0: Improved battery life with deeper sleep. Disabled dithering for better performance. Enabled Dalvik VM Just-In-Time Compiler.
OMGBBQROM BETA v1.0 OBSOLETE AND CRAPPY
OMGBBQROM BETA v1.1 Removed (this one was mostly for testing purposes)(Please download the final release)
OMGBBQROM Final Release Removed for now (Need to add some fixes)

Yep, I didn't theme anything. I did try to change the font of the lockscreen clock to the roboto ice cream sandwich font but for some reason the hour part of the clock kept getting cut off. So for example the time was 8:30, then you would only see the right half of the number 8 lol. So for right now im leaving it with the stock honeycomb clock font. But I'll post a screenshot of that so you guys can see what I mean.
Roboto Font
Honeycomb Font
Sorry for bad quality of the images guys but atleast you can tell the difference between the two.
Sorry Guys but I removed v1.0, I wasn't really happy with it. But now im uploading v1.1 right now and maybe its just me but v1.1 feels much faster

Great work! If I were you I would remove the Sim Tools, Phone, and Messaging APK's since our Tab is Wi-Fi only.
If it were my ROM I would also replace the stock Browser with Opera Mobile so we can have a real desktop experience, use ssLauncher instead ofGoLauncher, install Gesture Control to hide and show the Honeycomb Bar, install Loquendo TTS Susan instead of the stock robot voice, install the Toshiba Thrive Media Player and remove all others including Gallery, install Spare Parts and uncheck Compatibility Mode so any app can be fullscreen, install Supernote from Toshiba Thrive, install Swiftkey X for Tablets for the keyboard, Wi-Fi finder for wardriving, Zedge for notification tones, and TV.com, Play Movies, and Crackle for movies, and of course Tiny Flashlight and CameraZoom FX. Other than that it would be great if we could use Gary's kernel since it gives incredible battery life and NoLock so we don't have to deal with a lock screen, and GrooveIP so we can make calls via Google Voice on Wi-Fi.
Other than that it's rad.

Thanks for the feedback. The point of this rom is for it to be the lightest as possible so that means having the least apps as possible and letting the people install their own apps. Also I don't think I can put swiftkey x for tablets in because it would be illegal to put in a paid app in the rom. However I will ask for permission to put gesture control into this rom. I'll see if I can remove the simcard tools, phone and messaging apk and still make it boot.
Can you provide the file's md5sum? Rapidshare shows the file being 142.9mb and the actual downloaded file seems to be about 136mb :what:

Hmm, thats weird. Ok, I didn't create a md5sum for the rom, i'm still new at this. So im reuploading it with md5sums. The actual file size should be 139mb.
it is actually 142.9... its correct.... just the way windows showing the info is different... just right click the zip and see the properties...

Just wondering before I flash this ROM...What features will you be adding? I would like to know before I flash this, set it all up and then find out there is a new version realeased and then I have to do it all over again...

[A510][ROM][2012-11-19] PiccoloRom 4.1.1 with 4.2. AppMod

Piccolo_ROM
(Rom 4.1.1 with 4.2. AppMod)
This ROM based on Franken700 (4.1.1.) with 3.0 or 2.6. Thrills Kernel for iconia a510. So first of all, thanks to NoThrills.
I had modified some things, cleaned the completly System and added the new 4.2. Google-Apps-Mod. The only Acer-Setting
that has remained is DOLBY MOBILE for better Sound on your Acer Iconia A510. All other useless app's are removed.
What is changed?
_________________________________
two rom_version with Statusbar on top, like in 4.2. system or Statusbar on bottom, like we know it on our acer iconia!
(please look at the Screenshots to see the diffrents)
mod 4.1. to 4.2. google-apps NEW: Keyboard, Kamera, Launcher, Gallery, DeskClock, Music, Playstore, Gmail, Search
changed system-sounds, fonts and icons to JB 4.2.-sounds, fonts and icons
circle battery icon (to get working percentages in circle, install this update.zip after first reboot)
some tweaks in build.prop
netforks_tweak Increase internet, compressing & then decompressing for less data usage, full speed downloads from
some file sharing site which requires premium account, Boosting network signal strength so to have no call drops
some tweaks in iconia_tweaks.init.d for hopefully better battery-life and i/o-scheduler
set better hosts-file to system with more than 200.000 blocked ad-sites
Acer Ring completly deleted, also in System-Settings
all Acer-Apps deleted, except for DOLBY MOBILE
all unused Google-Apps deleted
(you can optional install the piccolo-gapps.zip, if you need some of them.
In that are AcerPrint, new Gmail and GoogleSearch also included)
edit the default wallpaper in framework-res.apk
added 6 apps to /data (you can uninstall the apps if you don't need them):
Apexlauncher, ES-Fileexplorer, Hacker's Keyboard, HDMIScreenstandby, NotificationToggle and PKwebcamwallpaper
choose apexlauncher or new 4.2. launcher on first startup
set settings for Apexlauncher and NotificationToggle
new bootanimation
full functional ROM with all needed system-apk's and a size of 275MB

_________________________________
install CWM-Based Recovery by nothrills, if you don't have it already.
Download the ROM from this post and put the .ZIP file on your internal or external SD Card.
Shutdown your device and start the Recovery by holding the Volume down (**) button and turning it on again.
Please make a Nandroid Backup. Important!
Optional, but recommended when you first install this ROM. Files on your internal or external SD Card are safe.
Install this ROM by choosing install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard or choose zip from external sdcard.
Wait for the installation to finish (this takes some minutes).
now reboot your system and enjoy!
(optional) Set the settings for apexlauncher.
To use it, you must go after reboot to the settings of apexlauncher, there chose backup&restore and restore the settings.
Now your homescreen will be optimized to use. Of course, you can find and set your own settings as well. but I thought
this is usefull for someone. Moreover the ROM will set the notificationtoggle settings, that you can see in your statusbar.
You must do the same, like for apex-settings, open the apk one time, go to settings and restore the backup-file.
Important Notes!
_________________________________
You can also switch between the top-statusbar and bottom-statusbar, if you edit the build.prop in /system with es- or
root-explorer! Search for the line ro.sf.lcd_density=160 and set it to ro.sf.lcd_density=180. Now reboot the
device and you have changed the statusbar.
I am not responsible for anything you do to your tablet. Whatever you do, you do it at your own risk!
This ROM is NOT intended to be flashed on a A700 tablet. It won't boot!
This ROM is pre-rooted and fully Deodexed.
First boot (after the automatic reboot) will take a while (5 minutes is no exception). Just be patient, it will boot faster next time.
When the tablet has completed booting for the first time, give it another few minutes to get 'up to speed'.
It should be much faster after about 5 to 10 minutes.
If you got freezes or something like that, i don't think so, but then please flash the original Acer Kernel by nothrills!
Or you try the PiccoloRom-version with ThrillsKernel 2.6!

Hi JayjoJayson,
First of all Thanks for your work!
Which kernel version are you using? 2.6 or 3.0?
When you say that Dolby Mobile is there you mean in the settings? And can you confirm that it's working?
Regards.

Mhh, that's strange i have edit the systemUI.apk for the circle-battery-icon, therefore you can't find it in the menu!
But if you install the 4.2_piccolo-gapps, the systemUI.apk doesn't change! So the circle battery should be there after install, too.
On my Iconia it works and after intstalling the gapps, the circle-battery works well. If you like the rom, please hit the thanks-button.. :highfive:
Which version do you use, the piccolo_top-Rom-version doesn't support the circle battery.
Or maybe do you mean the percentage by notificationtoggle, then go to notifactiontoogle settings and there you can choose how the percentage is showing in statusbar.
In the red circle there is no percentage, it is just empty. Do you know how to enable it again? I am not sure how i managed it to disable and as I said, i cannot find any toggle for it in the menu

Your screen shot shows the percentage. Or is that not your screen shot?
No, this is the Screenshot from the opening post, I just circled in the Icon that i meant. In my icon there is no percentage. I could not find a quick way to do a Screenshot and upload it, so i took one from the opening post
now i know what you mean exactly M1cha84.. at this time it is just a battery circle, the circle show only 100, 50 an 0 as percentage in circle...
all other percentages are not displayed.. i work on support for all percentages, but something work wrong so i released this version for now..
Ah, ok that makes total sense. I am currently at 57% and it shows 50...thx for the info. Besides that i have nothing negative to say about this Rom, it works really nice

i have integrated the new 3.0 thrillsKernel, mircophone is working now and you have full access to system.
That means you can uninstall with titaniumbackup or systemtuner for example the unused system apps.
really great and big thanks to nothrills for that feature in the new kernel..

which piccolo-romversion did you had installed? If you use the piccolo_top-version, then it is normal that the system menu is not displayed like that one from the stock. In piccolo_bottom-version it is diplayed like in stockrom.
did you had wipe/data, wipe/cache and wipe/dalvik before you installed the rom?
for me and i think the other too, the keyboard works very well. Special Characters like ÄÖÜ are no problem, simply hold the letter and choose the ÄÖÜ or what you want..
Also you can change in System-->Language the default language of your keyboard...

This is a cleaned Rom, therefore is no other email-app included, only as you said it GoogleMail.
I use for my own allways other email-apps, like k9 or what you like.
You can not restore it, i think because of the 4.2. appmod.

[Q&A] SlimKat Rom

I am starting this thread so all issues related to SlimKat Rom can be documented in one single place. Please post your Questions & Answers in here instead of in the SlimKat Rom Thread, lets try and keep that thread clean.
SlimKat ROM Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511512
All Credit goes to the developers, Please support them for continued development
I will try my best to keep the thread updated and have questions and solutions posted in the first three posts of this Thread:
How to Install SlimKat ROM
Assuming you have already rooted, unlocked boot loader and installed custom recovery. If not there are multitude guides to do so, search in the forum.
Step 1:
Download the following:
Current SlimKat ROM: http://slimroms.net/index.php/downloads/dlsearch/viewcategory/979-hammerhead
Note SlimKat Rom is in beta currently
Current SlimGapps: http://slimroms.net/index.php/downloads/dlsearch/viewcategory/978-addons4-4/downloads/dlsearch
Note Slim Gapps are also in Beta, You can choose to download the full Slimgapps or the minimalgapps thats your choice. You can also download the photosphere addon.
Current SuperSu: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Step 2:
Place the downloaded file onto your nexus 5 using the provided cable, alternatively you can also download the files directly onto your phone using the browser.
Reboot into Recovery
Wipe data/factory reset (required)
Wipe Cache Partition (required)
I also always do the following (optional)
In mounts/ Storage
Format /system (optional)
Format /data (optional)
Format/cache (optional)
These are not necessary but I have made it a habit to do so.
Once you have performed the required resets, select Flash Zip file and flash in the following sequence
Flash SlimKat Rom
Flash SlimGapps
Flash SlimPhotoSphere (optional) Note: Does cause audio lag in recorded video with some kernels also videos are darker after photosphere flash. See Q&A section
Flash Kernel ( optional: only if you want to use a custom kernel)
Flash SuperSu ( I prefer SuperSu, SuperUser does not work properly for Me)
Reboot
Now your good to go and setup your phone.
Step 3: (optional)
~ Note for ART I follow this procedure:
After Flashing, once the phone starts I skip through the setup screen
Go to Settings-> About-> tap on build 7 times to enable developer options
Go to Settings-> Developer Options -> Select Runtime --> Art
Reboot and let it finish what its doing takes 10-15 mins.
Once done setup your phone how you like.
Reserved : Guide To SlimKat Features
Features And Guide
Once I have time I will break down all the slim settings and what they do
Features Not Included
PIE - Can be installed using Xposed Framework
HALO - Can be installed using Xposed Framework
NOTE: Xposed Framework does not play nice with ART, You will need to stick with Dalvik to use Xposed.
Feature Request
I will update this as users request features but please dont request features that can be added via addons such as xposed. There is no point adding those features to the ROM, those who want them can always install via Xposed
Keyboard Automatically Switching to Numeric Keypad when a field requires numbers only

DPI/ Screen Issues
[Q] What are the default DPI's
Stock Kitkat = 480
Stock SlimKat = 361
Lowest DPI working for me = 370
[Q] Water in the Google Maps app is distorted, streaked or all over the place when zoomed out
Its a DPI issue, this is how i resolved it:
Download: Rom Toolbox lite ( Free) from PlayStore
Run app -> Swipe left to switch tab to performance --> click build.prop Editor button
on this new screen-> swipe right to bring out menu on the left side of the screen
First option is LCD density Click that-->change Value to whatever you want --> click ok and reboot
once Rebooted do the following :
Settings-> Apps-> Maps-->clear data, also clear Cache--> Force Close
Open Maps and confirm everything is working.
Some users have been able to get the maps to work properly at 361 DPI, but the lowest value at which it will work for me is 370. Default Stock Kitkat DPI is 480. Default Stock SlimKat DPI is 361
[Q] Everything is too small on default SlimKat, how can i fix that
two solutions:
go into settings-->display-->font-->change font size to make it bigger
change DPI:
Download: Rom Toolbox lite ( Free) from PlayStore
Run app -> Swipe left to switch tab to performance --> click build.prop Editor button
on this new screen-> swipe right to bring out menu on the left side of the screen
First option is LCD density Click that-->change Value to whatever you want --> click ok and reboot
Default Stock Kitkat DPI is 480, stock SlimKat DPI is 361, 400 ~ 420 DPI works best for me
Recovery
[Q] TWRP asking for a password, even though user never setup a password
When TWRP asks for a password, hit cancel.
Then go to Wipe and Factory Reset.
If that doesn't work, then restart your recovery.
If that still doesn't work then try reflashing TWRP again.
Camera
[Q] What is True View in the Camera App
True view is a camera feature to show the whole field of view of the camera.
By default the field of view is stretched and cut on the sides to fit fullscreen.
http://slimroms.net/index.php/faq/slimbean/323-what-is-true-view
[Q] Why is the Camer app Missing HDR+
HDR+ and Photosphere are closed-source. AKA no way to be built from source and must be distributed as an add-on.
Flash photosphere camera if you want HDR+.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48832042&postcount=27
Note: PhotoSphere Addon currently adds a audio lag in recorded videos and recorded Videos are much darker, Read Q&A below about audio lag when photosphere is installed, link for photosphere is in the first post ( Slim gapps/addons)
[Q] Audio Lag in recorded video after Installing Slim PhotoSphere
Flash a different kernel, that will fix the issue
confirmed fixed with trinity.
in Recovery, without wiping:
Flash ROM
Flash Gapps
Flash PhotoSphere
Flash Kernel of choice
Flash SuperSu
Reboot
NOTE: Videos are much darker when Photosphere addon has been installed

[Q] Where are the QuickRecord recordings stored, are they cleared at boot and are they overwritten
/data/data/com.android.systemui/files/
It's never cleared from a reboot, but yes, rewritten each time you record.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48832011&postcount=2577
[Q] Where is the clear all in the recent apps list
Clear all is not there as it is not needed, the list just shows the recently ran apps and provides the means of switching between apps quickly. Android will kill apps when needed there is no need to kill apps
[Q] I have no Mobile Network ( not data but no coverage at all)
This applies to only those who have no mobile network i.e they do not have a signal at all on their device and it does not say no service.
You somehow wiped the radio firmware, That needs to be restored.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2514095
[Q] What is ART and what does it do
If you really need to know what ART is then you should not be using ART.
ART stands for Android Run Time, it is an experimental run time which is being developed by google to replace the current dalvik run time. Once released users would be able to get better performance and better battery life.
Currently, as ART is in experimental stage ( I would say Alpha, not even beta) the benefits of switching to ART are minimal. Not all apps are compatible with ART and most users will not see any performance or battery life improvements.
Thats why google buried it deep into the settings. Use at your own discretion. I suggest staying with Dalvik run time till further progress has been made on ART.

I'm not sure how to get that, I think you have to connect the device to the computer and use something in the SDK to be able to record screen, I could be wrong. Try searching for it. If I find a solution I'll let you know.

I am not sure if and when PIE is implemented if it would include LMT with it therefore i left it out. I believe the xposed framework PIE does have LMT support.
Hope there are enough people here to help me out. I've been using Slim ROMs for a couple years on G-Nex and now Nexus 5. On the last couple releases I've been having issues with Google Maps not getting a GPS fix, or when it does get a fix it's off by nearly a mile. GPS Data, Waze, Gas Buddy, etc. all work fine. After spending nearly a day re-flashing the ROM, app, clearing data, etc., I finally tried another ROM (Purity) and discovered that Google Maps gets a fix in less than 10 seconds and is within 20' accuracy. I used the latest Slim Gapps on Slim 1.95 and the CM Gapps on the Purity ROM. Has anyone had similar problems?

Anyone have any issues with the stock Slim Explorer app. I've never really used it before as I've always been an ES Explorer user but want to switch having the auto toggle TRDS modes. The app loads up but as soon as I scroll the screen the app closes and I get a "Slim Explorer has stopped" message. I've seen it in the past a handful of times I went to change DPI with it before installing ES. I did a complete clean install(ie. manually wiped everything and re-downloaded and re-setup all my apps instead of restoring them with Titanium), sha matches, so I can't think of anything else that could be the issue. Maybe it doesn't agree with Super SU???
Yep, did all that except for the SuperSU bit. I did use SuperSU on the Purity install though but haven't had any problems with the built in Superuser before. I'll nandroid back to the Slim ROM to give it a try. It was with the stock kernel.

I've had issues with super user so always use supersu, but maps has nothing to do with either.
Did u check the settings?
Also sometimes you have to be outside to get a GPS lock,
Also try this:
Settings -> apps-> maps.
Clear data clear cache force close.
Reboot
Go outside and open maps c if that fixes it

OK, but it will be a while - when I went into recovery (TWRP) it asked for a password (which I haven't set) then failed to backup the existing ROM.

I have Super SU installed and working already seeing as I use Faux kernel as well as I've always had issues(even on a SlimBean port on Evo LTE)with Superuser unmounting the system as RW. It's weird. It only happens when I scroll from within the emulated/legacy/0 storage. I can scroll within the device partition and change settings just fine.
Do you use ART??? Only other thing I can think of.
Edit: Added a screenshot to the post as well as a bug report

GUIDE, FAQ and Useful Links
Much of what follows applies to many ROMs. If you have suggestions for things to be added to this guide or find any errors then please let me know.
Purpose and Rules of XDA
XDA is a developers site. It is for learning and sharing. It is not here to "provide" apps or support to users. Most of the people that develop or help or support do so in their free time. No one "owes" you anything. You are not "entitled" to anything. Those that help others, are polite and try to help themselves will be more likely receive helpful and polite assistance.
Rule number one of XDA is : Search
Other rules include:
Be respectful
Be tolerant
Be hepful
Don't be an ass
Q&A or Dev Thread?
The development thread is for development issues, "bug reports", where something clearly doesn't work or doesn't work as intended.
But you should only report on the development thread if you have clean flashed.
A little banter is accepted in the development thread, but please don't turn the thread into a chat room.
The Q&A is more "free". There you can mention issues after a dirty flash, but we might ask you to clean flash if we suspect that may be the problem.
Anything related to third party apps, kernels or gapps should be posted in the Q&A, as should any general questions like where is this option, how do I change that setting, does this ROM have this feature etc.
Flashing
You should clean install for best results. If you "dirty flash" then at least wipe cache and dalvik/ART and you MUST provide logs with any issues.
Clean v Dirty Flash
There are a number of interpretations of clean flash. In recovery you should factory reset or wip everything except internal storage. This will wipe your apps and most app settings.
Whilst there are ways of backing up your settings they are not recommended because they can cause issues when there are changes to the ROM which affect how settings are stored or recorded. Do not restore system data: this often leads to forced closes and constant error messages.
You can use a backup app like Titanium Backup or Parcel. Sometimes restored apps can cause issues, and it is better and cleaner to re-download them, although not everyone has the time or inclination to do this.
If you do not wipe as per above, then you are dirty flashing. This is quicker and often works. But because things are left behind from the previous flash this can result in weird issues. When you dirty flash you really should wipe cache and dalvik/ART, so that there aren't residual
Reporting Issues
Before Reporting Issues
If you have issues with your new flashed system there are a few things to do before you report them.
First, if you have dirty flashed then try a clean flash to see if the issue remains - many issues are cleared this way. Also, it is very difficult to pin-point certain issues after a dirty flash.
Also, if you have Xposed installed then remove that before reporting. This is because Xposed can change things deep within the OS and make things behave differently, which in turn makes it very difficult to troubleshoot and resolve issues. This is Xposed hate - many devs require this and will not offer any support if Xposed is installed.
Reboot. It's surprising how many issues can be resolved by this simple step. Especially if an app is misbehaving or using a lot of battery.
How to Report An Issue
Report them in the Q&A. If relevant they will be promoted to the dev thread or we will inform the devs.
The biggest bugbear of those trying to help with issues is when they are not properly reported and require to have the same questions answered over and over. The circumstances may require different information, but here are a few common items to consider posting:
Version. Often people miss this and are reporting something that was solved days or weeks ago. Others say "latest" when it may not be. Quote the version number and/or build date.
Firmware. Again, quote the date or source.
GApps. The GApps version can affect which version of Google Play Services and PlayStore, amongst others that are used. Whilst often GApps can be "out of date" without any issue, when there is a lot of development by CM this can be very relevant.
Whether you clean or dirty flashed.
A log. Necessary if you dirty flashed, very useful even if you clean flashed. See below for how to do this.
How to replicate the issue. The more specific about how the issue arises and when, the more likely you are to get a quick resolution. If no one can replicate the issue it is unlikely they can resolve the issue.
How to Take a Log
This is an excellent guide.
Some kernels have their own log/bug report option to make things easier.

Frequently Asked Questions
No one answered my question.
Maybe no one has read it yet - you may need to give it time. Maybe no one knows the answer yet. Have you already tried to solve the issue? Were you polite? Did you give enough information? There is no need to keep bumping your post.
Which folder does the OTA file get downloaded to? Is it the full file or just the incremental update? Are there nightlies?
/sdcard/Download and it's the full file. They aren't nightly but they are normally very frequent.
Which firmware / modem should I use?
The latest firmware used by the dev is listed above. There may be newer versions, so see the linked threads for firmware and modems. It's important you read up about what you are flashing at this level and this thread could never be totally up to date. Many people flash the latest CM12 nightly ROM which includes these files.
Does BlissPop support Layers / RRO?
No. It has the CM theme engine.
Can I use Xposed?
Yes. But please don't report issues if you have Xposed. It changes things deep in the OS and needs to be kept patched. Devs can waste days looking for a problem that isn't related to the ROM.
Here are some instructions for installing Xposed from @magnamentis:
a) nandroid
b) flash rom, kernel, gapps & whatever is due or wanted and at the very end "EACH TIME" flash the sdk22.zip provided in links above.
c) boot and install app (xposed apk povided in links above)
d) SOFT-reboot and don't pay attention to the red text indicating that it can only be installed manually. just SOFT-reboot
.... it must be a softy otherwise one could get a failed attemt, have heard and seen various versions but with soft reboot it always works.
e) check the framework state i the xposed app, should be 61 green for app process and 64 green for xposedbridge.jar, both under active.
undre bundled must be triple dashes.
f) only then install modules and check them under modules and SOFT-reboot. albeit from here normal reboot would work, it's still safer to
...do a softy until all is proven to be up and running. this will map out one possible reason for eventual errors which in my case never happened.
g) to uninstall the available uninstaller zip has been reported to work while others say no. so it seems device specific. what you can do ist either revert back to the nandroid you made under a) or if you're using xposed for a while and will likely not want to revert back to an old rom+all version
LOL then you can use the uninstaller.zip available on rovo89's threads and which has been provide many times all over, or you can first uninstall all modules like apps, as well as the xposed app like any other app and then manually remove the following files BEFORE REBOOTING albeit there will most probably be no reason since all works well.
h) manually uninstall/deactivate xposed: remove /data/app/de.robv.android.xposed.installer folder/files in it. should you boot by accident before done or for some reason get into a bootloop ( never happened to me ) you can still boot into recovery and delete the above folder and it's files at least from twrp recovery while other recoveries don't have a file manager as far as i've seen.
Which kernel is best for....?
Stock, Boeffla and ak kernels all get frequent good comments, and there are several other good kernels. So much depends on you: your setup, apps, usage, signal. The list goes on. The real best way to find out is try them for yourself; give each one a few days to settle and you can observe battery usage, smoothness, speed, tweakability etc. But there is no Holy Grail kernel - one that gives the best of everything for everybody. "Performance" and "battery" aren't mutally exclusive, but akernel set up heavily to favour one will almost certainly compromise the other. Kernel governors and hotplugs also have an effect. If you are interested in a kernel, read some of the kernel thread.
One last point. When there are changes from CM the date and commits of a kernel can be important so the kernel and ROM aren't out of sync.
How is Battery Life
This often gets asked, but there is no clear answer that suits everyone. So lets start of by saying the team finds battery life to be very good.
There are however many things affecting battery life. Your apps, settings and signal all have a big effect. As does how often your apps are updating and whether over wifi or mobile data. Additionally, which kernel and it's settings also have an effect. As does screen brightness. Certain social and messaging apps can have a huge drain. How often you flash a new ROM has a big effect too. Ideally, from a battery life perspective, you should allow everything to settle and go through a couple of charge cycles. With the frequency of BlissPop updates I have never achieved this!
So every user will have different battery life and typical screen on time. Make sure when doing comparisons you really do it on a like for like basis.
If you want to investigate battery usage, consider apps like Wakelock Detector (WLD) and Better Battery Stats (BBS) as well as GSAM Battery Monitor. These will often pinpoint where battery is being consumed and what is waking your device. Quite often you will see an app misbehaving which can often be resolved with a simple reboot.

Optimising Your Set up
Floating Window
Notes from @tobitege:
Enable "Development shortcuts" in Developer options
Recents: long-tap on app icon on an app's title bar to get popup, select "Floating mode"
App bar and Omniswitch: long-tap an app to open in floating mode
Notification drawer: long-tap notification then tap new floating icon to open app in floating window
Baseband/Firmware/Modem
If you have come from KitKat, Oxygen etc you are likely on the "wrong" firmware and modem. There are several threads around XDA showing various options. @tobitege details the suggested firmware in his update posts, as well as the link above. But here is a simple one-size-fits-all, once only solution:
Backup your apps and app data using Titanium Backup. A nandroid backup is also advised.
Ensure you are on TWRP 2.8.6.0. Some of the later versions have some issues that can affect the success of this process.
Download and clean flash a recent CM nightly. No need for GApps or anything else. This will update various "partitions" including firmware and modem.
Boot. No need to set anything up, just reboot back to recovery.
Clean flash BlissPop and GApps.
Enjoy!

Sometimes these display as white on white. A quick fix is using a dark or transparent theme.
Go to Settings, Bliss interface, Heads up and change custom colors. You could tap the reset button to reset to Android colors.
Uninstalling Viper4Android
From the official Viper4Android thread:
Notes:
- the driver uninstallation may take a minute, do not force close it
- remove apk via TitaniumBackup as it is a system app
- reboot

I've been looking around but i can't find out how to do it. Otherwise this is quite possibly the best ROM so far!

Developers already know about this issue and working on fix. Try to take simcard out the phone only for test and see if the systemui crashes as well.
Hi, can we use franco kernel on this rom ?
Thanks

Rotation just stopped working. Anyone else have this issue? Can't watch a video in landscape. Thought maybe it was DPI related, but restored my pre-DPI change backup and same results. Going nuts over this.

That is low look at mine on stock kernel in main OP.
Is there a way to customize or disable the popup heads up notification in Android 5 version of this mod?
