All of our kernels, except for the modded kb5 by krylon use .qmg files for boot animation. If you want to use a bootanimation.zip... Use the modded kb5 kernel. Read the thread and make sure its good, i havent tried it. As far as adb is concerned, just push thw .qmg or .zip to /system/media... I think.
I just mafe a flashable kb5 modded kernel thst will allow bootanimation.zip. Postinf in a few. New thread.

I'd wait for a stable of the new ROM trigger. It's on KD1 (latest build) and will support Boot animations, but right now it's really beta and in testing.
That's what I'll probably do depending on how it works out. Since yes currently modified KB5 is the only kernel supporting custom bootanimation.zip's

So if I complied a .qmg file for the boot animation I could just go in and swap that one out for the default one. do you happen to know how to compile a .qmg file? I've never heard of that extension until now.

I think the short answer is, it won't work. Pretty sure I've read you need proprietary software to create .qmg's. Samsung has it pretty well locked down in their stock kernels; thus the modded kernels that can use bootanimation.zip files (of which only the KB5 is currently available).
Might be some more info on this thread.

You mean the bootanimaton? Yes. It has to be kernel enabled though. Read about it in the apps forum there is a thread containing info regarding it.

I think he's talking about the notification area. And yes you probably can but I don't know whet to find that. Its probably in systemui.apk but I don't know if its text or an image. If its text it means decompiling classes.dex making changes to the Java source code and compiling a new classes.dex
If you know Java good enough you can probably make it do anything.
Also the boot animation would probably work from an sgs or sgs2 with the stock kernel if you want to totally de brand the phone. If you want completely custom a kernel that supports bootanimation.zip can play all kinds of boot animations.
You can change if to whatever you want using mini with es settings. :-}

I don't know what qmg stands for. But anyway yea I download some boot animations already from they theme store. So the Samsung proprietary files mean that what's on the standard build?

there is no making custom ones, you can replace it with one from a different samsung phone like a galaxy s though. that is why the devs have baked bootanimations.zip support into the custom kernels.. the .qmg format doesnt leavce too many options.

Yeah if you search around theres a few tutorials on how to do it for Samsung devices. It's not as simple as dropping a new animation in if your Rom and kernel don't alrdy support it. But its a pretty easy mod.

Acura2201 Meta-Inf

Sorry for my English
Hello.
Here I leave the Meta-Inf included in my last ROM ICS V3.
This Meta-Inf and no need to use images of the system, you can now use the traditional format Recovery, we can use folders. Now you can make your own compilations of Android.
Now you can enter the system folder format App
I do not have to be an image.
Remember
The maximum partition size in ICS System is 720MB.
Do not exceed this size or you'll have problems or instability.
Greetings to All.

There is no problem tomorrow I am going to raise ROM to XDA.
With regard to the META-INF it is alone for developers. What it does is ROMS allows to install in format folder, and not in an image.
