It would help if u tell us how you are flashing, rom manager or cwm. What rom are you comming from. Also how you got the rom. Did u download it on your computer and then transferring it through mounting storage I'm cwm because I know that causes a lot of problems.

It sounds like the install script is using an older type of scripting which CWM no longer uses.

Exactly which Bionix are you trying to flash?

Thanks Bork, never knew that. That was actually interesting to read how android used to be. (First android was this phone)

Cwm not working on 2.3.6 properly

Whenever I try to install a zip file in cwm, it says the installation has been aborted. And I know the zip file is a good one. Why isn't it reading my files?
I currently use rom manager and cwm 2.5.1.2 runs by default. At the bottom of the application, it offers to change the cwm edition. it offers 2.5.1.4, 2.5.1.3, and 2.5.1.1. When I select 1.4 or 1.3 it can not be downloaded. For 1.1 it can be, but when I boot into recovery, it only runs 2.5.1.2, which does not load any zip files. Do you think there might be a difference if I tried to download the touch cwm recovery? Or is there an entirely differnt recovery to use? I'd be Willing to pay a few dollars.
Also, when I open cwm, it says there is an update for clockwork mod recovery, but have no clue on how to actually update cwm.
Thanks

Go to ROM Manager and click on the top option. Pick i9000 to update your CWM.
I did try that and every time I do... it says the installation has been aborted. It makes it about 1/3 of the way on the progress bar then it is aborted for some odd reason.
All I want is to be able to flash

Why use Rom Manager at all? You could just use Heimdall to flash an unsecured kernel with CWM built into the one-click package. The first 2 posts in this thread will tell you how:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
I have read that maybe flashing a new kernel would solve the cwm issues. Just not sure exactly where to Get a decent one. I have the app sgs kernel flasher to help simplify the process as long as i have the kernel on my phone.
I'm new to the flashing sort, but have gotten used to cwm and don't want to abandon it. I have been success with it on other devices... just not with this infuse on 2.3.6

Entropy's dd kernel should work fine. There's a heimdall one-click for it too.

Is it red Cwm? Was it red? You need to get back to red if not.

I flashed entropy's kernel and cwm is now red. And by red, I'm assuming the letter colors?
It didn't say "error installation aborted" when I booted into cwm, which is a good sign. Haven't tried to flash a rom yet though. Pretty sure it will work now
Thanks

Have you tried installing GooManager and getting it through there? Otherwise, I installed a CM JB ROM just now on my Skyrocket using TWRP and that worked fine (I had been using CWM up to this point).
I did a simple search of "GT-I9000 CWM Recovery" and was linked to Cyanogenmod's wiki here.. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
:cyclops:
I have tried this, but it's not working. The heindal program is not reading the kernel file.

GT-I9000 CWM Recovery should have worked
tried the step on the recent post and worked for me too.....
You can download ROM Manager from the Play Store. It has an option built in to download and flash CWM.

Frankenstein 3.8 Rom busybox problem

Apps that need busybox always request me to install busybox
When i install it either i get an error saying could not be installed or it installs but then restarts my phone and gets me stuck in a bootloop. Any help? Thanks.

It happens when u update the su binary. Always used to happen when I was on Frankenstein ROM 3.8 I dunno how to revert it though.

How do I update to the latest CWM?

I installed ROM manager but when it asks what version I have the only choices are 2 and 3+. I have 6.0.1.1 I think. I read that the latest version stops the creation of duplicate 0 folders when factory resetting.

I went for version 3+

Basically what it is really asking you is what scripting language to use to interface with recovery. They changed it from CWM 2 to CWM 3.

Try PhilZ Touch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202667, a CWM based recovery, touch based but you can disable the touch capability anytime.
