not sure waht your after mate to get back to stock just download the firmware from asus extract it once and put on the root of your tablet, then boot into recovery and wipe it the flash the stock firmware.

What's the method to get to recovery? I haven't installed cw yet but it should have stock recovery, right?

Yep it will have stock recovery mate, but for custom recovery you need to unlock your bootloader mate

Should I keep my transformer stock

I just picked up my transformer tf300 yesterday, it is an amazing tablet. I'm just wondering if I should root and flash custom roms or keep it stock. And if i do want to root and flash what are some things i need to know before i do. I have experience with my HTC hd2 but i know Android native devices are almost completely different

just my opinion
dive right in,
root - look for the debugfs thread and the process is automated for you
it does not require you to use the unlock tool, so you will retain your warranty
you'll also want to install busybox
and either superuser or Supersu from market place
currently there's a rom currently based on stock which is awesome,
incredibly fast
it's night and day difference
After you've rooted, if you want to flash custom roms
use the asus unlock tool
then install goo manager from the market place - it has an option to install TWRP recovery
reboot and make a backup
then flash away, any rom you like
i recommend flashing seamzscreams rom, it's buttery smooth plus it's based off the stock. 30 build.

Ill be rooting then thank you

If you plan on rooting I recommend you installing cwm recovery and keep a copy of the asus .30 firmware on your internal sd card. This way you can return to stock if you dont like what the custom rom offers. None of the recoveries can read the ext sd card at this time and you can only flash the stock firmware with cwm.
What about that twrp recovery it can't flash stock roms?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
It can't flash the stock Asus ROM. It just hangs. It flashes the custom stock ROM fine, though.
If you root/unlock, do you need an extra SD card to save a backup with from either CWM or TWRP?
Noob obv.
Can cwm install custom roms as well?

CWM should be able to flash custom ROMs. However, some folks have had trouble using CWM to flash seanzscreams' ROM and had to use TWRP to flash it. Until either recovery fully stabilizes, you should be prepared to switch recoveries back and forth depending on which ROM you flash or when restoring backups. And you should always keep an extra ROM to flash on your internal storage just in case since neither recovery supports external storage yet.
Unless you have some specific app you really want/need root for, why do it?
Soo, twrp would be more reliable and if anything goes wrong I'll switch to cwm and flash stock firmware
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
I couldn't get seanz rom to work with clockwork either i had to use twrp as well. Not a big deal but now I have both on my tablet.
If you unlock use seanz rom it's incredibly fast.

Well I want to overclock , and having titanium back up would be nice
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Well then all you need to do is root. Use sparkies root tool it makes things super easy. I got mine to overclock to 1.5ghz with ez overclock but you must apply it after each boot.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app
Link to sparkies tool would be nice, and have you noticed any stability issues when overclocked?

Since QC issues are rampant with TF300T, I'm gonna stay stock + root for the first year. I have a feeling it'll need to eventually get sent in for repairs.

These are my thoughts exactly. I will stay stock and rooted unless a really smooth JB ROM gets released and I cant stand waiting for the official one.

Just got a Tf300, should I update?

I just got a tf300 and it keeps telling me to do the update. Should I take the update or would this make it harder to flash etc?

that depends.
if you only want to root it but keep stock firmware and recovery, you should do it now before updating. as long as you are on version .17 you can use sparky root to root, OTA root keeper to backup root, update, use OTA root keeper to restore Root and enjoy.
if you want to Flash ROM's and stuff, you can do whatever you like. you will have to unlock the bootloader and as far as i can tell, that is supposed to work on any software version as long as it is ICS. unlock, flash recovery, flash your ROM of choice.

So if I want to flash stuff it won't matter? Most ROMs will come rooted, so then do the update?

You can update and still root on the latest firmware. I got mine and updated out of the box and was able to root it easily. I don't know why someone is saying you need to be on .17

Ok so there's no way to do it without unlocking the bootloader using the asus utility?

Even if you update to .30, you could always root it via Debugfs method.

Use motochopper, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228613
That method works for TF300T on Android 4.1 and 4.2.1.
Good Luck!

No way that I know of to work around a locked bootloader. It needs to be unlocked in order to flash a recovery like CWM or TWRP.

install the blob from the stock ROM via fastboot
What would the command be?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Just use:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash *LOCATION OF YOUR ROM*
Ok Im really lost im not sure what i should type for location i just know its my C drive

Take the stock ROM, extract the *.blob file. Copy that to your fastboot folder.
Restart your tablet and go to fastboot.
Now in CMD, type:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob.blob
It will take about ~300 seconds if you did it right.
I did that but something with erase cache and update etc so im lost again lol

Oh your unlocked? Then just take the updated Stock ROM and flash it in TWRP. Then you will have to use fastboot to flash TWRP again because the stock ROM will delete it.
