APN Settings Won't Save/Airplane Mode issue...Bad modem? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I'm having issues with my phone. Yesterday realized I was not getting any data or cell service. Took a look at my APN settings and noticed that nothing was in the APN settings. I have been trying to reset those with the correct settings and when I click on Save they won't save back to hte list...nothing saves. Also, having issues toggling the Airplane Mode ON and OFF.
Any ideas what the issue could be? This has happened with both CM9 ROM and AOKP ROM..have reflashed, rebooted, etc to no avail. Could this be an issue with the modem? How do I reinstall that if need be?
Thanks for the help!

Try wiping system, cache, dalvik, do a factory reset then reinstall the rom. Flash a padded modem too

Thanks for your response. I've done the wipes, factory reset, and reflashed the ROMs to no avail
Not sure I know what a padded modem is or where to get it? Any guidance on that step would be appreciated!
Thanks

[Q] No Wifi after flashing CM9

I flashed CM9 on my tablet (the one in the developer section) and have since moved back to ICS. However, after moving back to ICS (restoring backup), my wifi doesn't work. If I go to WiFi in settings it says "Turning wi-fi on..." and never does turn on. I've tried clearing out the cache/dalvik cache and using superwipe to get rid of it, but it still didn't do anything? Has anyone else run into this situation or have suggestions for possible fixes?

Same happened to me after trying out CM9 and going back to stock ROM via nandroid restore. All the symptoms was just like yours. Did all the same thing like wipe cache, dalvik cache ect.
Finally I just flashed the ICS rooted ROM I was using again without wipe and it worked again. No lost of data since I didn't wipe.
I have had a similar issue. Every now and then (particularly at home with my wireless) I am able to see the connection but not connect to it. I have tried turning wifi off and on, rebooting the tablet, the only thing that works is unplugging the router and plugging it in. It has only happened since ICS and once I plug the router in it connects......

I will give this a shot when I get back home. Thanks for the reply.
Okay, I am having this problem every time I leave and come home. I cannot connect (in Wifi it shows the network and shows that it is saved with Webkey, but I cannot connect). I have to unplug the router each time.......

Help! Lost settings after tweaked 2.0

So I flashed Tweadked 2.0 last week with the Stock FP1 Kernel and LOVE it. However, after a couple of days I tried to go into settings from my menu and I got a message saying that the app was not available. I went into the app drawer and the settings icon was gone also. I tried recovering it from Titanium, and when it went to install, it gave me a error and said the app was unable to be installed. Finally I did a wipe of the phone and reflashed Tweaked and all was well, until today when settings disappeared again. Anybody having a similar issue? If so, any easier fixes that wiping the phone?
Thanks in advance. I'd post this in the developer's forum, but as you can see I am only up to 3 or 4 posts.
You could try flashing the ROM over the top in cwm. Just go into recovery and mount /system and then flash without wiping anything. Try that and see if that will work.

Flashing over Tweaked worked!
I was scared to do it because of dwitherell's warnings about making sure to wipe the phone before or after flashing.
Thanks a million.
I plan to make no mods to see if it happens again.

That disclaimer only applies when coming from a different rom.
Thanks for the info on wipe with a NEW ROM. Now I don't have to live in fear

Need urgent help.

Okay so I am running CM10 stable on i9023. Its been fine for like a month I think with just a couple of reboots. But today I have been getting reboot whenever I turn on bluetooth. Its a very ugly situation where upon boot the phone reboots again as soon as trying to turn on bluetooth. I then clear dalvik cache and cache to make it work again. However it seems like I really am stuck now it just wont boot anymore.
I have tried clearing cache again but it still wants to turn on bluetooth and reboots. Even took out the battery for several minutes but to no avail.
My titanium backup is a bit old so please what should I do here that doesnt require data reset?
Does nandroid backup also restore those apps which were moved to SD card?? Would it even solve the situation here?
Thanks.
Okay I finally got it running again but what do I do about the bluetooth problem now? I am scared even touching bluetooth now but I really need it from time to time. :S
So everything was fine for a few hours then I decided to do a normal reboot and bam I get the bootloop again. Something has seriously got messed up I guess.
Please anyone what would you suggest me?
Do a factory reset from recovery. If that still fails, flash the factory images and see if everything works.

Did factory reset and everything is working fine so far including bluetooth. I just wish it doesnt happen again or I'll be really put off by CM.

Had you installed something just before the problem started? I'm also on CM10 and make extensive use of bluetooth, so you just scared me

How can you blame CM for that? Or any rom for that matters?
You had multiple reboots, the early ones which might have be caused by something unrelated to the rom, and the later ones something was probably corrupted. If data was being written when it rebooted on you, it's no wonder you'll have problems...

Well my bluetooth is now working fine after a factory reset.
Infact yes I did install/uninstall this app a few days ago but I suppose I cant be sure about blaming it for it.

It wasnt the first time CM rebooted on me, stock rom on the other hand was very stable.
And then this whole mess happens.
only had some bugs with newer nightlies.
reflashing the rom w/o factory reset did the job

New sim?

When using wifi my Internet speed is great but if I use the Verizon network my phone stumbles around and is really slow to download Web pages or any data. Could a new sim card possibly fix this issue? S - offed, unlocked and rooted with stock recovery. Thanks.

No. A factory reset using stock recovery on a stock Rom could though.
Thanks for the feedback. A factory reset is a nightmare for me, I have a ton of work things on my phone that took forever to be able to not only install but also get to operate properly. Any other suggestion short of a factory wipe?

Nope. Specifically, stock recovery resets certain radio settings that can cause radio problems.
There's no way to just reset the radio? Not meaning to be a pain but damn it's a pain in the butt to redo everything after a factory reset.

That's correct. You have the HTC backup app? That does apps/texts/email accounts/desktop layout and more.

No service or data Verizon with custom roms

I've been beating my head against the wall trying to figure this out. So the phone was brand new, it worked with Verizon on stock rom. Now that I have a custom rom the service nor the data will work with Verizon (wifi and all other features work.) I've installed a few roms and none work. I've tried with and without Gapps. Still nothing.
It is a Motorola Moto G7, not Play or Power.
I've tried changing network settings to everything available, tried changing APN settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can verify whether or not your IMEI is intact?
Just to be certain, when you flashed your ROM, did you factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing the ROM?
Did you wipe the system partition before fladhing the ROM? This is sometimes necessary to avoid issues in the newer ROM.

Thank you for the response! Sorry for the delay I had to go out of town and didn't have the phone, I wanted to check everything and such prior to responding.
The IMEI looks to be intact, not sure how to tell it's not? I'm pretty sure I factory reset and wiped everything. I don't think I did the system partition. I can't remember.
This information might help as well. It seems to be something with 4GLTE. My mobile data will only show 3G (and it don't work). Once when in the Mobile settings while inserting the SIM I seen VOLTE pop up, had a full signal, then it disappeared, went to some other settings and the signal dropped as well.
