Hi All, I have just flashed the RemICS ROM 1.3 and i have followed the set of directions for Gingerbread users, which I previously was. The installation had been successful until I did the final Reboot, where it loops back into the Recovery mode even after numerous of re-flash and reboots. I'm pretty sure the ROM is installed, yet it would not load into the OS, thoughts? Thanks everyone in Advance.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523 I had the option C installed initially, for everyone's info.

Finally got my ICS working now. Can't thank you enough for qkster Heimdall One Click Gingerbread ROM.
For everyone's reference, the following is what I've done;
1) Flashed the Heimdall One Click GB Stock rom, a big thanks to qkster,
2) Flashed the CWM Recovery just under the same thread,
3) Flashed the RemICS rom with factory wipe and formatting data, system and cache, again after reboot.
4) >Bootlooped at the SAMSUNG screen,
5) Followed the solution of bootlooping under the RemICS thread and flashed Heimdall GB Stock again,
6) Flashed Clockworkmod again,
7) Installed RemICS rom again (Step 3) & WORKING LIKE A CHARM NOW!
I suspect my initial problem was caused by internal conflicts between the Rooted ROM and ICS, yet it is not evident nor I'm experienced to make such conclusion. Anyway, glad that my Infuse is finally able to run on Ice Cream Sandwich and I really dont care about what had caused the problem prior.
Big Thanks to rkkaranrk and qkster.
Post sent to dev thread of this ROM, just hang tough, tell the storm troopers arrive....

Gb bootloaders would not cause this problem...it only causes rainbow...I've had this happen to me countless times when I was porting Roms back when I had an infuse...I just came to the conclusion the the ics recovery is buggy and is borked easily
The fix, flash back to stock via heimdal or Odin, then get cwm recovery and flash the Rom using gingerbread instructions (double flash) (unless you flash the ics kernel...in that case one flash)
If you want detailed instructions on flashing or getting gb bootloaders (in case you have rainbow recovery) then check out my infinitum port thread (in my signature) at the bottem of the OP you will find some good instructions...I wouldn't reccomend flashing it though as it is old and doesn't have the latest fixes...but the flashing instructions are still good

I had faced this same issue last night when I was trying to flash REM ics on my friends phone and it don't have the GB boot loaders I tried to flash the recovery from the OP and after flashing recvery I was not able to RAF anything the fonts were so tiny and were in pink color.
After all this I flashed it back to lb3 thanks to Scott and from there I flashed it again and this time lost recovery was not able get the phone to recovery, So finally I decided to flash the GB BL with heimdall (thanks to qkster) flashed stock one more time with BL ticked and the REM ICS, All good.

The bootloaders fixed the rainbow recovery, what fixed your whole problem was that you flashed stock...so you pretty much killed two birds with one stone, you fixed your rainbows and you fixed your soft brick...
The pink recovery you referred to is known as rainbow recovery

Mate u missed the part i said i flashed stock twice first time with out the BL and then with the BL, When i flashed stock without the BL and from there when i flashed REM i lost recovery so and flashed again with the BL this solved.
I had read all aver that BL does not mess with flashing only gives u messed recovery on ICS and rainbow boot but i don't know how this worked for my friends phone.
Edit: i know how rainbow recovery looks like but the fonts are still in blue color but in this case the blue fonts were pink in color and were too small if the normal size of the font say 10 then the size in this recovery was like 2/3.

Yes i have flashed the original stock gingerbread (the one listed in the OP) back onto my infuse last night. The phone is working flawlessly at this moment under the stock GB.
And the ICS Rom was flashed twice everything worked, cache cleared, factory reset, no rainbow, and the only problem was recovery looping. Im considering reflashing the rem ICS rom sometime soon but i doubt I'd see any difference, any chance i can get ICS working? Thanks for all the above replies

RemICS kernal question
I am currently using version 1.3 on my infuse. I have noticed that the past couple of days that the phone seems to be slowing down and doing soft reboots every once in awhile. I have gone through and deleted a bunch of apps and moved some to my sdcard and it has gotten faster, however I still have some slow downs and reboots, especially when coming back to the homescreen after exiting an app (It seems to take a few seconds to redraw the homescreen) or if an app locks up. I also have RemICS version 1.3.1 on my Captivate and it has a different kernel (Devil Kernel). I was wondering if there was a version of this kernel that would work with the Infuse as my Captivate seems to be rock-steady and fast. I have not overclocked or messed with the memory settings on the Infuse, but I have noticed that no matter what Rom I use on it (even stock Gingerbread loaded by ATT repair center), it seems to slow down and mess up over time. RemICS so far has seemed to last the longest and I would like to keep it going smoothly. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

yes it happens with me when i flash ics over gb and after every thing phone just struck up in blue recovery it happens coz some previous system files sometimes not completely deleted, dont worry just do following as what i do.
search and download infuse toolkit v1.10 and when u got in bootloop in cwm just flash this toolkit from cwm and follow the instructions till option full wipe or complete wipe after that it will again boot up in cwm recovery now wipe cach system and again install ur rom.

be positive, you can get ICS running in no time. follow our directions and you shouldnt come up with any complications
1. wipe data, cache, and dalvik
2. flash remICS
3. after reboot you will be stucked at samsung. pull out the battery and place it back in
4. enter recovery with 3 finger combo (vol up & down, and power). release power when samsung appears
5. flash rom again, and reboot
hopefully you should now see your phone booting up into ICS

Thanks for the tip and I have made 3 more attempts today, which all failed. I have returned to the stock rooted GB as mentioned at the initial thread each time to return to a working OS. I have recorded my last attempt of the day throughout the duration, including the method you have mentioned. I'll list what I have done in short below;
youtube.com/watch?v=RGCEkRVlHog (Unable to embed links, my apologies for any inconvenient)
1. Factory Format, Wipe Cache, Wipe Delvik Cache,
2. Flash rom from internal SD,
3. Advance > Reboot Recovery,
4. Flash again after re-enter Recovery,
5. Boot-looped as expected, thus flashed Infuse Toolkit v1.1,
6. Wipe Cache and Complete Wipe,
7. Quit and automatic reboot,
8 -Stuck at Cyanegen Mod Screen, wont enter Recovery Mod again-, no matter what i do. I tried pulling battery out and reboot into recovery, stuck anyhow.
Then I entered Odin and flashed stock GB back and my phone is working fine. Please point out any missing steps or mistakes to the installation. I suppose it's a conflict with the internal SD rather than system error, welcome to any suggestions. Again, thanks for all the replies so far. Anything is appreciated!
ps: I will give other Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs a shot this weekend, hope the above would not occur on the other roms. :/
Don't use the reboot option from recovery and did u tried downloading the ROM file again.

Sorry for the late update, but no luck for any other ICS roms available for infuse. All ended up the same, blue recovery bootlooped.
I'm wondering if there's any way that I can wipe all the data, including the stuff on internal SD like an ultimate factory reset with only the running ROM left so I can do a clean ICS flash? Thanks all.

It is possible that reboot recovery while in cwm got you in this recovery loop.
There may be a misc recovery img created.
You have to delete that misc with a prepare cwm-flashable script.
On the infuse, mounting usb in cwm doesn't work.
If you can get at it in adb, this command may work:
C:\> adb shell erase_image misc
You will have better luck in factory/data reset in cwm.
Put the phone in DL mode.
Odin or Heimdall back to stock with repartition and start over.
This time around, remember not to reboot into recovery while in cwm
I had the OP's exact issue when I upgraded from CM7 to remics last week. I was running froyo bootloaders and LB's CM7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195525) with whatever kernel came with that (it had blue CWM).
I followed the instructions for "coming from Gingerbread" in the original remics thread (before it was updated this week) and I ran into OP's *exact* problem with looping back into recovery. I got on the #infuse4g IRC and got help from Aerema(sp?) and entropy. I learned some new things and tried everything they suggested (a lot of which I'm reading in this thread)... but none worked for me.
To get to the point, in the end... and I know this doesn't seem to make sense, but what worked for me was using Odin to "return to stock", then flashing the kernel from the remics package and flashing remics.
I had been using qkster's Heimdall OneClick return-to-stock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081). Heimdall always worked and didn't report any problems. I even used heimdall command line interface when I upgraded from froyo to gb bootloaders.
To this day, I don't understand why using Odin return-to-stock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705260) got me out of the recovery loop.
I *think* my upgrade path went like this.
Starting with CM7Kang/froyo BL
1) download remics1.3.zip, followed instructions exactly & flashed remics1.3.zip from blue CWM.
2) rebooted, ROM worked just fine but had rainbow recovery.
3) attempted qkster's heimdall OneClick GB BL upgrade (update bootloader checkbox). It failed.
4) updated to GB bootloader using heimdall command line (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24901128&postcount=3)
5) ** recovery loop ** seemingly tried everything from double-flashing kernel-only using heimdall command line to reverting back to stock (heimdall), format /system, Infuse Toolkit, etc and so on.
6) used ODIN return-to-stock and from there the upgrade went perfectly.
I, too, would like to express my gratitude to bradman117 and everyone else involved in making this ROM available to the general public. I'm really liking it. Nice to have ICS on a > 1 yr old device. Thanks to those who still visit the #infuse4g IRC chan as well.
TL;DR - I had to use the Odin return-to-stock to fix recovery looping, even though Heimdall return-to-stock appeared to be doing everything correctly.
Problem Solved.

I've been unable to flash CM9 without getting stuck in boot, no matter what I try. I rooted before the OTA upgrade to ICS, and was never able to upgrade.
I was going to use CWM to do a factory reset and try to update to ICS before trying again. I have backed up to the internal and an external SD card, but I wanted to be sure that doing a factory reset with CWM wouldn't make me lose root or clockwork mod. Every tutorial or FAQ I've read fails to suggest. It wouldn't be a big issue to re-root if the reset works, but I'm worried it will suffer the same problems as I'm having with CM9, and I'll be unable to boot into recovery.
sounds like the OTA removed root. this is not uncommon but not sure for your phone.

No, I still have root. The OTA didn't work. Titanium backup works, as does tethering.
I just want to know if resetting with CWM will let me go back if it doesn't work.

The OTA didn't work because u don't have strock recovery. make a backup, flash stock recovery, flash OTA. If OTA doesn't work, flash back custom recovery and restore backup. You'll want to restore custom cam anyway, so there's that

Right now you have cwm recovery. He wants you to flash the stock Samsung recovery. I'm pretty sure there is a link in one of Vincom's stickies.
Why don't you just Odin stock 4.0.4, flash cwm in Odin and then flash cm9 in cwm?

I'm on CMW 5.0.2.7.
I was trying the one I linked to because it seemed simpler and because I knew I could get into recovery mode with CWM. I was paranoid that reverting to stock with Odin would leave me with a boot loop and no CMW to restore from.
I suppose Odin to flash CWM worked last time, when I rooted the phone in the first place, and you guys seem to know what you're talking about, so I'll try that tomorrow.

First, flash sk8's cwm 6.0.1.2 in your current cwm recovery. Reboot. Go back into recovery (it will now be the updated recovery) try one more time to get cm9 running. Wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvik, format/data, format/system, format/cache all x3. (Format/ is under mounts and storage. Dalvik cache is in advanced). Then flash ROM, followed by radio (if you aren't already on an ICS radio), and gapps. When you are done let the phone sit for a good 10 minutes as the cache's need to build and the first boot always takes much longer. It may be your outdated cwm that is holding you back. Try this first and if you still are boot looped then Odin back to stock

When I wipe dalvik cache, an error comes up "E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
I assume this is because I don't have an external SD card in.
Installing CM9 after all those wipes and formats failed.
"Assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")=="SGHI727" ||getprop("ro.build.product")
Has similar things for "SGHI727", "hercules", "and "skyrocket".
Looks like it's looking at the zip files for CM9, the radio, and the near stock rom I mentioned earlier.
So instead I flashed the near stock rom, will follow with the ICS radio/modem from the same source.
I also hadn't waited 10 minutes previously.
Anyway, that worked, I now have ICS at least. I'm going to hold off on flashing CM9 for the moment.
Your problems are with cwm 5.0.2.7 and then flashed a current ROM.
Flash cwm as stated above, version 6 from recovery, format system data and caches, then flash whatever ROM you want.
1. Copy cwm v6 to your sdcard
2. From your current cwm recovery install the new cwm 6
3. Reboot back into recovery, should now be version 6
4. Format system data and both caches
5 then flash your favorite rom

If you are still on froyo bootloaders and do not want rainbows on your recovery once on ICS, you must flash GB Bootloaders. Have in mind a bad bootloader flash will brick your phone, so do this at your own risk and with extreme caution.
Heimdall One-click Back-To-Stock UCLB3
Flash once, leave the program open, enter download mode and flash once again, but with "Flash Bootloaders" ticked on.
Bootloaders only -- Use PDA slot.
*Only flash this if you are confident about your Odin/Heimdall connection*
INSTALLATION
Download all Roms and gapps you will be flashing and place them on your internal SD.
If you are already on ICS, skip over to II).
I) GB to ICS
*There are 2 ways of reaching ICS (blue recovery) to then flash JB. Follow the method you feel more comfortable with*
Method A:
1. Boot to Red CWM Recovery
2. Make a nandroid backup (Optional)
3. Wipe Data, Cache & Dalvik Cache
4. Format System
5. Flash ICS Rom
6. Reboot system (not recovery)
7. Phone will hang; hold vol+, vol- & power, and release power when you see the samsung logo to enter recovery.
8. Wipe Data, Cache & Dalvik Cache
9. Flash ICS Rom
10. Reboot
Method B:
1. Run this One-Click ICS Recovery
2. Boot into Download Mode, and Flash
3. Phone will hang; hold vol+, vol- & power, and release power when you see the samsung logo to enter recovery.
Once it boots into ICS, turn off and remove your external sdcard before you move on to flashing JB .
(The MTD conversion tends to go wrong if it is attempted while an ext-sd is inserted)
II) Flashing JB
1. Boot into Recovery
2. Wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik
3. Format System
4. Flash JB Rom
*The 1st time you flash JB, your phone should reboot twice since it is now converting your phone to MTD file system.*
*continue once the recovery main screen appears.*
5. Flash JB Gapps
6. Reboot
First boot should take a few minutes, so wait patiently and don't freak out.

Sometimes, one of the painful thing of helping others is messing up your phone or your setup in the process.
Another suggestion I have is if you're still enthusiastic about it, you can also make a YouTube video of the process. Some people can't read.
Ex: show your phone running fine. Odin to stock or Heimdall with BL flash. Heimdall-1click Gb kernel or Jscott tar for cwm. Then CM9. Then JB/CNA/Paranoid etc.
You could put this link in op.

I have a question. I have a Samsung Infuse phone that is currently on Stock Samsung OEM GingerBread that was released via AT&T. Do I just need to root it and then upgrade to ICS? Or do I need to do something different with it being the stock GB?
I was able to go from Froyo to JB CM10 v2.12 without any issues on my other phone, but I had heard it is a little more complicated if the OEM AT&T Samsung GB was installed.
Thanks for the guide!

Yes you only need to upgrade to ICS, then JB.
Flash Entropy's dd kernel with heimdall to get root and cwm. From there just follow the steps on the guide.

whats the best procedure to revert from jellybean back to ics, jellybean has been very buggy since installed, camera and video force closes more than id like. my infuse started as froyo, from there i went to gb (flashed gb bootloaders) then to ics and finally jb cna nightly. how can i go back to ics, or do i have to go all the way back to froyo stock?
is there a more stable jb i could try first with non buggy video and camera?

Go back to stock (GB) and move on up the the ICS of your choice.
ok so long story short i tried to flash my samsung infuse 4g with a rom from this website (ROM][Jellybean] CNA 3.5.0 for Samsung Infuse [PORT] ) i used to have froyo 2.2. all was well and then my phone just stopped working and wouldnt pass boot screen. but i saved my old rom's data with clockworkmod on my sd card. the thing is there are like 5 .tar files and i want to know if i can recover my old rom using odin since i cant even get passed the boot screen??? pls someone help me i'm freaking out, ive been googleing all night and i'm totally burnt out. the files i have are .android_secure.vfat.tar, cache.rfs.tar, data.rfs.tar, efs.rfs.tar, nandroid.md5 and system.rfs.tar...... pls someone show me how to fix my phone
thanks in advance
Don't think you can flash those files, but you should be able to go back to stock.

Follow these instructions. I would use the zip that takes you back to stock with root.
Keep one thing in mind.....you CANNOT go from Froyo to JB.

Lack of reading/research caused your error :/
Anyways go back to stock with heimdall.or Odin, get red cwm again and you should be able to restore your backups
If you want to go to jb in the future....then you must first follow go to ics, then jb...you have to have ics before you can flash gb

thanks again to all the comments, yes this was a big Noob mistake, i guess i was just way to excited to jump on the JB wagon. i have since returned to stock froyo using one of the kernals from this site (Stock_Root-Mod3e-UCKD5_Odin), so this is what i have now... although a little phased i still want to give this a second attemp. the rom i wanted to flash was [ROM][JellyBean] CNA 3.5.0 / Nightly 9/20 for Samsung Infuse [PORT]....
just to get things straight so i don't mess up again, i have to flash froyo with ics (is there a specific ics version i should get? on a how to guide on flashing jb i found this info: Entropy512's CM9 Kernel / Blue CWM Recovery 2012.05.02-ODIN-Entropy-CM9-zImage.rar) can i use this one, i prefer odin b/c i've never used heimdall. then after i flash ics then i can flash to jb.... but reading some threads i saw that....
"Currently on stock Froyo:
1) Use Heimdall or Odin to flash stock UCLB3 (GB)
*Reccomendation: Also flash GB bootloaders. See first post for links and warnings.*
2) Flash Entropy's DD kernel to obtain root and red CWM recovery.
Currently on stock GB:
1) Flash Entropy's DD kernel to obtain root and red CWM recovery."
do i have to do this step or can i go forward with the current Stock_Root-Mod3e-UCKD5_Odin that i now have installed....?
secondly, after i install ics, right before i flash jb it states i have to do an aroma prep....then flash jb.....
all flashes are done with clockworkmod and i wipe only cache and dalvik? or is there anything else i have to wipe?
sorry for all the questions, i have read and researched many threads but they are all pretty overwhelmingly full of lots of info.....just wanna get it in order....
thanks again
from froyo to ics i use odin, from odin to jb i use cwm, correct?

Follow all steps, don't skip a thing. As for wiping, wipe Cache, Data, Dalvik, and format /System when going from GB to ICS and ICS to JB. That UCLB3 file is Gingerbread stock and you have to go to gingerbread before you go to ICS.
Also, if you are confident that your phone won't get disconnected from Odin while flashing the UCLB3 file, flash the GB bootloaders while you're at it. If the flash fails while flashing bootloaders then your device is bricked so be sure about Odin before you flash them.

Since you have already used Odin, I would use option "C". The best thing you can do is read everything two or three times. There are also many vids on YouTube that are helpful.
Once you are on GB.....just pick out any ICS ROM an flash it. Once it installs, I wouldn't even bother sitting it up and then you can go to JB.
Th3Bill uses an Aroma installer in his ROMs and the first time you use it, you will have to flash his aroma-prep first.
Hang in there....go slowly...and read. This gets easier and easier the more you do it. I always just d/l the zips to my phone and never even have to mess with the PC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613523
Edit: All of his ROMs for the Infuse can be found and d/l at Jokersax.com
Edit: I just reread your post......once you are on GB, you won't use Odin again. You will use whatever ICS zip to flash your ROM using CWM. Same thing with JB.

okay i think i understand....never has my phone disconnected during a flash with odin, ive always gotten a straight pass...exactly how important are the bootloaders anyways? if failures happen b/c of faulty usb cords, then im good...if bricking happens b/c of "unlucky chance" then id rather avoid it.... either way ill start the whole process tonight after i put the kiddos away so i can concentrate 100%.
thanks again for the tips

so far so good, it seems i need to do the gb bootloader after all...got the rainbow screen....i have my gbbootloader file ready to go....only thing is i want to confirm where i put the file, i've searched and i can only find a procedure for heimdall not odin...do i put the md5 file in PDA or bootloaders?? also it says in heimdall to tick bootloaders, do i do the same in odin??? it also says to flash twice....?? ok im really not risking a hard brick, i'll be patient and wait
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878458
i'll wait for your answer before i proceed....after this i'll continue to flash ics and then jb...
btw, am i supposed to flash ics twice?? that's what the [GUIDE] How To Flash JB says,
"9. Flash ICS Rom, then ICS Gapps"
but when i tried to flash ics a second time i couldn't (because of rainbow screen, and because it didn't show up in my directory....and where does ICS Gapps show up?
thanks again
If you downloaded the bootloaders linked in the guide, then yes, they go on the pda slot. You only have to flash once.
Heimdall-one click is the one you must flash once before it allows you to flash the bootloaders too.
Edit: to fully install ics you must flash twice, because I believe that what it does when coming from GB is that it just flashes the ics kernel on the first flash, requiring you to run it a second time after rebooting for it to install the complete rom.
Ics gapps are often linked in the rom OPs, although you don't need to flash them if you are headed to JB.

That's odd, I flashed GB bootloaders in Odin from a rooted stock GB. But andros is right about going in the PDA slot. Maybe its just me that didn't have to flash with heimdall first.

Shawn what I meant is that heimdall one-click wont allow you to flash bootloaders the 1st time, so you must run it once and then a 2nd time but with "flash bootloaders" ticked on.
There's no need to use heimdall before flashing them with Odin.

Alright guys, I'm officially a jelly beaner!! Thanks again to all who replied and helped me out, couldn't have done it without your help everything seems to we working fine (with the exception of a few apps that aren't compatible, but they weren't that important ) only issue I have now is that I can't use my data plan and surf the web I configured everything just as I had it before according to my carrier and nothing ...... could it have something to do with the change in modem? When I scan for available network operators I get two options one says :NICMS and the other is just a number 71021... any ideas?
Also, when installing jb in the initial setup it asked which would be the defualt location to save I think I chose the sdcard instead of the emmc directory. ..can I change that setting?
I'm pretty sure you can change the setting, but not sure how. Also, your APNs might be messed up. There's a thread with working APNs. One sec and I'll link it.

how is [ROM][JellyBean][4.1.1]Unofficial CM10 - Updated CM10 9/14 Butter - MTD - OC Kernel working out? since ive gotten cna nightly my camera and video are extremly buggy, more than id like...what works and doesnt work in unofficial cm10
Hello.
I decided to flash the new CM10 on my GS3 tonight and I ran into a problem
i was following the steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
Step 2: Download and open the EZ recovery app from HERE (If your coming from section 1 or 2 and already have a custom recovery, reboot recovery and skip to step 4).
Step 3: Open app, select CWM recovery, then tap the pulldown menu, choose CWM 6.0.1, select flash, then reboot recovery.
Step 4: From CWM recovery, Perform a nandroid backup from the "backup/restore" menu(Optional but recomended).
Step 5: Wipe data/factory reset, then under the "mounts & storage menu" Format System.
Step 6: Navigate to "install zip from sdcard", from there "choose zip from sdcard", and finally install the rom you downloaded in step 1 part A.
Step 7: Again, Navigate to "install zip from sdcard", from there "choose zip from sdcard", and finally install the gapps package you downloaded in step 1 part B.
I downloaded the ROM i wanted and I got to step 6 and I forgot to download the Gapps file.
IN CMW i went back and rebooted the phone after i wiped the data off it and everything, I thought this would just boot to stock ICS.
Now my phone will not boot up and it just stays in the GS3 logo screen.
I was wondering if there is a manual way that i could just make it boot into the old ICS so i can place the Gapps file back on my SD card?
Or is my device bricked?
Please let me know.
Thank you
Just go back into CWM and flash the ROM you downloaded. Once its flashed wipe data/cache again then go to advanced and fix permissions. Then boot into your new ROM, it will take a little while to boot into it because it will be like the first time you turned your phone on and set it up after you got it. I really don't know why your phone is getting stuck at the boot screen but....
Anyway once you have booted into your new ROM use the browser and go download the gapps you need and reboot into recovery, wipe data/cache, flash gapps, go into advanced and hit fix permissions again (it will take longer this time), and reboot.
Just a heads up, if you downloaded a version of EZ Unlock above 1.2 then you will have to go back to stock via Odin ( if you're on PC) because versions above 1.2 don't really unlock your bootloader so it causes a soft brick. If you used 1.2 or any version before it then you should be fine. But if you get a message after you flash your rom that says something about not being approved by Verizon and please take it to your nearest store well you didn't unlock your bootloader. If you get that message just use Droidstyle's guide to go back to stock via Odin and then start over again.
As long as you used a EZ Unlock 1.2 or lower you will be OK to flash your ROM, reboot into ROM, download gapps, reboot into recovery, flash gapps, etc. Just use the steps above and all should be fine.

Thanks for the information!
I got it to work somehow but this is what I did.
I got it to boot via CMW and restored the backup that I first created. Then i downloaded the Gapps file and placed it on Sd card and just continued the steps on the tutorial.
Luckly the tutorial asked me to download 1.2 so that is what I did and I am glad that I did it.
Thanks for the help but I have JB 4.1.2 installed and everything seems to be working fine.
Just so you know some ROMs like Paranoid work best if you flash the ROM boot and let it settle for 30 mins and then rebbot into recovery and then flash gapps and fix permissions. If I had know you had made a CWM backup I would have just told you to restore that, I must have just missed that part in the OP. Either way, its not always a necessity to flash your gapps with the ROM, I always boot into the ROM and let it settle first and then flash em. I also wipe data/cache/dalvik, if I am flashing a ROM, or just cache/dalvik, if just gapps or similar, 3 times.
I am happy everything worked out for you. Sport I wasn't of more help sooner

I have another question..I installed the "stable" version of CM10 from their website and ever since I installed it i have noticed that my signal is not as strong as it was before.
Is there anything else that I need to do to the phone to increase signal strength? I usually have around 3-4 bars in my house now i have one. At work i used to get 2 bars now I have none.
Let me know if you can help with this.
Thank you

Try flashing the latest vrblj1 radio. No need to do anything special, just follow the radio portion of section 6. Fyi you dont ever need to wait to flash gapps or wipe everything 3 times...what the guide says is what works best. Trust me i have tried every method imagineable.

It may have worked for you, but a lot of people on the PA thread have had problems with it when they flash gapps right after the rom without rebooting in between, just trying to help the OP before he gets started crack flashing. The first time I flashed PA on this phone I did rom + gapps and when.I rebooted everything was buggy as hell, so I did reboot into recovery and fixes permissions and when I rebooted it showed a screen that said Activating Please wait. Every single time I rebooted I got that screen, that is just the most annoying bug that I experienced with that flash, and when I asked for help I was told to flash ROM, reboot, then go into recovery and flash gapps and fix permissions.
On Liquid on the other hand I never experienced any problems whatsoever with flashing the ROM and gapps in the same session, but for ROMs that I have never used before I flash rom, reboot, flash gapps, fix permissions, reboot and go. I also flash 3 times because I uber paranoid about stuff being left over from whatever ROM I was running, and I did experience problems with stuff being left over when using CWM 6.0.1.2 when flashing and just wiping everything once so I Odined back to stock, which I learned thanks to you and your guide which I love btw, and then rooted, unlocked, and flashed TWRP this time since CWM wasn't working for me. And even with TWRP I wipe everything 3x now just to be extra cautious because I don't want a repeat of that episode.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way droidstyle, I'm not trying to start a fight like so many others on the forums do, just sharing what's happened to me and my phone and trying to help others. I learned everything I needed to know about flashing ROMs on a phone that has its bootloader unlocked from your thread. It is the most comprehensive thread I have seen for noobs about flashing and everything else. Thank you so much for it!
Also to the OP's question about service, I have flashed every radio and have never gotten better signal in AOSP roms, the connection was better but it didn't actually get stronger. I have 2 more 3g bars on TW ICS and I have 1 on AOSP. You should definitely go to the newer radio and test it out, but I've never seen an increase on my phone, but that all depends on where you are and how good your towers are too.

Download the top radio here, it will be VRLJ1 like droidstyle said:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-of...zon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/
The only radio tutorial you will need is on droidstyles guide, not sure what step but I know its there. Just download the Recovery Installable version of VRLJ1, also download the rpm for VRLJ1 there is a link right above the modem downloads. No one really knows for sure if the rpm are necessary for sure of not from what in have read but I always flash the corresponding one when I flash a new radio.
Also if you want to try out the other radios and see if they give you any better service, sometimes they will depending on area but so far the newest is the best so far for me, just go to the website above and download any of the Recovery Installable radios and their corresponding rpm's just like this one and flash it. There is no reason to clear data or cache when flashing as that won't be affected. Also you only need to flash the radio once. It stays no matter what ROM/anything else you flash.

RPM
Is there a difference between the RPMS?
the most downloaded RPM is the VRBLJ1 yet the radio is named VRLJ1.
Let me know because I am ready to flash this radio!
Thanks!
You download the rpm that matches the radio you want to flash. So you want to flash the VRLBJ1 radio you also wanna flash the VRLBJ1 rpm.
I think maybe invisiblek misnamed the files or maybe I'm missing something. Either way for that radio that you have get the latest rpm which is VRLBJ1
Sent from one of the many Anthropomorphic Personalities on the Disc
I just flashed the new radio and RPM provided in the links above and it seems like nothing changed. I checked the radio version in the settings and it is matching what I flashed but still service is still terrible 1 or two bars.
any other ideas on what I should do?
That's the same way it is with mine, but when I flash the new JB leak it works way way better, service wise, than even stock TW did. I have better overall service and I have not lost service or had to continue resending texts cause they won't go through, like on AOSP ROMs.
Things are supposed to get better, data wise, when the Ril and a few other things are incorporated from TW JB. I had read, before the leak, that service will be better on AOSP ROMs because they would be able to incorporate the leaks RIL. Now after there has been a TW JB leak I have read that the devs are waiting on the JB source code from Samsung so they can incorporate the Ril. I don't know which it is, I have seen one dev post he was waiting on a JB TW leak for the ril but it was a dev working on a TW ROM soooo..... I haven't seen an update to any of my favorite ROMs since the before first leak came, I'm talking about MIUI, Paranoid, and Liquid, so I don't know if they are in fact working on incorporating the Ril or if they are just taking longer than usual.to put out an update cause they're working on bugs. They could've also been waiting on the 4.2 source code to come out, I really don't know.
That's pretty much the long way of saying there's no way to get better service on AOSP that I've been able to find, all the radios have done for me have made the 3g/4g handoff a little better and faster. Hopefully the AOSP ril will get better soon and we can have as good of service as we have on the TW JB leaks.

Well thanks anyway.
I just installed the latest version and left it at that..hopefully CM10 improves and sends out a new update to fix a few bugs that I have found.
They post nightlies every night, so hopefully someone will post some code for bugfixes on their github that will be incorporated and we can have better working AOSP!
