I have a Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 10.1, I am trying to use the AllShare Cast option betwen them, is it posible? or is only posible if I get the dongle? if it is posible, is there any guide or video I can refer to, to make it work? sorry for bad english and sorry if it repost, could not find thread about it
Dongle is only for tv's build before 2010/2011.

You also don't need a dongle if the device you're sending to supports DLNA. When I'm watching a video in the same room as my Sony Google TV an icon appears in the stock video player that when selected shifts video playback to it.

I don't need the dongle for mirroring my note 10.1 on the SGS3 and vice versa! Thats what allshare play/group cast is for. You need it for mirroring galaxy devices on your TV if you have no smart TV.

As far as I've checked you can mirror files and pics on both devices, you draw on one device and it mirrors on the other(both devices need to be connected to the same network). As for a complete mirror of the screen like with a smart tv or the dongle I've never tried this to accomplish with note and the sgs3, only with note -> tv an sgs3->tv this I can confirm works well.
Playing movies, pictures and songs on the tv, this is even possible witv my old sgs and a b7000 tv using allshare.

No for mirroring. This is the stock video player while playing to an external device. The Note will also sleep while playing externally to conserve battery. For this pic, the Note is outputting to my Google TV via DLNA. It behaves the same way when connected to my HTC dongle.

I am having the same problem. Does any one have a solution for this? I'm on the same network and it just says searching, no matter which device I try.
5ghz and 2,4 ghz do not work so you have to be either on 2,4 or 5 with both devices. It's not working if one device only connected to wifi an the other still on 3G or LTE. Also both have be logged in the SAME samsung account to see them as registered devices in the allshare play app. You start on your device and join on the other with join group cast(in the settings in allshare play app).. Works like a charm for me.

iMediaShare brings DLNA capabilities on any Android phone including Nexus S. In addition it also enable playback of online videos as well as sharing personal photos from Facebook and Picasa.
Hmmm.
I tried searching for imediashare (and scanning the QR codes that are on their website) but it's not showing up in my Market....must be a protected app or something.

Last post is December, so did you guys find a way or did everyone settle with Twonky, Skifta and iMediaShare?
You can stream video with Gmote.
Although the dlna works fine I really wanted the AllShare app to control the TV, anyone know how to get it on the Nexus S or at least why can't we?!
Is there an OS version issue, cause I have downloaded like 3 AllShare apk but none works.
I`m currently using the 2.3.4 version.

Just updated to the LJ02 firmware on my AllShare Cast Dongle and have noticed a few improvements
Video and Audio quality are noticeably improved
I no longer have to reset the dongle in order to re-connect. However I still have to reboot the phone before connecting.
I have not tested this myself, but according to Steve Kondik (Cyanogen), the update makes the dongle compatible with 4.2 miracast.
Only negative is that I feel like there might be a slight increase in lag.
Here are the steps to update the firmware on your AllShare Cast Dongle.
To install this update you're phone must be running a TouchWiz ROM with AllShare Cast. It appears that Verizon is blocking the update (of course) so you will need to follow either of the following to update.
You can download the AllShare Cast update apk.
OR
You can modify your build.prop. I set mine to the Sprint S3 and it worked no problem.
Modifying your build.prop requires root access. As always, I recommend running a Nandroid backup of your system partition before modifying your build.prop.
And of course, I'm not responsible for any damage you do to your phone/dongle from following my guide.
Backup your build.prop file (system/build.prop).
Modify your build.prop to the below values (I use build.prop editor)
ro.product.model=SPH-L710
ro.product.name=d2spr
ro.product.device=d2spr
Reboot your device
Download the AllShare Cast update from the Google Play store.
Connect your phone to your AllShare Cast Dongle and accept that you wish to install the update.
Restore your build.prop file or manually set it to the following:
ro.product.model=SCH-I535
ro.product.name=d2vzw
ro.product.device=d2vzw
You may need to reboot your phone in order to connect to the dongle after the update installs.
I hope this helps somebody out there. Good luck and enjoy your new firmware!

Up to this point I think the attitude has been more "wait-and-see" with Miracast. It still is a little buggy, but I am really liking it so far. Being able to watch content on my TV from my phone without wires is a real game changer imo. For example, a couple weeks back my wife and I wanted to watch Lord of the Rings in order to get psyched up for The Hobbit. I have all three movies on my PC, so I was able to stream them to my phone via DLNA and watch them on the TV with AllShare Cast. It was a real round-about way to watch them, but it worked great!

I use HDMI with Samsung's connector. They have an over rhe air device but reviews are mixed. I will eventually get it to see. But hdmi works flawless. I have a GT-N8013 and a GN2 SCH-I605, both not rooted.
I spent about an hour on chat with Samsung and ened up with them telling me to call tech support. It seems there are a lot of people who have this problem, but they are usually rooted and can fix it, but no answer for us non rooted people.
Any suggestions?
Works for me.
Try an reset the dongle. Clear cache of allshare app on your tablet.
And connect dongle straight to tv... bypass receiver if you are using one.

If you've tried it, and it fails, then the receiver isn't HDCP-compliant, so no unfortunately. The ME29 firmware seems to have helped more folks than it hurt, though- as now I can use the ASCD even with a custom kernel (as long as I roll back the Bootloader), as I guess they're doing more DRM checks at the HDMI port instead of inside the ASC SW in the GNote.

Wanted to put this out there because I could not find a fix searching Google. Hope this helps.

If anyone is using the AllShare Cast Hub device, can you tell me what output resolution your device is using since KitKat. Mine which are on old firmware (no way to update the firmware with S4 or Note3!!), output 1080p/30 which is an unusual resolution and my Panasonic TV doesn't support it. Prior to KitKat, it was still 720p on the hub device even the phone is of course 1080
Resolution is 1920x1080 full hd.I tryed now a movie i am on uk 4.4.2 and is working.

Yes the 1080 bit I agree...its the refresh bit thats the problem. At 1080, you can have 50/60Hz (most common), 24p (blu-ray) and 30p (weird things). Samsung is using the 30p connection which is what is causing me all the problems
for those who can't search or just can't be ar**d!

Well, you can stick it in your pocket and take it anywhere. Hotel room or work. Bluray player stays at home. The allshare/screen mirroring is way better with my LG tv. I can plug my headphones into the phone and watch the tv. The cast hub will disconnect if you keep the headphones plugged in.
