I find it surprising there's no Imdb app. Is there a reason for this? It would be really useful...
Would love to see an Imdb app!
It would be really nice to have the IMDB app on my phone. It isn't too bad in the browser, but always much better to have the app.
Me too, come on devs!
There should be some kind of 'Devs for hire' forum.
I wish I had the ability myself. If someone gets a half decent Imdb app, even for 50p or something, they'll probably make a tidy little sum...
If only IMDB had an API....
Anyway, their site terms don't allow you to scrape data from their site:

If anyone did make an app, IMDB would get it removed from the market pretty quick I reckon.

But then you would still be able to get the data. I once saw a friend doing it on a desktop app for his movie library. He had the scores, summary, genre, cover in 1 app. But yeah for personal use only. so It would get pulled from the market fast.
If you are a swedish user I suggest "Filmtipset" app.
It shows many nice info about films, and also the IMDB score.
Tbh, the score is the least useful item on the page, next to any adverts...
For me it's looking people up an seeing what else they've been in, maybe with pictures of them.

Quite possible, and if so, let's hope they release one for android aswell
http://www.imdb.com/licensing/ and http://www.imdb.com/licensing/noncommercial is why it won't happen.
I was going to start on it until i saw that.
The Movies app in the Market (Flixster) used to pull IMDb's info for individual movies. If you scrolled to the bottom of the movie details it linked to IMDb, but it looks like they've pulled it. It still links to Flixster and Rotten Tomatoes though.
I can remember pausing my vcr to get film credits to enter into IMDB. Now they have taken all of the data they got for free from users, studios, and artists and license it for a minimum of $15,000 per year. Nice business model, you give me yours and you can pay to see mine.
Most movie/DVD catalog software I have come across (Extreme Movie Manager, Med's, etc..) all scrape from IMDB and other sites without problems. I have owned Extreme MM for years now, and with periodic script updates there has never been a problem. I have yet to hear IMDB ever complaining or going after someone fro scraping.
Come on
I'd like to see the application too. I'm using it on my WinMo
Finally! Woo Hoo!
http://hemorrdroids.net/?p=471
Does it have a feature where you can scan dvd bar codes to build a film list, and a feature like urban spoon for films where you can lock genres and do a random search so my girlfriend cab figure out what movie to watch by herself?

You have all the apps in the market. You don't need "tablet" apps like you do on iOS.

I'm coming from an iPad as well.. sold it to partially fund my Transformer.
I don't regret the move at all, but there are some apps and functions I miss from the iPad.
Netflix
Aweditorium
AirVideo - or something similar to stream movies off of a Windows share over Wifi.
I like having my phone (DroidX) and tablet both be Android. Just wish a few of the apps would catch up on the Android side. They'll get there, I'm sure.

If you don't mind paying a little money, PlayOn TV works fairly well with Honeycomb (use it on my Xoom) and supports local video, Netflix, Hulu (doesn't need Hulu+), and a number of other video sources. Runs a server app on a Windows PC, then streams over wifi (including remote networks) and 3G.
It's not perfect (the Android interface lacks some features, such as scrubbing), but it works in a pinch. I have a feeling PlayOn will get their Android support fixed, and they're also optimizing for tablets.
Use cifs manager to connect to windows shares. The share is mounted on your sdcard, and all of your apps treat everything in the share as if it were on the SD card. Needs root. If you don't have root, try upnplay, use windows media player to stream over upnp.
pretty sure myNet detects shared drives

Excellent! Thank you. Performance suffers on it some, at least with my files but its a Beta, so hopefully it will improve.
It at least works, which is more than anything else I've tried.

Android apps scale and look fine, but I'd like for more that take advantage of HC, and especially the increased resolution. You do need tablet apps to take advantage of the benefits of having a tablet.
Well the Asus Transformer has the following out of the box - no app download needed.
Polaris Office
Office Docs ->as well as Google Docs / Box.net connectivity. Works nicely
Asus Mynet
Basically lets you reach out and grab data from any DLNA device (Windows PC Windows Media, Mac, etc etc)
MyCloud
Allows for cloud support without having to download Dropbox (ALthough Dropbox works fine)
http://eee.asus.com/eeepad/
Social Networking apps Facebook, Twitter Int.
This is built in, you can sync contacts with Facebook, etc. Unfortunately Facebook STILL HAS NOT released an app for Facebook on the iPad, I have one of those too.
PressReader
Allows reading of tons of Newspapers and media items (built in, and still there are other apps that do this in the market and built to work fine with Honeycomb)
Add-On Apps
Sling TV
Works just fine on my Transformer and my Samsung Vibrant
Pulse News Reader
Reads all my websites and links to my Google Reader account.
Webex
Not to long ago released and works fine on the Transformer and my Android handset.
Stuff I wish were on Honeycomb
Flipboard
Netflix
Hulu
zinio
Thanks guys ... I will check out the apps. But the wait for the e3t continues.

IMHO if you're concerned about apps, I would wait. You already have an iPad 2 so technically you don't NEED another tablet. You're absolutely right, Apps are the key to unlocking the function and purpose of these things and as of now Honeycomb tablets are behind. People will tell you that Android apps scale well and that's true ~50% of the time in my experience.
As just a quick statistical example, I'm running 245 apps on my phone (including games, 728MB total), I'm running 119 apps on my tablet (267MB total) - not because I don't want them all, but because the rest either don't work (games don't port well from 2.2 to 3.0 at all, and by that I mean half of mine don't run) or don't scale well and show up in a phone sized portion of the screen. This is definitely due to honeycomb, as these same apps and games scaled wonderfully in Froyo to my GTablet.
So since you love the iPad 2, which is definitely more mature hardware and especially software-wise, I'd consider Honeycomb the Cupcake version of Android for Tablets - essentially the v.1 public beta test and either hold off or go in understanding exactly what you're getting.
I mean if you feel like this " ... I suspect I am going to be sorely disappointed about the lack of apps on the Android platform. Yes, like they say ... the apps base will grow ... eventually ... but by then .. the E3T may become too dated." right now then all you're going to do is be full of regret because yes, you will be disappointed, especially comparing it to the iPad 2. The apps will come there's 0 doubt in my mind about that, but you're exactly right by the time they do come in full force to match the entire market, the current batch of tabs will be 'stale'.
Unlike Apple hardware, Android hardware has to be on it's toes, there's a lot of competition in the market and each brand has to come out with something 'better' to attract buyers constantly. In the blink of an eye there will be triple and quad core cpu offerings, more RAM stuffed in, better screens, better cameras, more storage all for the same price that you're getting the current device at. That's the blessing (and curse?) of freedom and choice. With the iPad 2 you have something with excellent software-base but you're at the mercy of Apple to release new hardware and that's generally once a year.
So yeah, my point is that in the end you can either wait until Honeycomb has matured as Android for phones has, and THEN invest in a tablet and get apps to your hearts content (and have no regrets!) OR you can buy now and enjoy it for what it is. You may not get every app you get on the iPad 2 currently for it (which I can't see the point in, anyway) but you'll be getting a platform where many of the apps are free (ad supported), the hardware is better (faster and more powerful, at the very least) and where you're free to source your media from a variety of places, vs. just Apple and iTunes.
As for the apps themselves, I suggest you head to market.android.com and look up the names of those apps or their function, in order to help you find alternatives in case they aren't there.

While I understand the comparison, I think the difference here is that Android is now an accepted player in the market. When Cupcake came out, noone had a clue whether Google was going to be successful with their OS and so developers held off creating apps for it. I don't think the uptake will be so slow on the tablet front. Despite the relatively lacklustre sales of the early Android tablets, developers know that it will become popular down the line and the quicker they get their app onto the market, the better chance it will have to establish itself as the ________ app for Android tablets (fill in the blank here, Twitter, Facebook, Office etc). Honestly, I think it will be a matter of weeks rather than months before we start seeing Honeycomb-optimised apps in all the major categories.
It may make sense to wait for the quad-core tablets just around the corner, but by then they will have announced the octo(?)-core tablets coming in just a few short months and you will have to put off your purchase again. In technology there is always something better just around the corner...

I bought my transformer in about 3 monthes and for the two first months it was fun and i couldn't get my hands off it! But now its just boring! Its just sitting there on my bed and i almost don't use it. Can someone help me to get my trans fun again? Like games, apps, themes, launchers and more.
BTW:
Is there an I pad keyboard theme? I really like how the I pad keyboard looks.
Try getting a Wii mote and a classic controller and connecting them via bluetooth. I play Spyro all the time via a PSX Emulator. You can do anything really from NES to the good old N64. I love it.
Or the Sixasis controller if you can have more luck getting that working then I did.
There's nothing anybody here can do in that respect. If you've grown away from your tablet then just sell it and make some money for it. Find something you do like and invest the money in that instead. In the future you should not become so attached and distance/limit yourself on how often or how much you use your PED's. I don't use mine constantly so I feel like when I do use it it's a joy to use it and I learn to cherish it longer.
I did the same thing with my XBOX 360 and gamed constantly and burned out on it. Luckily I didn't sell it and do without. Instead, I sold it and then I went out and upgraded to the new XBOX 360 (black) console and limited myself on how much and how often I play. Now I love it more than ever.

Try ADWLauncher and then setup a Hubs layout..as described here..
I'm sure you will enjoy that ..
Try also some games..Sprinkle, Apparatus, Shadowgun are really funny game for example..
Here at XDA people seems to have weird way to have fun. Even if I do understand that tinkering your device could be fun it is not the kind of entertainement I would advice for someone bored, especially given the state of the current custom Rom for honeycomb (wich all look the same).
Soooo. The real question is, what apps ?
If you like creating, drawing or doing photo manipulation, try Picsay Pro, Sketchbook Pro, Photoshop Touch, Adobe Idea, Pixl-r-omatic. All great apps to have fun creating images.
If you like watching movie / tv shows try Mizuu lite. It make all your video look pretty with poster , cover, casting and stuff.
Beyond Podcast HD is awesome if you want to listen to podcast. You can search and discover inside the apps whatever you may like.
Zinio is a great press reader, if you want to read.
Now if you want to make your TF look fresh.
Picspeed wallpaper offer a vast selection of wallpaper if you want your TF to look fresh.
If you don't already have it, Wizz widget offer many awesome widget with google reader feed, facebook feed, twitter feed, etc. all of them beautifully tailored for honeycomb.
I also use storage ether (search the apk on XDA I'm not sure i'ts available on the market) to monitor my storage and it looks great.
"Make your own clock widget" "minimalistic text" let you display some information with some widget in a aesthetic way.
If you want more changes, some ROM are tweaks a little, revolver and prime are 2 great ROMs with many theme available. You'll need to root, and flash those new ROMs but you'll definitly have something new.
And Finally there is GAMES.
I'm not myself a huge fan of games on mobile device but I try many of them, here some that I liked.
Battlehearth is right now the game I enjoyed the most on tablet. It's beautifull, smart fast and fun. It's like doing 3 man donjons in Wow where you play all 3 caractere. Actually some bosses are even inspired from WoW.
Nano panda, angry bird, cut the rope, apparatus, slice it, Sprinkles, are great puzzle games.
Minecraft for Android is okay but not much to do except modeling stuff. A good timevore app nonetheless.
Shadowgun is a great shooter.
Roboto a funny simple plateformer.
fruit ninja THD and glow hocket 2 are great multiplayer games.
I like Buka HD, I don't know why, try it.
Slimedroid HD is a little volley game funny just the time to beat it.
And well that's games I liked. Of coruse there is still a lot of game.
Look in the tegra Zone, in the game section of the web market.
And for more apps take a look at www.tablified.com it's a great website for discovering tablet optimised apps.
If you still can't find a use to your tablet then I think you just need something else than a tablet related entertainement.
You know there is a specific use for these tablets right?
At the very least, you should be able to do just web browsing on your bed with this thing.
I use mine every single day. Light web browsing, rss, comic books and reading are my daily tasks. And this doesn't count all the other things I usually do with my tablet every other day. Play games, watch a movie, email, listen to music while doing other things on the tablet and etc... If the product was not useful before, then why buy it? To me, it is the most convenient piece of tech I have ever had. If anything, I am more frustrated with when it doesn't work, than not being able to find a reason to use it at all.

Well my transformer wasn't necessarily boring, but after I rooted it, I became alot more fascinated with the things I can do with it! If you haven't gotten around to doing so there's a 1 click root app in the development forum if I'm correct. Once you root it you can do all sorts of things like
>delete bloatware using titanium backup, backup your apps, etc
>use setcpu and other overclocking apps to get more performance, I'm at 1.2ghz (to be safe) but I've heard some OCs of like 1.6!
>Use autokiller to modify the way your tf handles ram, use autorun to manage your startup apps
>use wifikill to kick people off the subnet of the wifi networks your connected to.
>use droidsheep to arp spoof login sessions
>tons of other neat networking utilities like shark, orbot, sshtunnel, dynamicdns, etc
>set custom bootscreens & themes!
For the games my personal favorites are
Shadowgun (like many have said)
CK Zombies
Samurai II Vengeance
Death Worm
GOF2 THD
Hungry Shark
Wind-up knight
Robotek
simcity deluxe
Defender
Battleheart
Airattack HD
Keep an eye out on tegra zone for upcoming releases!
Electrum Drum is also fun to creat some beats.

Any progress? None of my devices are eligible. Thanks.
Here is the app from Titanium attached, its inside a zip file to avoid the apk size limit. It doesn't seem to be too strict on unofficial devices as it installed fine on my HP Touchpad with CM9. Unfortunately there is no tablet UI but the stretch to fill screen compatibility mode in ICS works, so tablet users won't be stuck with a tiny app and possibly tiny video. There are no games on now so I can't test video but everything else in the app is smooth. Hopefully it lets rooted devices in, I didn't get any issues launching the app.
Kindle Fire confirmed
Preliminary report is that the app is working great on a stock Kindle Fire. Thank you!
Works well on my Kyocera Echo....UI even looks good with Dual screen mode. Thanks for posting the APK. Paid for the App and then found my device was not support.

The app was definitely made for a phone, but it's working just fine on my TF101.
I was able to install from the Market just fine on a TF101. No sideloading required. Running CM9 Nightly.

Here's a link to the APK file instead of a zip. Extracted from my Epic4G and installed on my Galaxy Tab. Everything works fine for me.

Thanks for posting also! I just used this on my GNex with no problems at all. Couldn't get it on the Market though. So thanks!

Get the code associated with an account aand log in to the app. After that we will have to see if video works. I will be testing it on my GB stock rooted D3 tonight since there are games on. I expect it to work, I may possibly have to run ota unroot. But what I really want to see is how my ics touchpad with cm9 does. Hopefully video works but I'm not getting my hopes up.

OK the first game has started so here is an update.
Its working through my Droid 3 pretty well. It does not care about root. Video quality isn't the best especially when viewed over HDMI. But at least HDMI output is working even if it looks bad. Be patient when waiting for the game to appear. There will be a commercial first before it lets you in to watch and some black screen in between.
Now my Touchpad. Its running CM9/ICS and its a tablet. When you go to watch the game a browser prompt comes up unlike GB which just starts playing the video. I allowed it to open in the default browser and a flash plugin came up on a ncaa.com page. It played the commercial and then went black. Since the app stops video when it is pushed to the background chances are once the browser appears to play the ad, it never gets the redirect to the live stream.
I was able to use the desktop player on my Touchpad by going to http://www.ncaa.com/mml/player/console.html in the regular ICS browser using a desktop user agent. Once logged in via the flash applet I was able to watch games but the video only worked in full screen. It was a little laggy getting there since this is a big flash applet made for desktops. The video quality looks great though on a tablet and once I got to full screen there was little frame dropping. It may not be that way on lower end tablets though, but this method should work on the Galaxy Nexus. I attached an image of it from my Touchpad.
EDIT: Tried it in Dolphin Browser on my GB Droid 3 and its working okay, dropping frames a bit more than the Touchpad but still watchable.
on my Nexus, i am not able to type in my password in the login box. The characters seem to be overwriting each other. i tried with the normal browser, and dolphin, same result. both using desktop agent. WTF, this app is pissing me off!

Same problem for me. Not a Nexus, but Captivate running CM9 alpha. Probably going to flash to stock until tournament is over. Also same problem on TF101, but if I can't get that to work no big deal. Gotta have it on the phone since I work nights. Pretty sad that they don't support ICS at all. I don't seem to recall app devs having this much of a problem when we went from Froyo to Gingerbread. I guess it goes to show just how much different ICS really is under the hood, and not just a pretty UI.

Thanks!
Hi all,
I'm writing this because I really don't understand what's is the point with Apollo.
It seems that the developer was copying things from Play Music and trying to make an app from scratch.
But, it totally lacks features and doesn't address any previous shorcomings:
No Various Artists grouping
No Replay Gain
No settings at all
No album arts stored in the files/folders
Albums downloaded are bad resolution and not able to change them
Not so smooth interface
No folder selection to play music from
Unstable (Sometimes it just stopped playing)
Seems somewhat heavier that Play Music
And on top of this.. it is integrated in CM9 and with version 1.00. Then, voodoo sound doesn't get integrated. Not only that, but there is a plan to charge for "premium" features, like what? Change the album art or pick it from the files itself??
I'm happy with CM9 as they are adding features and addressing issues, but this Apollo is annoying.
Really.. Am I missing something?
I don't know, I think that Play Music is so much better than this one.

You're missing the fact that Apollo is still a work in progress.
I'm using Apollo over PowerAmp Pro because the DSPManager from CM9 is incompatible with the latter (in my case, at least).
Trimis de pe Defy CM9
I think the biggest problem with Apollo (and all other 3rd party music apps) is that it isn't able to integrate with my Play Music library. This is of course a failure on Google's part for not providing an official API.
I've been moving toward uploading more and more of my library to Play Music so that I don't have to carry so much around on my external SD card, opening up more space for storing videos, pictures, etc. Eventually Apollo isn't going to have much to work with...
Well, not everyone has unlimited data plans and not all areas have good coverage. Also, I like to keep my data locally (at least important or large stuff).

I understand that. I certainly don't have an unlimited plan or the greatest coverage 24/7 either. But you can sync stuff from your Play Music library to your phone while on WiFi for offline playing, so you can kind of have it both ways.
And I guess that means you could potentially sync your Google music and then play it through Apollo. (Assuming Google syncs them as normal mp3 files and not some weird encrypted DRM format.) But it's still annoying to need multiple apps installed.
4. No album arts stored in the files/folders

Yep, that's retarded. I love the artist photo dowload, but why not use the album art that is already there (either inside the MP3 or in the folder) instead of downloading a craptastic low res image? I hope that's not supposed to be a future premium feature (I can only think it will, since using a local picture seems easier to implement than downloading it).
Also, no AlbumArtist/Band support, it seems. I have compilations and OSTs and they appear spread in the Artist tab, instead of appearing once under "Various" or "<Name of the film>"
I was removing Music.apk and replacing it with PlayMusic.apk before flashing. Will do the same with Apollo.apk for now.
(edit) Reading the author's google+ comments:
Settings are supposed to be that way. You don't need as many as you did in previous versions, but I will be including more in the Play Store version. One of which is a different way to set album art and such

it seems local album art will be reserved for paying users, although most people there are asking for this feature. Goodbye Apollo, then; going back to Google player.
Yes, I was using apk replacement a while ago. I really wanted to download flash but I guess I will have to use PC, edit and then flash.
What I would really like to know is how difficult is to implement Replay Gain that is around for a while.
I can't stand how Apollo won't use the album art that comes with the songs. If it already has album art it'll still show the "Apollo - Illuminate Your Music" art since it can't find it online...even though I already have it.
It's stressing. And the art it does find is so grainy and low quality.
My biggest gripe is that Apollo doesn't use the equalizer. I just flash the old original cm9 music whenever a new build comes out. Even though it's kind of cpu heavy.
I simply can't understand why such an app can make it's way to cyanogenmod...
It has no settings at all, you aren't asked if you want to download covers or use those in the music files, the app simply starts downloading.
This is not the way a cyanogenmod app should be or behave!
I tried the January version of Apollo... well there are the missing settings but the rest of the old version is really slow and often not responding.
So I switched back to the old cm9 music app.. it is a nice feature of ICS that you can deactivate system apps ;-)
i expected it to be on the market by now
I guess one can freeze the app and use something else but I liked it for what it offers. It still seems there is much work to do. It works with DSP. That is nice. Downloads artist pics, but when you click on them, you get a FB's timeline type, rectangular frame where you can't really see the pic. Add some settings, and include a dark theme, don't let us download it.

Same feeling here, rest of CM is working really nice. Also battery is nice, I can get 1 day with normal usage.
It's in the market from today, 5.31. Description is lacking imo. Cost: 4.64. No free version listed in developer's other app section. Weird thing:i downloaded app from web and market showed as the app already installed. If true that it's the exact same app as the 5.21 release, it's definitely not worth the price at this point. Imo. Also, imo, based on developer's track record, I'm not sure how quick updates will be.

The dev said it would be 2.3+ compatible. Could you send me the link to the app on Play Store? I can't find it

Hi,i think someone might've been trying to steal the dev's work. Was wondering this after my first post as there was no communication from Dev's site today. i can't find the app in the market now either. maybe Google took it down.someone did link to it on dev's g+ page in the comments section today. But someone there also suggested the app was probably not official. Sorry for the confusion. I'm just as curious as the next person to see what the official app looks like, hence my 1st post.
Edit: just checked link on Dev's g+ page and link still is live. The app in the mkt is listed under the developer name: living water. another issue is the mkt icon is not the Dev's official icon which should've been a red flag for me. sorry again.

Anyone have news about the Market version? He said almost 2 weeks ago that it would be on Play Store in a couple of days, and nothing until now...

i don't know how long the play store upload process takes but for some reason this taking so long doesn't surprise me; might be awhile longer (but i hope not). If u catch comments in Dev's g+ page, he has been absent since like the day he posted on 5.21. Some communication might be good from him

Change
Where can I submit a request for the app?
One feature that I would really love is being able to listen to music by folder. It seems to have everything else but this. EG Artist, album, genre, etc.
I store my workout music in a workout folder and I would like to be able to just select that.
I know I could create a playlist for each folder but then I need to update it all the time.
PLEASE ADD FOLDER PLAY OPTION.
