GPS Lock and Compass in CM10 not correct? - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Excuse, no permissions to write in Developer Forum. So i ask here...
First thanx to the very good development of cm for the galaxy tab!
Using cm-10-20120830 there is some trouble with compass alignment. No correct value for north before and after compass alignment.
No fix in GPS apps. Getting correct current position but nix fix status in applications like gps essentials.
Any suggestions?

try using gps status from playstore to calibrate the compass, not sure if that will work.. there's something wrong with the gps on mine too.. about 20KM/h off from the actual speed(was driving at ~100KM/h, but the app only shows ~80KM/h, was using sygic and gps status for the speed, about the same reading)

Problem with compass:
After some more 'alignment' (rotating the tab in all axis) i have a correct compass reading in 'gps essentails'
- but - a wild changing and not correct north in 'gps status' app!
Whats that?
Problem with gps fix:
Correct coordinates shown in all apps - but - in no application there is a fix.
'gps status' shows 4 satellites ( i am shure there were more in stock) in view. But lock shows 0, also after longer time. So i think no problem with agps data, only with 'fix' announcement. When i start the app there is also a short popup saying 'locked in 9 seconds'.
I am confused!

looks like we have problem here. 4 satellites, 9 secs lock. but no actual lock showing.

I am glad to see I'm not the only one noticing compass issues... my Google Sky Map refuses to work!
Anywho, I did the whole 'back to stock and get a lock' to no avail.

GPS Does not lock and icon disapear

Hi all.
I'm sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I could not find....
I am very scared about this bug, do I need to change the phone ?
This i what happens :
When I start google maps, I can't get a lock: the blinking GPS icons appears for 1 second, then disapear, then come back for one second, the disapear for ever.
I don't know what to do... please, help !
Wireless Location and GPS enabled?
Menu -> Settings -> Location & Security
Yes of course
Use an app other than google maps to init your gps. Try GPS Test from the market.
GMaps is known to "give up" if the gps doesn't get a quick fix with the nexus s.
Tried GPS Test... Same result
FYI, this is definitely a hardware failure. I had my phone changed. So if you have the same trouble, you should do the same !

GPS force fixed with CleanRomRom/ClemsyKernel

Hello, In my case where GPS stopped working after I installed CleanRom. If your GPS is working you don't need to read this thread. If you want to help out, please welcome. After tried many tricks and trades in the book, I found one solution that may resolved this issue, It works for me but may not work for you, just give it a try and report back. Here is the issue: when "GPS satellites" option is checked in Settings->Location Services and then you try to open maps and tab on the gps icon on the most top, it's trying to locate your location using GPS satellites. You also going to see the GPS icon in the notification, but it's not blinking (meaning it's not working). Here is what I did to force it to work:
1. Make sure your wifi is working.(you have internet connectivity)
2. In Settings->Location Services-> put a check to "Google's location service" (the top option), but leave the other two options UNCHECKED. Tab "agree" button when prompted for.
3. Open "Maps" app and tab on the GPS icon on the top (next to the microphone icon). At this time you should able to have a lock on your location. Try to find any addresses to verify it's can locate them.
4. Now go back to Location Services and put a check to "GPS satellite", now you should have both top options checked, and the last bottom option, which is "Location & Google search is UNCHECKED)
5. Go back to your Maps app and hit the GPS icon located on top next to the microphone icon again, now take a look at the gps icon in the notification bar (all way at the bottom), you should see it's blinking.(meaning the GPS is now working)
6. Go back to Location Services and uncheck the "Google's location service", so now should only have the "GPS satellites" checked (the middle option).
7. Go back to Maps and hit the GPS icon you should see the GPS icon in the notification is blinking and working.
Now your GPS should be working as normal. You can reboot, turn it off, turn it back on anyway you like. Please report back if it indeeds fixed your issue. Good luck.
-------------
Also try hard reset (push the reset button or do a cold boot).
Thanks for the detailed walkthrough.

where can i get that mod gps file?
You can install the gps file using pimp my rom. Just flash pimp my rom zip file using recovery and select gps file for your country.
Just wondering when you select Google option, is the gps find your location?

Having a similar problem and using search brought me here.
I do not think that my GPS not functioning is a ROM issue, but I am wondering :
-I purchased the device in Germany and it was working well there
-I brought it to Russia and it is not showing any GPS fix since
-I unlocked bootloader and rooted today, still no GPS difference
Is a 'German' device not able to find a lock 'abroad' ?
I did give it more than 30 minutes outside to try, my HTC oneX+ was able to spot 18 sat's being inside the house

Ruud

I received the device and did an OTA upgrade to 10.4.4.23 which was WW.
The GPS receipt was OK at that moment, it showed my whereabouts at times I received my internet through a phone (thethering).
I now did change to : CleanROM 3.1 Inheritance
But the 'no GPS fix' problem occurred right after I arrived in Russia, not connecting with my flashing of a new ROM.
It was showing the weather for a German town for days, even though I was walking outside looking for GPS receipt for a long time.

Clear data was done for 'Google Services Framework', 'GPS Status', 'Maps' & '2GIS'. After that a short press on the power button and 'reboot' was chosen.
A quick look in GPS Status shows no satellite at all.

If I open maps, it is first asking for permissions, that because I was playing around with that Yesterday based on the recommendations here. I gave these (locations are all tapped on now)
After that I see maps with a accuracy of 20m correctly showing where I am but I am afraid that is because of WiFi connection, not GPS.
I do not know which is the GPS symbol, the first one changes 2D to 3D,the rest is also not showing any reaction connected with GPS. The GPS icon is blinking, also GPS Status icon is showing that it is looking for a connection.

Ruud

OK, atleast everything is working excepted for locking onto any Sat. Have you try this sequence yet?
1. Make sure your wifi is working.(you have internet connectivity)

Yes, I have done so, or at least tried to do so. As I said, my MAPS do not show an icon for GPS, nor do I see a microphone icon.
I have nevertheless walked through the sequence to see if it helps. But I see only a blinking which says "Searching for GPS".

That is highly appreciated.
Do I understand it like this :
-Power + Vol-Down
-Enter RCK (the TWRP menu)
-Choose install
-Choose the file You send me as the one to be installed
Should any wipes be done before or after this ?

Why do I have to toggle GPS on/off in order for it to auto locate on Liquid Smooth?

Sorry for the long title...but I cannot get a lock on my GPS in maps and etc. unless I toggle GPS off and then on. It then quickly locks and my location is very accurate. But when I freshly open Google Maps...Nothing happens. My location is accurate to "2100" meters. Right when I toggle it off and on from the system, it quickly locks on.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I have not had that issue, but have you tried tightening the screws. I know jt sounds crazy, but it helped me get a lock as well as others. You can probably find the thread if you search.
Walt
Yeah that's not my issue. I get a very good lock to 3 meters...once I toggle GPS I get the lock.

compass problems

So I have noticed that the compass on my Pixel is always inaccurate unless I open Maps first. For example if I open a simple compass app (have tried several) it will always be off by a good bit. If I open Maps, compass directions are correct and if I then go back into a compass app the orientation will then be correct. I've done the calibration "twists" repeatedly but it has not helped and as far as I can tell I think my location settings are set to high. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Not a huge problem but it has made me worry that something is wrong with my phone.

Oppo Find X2 Pro location issue

I have a very annoying issue with my Oppo Find X2 Pro and that is the location doesn't change. The weather app stays on the area that I am originally located and the camera watermark doesn't show location.
I have auto location turned on in settings and the setting for improved location and they don't do anything.
Any help appreciated please

I had a weird issue for awhile there where every time I restarted the phone, it would report that the location setting was turned off and I had to turn it back on. Strangely this issue seems to have fixed itself with no change on my behalf!
The only thing I can suggest for your issue is to download the 'GPS Status' app which will download updated GPS data. Not sure if this will help as just a one off or on-going but worth a try.
