Well, since you wrote "other launchers" you might as well install the Xperia launcher from the forum - it includes the OnOffTools and works on ICS and GB.
Make sure to make a nandroid backup before doing anything with it!

hahaha thanks anyway with other launchers i mean Nova or Go, i know that with xperia launcher it works
ah, you already are on sony .. my bad for not seeing it.. well, before I rooted I used Switchwidget pro, it's beautiful and I think it's quite close to what you need - it's not free, but it's highly customizable and it simply looks great!

Hey everybody, I have tried to search around and I have found no luck, but does anyone know if they have ported the sense ui and can you load it on the captivate? maybe a dumb question i dunno but i figured i would give it a try.
Not yet. Mostly everyone has been working on the gps issues and lag fixes.
just use Launcher Pro and then find a .apk file for fancy widget (a copy of the clock), it's not sense, but its much snappier than the stock captivate launcher and it has some HTC like widgets in the paid version, I find it very functional ^_^
Ive tried several different launchers including launcher pro but i found that i like adw launcher the best. You can download a sense theme for it from the market. I previously had samset 1.5 & 1.8 installed which includes the clock widget. After i synced to app brain i was able to reinstall it after i flashed a different rom. This is pretty much my ui of choice. It has been running great, plus you can enable horizontal swipe in the app drawer via adw settings which i find to work more smoothly. Hope that might have helped some for the time being.

Thank You! I too have been looking for a version of sense for the Captivate. This does a good job of pulling off the over all look and feel!
Another vote for the paid version of Fancy Widget. Very customizable and can be made to look just like Sense.
Sense UI isn't just a skin or launcher like TouchWiz. It actually replaces a lot of stuff in the ROM and has its own framework. You can't just "add" it to a ROM. It IS the ROM. I don't think you'll have it running on Galaxy S phone anytime soon.

Not working:
1.camera
2.phone service
3.HTC usb menu (can be fixed with a script made by dexter, and smali to some jar's)
4.Turning of the device
5.HTC's hibernate mode
6.Lockscreen( pressing power to bring the phone from standby will not get a lockscreen after like 5min, plug the device to usb cable and it should bring the lockscreen up)
7.Other things i might have forgotten.

You don't get it do you. I posted the link where this was being looked at. I never stated it worked. Don't be so hung up on being right when in fact you aren't. This question is unnecessary and will be locked by a mod because the question has been answered.

so i was just roaming around xda when i came across these, they are xperia launchers and timescape for the optimus black, i've tried out timescape and it works, will try the xperia arc launcher soon and see if that aswell. OBviously since its not made for the purpose of our phones bits and pieces would be missing, but still fun to try and maybe get it working with our stock launcher or something.
xperia launcher http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397093
timescape http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471578 . PS: can someone edit the updater-script file so it says "920" instead of "970" pleassse and then sign it so people on here can install on their optimus3d using cwm .THANKS
Xperia events http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1476946
this would be a cool feature to use on our phones
would this work on GB and Froyo?? or is it just for CM7??
yeh it actually looks good and is fairly smooth, well i tried it on gb (havent tried froyo), and didnt come up with any fc as such, only downside to timescape is you can only use it in the xperia homescreen

dag..... I wish it could be used in any homescreen (still may try it out) I never liked xperia's
Download NovaLauncher. It's the best launcher app I have ever used. It builds upon the regular Ice Cream Sandwich launcher and is just about perfect to me.
If you dont like it can you just un-install it and everything will go back to the way it was before?

The launcher cannot be uninstalled. You're just using a 3rd party one. The 3rd part one can be uninstalled and it will revert back to the Sense launcher
I have found apex to be much better on my gs2. I am content with Rosie for now.

I'm using Apex
This is the first time Ive used Sense... well I used the first generation of it back when it was TouchFlo3D. I actually like it. Much better than TouchWiz.
The only downside is no sense widgets.

i tried all 3
i think i like Go launcher the best
I find Go Launcher to be so ugly. I prefer Apex a lot more and I'll be putting it on my One X as soon as it arrives.
I prefer Nova over all because it's a ICS themed launcher. That's the deal breaker to me.

what do you think apex is?
and it doesnt require you to buy an upgrade to get full use out of it....

lol, I will check it out though for sure. I apologize for my ignorance.
EDIT: Nova and Apex both have you pay to get basically the same features, at the same price. lol.

This! APEX is better overall than Nova... AND ITS COMPLETELY FREE.
*Nova Launcher Prime Features (Paid version)*
Drawer Groups:
Folders in App Drawer
Unlimited custom tabs
Gestures
Quickly start Nova Actions or Apps from gestures on the desktop, such as pinching, swiping or two-finger swiping.
Hide Apps
Keep a clutter free drawer by hidding never used apps.
Dock Swipes
Get more use out of your dock apps by setting swipe-actions
Apex Launcher Pro (Paid Version) Features:
- Multiple configurable drawer tabs
- Unread count notifications
- Dock swipe gestures
- Two finger gestures
- More transition effects
- Batch add option for folders
- Option to merge folder contents
- Widgets in dock (1x1 only)
- Overlapping widgets
- More features on the way!
They share some features only available in the pro version, but I think I am indeed going to try Apex as it seems the general consensus is that it's better xD

except, its an OUT OF THE WAY upgrade. if i try to add something to my homescreen or make changes, it doesnt tell me 'sorry, you have to pay money to get that feature'
the 'pro' features arent teased in the launcher like nova
thats why i prefer apex over nova. its not in my face to buy it.....(not that i dont support devs, but i have no use for those features)
That's a very reasonable opinion. lol. I'm getting Apex all set up right now just to see. I understand what yo mean with the in yo face kinda deal.
I've used both Apex and Nova on previous ICS phones. I'll be sticking with the Sense launcher until we have an AOSP based build

LOL.
to be completely honest, i didnt even know APEX had a pro version until you said something....i definitely like that fact. LMAO
I basically just love this phone to death completely. No matter what launcher. but I will love it more when i have AOSP, AOKP, or MIUI on it.
What is the fastest/smoothest theme for xperia j? just like in the PC, the fastest/smoothest is the windows classic theme.

There is no definitive answer for that question. Each user has different things installed on their phone so a theme what runs smoothly on one phone may lag a lot on another. The same goes for ROMS, each users personal experience is different from the next. You will have to test many different themes on your own device to see what runs the best for you. Make sure to follow the install instructions to avoid bootloops.
Oh i see, let me rephrase the question, "what theme for xperia j jb uses less ram?"
Try nova launcher and make all animations off. Also, freeze all unnecessary apps (play store, facebook) to get the fastest speed in menu.

hello there, i would like to ask about the weather clock widget of galaxy s3 to work on the nova launcher or the adw launcher since it doesn't appear in the launcher widgets..
It is part of the Touch Wiz framework. Will not work if you use a different launcher. Don't think it would be an easy port. Good luck.

I had also tried to do that and wondered the same thing... thanks for the reply (love nova though, not changing it by any means)
Wow, good to know. Never liked Touchwiz, but it is a bit frustrating to be locked out of the other goodies.
I was wondering too. But for me Touchwiz is no compromise against Apex-Launcher.

You would need to be rooted to do what you suggested. The app for the weather widget is part of the TW framework and does not need to be installed but rather pushed (or copied using something like Root Explorer) to the System/App folder. Even then it won't work unless you use the TW launcher. Good luck.

Not sure about other launchers that look like TW. The icons look the same to me, but I see what you are taking about with the dock icons. Not a big deal for me. Have you played around with the Apex settings to see if you can add dock labels?

so apex launcher is the best way to make the experience kind of iphone like??? what do u recommend using in the developper options to make all the transitions in the phone have no lag, i believe lag is experienced in every android device of samsung when u enter the contacts or log, or even settings, the exit is smooth but the entering animation has some kind of unsmooth feel.
any recommendations thanks.

I don't have any lag. Maybe remove the animation. I have not tried to make my Android look like iPhone.
