What could be causing these problems? - HTC Sensation

A few days ago I started getting random reboots and a bit more lag than usually. I thought maybe it was because of UV (-87.5) so I changed it to -50, but it didn't help. The reboots happen two-three times a day usually a second after turning the screen on. Also the lag is getting a bit annoying, it is noticible even when scrolling through the screens. It was better a while ago.
What could be causing such a problem? I am running android 4.0.3 rooted and unlocked S-OFF Elegancia Rom Sense 3.6. more info in attachments.
Also, I recently installed Dualcore Badass Tweaks By Iba21 CPU 384~1566 badass gov an Bricked kernel was installed earlier with 192 mghz min 1566 mhz max, max scrennoff 486, could this mean something?
Any help appreciated.

Have you tried changing your kernel yet? Try changing your kernel and see if the problem persists. Also check battery make sure it has no "wiggle" to it in the housing. If it does wiggle, stabilize it with a piece of paper. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

No, I didn't try changing the kernel yet. Will try it right away. The battery holds firmly, no wiggle whatsoever. Could this have to do anything with the governor changing when going to screen on?

thats fine ..the ram its showing is usable ram thats all
and yes ..after soff if you have unlocked hboot then the number shows 1.27.1111(juopunutbear hboot) and its not a problem

So I changed the kernel from bricked to faux123 192~1.51 cpu. Everything looked ok, but yesterday I got 2 reboots, both when taking a photo, what else could be a problem?

Have you checked to see if battery is loose ? If it has some wiggle this could be causing the reboots. If you find a wiggle put a small wedge of paper to stabilize the battery. Also make sure you're not under or over volted right now, this could be the cause too. For right now while your figuring this out don't under or over volt and see what happens. Try those two suggestions and hopefully the issue will resolve.

No, the battery seems ok. My cpu is currently undervolted by 50 mv,.but it was working fine even on -87.5. Will delete uv and report back.

Hot...yes, overheat... no. Try slowing down your processor when playing games and go into developer options via setting ( can't remember if it's in ginger bread) and check force gpu. Also reduce the amount of apps running when your going to play games for a while. There isn't a fix for that but this should help.

try new bricked kernel. i had also over heat before. but now less. u can give a shot.
I put a ice cube under the phone while watching a movie, but i don't think you can do it on hardcore games like nova.

you can also turn off the capacitive button backlight. from my experience, the lit up buttons really heat the phone up a lot(only around the button area) while the rest of the phone is at normal temp including the battery.
turn off capacitive button backlight, just a thought
What bricked kernel DoD you flash that helped.

Faster than 1782 MHz without shutting off!!!

How can I overclock my sensation higher than 1782 without it shutting the phone off.what's the secret behind it.I would like to run some benchmark test at like 1836 plus if at all possible.any help would be greatly appreciate it.

Not every phone can do it. It really doesn't benefit either.
I just want to push it for all it has to just see what this phone can do is all.I don't plan on keeping it at this for along period of time.

like sshede said, not all phones are made the same. some phones can handle higher OC speeds like 1800-1900mhz, but some can only handle maybe 1500mhz. it all depends....BTW, you should be happy with 1782mhz because if not for a custom kernel, you would be stuck at 1200mhz

Very short battery life

Hi guys, I have sensation xe with elegancia rom sense 3.6 and sebastiqn kernel 1.5.2.
Stock battery 1730mah.
My battery life are very short, I need to charge the device 2-3 times a day.
When I'm not using the phone, screen off and no running apps I'm losing almost 10% per hour.
Any solutions instead of buying new battery?

I suspect something is keeping your phone awake. Mind if you post your battery graph?

Yep, check wich application is draining your battery under Settings -> Alimentation -> Use
And to improve your battery life, disable wifi/3G if not used.
I suspect its the google chrome, I used it for maybe 5 minutes today and it says that it used 5% battery, is that reasonble? Cuz there is another app that used 5% and I used it much more than chrome.

Thats might be something with the kernel? Maybe something wrong with the power managment?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda app-developers app
Also try an other kernel, or if your battery life was good with olders Sebastian's kernels, keep using them.
I has very bad battery-Life Ehen using arhd. I then flashed faux Kernel.
If Sebastian-Kernel allows it, try to stay @ stock CPU-clock, and try undervoltage
I use 1.2 GHz, and - 50mV
Maybe this helps you

[Q] random reboots.!

Hi,
I was previously on Bruce pyramid it was working fine den I flashed vipers rom complete wipe n very next day full wipe and back to the sensation xe rom
I m having random reboots
When I turn on the screen
Back light buttons turns on anv display stays off and no response from screen and it just restart
any advice?
What can b the cause?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using Tapatalk 2
Several things can cause the random reboots. First are you over or under volted? If yes adjust CPU. Second check battery in casing and see if it has any wiggle at all. If yes wedge a small piece of paper on top of the battery to secure the battery. Third try to reinstall rom doing a full wipe, could be a bad flash. If it's still rebooting try another rom to experiment to see if issue lies in the rom it's self. If the issue is gone with another rom then you know the issue is rom related. If the issue is still present with new rom chances are it's device related. Possibly loose battery. Give those things a try to trouble shoot and see if any of this helps. Best wishes. Hopefully one of these options will solve the issue.

It might be a too low 'off screen Max cpu' settings, and also too 'extreme' LMK settings.
Better if you post complete configuration.

Agree with Raven. Sounds like too low screen off frequency.. Check the value of Screen off frequency.
And are you using the latest firmware?
One more thing to check if you are still on ViperS, have you granted Super user permissions to Venom Tweaks?

this might help too : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34849275&postcount=18379
Thanks everyone.
I'm on sensation xe rom 6.8.0
I deleted some unimportant files from sd card n the reboots are gone
Max freq is 1512
Low freq 384

Hi,
Try using faux with intellidemand governor.
What are you normally doing when your phone gets hot?
I'm normally on YouTube and the battery drains quick the CPU temp stays at 48 degrees crlicus

I always found I'd get random reboots and overheating with my phone, no matter the ROM. So I underclocked it, which actually seemed to make things worse. What actually solved the problem was securing the battery with something like a piece of card. Seems that a lot of Sensations had batteries which didn't quite contact the battery correctly, so when it needed a large spike in power (waking, opening apps, some transitions etc) it'd shut off to prevent a power surge. You might want to see if it makes a difference. You'd think with such a high quality design and materials they'd get the basics right....

Up to 70°C-75° is safe and normal when gaming; if you go above that (ex: near 100°C) then the SOC can be permanently damaged.
